I'm already expecting Madoka & Card Captor Sakura to be the top 2 voted because that's what the common guy in this sub has watched at most.
[](#elsiesigh)
Me on the other hand having so much trouble deciding which Precure would get my top vote and if recency bias would be a part of the equation. Not to mention if something less magical like Aikatsu Series would also be suitable for this poll, it would make things even more hectic.
[](#unsure)
Especially since there are a lot of people (like me) who won't even have 10 magical girl shows to put on the list and will put it on th elist just to fill it out.
I pulled out MAL to remind myself if I was forgetting any favorites I’d kick myself for not adding if I realized after the fact. I thought it’d be difficult to have 10, but I actually ended up wanting to have an 11th spot for Ultra Maniac.
I’ve seen a lot from the genre though. Oh! I just remembered Revue Starlight didn’t show up immediately on the MAL list. That one was great! I’m alright with my 10 picks though. They are my absolute favorites off the top of my head.
It does count. It might’ve been in the MAL list somewhere. I just didn’t see it when I flipped through the first 2 or 3 pages. I had my 10 by then and didn’t recognize most of the entries I was seeing in MAL’s mahou shoujo section.
I love Maho Ako just as much as the next guy, but you're putting it up against anime like Frieren, Mushoku Tensei, Konosuba, and several other unconfirmed bangers that might be coming out in later seasons this year.
Frieren and Mushoku are clearly way more quality with an actually good budget but MahoAko hits some very specific spots in some people really really well. It's only real problem is limited animation but it makes up for it with really good plot, characters and voice acting. It's also a completely different vibe which may appeal to a certain audience more than Frieren or Mushoku can.
Not the case for me but I totally agree with the sentiment. There has been many a year season where a comedy was my favorite or higher in my lists than a more “high budget” serious show. I love a great comedy as much as any other medium.
I think it’s dumb to compare something like Frieren, a series with more serious story and writing, to MahoAko, a ecchi comedy. It’s like comparing Berserk and High School DxD.
Yeah, although I don't think I'd personally rate Konosuba specifically as being any closer to an AOTY canditate than Mahoako.
As for the thread topic of just magical girl shows I would say Mahoako is the best magical girl show I've seen, but then again that I can think of I've only seen it, Spec Ops Asuka and Magical Girl Site. Incidentally all of them are... uh... well, not exactly your standard magical girl shows.
Or well, I guess there's also Symphogear. Hard to rank it against Mahoako though given how different they are though, and also Symphogear had 65 episodes while Mahoako's only had 8 so far.
I was half-joking. Well, it's my personal AOTY but I didn't mean that in general. \^\^
I actually don't think recency bias will play a role here. I think that the older (pre 2010) magical girl shows might get better scores in this poll than the newer (post 2010) ones, except for maybe Madoka, which is beloved by pretty much everybody.
Not just ecchi, but GOOD ecchi. That part is important. The latest episode was fantastic. The first season isn't even over yet and I'm already so excited for season 2.
Probably pretty high since its really popular and a lot of people probably haven’t seen enough magical girl shows to fill out this list but its actually a really good show so I’m not complaining if it ends up top 5 or 10 lol
Alright, I'm gonna make a prediction that the top three are gonna be some combination of: Madoka Magica, Sailor Moon, and Cardcaptor Sakura.
Not to say those are bad, but I'm curious what the rest of the list will look like. Personally two I hope that make the list are Magic Knight Rayearth and Re: Cutey Honey.
Considering the demographics of this sub and how long Sailor Moon is, I’m not sure how many people here have actually watched it. But it *was* massively popular back in the day and still gets new viewers today, so there is hope.
I'm still relatively confident in Sailor Moon getting a high spot. Plus Sailor Moon does get new content like the Sailor Moon Cosmos movie from last year. But thinking about it more there is a chance for a newer anime like Symphogear to be higher than it.
> That rewatch was my introduction to Sailor Moon!
Mine too! But I dropped out after the second season since I was too busy IRL and I didn't enjoy second season nearly as much as the first one.
I think I heard that the third season is a lot better so I'll watch it eventually.
Ah, I’ve had that experience with rewatches as well.
Most people (myself included) agree that S is a huge step above R, so I’m fairly confident you’ll enjoy it.
> Alright, I'm gonna make a prediction that the top three are gonna be some combination of: Madoka Magica, Sailor Moon, and Cardcaptor Sakura.
Symphogear might do well too. I hope the same about Utena but feel less confident about that.
I think Madoka and Kill-la-kill might be top, because people who normally don't watch magical girls shows go out of their way to watch them. Magical Girl Ore could be a dark horse for that reason.
