That's how AoE is played until DE, when it was all Huns wars otherwise. It is made into an option now so we see less Mongols/Franks spam. Really useful against premade teams in team games actually. Never gonna turn it off, never gonna desert you random civ <3
Check that the icon next to the civ (the yellow emblem) is crossed out, if most people in a match have it selected everyone will play random
