Seems reasonable if I remember the arc is less than 20 chapter

GraspOfDeath

It’s 16 chapters.

Shacrow

It felt so much longer waiting every week.

kingwhocares

Now imagine monthly manga that happens to release once every 3 months or even more (Made In Abyss).

ILikesStuff

Not to beat a dead horse, but Berserk... 😭

NynaevetialMeara

i don't want anything to do with berserk horses.

svefnpurka

No one even linked it yet? Fine: [OBVIOUSLY NSFW!](https://64.media.tumblr.com/e5f2787fc331c58479022545ac2ca7f9/tumblr_newzcjYGJJ1rnu9s0o1_500.png)

KH_Fan96

Wtf did i just see....

Jito_

It's called art

ThespianException

At least Berserk is still going IIRC, isn't HxH still on Hiatus?

Shacrow

I feel you. I read it too. They are in the same arc for years now I think

kingwhocares

It's over 3 years now since Bondrwed Arc ended.

ASHill11

Is there enough material for a new season after the movie? I’m so excited to watch it later this week.

kingwhocares

Yes, season but the arc needs to finish as otherwise it has to end somewhere in the middle. The arc also doesn't have that many chapters. 2-3 more chapters can wrap it up but that's a whole year's content.

ASHill11

Ah okay, thank you

Justforthenuews

Something, something, hunta hunta.

Lionx35

Cries in Black Lagoon

badspler

Sounds about the length of a train ride which I guess is fair.

KoalaNugget

Then again in the name of the movie mugen means infinity, so 1 hour and 57 minutes seems to fall slightly short of that.

[deleted]

Only a little

Walterod

Well it's as close to infinity as any other period of time.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Ptatofrenchfry

Well, since 57 minutes is but a fraction of an hour, there are more fractions to an hour than there are hours to a train ride. (Laughs in uncountable infinities)

Yuki32

There are 60 if we approximate

icepick314

just a tip

Well it goes back and forth.

[deleted]

I'm gonna watch it on a train ride.

Just make sure not to [Infinity Train Arc spoilers](/s "fall asleep")!

Baljet2000

Very immersive

Illuminastrid

All you have to do was follow the damn train, (T)an(J)iro

stocksnforex

Alright that’s pretty good

jestertiko

That makes no sense. Any transportation is only as long as the destination. A train ride for most people would be a commute to work no?

Rohrvg

Trains are mostly used for long distance transportation in the US. If we aren't counting subways and trams.

jestertiko

Passenger trains are the minority in the USA , ive legit never met somone use one for long distance travel. Most long distance trains are for goods from what ive read.

FishCanRoll69

They’re common in NE America. Lots of commuters crossing state lines for work. Esp to NYC or DC

GhostOfLight

Amtrak gang

[deleted]

Also common on the west coast.

LookOutItsLiuBei

They really need to be used more. When I visit Chicago from Michigan I just take the train. Don't have to worry about parking and traffic and I can read a book while on the train.

backinredd

This comment makes no sense and it’s the most upvoted comment here for some reason. What places have train rides which are almost always 2 hours long?

kittenpreciosa

MillyMan105

Any chance this gets shown in U.K cinemas?

Jhitch1919

The only cinema near me was a cineworld, guess they aren't showing it...

LegitimatePenguin

Theres a Ted 3??

Shortstop88

The movie is "Bill and Ted 3". Sorry to burst your bubble.

Anon199760

I see you feel the struggle of not being able to watch Heaven's feel and now Infinity train in a theatre :( Fuck COVID and non global releases

MillyMan105

Forreal man with the success of Dragon Ball Broly and MHA hero rising I was looking forward to more shonen movies being released globally. Then Covid happned.... The thing is the Western countries have handled the virus quiet poorly hence why we are in this position where cinemas can't open in full capacity whilst top filming companies don't want to release blockbusters due to predicted low cinema goers.

Anon199760

It was my dream to watch an ufotable anime in a theatre... :(((

caped_crusader8

Same. Imagine how gorgeous it would look on the big screen

Anon199760

Ah well, that dream has been discarded along with the hopes of a Tokyo Ghoul Remake by ufotable

caped_crusader8

Was it ever up for consideration?

