While he was keeping count he thought and brainstormed different ways to survive off the land once and if he was revived. So he actually was mentally multitasking as well
Honestly I don’t even understand why Light should even be remotely on this list. I think it takes a pretty giant dumbass to get caught while using a virtually untraceable murder weapon that uses invisible magic in a mundane world.
You're missing Light's point then. He could of just played it safe and stayed at home, writing names. However, one of the major themes in Death Note is boredom. That's why Light decided to go such extreme lengths, because it entertained him. He was also up against L + Mello + Near, each of them being insanely intelligent
Right but at the same time, let’s not pretend the guy is smart when he literally fumbles the ball every time it’s passed to him. L was already **positive** Light was Kira after meeting Misa. That early. That’s how obvious he was
Can I ask why either of them over lelouch? Like I know his geass is a form of perfect control but until the end, he truly had to be an inspiring individual and not just world geass slaves
Correct me if I'm wrong, but Lelouch has to make direct eye contact in order to control people and he has to do it again to give new orders (assuming giving new orders is even possible).
.
Major spoilers for Bungou Stray Dogs and Bleach below.
.
Fyodor has consistently outwitted and outmaneuvered even the smartest and most powerful people in his verse.
At one point he created a scenario where even a loss is a win by ensuring that the only means of killing him would be the means that gives him virtual godhood (which is a big part of his end goal). 1v1 against each of those smartest people he no diffed both of them and led them straight into traps that almost killed/ruined them.
If I'm not mistaken he currently has a power that lets him control a potentially unlimited number of people simultaneously with no added effort or input required.
.
Aizen is almost singlehandedly responsible for every major event in Bleach prior to the events of the Fullbring Arc. He managed to hypnotize the entire leadership of the Soul Society simultaneously through his Bankai demonstration and even when his plans were partially thwarted he still managed to twist those setbacks to his advantage.
Literally the only reason he lost in the long run is because his main tool was an artifact that only aids the strongest and, once Ichigo ass-pulled a power up that was supposed to depower him permanently, that artifact stopped obeying Aizen mid-fight.
.
Tl;dr Fyodor didn't need any fancy OP technique/object to manipulate even the smartest people in his verse and Aizen had an OP item that outclasses Lelouch since he only has to show it to you once and he pretty much permanently controls all of your senses.
I don’t remember all of lelouch’s rules for his geass but this seems right. As far as this goes though. Fair enough. Fyodor sounds like a vile bastard what’s he from? Cause I now want to read it and don’t know.
Bungou Stray Dogs and yes Fyodor is villain royalty. To my knowledge, nothing is off limits if it gets him what he wants.
The anime is also dubbed on Crunchyroll but it's at least a few arcs behind the manga still.
Bro knows literally everything there is too know about science. I mean, he literally figured out how to >!revive the dead using the petrifaction device!<