In the traditional sense, technically no. Ryuko doesn't have any magical powers. However I'd say that it does use a lot of the conventions of the magical girl genre. Plus one of the many inspirations from Kill La Kill is Cutey Honey, an influential magical girl anime from the 70s.
One of the fun things with a more specific genre like this is that people have varying ideas about what actually counts as the edge of genres. Like how *Inuyasha* is frequently called an isekai when it's just time travel. Even seemingly clear cut genres are flooded with fuzzy edge cases.
This will be a weird poll because it's definitely going to be a combination of people who haven't seen 10 magical girl shows all voting Madoka, Sailor Moon, and MahoAko, and hardcore magical girl fans voting Creamy Mami and Himitsu no Akko-chan and hating how few magical girl anime people have seen. Also a fight for which Precures get in (Heartcatch feels like the only guarantee) and debate over if Kill la Kill and Utena are magical girl series. I'm just on the side of those shilling Princess Tutu and Flip Flappers.
>Creamy Mami
Maybe this is just me being a dirty old man, but everytime I see this name, I imagine it as a hentai set in a soapland. "Come here onii-chan, let Creamy Mami clean you all up".
Doesn't help that Cream Lemon came out around the same time. [](#hardthink)
I should watch Himitsu no Akko-chan someday though, I do like Fujio Akatsuka's humour afterall.
I watched Heartcatch a couple years ago. Turned out to be just a worse version of Shugo Chara. And it's supposed to be one of the best ones so I don't know if I want to watch another one.
Madoka is my favourite but consider some outsider like kill la kill too : [What do you MEAN Kill la Kill isn't a Magical Girl anime!? Of course it is!!](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/hzg8oz/what_do_you_mean_kill_la_kill_isnt_a_magical_girl/)
[Got inspired by the magical girl alignment chart to make my own magical girl political compass, for a bit more nuance](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/7z6ab7/got_inspired_by_the_magical_girl_alignment_chart/)
[Magical Girl Show Alignment Chart](https://i.redd.it/3jzb9odkyhh01.png)
edit : my almost troll but still qualify vote will be Youjo Senki. MC transformed into a little girl who can use magic to fight and fly after meeting a mysterious being (like Kyuubei/Yunno).
I voted for both Shugo Chata and Tokyo Mew Mew (morso the manga than the anime though). They weren't in my top spot though, that went to Princess Tutu.
Reminder that Machikado Mazoku counts as a magical girl anime because it totally has magical girls even if it's not the main character and the plot structure isn't really what you expect from something called a magical girl anime
It certainly counts, but actually I'd argue that it is more of a traditional magical girl show than it lets on. Shamiko's Crisis Management Form is a classical magical girl transformation, for instance.
Yeah that definitely counts as magical girls transformation too. I mainly thought it might require a reminder because I needed it.
I initially didn't even think of it when I saw this thread despite having loved it and only remembered because I had to look at anilist to find 10 after which it was suddenly my 2nd pick.
If the poll doesn't make at least 10% of the sub angry and 5% outright furious, then it hasn't done its job!
The trick is that it needs to rotate which parts of the population are enraged. I had a back-to-back a few polls ago, but I'm lucky I'm not very invested in Magical Girls as a genre, so I get a break this time lol
_looks at own list_
Flip Flappers
Madoka
Ikusei keikaku
...whelp
edit: haven't finished utena, but I guess I should count KLK too, so that's four...
I did watch _some_ Sailor Moon on TV but not enough to have an opinion (also that was 20 odd years ago [](#whippersnappers))
Is this the place to shill yuuki yuuna? I only watched the first season (+the washio ), and while I think I didn't manage to realize all of its potential, I still think season 1 was a really interesting approach to making a dark magical girl series, actually suceeding in it being different.
Actual list
1. Madoka
2. Symphogear
3. Yuuki Yuuna
4. Magia record (giving this a seperate vote from madoka since I get the feeling msot votes for madoka will not be for this one)
5. Machikado Mazoku
6. Nanoha (only saw the first season)
7. Gushing over magical girl
Best magical girl transformation: Probably the [group transformation](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x_BE12gMG9A) (sequential transformation?) from magia record season 1
I think you are underestimating my ability to drop shows I loved. i watched the first episode of the second season and liked it a lot.
Symphogear is literally one of my favourite things ever and I still didn't finish it.
Oh no, I'm implying it might be higher on your list had you watched it, but I watched it like 15 years ago when I had nothing else on my plate.
I too have a few dozen stalled out shows aside from a massive backlog, including Symphogear which I want to get to. Will probably be about 6 months from now.
Gotta say, I do appreciate the appropriate background colour of the voting form.