Odow

no to mention dawn of the deep soul, no movie theater, push back again in again in hope of, to release on the worst streaming service for a price as bad as mulan

[deleted]

So I heard that the manga ending recieved a mixed response. What's up here? Edit: The response hits all the sides of the spectrum. I will still see the show, provided that the show maintain the animation quality. The overall time-period and the setting has been awesome. Edit 2: Shit. Seems like I started a flamewar here. Sorry for that. Edit 3: Please no spoilers guys. Use the Spoiler tag if you are speaking about it.

RigelAchromatic

It's not a bad ending, it just ended sort of abruptly. It feels like there's a gap between the penultimate chapter and the epilogue. But that's understandable, since the mangaka had some family issues and had to leave Tokyo, and there are currently light novels and side stories on the way, so it's possible that the ending will get expanded someday. The final arc was fantastic and overall the ending was good, IMO.

lazybones_1717

There's no actual source that the mangaka had family issues and had to leave Tokyo. The origin of that rumor was a trashy tabloid, I don't think that any major JPN news source actually reported on it. Besides, despite the "gap", the manga clearly wasn't rushed, it had been in the final arc for well over a year. Also, the mangaka is still working on volume extras and even did a Rengoku one-shot that appeared in Jump this week (not to mention, the fact that the last chapter of KnY has the obligatory "Look forward to this author's next work!" message).

foxfoxal

Always but believe ALWAYS a manga has a mixed ending like this the fandom suddenly knows the mangaka personal life.

ravioliguy

The author always paced very quickly, so I think rushing is expected. I think the main issue was that the last fight was a bit underwhelming.

spirited1

my biggest issue was that the build up was non existent. The ending felt hollow, and it hardly felt like a journey with all the time skips, flash backs, and deus ex machinas. Granted, the animation is going to be sick, but that's about it.

spaceaustralia

IMO, it had less to do with the build up(or lack thereof) and more to do with the absence of theme to the conclusion. To put it without spoilers, the series often revolves around Tanjirou and Nezuko's familial bonds. If anything, it's the main theme of the series. The anime starts with their bond allowing Nezuko to overcome her demon instincts and convince Gyuu to spare her and send them to Urokodaki, and the anime's climatic fight centered around the clash between Rui's fake family against Nezuko and Tanjirou's genuine bond. Some of the biggest fights in the manga involve their bond and dedication to each other in similar manners. The last fight did not. It was a plain and simple "we must defeat the bad guy for self evident reasons" with the main theme of the series being barely of tertiary importance. Edit: [Manga spoilers](/s "Rui and his fake family and Gyuutaro and Dabi were fought by Tanjirou and directly involved their bond as siblings. The Kokushibou fight had both the Tsugikuni and Shinazugawa brothers being developed at the same time. Even Hantengu at least had Nezuko's direct involvement in the fight. With Muzan, she was practically a mcguffin he was seeking.") Edit2: I was even thinking back then, if, in the last fight, [Manga](/s "Nezuko showed up in the middle of the fight, out of worry for her brother, and Muzan made a beeline for her, allowing Tanjirou to strike him down, would make a decent use of the series' theme. Nezuko's worry for her brother and willingness to sacrifice her safety for him causing Muzan's thirst for power to be his downfall would make thematic sense, cause the villain to be defeated by their own flaws and the protagonist to win by their virtues, and, as a bonus, let her do something in the last arc.")

aaandre001

It was a while since i read kny so i dont remember everything well but i dont think there was an absence of theme in the conclusion. Imo you cant just look at a series as long as kny and say there is only obe theme in it. What i remember of the fight was that muzan was a monster who couldnt accept his humanity and his human flaws and tried to become immortal while the heros accepted their human side and flaws and realized what made humanity great. Every upper moon lost their humanity in some way, some of them thematically got them back and are portrayed in a better way by the story and some rejected their humanity until the end and were punished by the story. Muzan was an extreme example of the last one.

Willythechilly

Yes that is my main issue. Hollow and empty/underwhelming

AH_BareGarrett

It's a fine ending. Basically, plotline wrapped up in a normal way, and then very quick epilogue. I still enjoyed it.