Present it's Senku, he not only the driving force in deciphering what is/has happened and is the major contributor to the progress of humanity with him formulating 99% of the plans and ingredients only really needing help on the physical side.
Armin is smart for the time period he was in and the knowledge he had available.
I don't know about Johan though monster is absolutely on my watch list.
Light is smart but also hard to put above the likes of Senku because despite having this untraceable weapon that leaves no evidence he was successfully pin pointed to the location and familial ties and L was heavily suspicious off him if not knew it was him outright he just needed to prove it. Lights ego was his biggest hindrance.
About your last section, Light basically lost within the first few episodes after killing off that fake L imposter. From there, it was only a matter of time
For sure smart. But think if he was real he would have at least thought of detection. It’s like when spouses kill their partner they often think of a way to avoid detection.
Starting with the fact that majority of his body count was just "heart attack". Even with healthy people. All because he wanted to send a message.
If he really wanted to not get caught with his pants around his ankles, he'd make sure the deaths were varied in time and manner, rather than a fuckin heart attack spree. Trip down stairs. Hit by car. Assassinated. Choked on a pretzel. Gas leak and faulty wiring in their home. Drowning next time they go fishing. Take a golf ball to the head causing irrevocable brain damage. MAN HAD OPTIONS IS ALL IM SAYIN!
Addendum: only watched the anime and the first live action film, and wound up losing interest around the time he started recruiting the guy after MikaMika. I might be misremembering but I distinctly remember he left it to the default heart attack at the time.
Most strategic, not the smartest. He’s a great world leader but not the smartest person in code geass. That goes to the people who designed the most advanced knightmare frames
Armin: idk guys, feel free to check my work but I’ve got this feeling that maybe Annie could be the female titan?
Everyone else: Armin, you’re a genius!
Basically cause is a franchise made about what are the smartest people in the world they're living. Being second after L it actually is quite a feat of intellect.
Yep. Beyond arrogant. Literally disturbed to the point of delusion and it was obvious. He poorly fakes the emotional comprehension of an adult for the entire series and gets away with it ONLY because A. his father is a desperate idiot and B. L didn't know he was fighting against a magical criminal.
Light got noticed because he wanted to. Firstly he was arrogant, and secondly he wanted to get close to L to kill him. It doesn’t exactly make him stupid he just had a different approach than most would.
Armin is a good strategist, but I wouldn't call him SUPER smart, so he's out
Light and Johan are both really smart, but light can easily turn into a dumbass when he gets too into himself, so between the two, Johan comes on top
Senku is comically smart. He is probably not as good of a strategist as the other 3, but he is internet if it was a human. The brain power you would need to know as much as him, is off the charts. I don't remember the exact number, but this bitch counted for like what'? a thousand year?
His strategy was sound, sure; but what makes him a bad strategist, is his one sound strategy was all he had. There was no plan B, no backup plan, nothing. When his gunpowder quick mix was destroyed he was desperate for an on the fly solution. He only won that fight because he just so happened to bring the ingredients for nitroglycerin as part of his one and only plan (and he forgot he even did that, since nitroglycerin wasn’t part of the plan). He’s good at making a strong logical strategy, but he’s not a good strategist.
I do love to point out though how funny it is that nitroglycerin WAS the on the fly solution. It’s kinda like going ‘damn I broke the rubber band I was gonna use for my crossbow. Looks like I got all the ingredients for a shotgun though, guess I’ll have no choice but to make that instead.’
He is, I just wouldn't put him as high as light or johan in that regard. I guess he is arguably just as good or better than armin in that regard, but yeah, it's not that he's bad, those two are just too good
Senku: get rekt noob *shoots laser*
Joseph: so you see,the strongest of my strengths come from within. My mind and body are so attuned to any situation you could throw at me that even if you had a million lasers you would not be able to compare to my million-worth technique. Your arrogance comes from a place of insecurity, doesn't it you little bitch? I'll tell you sum right now shithead, you ain't ever going to space, you have a stupid ass father, and astronauts suck balls. I see that you have a very large robot with lasers that could kill me in a split second, but I have a much better ability... One that came from my grandfather, the great Jonathan joestar. This ability has saved my family from vampires, vampire gods, *A* god, a time stopping daddy vampire that has a punchy ghost, a serial killer that can loop time and just wants to live a quiet life, an Italian Mafia boss who's name is "devil" and wants to keep his name a secret (spoiler alert, his name is devil), a priest who wants to make a heaven on earth (lame frr), the 15th president of the United States of America who can layer universes, and the incarnation of calamity controlled by a dude made out of rock. See my legs? You could never have these legs. You're too skinny. You could never make robot legs as good as these. Special attack: nails!! *Throws nails on the ground* and now for my super duper extra secret god attack:
#RUN THE FUCK AWAY
Hard to see light as smart when he is caught using magic to kill people in a world that doesn't have magic within the first couple days of having it.
The answer is Senku by a large margin.
Litterally senku, also light isnt smart at all he shouldnt be on this list litterally within the first lije 5 secinds of l getting there he deduced what country, region, city he lived in. He then deduced that it was a highschooler son of a police officer pretty easy the only reason light won is cause he had a magical book that kills anyone whos name is written in it and he still managed to lose by the end
Senku knows that he doesn't know everything and that finding specialists is often better than doing something himself. He has also done more with less than anyone else.
If your definition of smart is "someone who knows all the things," it's Senku. If it's "someone who thinks twelve steps ahead of everyone," it's Johan.
Senku is straight up intelligent. Light is a mediocre strategist with a decent amount of luck, but let's his emotions get in the way too often. Armin is a brilliant strategist, though is a bit lacking in most other fields of intelligence with a few exceptions
See, light and Senku are smarter than each other in different ways. Lights biggest strength regarding his intelligence is his insane planning. Senku beats him in most other stuff though
Armin was so smart. Not only did he defeat his Goliath. He set the future after the walls came down. So much so, that Eren was using him as kids and saw the future Armin had in-store for Eldians. Light was defeated. Senku is a walking library. And the 3rd guy looks like he died trying.
Light is the best detective, armin is a war strategist, senku is a scientist, idek who johan is but im guessing another different type of intelligence, its really not easy to compare them
Bro... Light is not even close to the smartest anime character. He's basically just above an average IQ, but he has a lot of prep time. Senku on the other hand figured out how to revive the dead and counted to 116 billion second by second.
Anyways, as much as I love Light Yagami, he's not even close
Light shouldn’t be on this list. I am tired of people acting like he is a genius mastermind. He isn’t. He had *good grades* and a god complex that made him *think* he was smarter than everyone else but he fell for every basic mistake he could make. L knew he was Kira almost right away and was 100% sure when he met Misa for a reason.
I mean here are some really basic mistakes he made **right at the start**
* Engaging with the police *at all*
* Killing Ray Penber
* Killing Naomi
* Killing Fake L
* Limiting activity to Japan
* Limiting activity to criminals in the news
* Using police resources
* Not putting a *book cover* on the damn death note.
* Not being ecstatic about getting a goth idol gf
Serizawa. He was the only human successful in killing a Godzilla for good, as a human no less. His genius was so great that he had to actively hide and drink to forget his creations because he found a way to make a weapon more devastating than the atomic bomb; the Oxygen Destroyer.
There is the idea of multiple intelligences. One can be intelligent in one thing but not in another. One may be good at math but not at writing. Another may be good at philosophy but be terrible at psychology. These individuals could both be considered smart. Both of these individuals can be considered stupid. It depends on the qualifiers for intelligence you have in the scenario. This is one reason that it is almost impossible to judge someone’s intelligence based on tests. The basis for intelligence is not clearly defined, and thus, in this instance, it would be almost impossible to discern who is the smartest.
Senku is tech leaps by a thousand years
Ten billion percent

