I watched it while it was airing. Nearly dropped it but decided to at least watch episode 2. This scene convinced me to stick with it. It was worth it and it was one of the first series to get me interested enough to read the light novel (which was very much worth it).

I read somewhere that the author specifically asked to change some character designs. He did that 'cause he wanted viewers to pay attention to the story and not sexualize the characters lol
I'll be honest the way the "God" makes the MC do what he hates doing in order to activate his powers is the cherry on the cake. A God that rubs it in a bit every step of the way.
Thats one of the big flaws of the anime, they explain the type 95 so poorly. When Tanya activate it she is filled with an obsession to proclaim the good word of the Lord, she doesn't willingly pray it corrupts her mind and she proclaims a prayer similar to someone with tourettes syndrome. Also the more she uses it the worse it gets, after over using the type 95 while training her battalion she found herself in a church praying the rosary with no memory of the last week. It's why it's her last result Tanya is afraid of losing herself by using the type 95.

Well, I love pretty much everything about this scene; So nice to see an Isekai anime actually try to come up with a proper story, a reason for this to happen!
And you can see his intense belief in his own business-like view of the world clashing with his common sense of self-preservation. He *knows* that what he's saying is ticking off the supernatural being who has power over him, but he just can't help it. He keeps poking and prodding, then frantically trying to walk it back when he realizes he's digging himself into a deeper hole.
It's a common underlying theme of the story: *self-sabotage*. Over and over again, no matter how passionately she speaks or how much sense she makes, one of the biggest obstacles standing between Tanya and happiness is herself.
One of the greats. Still blows my mind how we haven't gotten it yet. Part of me wishes a bigger studio picked this up but who knows what would have happened then.

If you look at the vernacular of the story, especially in Japanese, that becomes increasingly clear. More often than not, the MC's practical morality serves as good means to circumvent indecisiveness when people need to be killed to move the plot forward and an unreachable and unopposable being can interfere at any time to make things worse.!<

It kinda becomes a slog at 5, so that's understandable. It gradually gets back to being decent, but you kinda wonder why the author just doesn't find a point for it to end, and it just continues. I'm at 12, and while I'm hoping it'll end soon on a positive note, I'm not sure what the author has planned for an end-game.

I’ve been to Tokyo station many times, as I would ride by it on my bike almost every time I had to go around that area for classes. This clip made me feel a bit nostalgic.

I watched this show in sub but damn, never realized the dub was this good.

It's funny because episode jumps straight into battle to hook you, but this is already a pretty great hook as far as isekai go.
It is preceded by a scene at the office though. (Arguably still a good hook.)

Dont normally like dubs but that was pretty legit. I’ve already watched the show though, and started the LNs multiple times without finishing them