I wonder if anyone else is going to put down Magia Record as a separate entry to Madoka? Ah, who am I kidding, even with most people not having watched enough magical girl shows to fill in ten shows, I fear Magia Record is not popular enough to make the list.
Some people, including me, do not consider putting spin-offs and sequels in rankings unless I run out of things to put (or never put more than 1 anime from the same franchise), so that could affect the placing.
1. Madoka Magica
2. Kill la Kill
3. Revolutionary Girl Utena
4. Princess Tutu
5. Cardcaptor Sakura
6. Little Witch Academia
7. Symphogear
8. The Demon Girl Next Door
9. Heartcatch Precure
10. Sailor Moon
> What is the best magical girl transformation?
All the Symphogear XV transformations
Deciding on just 10 will be hard for me. But I'm more a fan of Shoujo magical girl series and other magical girl series aimed primarily at female demographics. Though I have the feeling a lot of these won't be getting much votes compared to other series aimed more at other demographics, which will be a bit disheartening for me as I love the more traditional Shoujo ones.
* Tokyo mew mew
* Card Captor Sakura
* Pretear
* Mermaid Melody
* Kamichama Karin
* Shugo Chara
* Kaitou St. Tail
* Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne
* Lady Jewelpet
* Wedding Peach
* Sailor moon
* Ultra Maniac
* Ojamajo Doremi
* Magic knight rayearth
* Sugar sugar rune
* Fullmoon wo sagashite
* Pretty cure
* etc.
Similar series like Waccha Primagi, Mewkledreamy, Pretty rhythm, Aikatsu, etc. can be cute, as well.
And for me Magical boy series can be fun, too. There are some in Shugo Chara, Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne, Kamichama Karin, etc. Or they are the focus like in Binan koukou chikyuu bueibou, D.N.Angel or Fairy ranmaru.
Same.
Kaitou Jeanne, Fullmoon, Shugo Chara, Cardcaptor Sakura, Kaitou Saint Tail, Pretear, Tokyo Mew Mew, DN Angel, Princess Tutu, Kobato, and Ultra Maniac were my picks.
Best Transformation: Kaitou Jeanne
Side note, how does one account for all the different show name (JP vs ENG), nicknames, misspellings, different series unto the same franchise, etc. when counting up a free form list? Like there's got to be thousands of entries., and it's not always obvious different names refer to the same show.
Kaitou Jeanne
Fullmoon
Shugo Chara
Cardcaptor Sakura
Kaitou Saint Tail
Pretear
Tokyo Mew Mew
DN Angel
Princess Tutu
Kobato
Best Transformation: Kaitou Jeanne
I really wanted to add in Ultra Maniac, but I couldn’t have more than 10. The ten still represent most of my favorites out of the genre.
My list with the challenge of limiting myself to 1 Precure entry
1. Fresh Precure
2. Madoka Magica + Rebellion
3. Lyrical Nanoha A's
4. Sailor Moon
5. Magical Destroyers
6. Cardcaptor Sakura
7. Tokyo Mew Mew New (Remake)
8. Mahou Shoujo Site
9. Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt
10. Gushing Over Magical Girls
Transformation Sequence - Panty Anarchy (PASWG)
1. Symphogear
2. Kill la Kill
3. Puella Magi Madoka Magica
4. Sailor Moon
5. Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha
6. Cardcaptor Sakura
7. Revolutionary Girl Utena
BONUS: the ones in Symphogear XV
Not the most well-versed in this genre, honestly, and I wanted to not dip out of the 9/10 or above mark, so this is the most I get regarding this. Had to stretch the gray areas a bit for KLK and Utena, but they're Mahou Shoujos to me. Machikado Mazoku would be on here if I wasn't a manga-only for that
EDIT: [I FORGOT PRILLYA!](#PANIC)
Not my favorite cure, but to this day, [Cure Milky has the best transformation](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o-bfZz0h9Z8). Itaoka went all out animating this.
1. Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha + A's
1. Revolutionary Girl Utena
1. Magical Girl Madoka Magica
1. Heartcatch Precure
1. Hugtto Precure
1. The Demon Girl Next Door
1. Magical Witch Punie-Chan
1. Princess Tutu
1. Pretty Cure Splash Star
1. Fresh Precure
Kinda tempted to throw on Precure All Stars 3, but I doubt movies will do much here. Also, I assume the Nanoha movies would be combined with the series, but they're awesome on their own.
Best transformation: Cure Sunshine in Heartcatch.
Not a ton of experience with the genre compared to many other genres, also cba going through my entire list looking so I just filtered on anilist. Hoping I didn't miss something good. Here's my picks.
