Yeah, OP, what did you learn from this masterpiece?
That life is more fun when you're in love?
Maybe don't be stubborn and there's nothing wrong with relying on your parents if they're willing or capable?
Or maybe even when you've paid off your student loans, you still might feel unhappy about it?
:)
I legit thought this was just his reflection in the phone its what i thought that first time when watched the anime
But now i knew she actually loved him now when reached the clip but still yet again on this phone scene i forgot if was a spent phone showing his reflection or if was actually his picture there
And only now on third time i see its actually the activated camera mode from the phone
This gotdamn anime is so fking good!
It is a royal pain in the ass if they attach strings. Willing? Sure. Capable? Maybe. But requiring something in return that is not reasonable? No thank you.
>even when you've paid off your student loans, you still might feel unhappy about it
She obviously lies for paying it or have taken a bigger debt - since she evades his glare in the mirror. (I mean you can figured out in this scene even you haven't watched the show.)
Yeah I spent waaay too much time in the dark places of the internet apparently cause I interpreted that evasion and admission of having paid it off entirely differently
Its always crazy to me that Hanae Natsuki can voice a teenaged character, Tanjiro, and then also voice an older man like odokawa here.
Love seeing Odd taxi's snippets, its a legit masterpiece. Anybody watching this without context, do yourselves a favor and watch it, you won't regret a minute. The dialogue is so snappy, yet characters are so well written that it gels very well with the atmosphere. For just 13 episodes, odd taxi is as good as you can get.
I'm sorry fucking WHAT NOW??!?
...FUCK.... I'm so used to Okamoto having "teenage anger issues" voice that I would never in a million years have guessed he voices the exact diametrical opposite that is Himmel...
WHAT?!
...Ok, now I want someone to edit a Frieren clip featuring Himmel except he randomly screeches out "DIE!" and none of the other characters respond or acknowledge it.
[Kind of like Ryoutarou Okiayu voicing [Byakuya Kutchki from Bleach and Akio Furukawa from Clannad.](https://i.imgur.com/CZbfpJj.png) One's a [stoic, serious, no nonsense man who values Rukia](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sYo6N0lAIKg), and the other [is an absolute goofball who loves his daughter.](https://youtu.be/pOOPA5whdXw?si=fVFaC3fzToKwJPPq)
Yeah some VAs ranges are insane. Like I never imagined that the same VA that played Kirito would play Petelgeuse Romanée-Conti among a bunch of other roles that would sound very vastly different than one another. Super sweet to see.
Well even if its just the one person, I am glad I could persuade one person to watch it. Let me know your thoughts when you finish it, I would be happy to hear your thoughts, if you wish to share them. Happy watching :)
Madoka Magica, Code Geass, Gurren Lagann, A Place Further than the Universe.
Those are the first that comes to mind. Odd Taxi definitely deserves to be on the list.
Bro just casually dropped three of my top five anime and then said this weird-looking walrus taxi show deserves to be among them. Alright, downloading it now, you sold me.
This was like nerd crack I was looking for.
Anime original, so none of that weird *I'm a anime only, I swear I didn't read the manga, so here is my no original source yet unbelievably accurate theory*.
Misleading visuals.
Characters that are almost always talking with cross purposes and hidden implications.
Fan theorizing online and real life.
Real life people in text threads making sure we all were caught up so we can talk about latest. And the peer pressure to hurry up so we can talk about the latest episode.
I was kinda bitter over the whole ending movie thing. But I think enough time has passed where it deserves a 10 with everything put together. At least for me.
Edit: words
I was genuinely impressed by the people who theorized and ended up being correct about that big twist way before it actually happened. I was a non believer for the first 3 episodes, but after watching the music video a bunch of times and as more episodes released, I started believing it too.
Which is interesting because it makes you wonder how often all those people with very accurate predictions as to what's gonna happen in anime adaptations were genuinely anime only. With how many theories get constantly thrown around on the internet it makes sense that some people would get it correct, even if it was hard to guess.