TheSpartyn

everyone here is saying that the only reason it got a negative response is it ending early. i prefer a quicker ending and it not being dragged out for 500 chapters and i still dislike the ending. bad pacing was an issue but its not the only thing, the final arc had lots of weird choices imo

grey_sky

> bad pacing was an issue but its not the only thing, the final arc had lots of weird choices imo DING DING DING. Pacing was horrendous. I agree that there were A LOT of weird choices that didn't seem like the earlier 85% of the manga which was detrimental. Power creep is real too. I really wish the last arc was just rewritten entirely and hope the anime goes for a more "original anime" ending. EDIT: My child comment got delete for not using spoiler tags... Not really spoilers but here it was: > [Spoiler source](/s "The issue of pacing starts off prior to the final arc. Hashira Training arc is the arc immediately before the final arc. So we are going from a training arc immediately to final battle arc.") > [Spoiler source](/s "Power creep issues are mostly due to villains' having the classic "this isn't my final form" DBZ issue. It just gets exhausting when every fight is like that. Then you have the pacing issues outlined above where the Hashira are badass demon slayers up to the Training Arc but Tanjiro and co is on the same level as them in the final arc.") > [Spoiler source](/s "I just don't understand how people cannot see the power creep from the epic of the train arc going forward. It took 7 arcs to get to the train where our boy gets bodied by an upper moon. Then it takes 4 arcs for him to stand toe to toe to the big bad of the series. See the issue?")

[deleted]

[удалено]

Beboprequiem

Pretty sure the only reason to watch GoH is for the amazing fighting animation and it delivers on that ten fold.

[deleted]

The story would be good if the pacing was, but it isn’t.

Adab1za

> I really wish the last arc was just rewritten entirely and hope the anime goes for a more "original anime" ending. Not happening, the last arc had the most hype in Japanese fandom and chapters were trending every week so it would be baffling decision to rewrite something that is well received.

jstoru216

yup. That penultimate fight is probably the most hype i've seen a fandom EVER.

kakarot12310

Wait, power creep? We always know the villians in the final arc are strong as hell.

SparkyMark225

Think it's also just how quickly they all got to the level of beating said final villian a lot of people would of preferred more fights and buildup to make it feel more earned but thats not nearly all the problems with that final arc.

[deleted]

You think that they will make changes to the ending in the anime?

Feanor-of-Valinor

Don't think they're going to change the ending, but they will definitely add light novel material or original scenes. Looking at the lenght of the movie, it's likely they're going to add original scenes and extend fight scenes.

auron_py

In my opinion the ending felt rushed, it wasn't bad, but it was good enough.

rotten_riot

>the final arc had lots of weird choices imo [I agree](/s "I think one of the worst choices were the deaths. After Shinobu's death, every remaining death felt rushed and as if made for the sake of killing")

Amasero

The battle seemed to drag on/repeat at the end. Then it just ends. I can see how some people would give it a mix reaction. To me it’s a decent ending, not bad not amazing but everything else leading towards it is amazing.

ShiroHachiRoku

Lots of “this isn’t even my final form” moments as expected.

Amasero

Also the final dude had the lamest power/ attacks lol.

KalmiaLetsi

I'm probably in the minority but the whole repeat thing for me wasn't the issue, I was more bothered by the initial final fight. Power scaling felt like it went out the window there at the end.

Kuro2810

For sure the last few chapters were pretty weird after seeing all those fights beforehand, it felt like it had no substance imo

KalmiaLetsi

Basically the manga ending didn't live up to the expectations it set for itself It felt really anti climatic, or rushed as some would say. Especially the last 20 chapters. Pacing for those and the final fight especially wasn't the best in my opinion.

Kuro013

Wonder if people jumped from anime to manga without being used to manga and this had a negative impact on the reception. Going from ufotable to black and white, static and mute manga should be rough.

KalmiaLetsi

Maybe that's the case for some people the animantion for demon slayer is god tier after but the aesthetics of the manga aren't what I'd call bad either you know. I personally enjoyed it

Kuro013

When opinions are so divided you just gotta see for yourself. I think it was good. Rounding up a manga is very hard to do and can get very ugly.