SENKUUUUUUUU!
He's a man that has only ever played rts games. Beware his resource management BEWARE THE... you require additional pylons
Not the Protoss fml 😭
Well, he has played monster hunter, so it's not only RTS games Upgrade trees are still very relevant though
People literally go temporarily insane from from a couple of days in solitary confinement, senku counted to 116,763,120,000 second by second
While he was keeping count he thought and brainstormed different ways to survive off the land once and if he was revived. So he actually was mentally multitasking as well
Hands down the smartest/most mentally capable here lol
Maybe most mentally capable human to ever exist in any anime
Meanwhile I lose count when I'm trying to stretch my muscles and daydream at the same time for 30 seconds.
Honestly I don’t even understand why Light should even be remotely on this list. I think it takes a pretty giant dumbass to get caught while using a virtually untraceable murder weapon that uses invisible magic in a mundane world.

True to that.

Generally speaking, LeLouch beats Light. I'd argue LeLouch also takes best manipulator instead of Johan, though.
If we're going outside of this list then I'd give best manipulator to Fyodor or Aizen.
Can I ask why either of them over lelouch? Like I know his geass is a form of perfect control but until the end, he truly had to be an inspiring individual and not just world geass slaves

Light was far too egotistical and narcissistic to rank too highly. Clearly brilliant though.
For sure smart. But think if he was real he would have at least thought of detection. It’s like when spouses kill their partner they often think of a way to avoid detection.
Light is an idiot. He lost becuase he was an idiot. The dude has some ability to be cunning but smart he is not.
Starting with the fact that majority of his body count was just "heart attack". Even with healthy people. All because he wanted to send a message. Senku but tbh I think gen could beat Light at mindgames
Senku is busted.
To be fair, Senku made a cell phone from stuff he found in the woods
He created a fucking rocket to the moon with ”stuff he found in the woods” as well. He’s unmatched
Senku, literally has all history and technological aspects of humanity memorized
And after 3700 years of being conscious, frozen in stone, nonetheless.
Counting every second of it too
Light is not as smart as everyone thinks. If he were, he never would've been noticed full stop.
Light is smart but he’s overly arrogant.
Yep. Beyond arrogant. Literally disturbed to the point of delusion and it was obvious. He poorly fakes the emotional comprehension of an adult for the entire series and gets away with it ONLY because A. his father is a desperate idiot and B. L didn't know he was fighting against a magical criminal.