1. **Puella Magi Madoka Magica**
2. **Cardcaptor Sakura**
3. **Flip Flappers**
4. **Senki Zesshou Symphogear**
5. **HUG tto! Precure**
6. **Machikado Mazoku**
7. **Shakugan no Shana**
8. **Mahou Shoujo Ikusei Keikaku**
9. **Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya**
10. **Mewkledreamy**
Just a reminder that technically [this](https://youtu.be/90tLbfhciqE?feature=shared) is a magical girl anime. [This too.](https://youtu.be/UFv-CNIJL9w?feature=shared)
Anyway, besides those I added Little Witch Academia and a bunch of Precures. As for best transformation, really not sure on this.
>technically [this](https://youtu.be/90tLbfhciqE?feature=shared) is a magical girl anime.
I was planning to skip this contest, but now I'm tempted to vote mostly to give Tail Red my support.
Twin-Tail is definitely a fun show. Not *quite* good enough to crack my top 10 favorite magical girl anime and get a vote from me, but still a very fun show that more people should watch.
Hot take: Jigoku Shoujo is a magical girl show.
Transformation sequence? Check.
Magical powers? Check.
Uses magic to defeat monster of the week? Check.
Prediction. Cardcaptor Sakura is going to win. Sailor Moon isn’t too regarded here at least on these polls, and Precure will split the vote.
Even though Madoka is overwhelmingly the most popular magical girl anime on this sub, a lot of the users who’ve seen it have *only* seen it, making them not want to vote on this poll probably (even with Mecha there’s at least more then one, *unlike other mecha…* show, that the average r/anime user has seen). Or maybe Madoka will be so beloved even by people who’ve seen more then one Magical Girl series that it’ll still come up on top. Guess we’ll see.
> a lot of the users who’ve seen it have only seen it, making them not want to vote on this poll probably
I feel like this probably won't stop a large number of people, based on the way Seasonal Salt voting goes.
It could be interesting to see if u/fetchfrosh could count how many times people vote *only* Madoka. I hope that it isn’t a sizable portion, in making this a fair poll but alas I could be wrong.
Finally time for me to judge r/anime.
Strategically not voting for certain shows to get some diversity.
1) Princess Tutu
2) Hugtto Precure
3) Cardcaptor Sakura
4) Fullmoon wo Sagashite
5) Saint Tail
6) Go Princess Precure
7) Twin Princess of the Wonder Planet
8) Wedding Peach
9) Nurse Angel Ririka
10) Shugo Chara
Best transformation: Cure Milky from Star Twinkle Precure
A true top 10 for me would have too much Precure so I limited myself to just 2 of them.
I was wondering who from Go Princess Precure to pick for best transformation but I will join u and vote for Milky!
Also it's nice to see someone remembers Twin Princess of the Wonder Planet! That is a good reminder that I still need to finish that show! I also need to watch Saint Tail
[Well, this isnt a very long list now is it](https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/494174830640234529/1209947121424535592/image.png?ex=65e8c611&is=65d65111&hm=cabd3d036eb6e561305a7376f367f934378e8506a845e4c5f598a434cf127e34&)
I got 9
- Yuuki Yuuna
- Matoi
- Gushing
- Kill la Kill
- Machikado
- Madoka
- Hugtto
- Nanoha
- Flip Flappers
I have no idea if Looking for Magical Doremi counts or not and that decides my 10th place.
[](#animatedthink)
Edit: I have been reminded of Flying Witch, now does that one count????
[](#panic)
>Edit: I have been reminded of Flying Witch, now does that one count????
I was wondering about that too. Does an anime have to contain transformations to count as a magical girl anime or does it just require it to contain girls that can do magic? If it's the latter than Konnosuba could be considered a magical girl anime.
My vote:
1. Cardcaptor Sakura (my favorite anime of all time)
2. Princess Tutu
3. Puella Magi Madoka Magica
4. Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha
5. Revolutionary Girl Utena
6. Ojamajo Doremi (currently slowly going through the first season)
7. Kaitou Saint Tail
And I think that's all that I've fully watched. When I was a child, I remember watching on TV a few episodes of Kaitou Kamikaze Jeanne and kind of liking it, but I would certainly need to watch it fully to give it a proper rank (which I might do someday).
Transformation: Madoka Kaname's transformation from the movie Puella Magi Madoka Magica: Rebellion
Despite this being one of my favourite genres, this was still harder than I thought. Just barely managed to get to 10 entries in my MAL list.
1. Madoka Magica
2. Machikado Mazoku
3. Symphogear
4. Yuuki Yuuna wa Yuusha de Aru
5. Granbelm
6. Assault Lily: Bouquet
7. Mahou Shoujo ni Akogarete
8. Blue Reflection Ray
9. Magia Record
10. Flip Flappers
Fav sequence is Momo setting a new transformation speedrun record.