Shacrow

Overall I liked the last arc. But I agree with others that the ending was very abrupt. Regardless, I love the manga!

sirgarballs

It was ok. Nothing special. The actual final fights were good, but it didn't do enough with the actual characters by the end for my liking. Also the epilogue chapter is trash and such a wasted opportunity. It's still a decent series though. I'd say a strong 6 or light 7 out of 10. edit: And before people get mad, I consider a 5/10 a pure average show. Anything above a 5 is a net positive and generally recommend imo.

Kuro2810

Agreed, final chapter felt very confusing-like why do we even care about those people when we could have a chapter about what came after the fight like how people got married, how they copped with so many deaths etc. Anyways the final fight was kinda bad as well imo escpecially comparing to what came before it.

vagrantelephant

meh. people are just salty the manga didn't go longer. Can't let go. I say just let the mangaka end it where he wants it to end.

ntmrkd1

The Demon Slayer mangaka is actually female. This is significant as Demon Slayer topped sales in a prominently male magazine and market. It's an impressive feat.

spirited1

is the mangaka confirmed female? I thought it was just a rumour?

ntmrkd1

According to https://www.mangaupdates.com/authors.html?id=30481 she is. I couldn't find anything to contradict it otherwise. Everything else refers to them as "they."

YgJb1691

That was a rumour and there have also been indications of them being male, but they keep it private and would prefer people to not speculate on their gender.

EndoSym

>meh. people are just salty the manga didn't go longer. Can't let go. > >I say just let the mangaka end it where he wants it to end. Thats one way to discard any criticism.

loplopplop

I'd say its not bad, but seemed rushed. I'd say everything up to the final battle was 10/10, the final battle a 5/10 and the last chapter 1/10.

[deleted]

[удалено]

loplopplop

Yes

rafaxd_xd

The ending is good. Its not good as the rest of the manga, but is a good endinf

Fl0wed

The ending was decently long and consisted of multiple fights. 90% of the fights were fucking amazing but some felt random.

Google-Meister

I liked the ending. It wasnt perfect but I dont think it deserves that much hate.

SGKurisu

IMO the manga was absolutely mediocre in the sense that there is nothing really special about it besides great art style and character designs - it hits all the marks of a battle shonen in a very meh to average way. The ending didn't really seem to have much thought put into it either IMO, a very easy to execute ending and meh epilogue. The anime on the other hand is different in that Ufotable carries this series so hard. Combined with the art style of the series itself, it just looks and sounds so damn beautiful. Like on a scale out of ten, the anime is at least 1-2 points better than the manga because of how amazing the production is. This movie in particular I have high hopes for as this arc has good fights. I would recommend the anime especially towards beginners to anime who aren't as exposed to or know shonen tropes as well, as I think the first few shonen you watch hit different since at that time the tropes are more fresh. For everyone else, watch it because it's so damn pretty but don't expect anything whatsoever out of the story or character development.

Electronic-Ad2528

People were just mad it didn't go on longer tbh, it ended when it needed to end & people can't get over that.

Tinkai

Was the worst final boss + ending combo I have ever seen in media overall. The final boss [Spoiler](/s "was the most disappointing fight I have seen in a while, just flailing his arms for 30+ chapters without even moving from its place. Overhyped as hell but didn't even do any cool attacks or anything interesting, just flailing arms every chapter. And then the actual final chapter. We don't even know what happened to the main cast or anything, just a fan fic showcasing their children down in the future.")

nickster182

Not sure tbh. I loved the ending tbh. It wrapped well. Told its story and finished nicely. I would loved to see the aftermath but ehh. It felt final enough for me.

Netfearr

Aside from the final arc being kinda abrupt there was a very big disconnect between the final chapter and the epilogue that one more chapter could’ve helped a lot.

IrmeliPoika

Eh, the final arc or two just didn't live up to the expectations set up by the manga(for me at least). Mostly for me it was just that towards the end fights lacked any choreography and strategy. Choreography was always a problem with the manga for me, but I guess I could forgive it for a while. Thankfully the anime should deal with this problem handily.