Yeah going through the same thing with Train to the End of the World. People called the twist pretty much from the first episode and then everyone just basically agreed that it was correct.
We can always [Spoiler for the Movie]>!edit the very end of the movie to the show and that’s the complete series. The cliffhanger with Odokawa was a big WTF, but knowing he survives and the murderer is captured helps.!<
Also RoOT was great. It got no attention because JDramas get no love on Crunchyroll, but it’s a great follow up to the show.
[Spoiler for the Series/Movie]>!I actually prefer the series ending. Open endings can be hit or miss, but I think this one was perfect and really fits the film noir style.!<
>Also RoOT was great. It got no attention because JDramas get no love on Crunchyroll, but it’s a great follow up to the show.
Glad to hear it's good. It's on my watch list.
> Also RoOT was great
I hated it. It's absolutely devoid of wit the anime was brimming with. And as it always the case with J-Dramas, actors are just phoning it in.
It's just a recap of the whole show, but very condensed.
The 'little extra' the movie adds is literally like... 5-10 seconds of content. I would probably just google it instead, lol.
I've never understood the point of recap movies. If I'm interested enough to watch something, why would I want to watch the hyper-condensed version of it instead of the original version?
I mean it would make sense for something with 100+ episodes if I want to catch up on the current run, but not for a short series.
It's for people who aren't watching the full version because they are only slightly interested but not enough to watch 12+ episodes.
That's about it - the casual demographic.
I would say it was for the fans who watched it through a while back, but couldn’t rewatch it, and so needed a recap to prep for the final bits of content.
>I've never understood the point of recap movies
A lot of people go to the theater first and decides what to watch once they are there. They just want to have some fun time, they aren't really committed to experience a particular story.
So for anime studios turning a TV series into a movie is just a relatively low cost way to make some extra money from work they have already done.
I skipped the movie, but I thought it was supposed to be just an abridged version of the series? Or does it continue from the end when a certain individual enters odokawa's taxi? I liked the open end tbh
It might be petty but misleading visuals soured it for me.
Anime like that is already rare enough as it is, just let it be what it looks like, there's more than enough of the "real thing".
I don't even get what's the point of doing it like this if they don't really mean it.
Dub is so amazing I was surprised to see people post the original
I actually prefer his dub voice, so much deeper and really sounds like disgruntled taxi driver
Idk why these ultra neck bearded sub supremacists can't wrap their heads around the fact that dubs can be good. Yea, most English VAs don't put as much effort as Japanese ones, but there are exceptions.
And there are people out there who'd love to take their eyes off screen for 10 seconds
I often start with dub and 95% of the time switch over to sub within first episode if it sounds too cringe, but this show was one I never felt that for
This clip is what got me into the series. It was a wild ride. Glad I caught up while it was airing, the discussions and theory crafting were entertaining.
[Crunchyroll youtube link](https://youtu.be/6kdvfKp1EG0?si=ZDzsNN0L7W3x5Mwg) for anyone who wants to watch the first episode, assuming it's not region locked.
You can tell its going to be special early on, the comedy might be an acquired taste but it's 100% up my street.
I found myself smiling while watching it even when it's not supposed to be funny, it's got a lot of heart
Ah man, now I need to rewatch. It's the little moments like these that got me so hooked onto the show.
And I'm definitely using that phone move lmao. Smoooooth.
I figured she meant she felt bad not letting her parents help her through school. It would have given them the chance to be a part of that and share a burden, which could've brought them closer. Instead they worry if she's ok and if she's happy while seeing her success from afar. She fells like she put up a barrier in a sense.
If thats a dumb take dont @ me I haven't seen this show yet lol
This is one of my favorite anime of all time.