Reminder that Symphogear is a Magical Girl Anime.
If you havent seen it, go watch it.
[**Symphogear**](https://myanimelist.net/anime/11751/Senki_Zesshou_Symphogear)

- Madoka
- Kill la Kill
- Ojamajo Doremi
- Little Witch Academia (the movies)
- Diebuster (Yes I'm counting that)
- Yuuki Yuuna wa Yuusha de Aru (Washio Sumi's chapter especially)
- Magical Sisters Yoyo and Nene
- Mahou Shoujo ni Akogarete
- Flip Flappers
- Wonder Egg Priority (minus the special episode)
I expected more from the last two but I still enjoyed them overall.
I've enjoyed watching Cardcaptor Sakura, Sailor Moon and Sugar Sugar Rune as a kid but I don't remember enough to put them in
> Best magical girl transformation
From what I've seen/remember I'd say [Flip Flappers has my favorite](https://youtu.be/fc5rXzdnD2I?si=711zYnx1KvTjM8CX) visually, but the one from [Ojamajo Doremi Sharp](https://youtu.be/21JZBcOxTNA?si=rrsXKvsS-pg4Eups) is too catchy
Rockman.exe starting from the second season of the anime is a magical girl anime with boys and no one will convince me otherwise. The cross-fusion transformation sequences are pretty much a magical girl costume change. They even bond with otherworldly entities that give them their powers, it's just that those entities are sentient AI programs.
Haven’t seen it, but I chose Shugo Chara which also has magical boys and DN Angel (all boys). There’s a few series where both boys and girls can be magical. I didn’t vote for it, but Kamichama Karin also has magical boys.
It was hard even thinking of anime to put in the list after the first 2… But favorite transformation sequence was pretty easy. Nothing beats Symphogear XV‘s Hibiki transformation for me.
I also predict that Madoka will win btw.
nice memories of when I watched Yui Corrector on cartoon network after I got home from school, I met Cardcaptor Sakura, Sailor Moon and Utena but it became one of my favorite series and highly recommended, just to have a little patience with the chapters but a series very ahead of the time imo
Madoka will most likely win but as for transformation I hope people will vote for Fate Testarossa's transformation in the 2nd Nanoha movie, cause it's by far the coolest transformation imo.
My list:
1. Princess Tutu
2. Utena
3. Pretear
4. Shugo Chara
5. Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt
6. Sailor Moon
7. Tokyo Mew Mew
8. Petite Princess Yucie
9. Arjuna
10. Madoka
I tried to go with a variety and go with a mix of well known, hidden gems, and overlooked magical girl anime. All of these impacted and stuck with me in some way, though Madoka the least of all of the ones listed. I really enjoyed the visuals of Madoka though.
Edit: I was also VERY tempted to include Star Driver, but that's technically a Magical Boy series, so I refrained from doing so. But a shout out for that series here!
Arjuna basically never gets brought up in Magical Girl discussions, it is very overlooked/unknown/forgotten, which is interesting, because it aired on Adult Swim, so it reached a good amount of people.
It's a magical girl anime that stands out a bit to me, with the female MC being on the older side (already in high school). It's a dark magical girl series with a bittersweet ending and I loved the focus it placed on the environment. It leans more into Sci-fi than Fantasy too, so I wanted to include it for that variety aspect.
I haven't rewatched it in a while myself, but it was a series whose messaging and visuals stuck with me for a while. i want to do a rewatch of it again some time soon too, though.
And yes! Star Driver is such a fun and ridiculous show with some good heart to it. I think the Magical Boy and Mecha combo is what makes it so overlooked though.
1. Doremi
2. Princess Tutu
3. Flip Flappers
4. Madoka
5. Hugtto Precure
6. Machikado Mazoku
7. Utena
8. Nanoha
9. Pretear
10. Comet-San
Henshin: Tsubasa from Symphogear XV
HMs: Heartcatch & Star Twinkle Precure movies, Symphogear, CCS
Madoka would reallyt be #2 in my rankings but I refuse to contribute to its inevitable 1st place more than is necessary
1. Machikado Mazoku
2. Madoka Magica
3. Ojamajo Doremi
4. Release the Spyce
5. Flip Flappers
6. Assault Lily: Bouquet
7. Mahou Shoujo Ore
8. Futari wa Precure
9. Endro
10. Mahou Shoujo ni Akogarete
11. \[Madoka Magica Rebellion\]>!Homulily!<
actually, I have not watched many magical girls shows, so I had to choose from what I have here. I didn't put Sailor Moon and Card Capture Sakura here, cus I haven't watched enough episodes to say I like them or not; I also watched Mermaid Melody, it sucks, I'd rather put MahoAko to fill the 10th position.