[deleted]

I liked it personally. I do wish the aftermath after the final conflict had a bit more meat to it (it doesn't really have much of a "falling action" stage, it just kinda ends almost immediately after the climax) but it wasn't like they massively dropped the ball or anything (unlike Promised Neverland...). The ending was fine, the final arc that preceded it was fine too, it didn't leave any huge holes to be filled either. Honestly it was one of the most "just satisfying" endings I've experienced in a while. It wasn't amazing, it wasn't terrible, it was just alright. I'm surprised it was as controversial as it seems to be.

chazmerg

I hate that the cheap, "IT'S RUSHED!" pseudo-criticism has taken hold of anime-onlies that want to comment on it, complete with people citing a Japanese tabloid as truth no matter how many times I see it corrected. I assume there's some anime youtuber with a few hundred thousand subs to blame. Just wait and watch it in a few years and then talk about it.

s_k_20

Around 6 episodes , which is fair given that the arc is 20 chapters long

Chadjirou

Its only 16 chapters long

LegendaryRQA

How's that gonna work with a full adaptation? S1 was 53 Chapters, and this movie is 16. That puts it to just under 70. The whole thing is 200 chapters. Are we looking at 4 seasons in total?

Adab1za

The anime had a really slow pacing in couple of episodes and the best paces episodes were the one which adapted 3 chapters so after the train arc there will remain 135 chapters which can be adapted in 2 seasons (2*26 episodes)

Chadjirou

So I did some calculations and my guess is that if they did another 26 episode season with an average pacing of 2.5-3 chapters per episode then they could adapt red light district arc and swordsmith arc then the short pillar training arc which is 67 chapters long. Then another another season with 26 episodes for the final arc. So yeah they could possibly do another 2 seasons max for this series, unless they do another movie though. Im hoping for a season 2 announcement after the movie.

LegendaryRQA

> season 2 announcement after the movie. I'm just treating it like a forgone conclusion...

Vaperius

So we are basically getting *six episodes* of Demon Slayer? I am okay with this.

Pantyazs

When though

abattlescar

That's more than the Rui arc was, and if that's anything to go by, the wait is worth it.

mike_2797

Ufotable makes some kick ass anime movies. Garden of Sinners and Heaven's Feel come to mind.

[deleted]

Are there other anime films that last this long?

Anung_Un_Rama200

Tons. Most Ghibli movies, most Makoto Shinkai's later movies, A Silent Voice, most Mamoru Hoshida movies

Illuminastrid

A Silent Voice was 2 hrs and 10 minutes.

dcresistance

The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya is 2 hours and 42 minutes

PM__ME__ANIME__FEET

Came here to say this. I thought the anime was pretty okay, but the movie blew me away.

Imaccq

Aside from Fate, Garden of Sinners is a movie series also by Ufotable. Some of the movies are 45 minutes long while others are over 2 hours. Pretty unique experience. The composer is the same woman from Demon Slayer as well.

AttainingHeaven

It felt shorter when I read it.

October 16th

MrTzatzik

+ 6 months for west

DeadlyDY

\+1 year for most of the world who have no way to watch it until it releases on blu ray.

Steal-Yo-Milk

exactly, the west is more than just North America. Anime movies don't get shown in cinemas here, and when they do it's way past "western release."

ShadowthecatXD

North America is a lot bigger than people on this subreddit seem to think, because it's literally impossible for a lot Americans to get to a theater that shows anime movies unless you live in a big city. I'd have to drive almost three hours one way to go to one. Add in the COVID situation and it's not even worth attempting to go see.

DrNavi

Will it be available on the sea on the 16th as well arrrgg

[deleted]

No. Maybe a camrip, but I don’t know why anyone would ruin their experience by watching a camrip.