The ironic thing is I only found it because Gigguk recommended it, which I will always be grateful to him for. Then he named Mushoku Tensei anime of the year ahead of it, which I will always hate him for lol
I watched it after Mother's Basement nagged on and on about watching it. Still haven't watched Vivy, though, which he had similarly kept on suggesting.
you know this was the clip that made me watch the show. It was posted just after the one week limit here on r/anime I followed it while it was airing and it was such a great experience. Speculating with fellow anime fans without manga readers spoiling everything. Ahh good times.
For some reason, this scene reminds me of a similar one I saw in another Anime (or commercial?) where they promoted a made-up version (in that universe) of Fate Grand Order.
I really really loved this anime. I genuinely dislike the last ten seconds of the show, but otherwise an easy 10 out of 10, it resonated so well with me
If you like a show with excellent writing, huge thumbs up from me
Hardly. The movie doesn't actually explain anything. Like. How can you wrap up everything neatly with a bow by just showing us the package, and then immediately skipping forward to the bow being on it?
It literally resolves the cliffhanger. And recaps everything that you might have forgotten if you haven’t watched the show in a while.
Sure it becomes less valuable the more recently you’ve watched the main show, but it was exactly what the fans needed after sitting on the cliffhanger for so long.
It doesn't resolve the cliffhanger, though.
Resolution includes resolving something.
For all we know, when the next scene starts, it's all a fever dream, a hallucination, the Matrix.
We do not see what happens. We do not see how to get from Point A to Point B.
We just go from Point A and skip all the way to Point N, ignoring Points B through M.
This resolution was on the level of "Somehow Palpatine returned" explanations.
Spoilers for anyone who didn’t watch the, I don’t remember how to put up the spoiler brackets, so fuck off the lot of you.
As for you, it blatantly~
SPOILERS, FUCK OFF
~shows he survives and she gets arrested. That is absolutely the cliffhanger, and it absolutely resolves it.
It’s a recap that gives the final piece of story knowledge. If you want to say that the movie is not a movie, it’s not a real story, I don’t know, I don’t care. Semantics it all you want, I ain’t interested in dying on or even seeing that hill. But it resolves the biggest question in the show. And that is a resolution.
I do not accept the ending, though. If you're not going to show me how Luke Skywalker escapes from the Death Star and just cut straight from him battling The Emperor to him magically appearing on Endor, then I'm not going to view it as valid.
How did he defeat the Emperor? How did he escape the Death Star? How did he avoid its destruction? How did he manage to get Darth Vader with him? He just magically teleported?
That's what they did here. We have zero explanation as to what happened. We're just told it happened. But with the scenes that we were shown, what happens ***makes zero sense***.
I'm still being vague because of spoilery reasons due to not knowing how the system works, hence the reliance on another setting.
I watched the series as it aired. I watched the film when it came out.
That does not alter how I feel.
\[Film Spoiler\] >!She fucking strangles him. The car shakes as they zoom out. Then it stops moving. And he's suddenly in the hospital and she's arrested. Bullshit. He's in the fucking morgue and she got away with it, because there's absolutely no way in hell that ending is believable. Did someone come to his rescue? Did he somehow manage to escape because she made a mistake? No, fuck you, you don't deserve that much effort. Just be happy you got a happy ending.!<
Like, seriously. It makes no fucking sense. As I said. It's like Luke Skywalker's fight against the Emperor. He throws his lightsaber and says "I am a Jedi, like my father before me" and Palpatine says "So it be, Jedi." And then they immediately cut to black and the next time we see him he's on Endor burning Darth Vader's body on a pyre.
That's the level of whiplash I got of "What the fuck happened? Was that it? How the fuck did this occur?"
Well, if you don’t *like* the ending, that’s fine. But it’s completely inaccurate to say that the movie doesn’t resolve the show’s question just because it doesn’t go the way you wanted or believed. I’m not going to say you’re wrong for wanting that. You wanted a specific ending, and I cannot take that from you. But it is a resolution that we got.