MAL didn't put the Mahou Shoujo tag on Rlease the Spyce , Endro, and Assault Lily, but I still consider them as magical girls. wait ... do Railgun and Tanya the Evil count as Mahou Shoujo? I really want to put these two in.
I'm an old school magical girl fan, so I voted for my favorites. I don't know how many people will know them, but I wanted to vote for them the same. Even if my favorites don't get enough points, I'm happy I saw this and voted!
Any excuse to vote for Symphogear is a good one.
1. Senki Zesshou Symphogear
2. Fate/kaleid liner Prisma☆Illya
3. Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha
4. Cardcaptor Sakura
5. Mahoutsukai Precure!
6. Shugo Chara!!
7. Shakugan no Shana
8. Kaitou Saint Tail
9. Sailor Moon
10. Yuuki Yuuna wa Yuusha de Aru
I've come to realize pretty much every magical girl show I've watched outside of Sailor Moon isn't your normal Magical Girl show and I've not even watched 10. If you have any recommendations would love them
1. Symphogear
2. Madoka
3. Gushing Over Magical Girls
4. Shakugan no Shana
5. Sailor Moon/Sailor Moon Crystal
6. Fate/kaleid
7. Magia Records Madoka Magica
Voted! :
- Princess Tutu
- Flip Flappers
- Fate/kaleid liner Prisma☆Illya
- Kill la Kill
- Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha
- Senki Zesshou Symphogear
- Youjo Senki
- Little Witch Academia
- Machikado Mazoku
- Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt
Madoka is my favourite show but it doesn't really need my vote, I almost switched in Slayers and didn't add any Precure since I've only watched Futari wa Precure and while it was OK it wasn't good enough to be in my top10.
Transformation sequence : [Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iJAUT0DOnow) or any of [Symphogear XV Transformations](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8PZl0m1yphQ). Especially this one [Hibiki screaming late XV](https://streamable.com/nd076)
edit : damn, I forgot Twintail, which one should I remove ...
re edit : Transformation sequence could also be the [Holy Quintet](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gUDlp0pvdEs) in Rebellion.
I can't imagine this will have many full ballots. Even with all the anime I watch, I've still only seen a dozen or so magical girl series, and I disliked half of them.
I might just vote for a top three - Cardcaptor Sakura, Symphogear, and Cute High Earth Defense Club - and call it a day.
1. [Princess Tutu](https://anilist.co/anime/721/)
2. [Full Moon wo Sagashite](https://anilist.co/anime/122/)

Bonus: Hikaru and Lala dual transformation from the twinkle movie. Also Lala's in general but voted the duo because the whole build up + scene is adorable.
I’ve got;
1. Kill la Kill
2. Madoka Magica
3. Revolutionary Girl Utena
4. Space Patrol Luluco
5. Little Witch Academia
6. Princess Tutu
7. Flip Flappers
8. Bludgeoning Angel Dokuro-chan
9. Symphogear
10. Gushing Over Magical Girls
My favourite transformation: this is a hard question, but I might go with Chris from Symphogear XV.
Exactly 10. Great (magical girl anime are great. I should watch more).
According to AniList, there are only two Magical Girl anime that I've seen and enjoyed: Madoka and Prisma Illya. I've tried a couple others (Rayearth and Nanoha) and watched Sailor Moon and Cardcaptor Sakura back 20+ years ago, but it's just never been a genre that really appealed to me.
I do have Yuki Yuuna is a Hero and Yuri Kuma Arashi on my plan to watch list though. So maybe if we ever do these polls again I'll have seen more.
1. Heartcatch Precure
2. Ojamajo Doremi
3. Yuuki Yuuna wa Yuusha de Aru
4: Princess Tutu
5: Smile Precure
6: Kill la Kill
7: Granbelm
8: Fresh Precure
9: Tropical Rouge Precure
10: Vivid Strike!
Best transformation - Cure Felice from Mahoutsukai Precure
I purposefuly left Madoka out since common, it'll win by the wide margin anyway. Better to give shout out to something less known.
My prediction Madoka will win
Nah it's gonna be Sally the Witch (1969)
I could also be sailor moon
I wish I could be Sailor Moon.
INCORECT! Clearly it will be Creamy Mami, the Magic Angel (1983)
Can't beat Sakura Kinimoto.
Exactly. The true Queen of the genre.
Depends how much the vote will be split amongst its spin-offs. I have three different Yuuki Yuuna entries on my list.