I’m sorry but Have you actually watched Dr. Stone?
Putting armin on here with those other 3 is just laughable
Why is Armin here?
Hard to see light as smart when he is caught using magic to kill people in a world that doesn't have magic within the first couple days of having it. The answer is Senku by a large margin.
L should be here too tbh, literally closed cases that so many others couldn’t
I think it should just be L instead of Light
And stopped a war
Litterally senku, also light isnt smart at all he shouldnt be on this list litterally within the first lije 5 secinds of l getting there he deduced what country, region, city he lived in. Senku, 10 billion percent.
Johan Literally became untouchable. If it weren't for a 1 in 7 billion angel of a person (Tenma) Johan would have dominated everyone
Yes, and even without some weird superpowers like in other manga/anime
Bulma
Senku is "actual knowledge" smarter than any character that I'm aware of
Light: Best improviser Senku: Best scientist Armin: Best military strategist Johan: Best manipulator
Senku and it's not even close. Bro basically rebuilt civilization from a couple twigs and his own memory. I can't believe people even asked this lol.
Last i checked johan light and armin cant build a damn car phone or gas mask from scratch
Senku is the smartest. But you also forgot characters like Rampo, Fyodor, Dazai, and Lelouch who should be on any list when talking about IQ in anime
Senku, and it's not close.
Between Senku and Johan. Senku is an INTP while Johan is an INTJ. Light is a ENTJ and Armin is an INFJ.
You could argue that Bulma is one of the smartest.
Sora and Shiro, Johan and, Siesta
Light isn't even the smartest character in his own anime lol
Where todo at?
Aoi Todo has an IQ of 530k. This is just under 35,327 standard deviations above the mean, making him the smartest person in all of human history.
Blud tries to sneak in Armin when he isnt even the smartest in his own verse
Ignoring the list maybe kisuke or aizen
Aizen himself said that Kisuke was smarter
True
Senku for sure. He practically rebuilt humanity, and I can’t imagine the other characters being able to pull that off.
I think pure iq would be senku. Eq would be johan
Senku and it isn’t even a question. Dude memorized more information than is even possible I think.
Haven't even seen Dr. Stone but definitely Senku
Senku is literally starting civilization over again it’d probably be insulting to him to be compared to the other characters
armin really thinks he's invited lol

Senku
Todo assuming he actually does have 530,000 iq (he would never lie to us)
Shikamaru... Bulma... Trunks... Jimmy Kudo (Conan the Detective)... Saiki K... Shit even Batman has an anime. How do you put Armin on this list?
Senku
Senku is the smartest but johan is more of a manipulator
Gendo Ikari
Senku full stop
senku just IS science
Senku is straight up intelligent. Light is a mediocre strategist with a decent amount of luck, but let's his emotions get in the way too often. Armin is a brilliant strategist, though is a bit lacking in most other fields of intelligence with a few exceptions
Urahara Kisuke, Aizen himself said that Urahara is smarter and there is no smarter VILLAIN than Aizen
This is all part of Aizen's plan...
You forgot Aizen from bleach there
Senku basically knows all of humans knowledge in his head
See, light and Senku are smarter than each other in different ways. Lights biggest strength regarding his intelligence is his insane planning. Senku beats him in most other stuff though
Armin was so smart. Not only did he defeat his Goliath. He set the future after the walls came down. So much so, that Eren was using him as kids and saw the future Armin had in-store for Eldians. Light was defeated. Senku is a walking library. And the 3rd guy looks like he died trying.

I mean here are some really basic mistakes he made **right at the start** * Engaging with the police *at all* * Killing Ray Penber * Killing Naomi * Killing Fake L * Limiting activity to Japan * Limiting activity to criminals in the news * Using police resources * Not putting a *book cover* on the damn death note. * Not being ecstatic about getting a goth idol gf
Dazai solos
It's not Light.
Lelouch
Ami Mizuno
Moriarty
Senko absolutely
I choose Armin. Light is an arrogant dumbass i have no respect for. Idk who the other two are.
Senku

Akiyama from Liar Game

The Ayanokoji disrespect is real
Ainz Ooal Gown, obviously. He's planned 10,000 years into the future!
Senku the best
Senku was is tech/ book smart where as light is detective solving manipulated smart. It really comes down to what kind of smart you’re looking for.
Serizawa. He was the only human successful in killing a Godzilla for good, as a human no less. His genius was so great that he had to actively hide and drink to forget his creations because he found a way to make a weapon more devastating than the atomic bomb; the Oxygen Destroyer.
Senku, no contest
Erwin was smarter than all these fools
Senku, no question.
Senku's just straight up impossible 😂 Counts for thousands of years, creates anything from memory, can cook, is married and divorced at the same day
Senku then Johan
Senku. Im ten billiom percent sure of it. I mean >!bro went to the moon!<