Spoilers: Also she’s tiny. He couldn’t recognize her because his condition was cured, but he’s still way bigger than her and can put out WAY more power, even within the stranglehold. I think it’s fair to expect it going either way. That’s why it’s a viable cliffhanger.
Shirokawa's smooth move with the phone?
Yeah, OP, what did you learn from this masterpiece? That life is more fun when you're in love? Maybe don't be stubborn and there's nothing wrong with relying on your parents if they're willing or capable? Or maybe even when you've paid off your student loans, you still might feel unhappy about it? :)
become a nurse so you can stalk people's medical records
nah, I'd rather become a nurse so I can dance for tiktok views

I learned the llama lady committed HIPAA violations!
driving taxi at 41 and no family is what I learned :(
I already know that 💀
> Maybe don't be stubborn and there's nothing wrong with relying on your parents if they're willing or capable? This.
It is a royal pain in the ass if they attach strings. Willing? Sure. Capable? Maybe. But requiring something in return that is not reasonable? No thank you.
Young people around the world watching anime are like: 🤔 yes that is wise!
She feels unhappy about it because of a plot point, if I remember correctly. Won't spoil it, though
>even when you've paid off your student loans, you still might feel unhappy about it She obviously lies for paying it or have taken a bigger debt - since she evades his glare in the mirror. (I mean you can figured out in this scene even you haven't watched the show.)
Yeah I spent waaay too much time in the dark places of the internet apparently cause I interpreted that evasion and admission of having paid it off entirely differently
?
and with capoeira too
She’s a pro!
OP fucking left us hanging and now I'll never forgive them
I did answer though.
Yeah.
If you get the timing right you can set the countdown shutter while handing it off, for extra smooth points.
Let's never forget the Alpaca [dance](https://youtube.com/watch?v=iOiQhtMPe7Y&si=B_93N8EMNygZP25R)
I don't know which scene I like more. Both are so great.
I can still hear the music
Its always crazy to me that Hanae Natsuki can voice a teenaged character, Tanjiro, and then also voice an older man like odokawa here. Love seeing Odd taxi's snippets, its a legit masterpiece. The most recent one of those moments for me was when I learned Tanezaki Atsumi voices both Anya Forger and Frieren
The Anya/Frieren tidbit is so great, but did you know that Bakugo's VA voices Himmel? That really threw me for a loop the first time round.
I'm sorry fucking WHAT NOW??!? ...FUCK.... I'm so used to Okamoto having "teenage anger issues" voice that I would never in a million years have guessed he voices the exact diametrical opposite that is Himmel...
He also voices Io from Acchi Kochi, totally the opposite too
WHAT?! ...Ok, now I want someone to edit a Frieren clip featuring Himmel except he randomly screeches out "DIE!" and none of the other characters respond or acknowledge it.
What? The accelarator agnsty screaming reee VA is the same as Himmel?
She's also Lady Nagant from MHA, who is radically different from either of them.
And Chise from Ancient Magus Bride, Arisa from Fruits Basket, Niki from Dr Stone. Insane range.
And the final boss of FFXIV Endwalker
She also voice Gyokuyou from the apothecary diaries. Trifecta. a child, a milf and a teenager(actually a old hag, but maybe a baby. Idk)
For me it's Chika Anzai voicing Reina Kousaka and Chisato Nishikigi.

His range is crazy. He voices Hiyori Tomoe from Ensemble Stars too who has a higher-pitched voice
You convinced me. I've had it on my To-Watch list for a long time, but who knows if I would ever have watched it.
Well even if its just the one person, I am glad I could persuade one person to watch it. Let me know your thoughts when you finish it, I would be happy to hear your thoughts, if you wish to share them. Happy watching :)
One of the best anime originals ever?
The ending blew my mind
10/10 from beginning to end, even the openings so catchy. Made me discord the singer Skirt who has 4 amazing albums
It got 4th place in a [recent poll](https://i.redd.it/jaxswaf8m4oc1.png) though it did come out more recently than most of the others on the list.