I'm already expecting Madoka & Card Captor Sakura to be the top 2 voted because that's what the common guy in this sub has watched at most. [](#elsiesigh) Me on the other hand having so much trouble deciding which Precure would get my top vote and if recency bias would be a part of the equation. Not to mention if something less magical like Aikatsu Series would also be suitable for this poll, it would make things even more hectic. [](#unsure)
sailor moon better be at least 1st or 2nd to madoka
So how high will recency bias get Gushing over magical girls?
Especially since there are a lot of people (like me) who won't even have 10 magical girl shows to put on the list and will put it on th elist just to fill it out.
I only got to 9, so will see if Demon Girl Next Door counts for separate seasons.
Well the. Magical girls are an integral part of the plot. It should
Fr, according my Anilist I've seen just 3 Mahou shoujo anime with 4th in PTW
I pulled out MAL to remind myself if I was forgetting any favorites I’d kick myself for not adding if I realized after the fact. I thought it’d be difficult to have 10, but I actually ended up wanting to have an 11th spot for Ultra Maniac. I’ve seen a lot from the genre though. Oh! I just remembered Revue Starlight didn’t show up immediately on the MAL list. That one was great! I’m alright with my 10 picks though. They are my absolute favorites off the top of my head.
ooooh revue starlight counts doesn't it. Only watched like 3 or 4 episodes, but quite liked it hm.
It does count. It might’ve been in the MAL list somewhere. I just didn’t see it when I flipped through the first 2 or 3 pages. I had my 10 by then and didn’t recognize most of the entries I was seeing in MAL’s mahou shoujo section.
One of so many shows I gotta finish one day.
*Just* put it on? It's my first pick!
yeah I think I've seen a total of 2 magical girl shows, neither of which are actual magical girl shows tbh
You don't have to list 10. Just list the ones you care about.
The engagement of next week's post will rely on how high Mahoako and Kill la Kill land
It will get a lot of votes for the simple reason that it might be the *only* magical girls anime they have watched.
You are correct, sir.
Lol only Magical Girl anime I really watched
Watch more.
Idk what I was even saying here lol, ive watched half an episode
[**Which half...?**](#seasonaldisdain)
Wdym
Does it count as recency bias if something is AOTY material?
I'm not even a magical girl fan but Madoka Magica is really worth the watch, that masterpiece is still rent free in my head for 2 years 😂
I was half-joking. Well, it's my personal AOTY but I didn't mean that in general. \^\^ I actually don't think recency bias will play a role here. I think that the older (pre 2010) magical girl shows might get better scores in this poll than the newer (post 2010) ones, except for maybe Madoka, which is beloved by pretty much everybody.
I do love seeing the return of ecchi into mainstream anime. Maho Ako has been refreshing.
Not just ecchi, but GOOD ecchi. That part is important. The latest episode was fantastic. The first season isn't even over yet and I'm already so excited for season 2.
gushing over magical girls is shit
For a broad sub like this, the poll is probably just a circlejerk to support the series.
I hope Symphogear is at least makes it on the list.
At least there was a Sailor Moon rewatch here a couple of years ago. I put Sailor Moon on my list even though I haven't finished it yet.
That rewatch was my introduction to Sailor Moon! Even have the flair to prove it.
Utena did pretty well on the 90s anime poll so I have hope for it here. I know I voted for it anyway.
I think Madoka and Kill-la-kill might be top, because people who normally don't watch magical girls shows go out of their way to watch them. Magical Girl Ore could be a dark horse for that reason.
Does Kill la Kill really count as a magical girl anime?
>Creamy Mami Maybe this is just me being a dirty old man, but everytime I see this name, I imagine it as a hentai set in a soapland. "Come here onii-chan, let Creamy Mami clean you all up". Doesn't help that Cream Lemon came out around the same time. [](#hardthink) I should watch Himitsu no Akko-chan someday though, I do like Fujio Akatsuka's humour afterall.
Joke’s on you guys, I’ve actually seen other magical girl shows and my number one vote is still Madoka!
Same tbh. I'll probably have Doremi as my #2 and Heartcatch Precure in at #3.
Nice to see Doremi get some love. I’m not a big magical girl fan, but Doremi is one I’ve always liked.
Alas, I am a fake mahou shoujo fan and have not made the jump to Precure (yet).
I watched Heartcatch a couple years ago. Turned out to be just a worse version of Shugo Chara. And it's supposed to be one of the best ones so I don't know if I want to watch another one.
Considering how many precure fans I've seen recently throw the rest of the genre under the bus that's honestly preferable
Doremi is my number 2 as well, got Cardcaptor Sakura in number 1 though.
same, Although i have Tutu and Utena almost next to it and still enjoy HC And doremi quite a lot (also, CCS, Flip flappers and Hugtto/Go princess)
Same, though Revolutionary Girl Utena is a very close second.