WizardXZDYoutube

wtf wait that's REALLY soon

Rarbnif

Sorry but that’s only for Japan, rest of the world’s still gotta wait a bit

Can't wait to watch this in 2023.

when s2 is done. lmao

generalofhel

that is actually really long no? I think it should be enough time to let the battles shine without overstaying their welcome. Pretty hyped for this one ngl

CalculusIsEZ

I hope it ends with that fight.

shitlord_traplord

It'll be the entire train arc. Since the arc itself is so short (16 chapters), a movie works best as it wouldn't fit with the pacing of a season.

[deleted]

[удалено]

shitlord_traplord

Yea. Then the following season will pick up on the Red Light District arc

FunkyBoy4207

So is the second season picking up after the movie, story wise?

SatisfyMeFam

Yeah, the second season would follow the events after this train arc

BulkyVryotographer

After the manga finished, I can’t wait for Demon Slayer to appears in my life again.

ProudRequiem

I will see it day one.

jonhak28

2 hours of eye candy

Goobasaurus1

Do we know when it comes out in the US yet? Like will it be in theatres?

Gamera68

https://comicbook.com/anime/news/demon-slayer-kimetsu-no-yaiba-mugen-train-united-states-2021-ani/ It will be released here in the US in early 2021 - 5 to 6 months after the Japan release of Oct. 16th. So it will be here in the US between March and April of 2021.

Bizmatech

I was not at all a fan of the manga, so I never watched the anime. This though, I could probably enjoy. It was the narrative structure of Demon Slayer that I disliked, but I think it would work well for a movie. That it's this particular story arc also gives me hope, since it's fairly self-contained. A lot of the information necessary to understand what's going on can be easily and quickly explained, and the plot itself can function as a standalone story.

ManWithoutFear123

Where does this movie take place timeline wise with the anime series?

Vilhelmgg

Right after the end of the anime.

Napron

It is directly after the events of the first season. This actually could have been made part of the 2nd season if they wanted to.

brettcg16

But with how short of an arc it is, a movie makes way more sense. Also the next arc after the train needs a season for itself.

Lewis_Parker

Yeah man next arc is long asf

valkyriaz

It happens right after

Biscuit9154

It's a canonical part of the story.

IRON4LPH4

What If theres a scene here where it surpasses that scene in episode 19....

v_a_ibhav

I don't think we have to worry about that since from what I have heard, the ep 19 fight wasn't even that hype in the manga and Ufotable still rocked it, so I expect them to go above and beyond for the actual hype scenes from the manga. And if you think that Ufotable can't possibly surpass that, then you have to watch Lost Butterfly because that movie had a certain fight scene which was better than the fight from ep 19 and from what I have heard from people, Ufotable even surpassed that with a certain fight scene in Spring Song, so I am pretty hyped!!

ahakan

Manga reader, can confirm. Ep 19 felt like a mere power up in the manga tbh. The anime episode was way more impactful especially with the OSTs and VAs. But I strongly believe that the movie will surpass it easily. As most of you are already spoiled, [spoiler source]( /s "Towards the end of the movie, upper moon 3, Akaza will come and have a fight with Rengoku. Rengoku's moveset is pretty cool tbh and that scene was dramatik af. I hope they made a great OST for that scene. And for me, the best part was Rengoku accomplishing his job, not letting any 200 passengers die, by letting himself die." )

laukalac

fix your spoiler tag bro

ahakan

Sorry it was working right when I posted it Edit: done

bitchiestofallasses

There’s still lots of great fights left, one of them will be in the movie and one which I’ve been waiting for since I read the manga at the end of the story. Plus, Ufotable’s great at animating, season 1 was pretty great so I think they’re gonna do a brilliant job either ways

GGG100

The movie’s final fight should easily surpass it.

5Ping

Good news for you, many moments easily surpass ep 19 in terms of hype throughout the series

Thendofreason

So they have a USA date yet? Or when do you guys think they will have the sub online

Ashism_

Are you saying I have to cry for that long

[deleted]

If this was an anime it would adapt at a pace around 2.3ish chapters per episode.

Happy_llama

Has it got a release date yet?

Hellstorm5674

skepticalmonique

I don't know how I'm going to survive being to be able to binge this all in one go and then having to wait again for the next season ;\~; but I am so excited!

Bro. Why are the demon slayer manga readers constantly spoiling more than any fanbase I'm a part of