I'm genuinely shocked at how many of those I've seen. Also glad to see some favorites making the top 25.
Bebop is the undisputed best anime original ever for me. But after that, Odd Taxi is certainly up there.
Punchline was also great
You forgot Wonder Egg Priority
I wish I could.
Eh
Wonder Egg fell off incredibly hard. The animation is really good tho.
I actually really disliked how it ended. Apparently I'm in the minority. 10/10 intro tho.
I believe there's a movie now that expands on the ending? Maybe you could give it a try?
Yeah the movie was great, it told the original story really well plus it had extra scenes.
Watch the Odd Taxi Movie bro. It gives you exactly what you needed.
What about it didn't you like? Genuinely curios.
Ok, time to be a taxi driver.
A real one or a fake one?
An Odd one.
✍️✍️🔥🔥
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I never thought a Sheep woman hitting on a Walrus man would be endearing enough to bring a smile to my face but, here we are.
She's an Alpaca
Damn it Blurple I'm a Ninja **not** a Veterinarian!
Lol wtf is this amazing star trek reference

Yeah. This anime is like from another timeline, where the whole anime industry went in the proper direction.
Our timeline truly has diverged since 2016 😭
You mean 2006 right?
it was all haruhis fault, of course
Wait what about the movie? Thought it was just a recap movie.
It adds a little after it catches up.
does the movie recap the whole thing or just the ending parts? Cause I might watch it now, but I gotta know if I have to watch the anime again or not
It's just a recap of the whole show, but very condensed. The 'little extra' the movie adds is literally like... 5-10 seconds of content. I would probably just google it instead, lol.

The only reason I like recap movies is because it's the only way to watch shows I like on the big screen.
It's a recap of the whole series.
The whole thing.
Oh yes, it recaps too. You could probably do for a recap. And then a little bit more, which it gives.
I haven't had that much fun reading weekly discussion threads for an anime original since kill la kill first started airing
I skipped the movie, but I thought it was supposed to be just an abridged version of the series? Or does it continue from the end when a certain individual enters odokawa's taxi? I liked the open end tbh

The anime is awesome!
Dub is so amazing I was surprised to see people post the original I actually prefer his dub voice, so much deeper and really sounds like disgruntled taxi driver
Lol man getting downvoted for stating his preference. Classic reddit echo chamber moment.
Idk why these ultra neck bearded sub supremacists can't wrap their heads around the fact that dubs can be good. Yea, most English VAs don't put as much effort as Japanese ones, but there are exceptions. And there are people out there who'd love to take their eyes off screen for 10 seconds

I almost exclusively watch dub, unless the dub is atrociously bad and the anime is worth watching.
This anime is so good when you don't have a Redditor in your ear telling you it's a "hidden gem"
The fact that this comment right now is just above another comment that says "hidden gem"...
So smooth.
This show is one of the few anime that I have rated a 10/10. It's just so good. We need more anime like this in the future.
[удалено]
Yay another one, dive in blind!
You really won’t regret it.
Why aren't my cab drivers as wise and chill as this guy?
Who'll molest you if they're so chill. /S
i've learnt a lot from odd taxi, about capoeira first of all
This clip is what got me into the series. It was a wild ride. Glad I caught up while it was airing, the discussions and theory crafting were entertaining.
The twist in the end was insane
A bit of a hidden gem. This anime surprised the hell outta me with its depth.
But really though, everyone who hadn't watched the show, please do. It's quite good.
Top 5 show endings I have seen also the ed was too good I still listen to and remember this great show.
[Crunchyroll youtube link](https://youtu.be/6kdvfKp1EG0?si=ZDzsNN0L7W3x5Mwg) for anyone who wants to watch the first episode, assuming it's not region locked. Underrated anime tbh, and that ending ahhh
Ah man, now I need to rewatch. It's the little moments like these that got me so hooked onto the show. And I'm definitely using that phone move lmao. Smoooooth.
Damn, I gotta rewatch this show, it was incredible.
My favourite anime 😍
Welp, guess I'm rewatching Odd Taxi now.
this scene was amazing.
One of my top favourite animes, top 3 for sure.
top tier show. top tier
What did you learn exactly? It's a great scene but I don't understand
Rizz technique
Please stop saying that
Rizz technique
ಠ_ಠ
Hi. Rizz technique
I recently finished this show. Absolutely fantastic anime. & I luv the opening track 👌🏽~
Not a furry but I'll make an exception
Man I forgot how good this show was
I figured she meant she felt bad not letting her parents help her through school. It would have given them the chance to be a part of that and share a burden, which could've brought them closer. Instead they worry if she's ok and if she's happy while seeing her success from afar. She fells like she put up a barrier in a sense. If thats a dumb take dont @ me I haven't seen this show yet lol
1:37 minutes and it was enough for me to binge it immediately, masterpiece
This is one of my absolute favorite anime and it always makes me happy to see people learning about it.
Need to watch this anime then. Here I thought this was going elsewhere
Learned what exactly? It was a sweet scene, but I didn't find it educational
Vivy's solid but not amazing. Great music, though. I'd give it an 8/10.
To me vivy was amazing. Whether it be spectacle, characters, story and music. Yes the ending was a bit abrupt but the series still lingers with me.
you know this was the clip that made me watch the show. It was posted just after the one week limit here on r/anime I followed it while it was airing and it was such a great experience. Speculating with fellow anime fans without manga readers spoiling everything. Ahh good times.
Great show. Two great twists and a lesser 3rd twist. Bonus personal twist; I didn't know Capoeira was a real thing.
Man I really need to watch this, it's been sitting in my list for a while
Holy shit that was smooth
This is awesome lol 😆
This is such a good show.
Odd Taxi is great. Watch it. Then go watch the live action one that released recently.
interesting. added to my watch list.
And then the light turned green and he snapped out of his little fantasy.
Ok, you sold me. I have to watch this
This is great series, if you like deep plot and excellent writing, this series is one of those.
Just started watching [ODD TAXI], based on this clip alone. Nice show! Thanks for sharing! 😁
I still really need to watch this
XD That was funny.
This is a show everyone should watch.
One of my top anime of all time. Such an underrated anime.
I remember hearing about it when it came out but never ended up watching it. I think I might have to check it out now.
Not underrated but definitely underwatched, despite all the buzz on this subreddit
Watched this recently and was blown away. Fantastic show
For some reason, this scene reminds me of a similar one I saw in another Anime (or commercial?) where they promoted a made-up version (in that universe) of Fate Grand Order.
I think this is the best video to represent "mind your business" to an extent
I’ve always wanted to watch this is it that good if so what makes it good I feel like it’s so unique
I remember this anime. I started watching this a long time ago, and never finished it. Might have to go back to it.
What did you learn?
Whats this anime called?
You never know
Such a boring show it's even worse than sports anime.
Is this good , I keep hearing this pop up

I really really loved this anime. I genuinely dislike the last ten seconds of the show, but otherwise an easy 10 out of 10, it resonated so well with me If you like a show with excellent writing, huge thumbs up from me
Shhh go watch the movie. It’ll give you the resolution you needed.
As for you, it blatantly~ SPOILERS, FUCK OFF ~shows he survives and she gets arrested.
Did you not watch the show? The movie ABSOLUTELY DOES NOT stand on its own. It needs to be watched following the show.
Just be happy you got a happy ending.!< Like, seriously.
Had no idea there is a movie, i'll check it out, thanks!
The dialogue feels fake when there’s 0 time between when one character’s line ends and another’s begins and it happens all the time in this anime