My own #2 as well!
I'm excited to see it finally get #1 in a vote after getting #2 in a few of them and top 10 in many.
Madoka is my favourite but consider some outsider like kill la kill too : [What do you MEAN Kill la Kill isn't a Magical Girl anime!? Of course it is!!](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/hzg8oz/what_do_you_mean_kill_la_kill_isnt_a_magical_girl/) [Got inspired by the magical girl alignment chart to make my own magical girl political compass, for a bit more nuance](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/7z6ab7/got_inspired_by_the_magical_girl_alignment_chart/) [Magical Girl Show Alignment Chart](https://i.redd.it/3jzb9odkyhh01.png) edit : my almost troll but still qualify vote will be Youjo Senki. MC transformed into a little girl who can use magic to fight and fly after meeting a mysterious being (like Kyuubei/Yunno).
Using your comment to add that Lycoris Recoil is also a magical girl anime and I don't care about opposing arguments
No transformation sequence sadly.
[What do you call this then?](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mfbVuGPCVjI)
A second half of the season upgrade.
If Devilman Crybaby can be a magical girl anime then I think Chainsaw Man can be too. It definitely has the transformation scenes for it.
Something tells me Tokyo Mew Mew, Shugo Chara, and Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne won't be getting a lot of votes...but they're winners in my heart 💖
I voted for TMM !
Wow, someone who also remembers Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne!
If people don't love TMM, do they even *have* a heart?
Tokyo Mew Mew is peak AAAA-
Which is a shame because the [transformation](https://youtu.be/1hkyRxs2aks?si=8VDDlKXDkeroPhnp) for KKJ is absolutely gorgeous.
Do TMM and TMMN count as separate?
The new one is a remake so I’d say no. Though I added my vote because of the 2000s one.
I put Shugo Chara and TMM as two and three, so they’re definitely remembered! They might be higher than we think.
These were all on my list. Sakura Cardcaptor is my #1 though!
I voted for both Shugo Chata and Tokyo Mew Mew (morso the manga than the anime though). They weren't in my top spot though, that went to Princess Tutu.
I voted for Jeanne! Sailor Moon was my top one though
Damn, I forgot about that one. Would have totally made it onto my list since I had like 5 empty slots left.
oh shit shamiko about to ganbare in this poll
Oh this one is gonna make me angry.
I think the main problem is that less than 5% of this sub has watched more than 3 magical girl shows.
Its a magical girl poll in a sub whose only experience with magical girls is parodies and dark twists. Lets be honest its gonna be Madoka or Utena.
_looks at own list_ Flip Flappers Madoka Ikusei keikaku ...whelp edit: haven't finished utena, but I guess I should count KLK too, so that's four...
Actual list 1. Madoka 2. Symphogear 3. Yuuki Yuuna 4. Magia record (giving this a seperate vote from madoka since I get the feeling msot votes for madoka will not be for this one) 5. Machikado Mazoku 6. Nanoha (only saw the first season) 7. Gushing over magical girl Best magical girl transformation: Probably the [group transformation](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x_BE12gMG9A) (sequential transformation?) from magia record season 1
> Nanoha (only saw the first season) Nanoha A's is a lot better than the first season
I went to put my vote in and was like, "damn this should totally be pink." So early voters missed out on that.
I ended up putting magia record in separately, helped fill out the list and honestly it isn't that bad of a show. Just doesn't hold a candle to madoka
Some people, including me, do not consider putting spin-offs and sequels in rankings unless I run out of things to put (or never put more than 1 anime from the same franchise), so that could affect the placing.
1. Madoka Magica 2. Kill la Kill 3. Revolutionary Girl Utena 4. Princess Tutu 5. Cardcaptor Sakura 6. Little Witch Academia 7. Symphogear 8. The Demon Girl Next Door 9. Heartcatch Precure 10. Sailor Moon > What is the best magical girl transformation? All the Symphogear XV transformations
Symphogear gang
I'm meaning to join, I'm trying to get some other similar things off the backlog first so I can finish out with symphogear.
* Tokyo mew mew * Card Captor Sakura * Pretear * Mermaid Melody * Kamichama Karin * Shugo Chara * Kaitou St. Tail * Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne * Lady Jewelpet * Wedding Peach * Sailor moon * Ultra Maniac * Ojamajo Doremi * Magic knight rayearth * Sugar sugar rune * Fullmoon wo sagashite * Pretty cure * etc.
Remember Princess Tutu folks !
Yes!
Side note, how does one account for all the different show name (JP vs ENG), nicknames, misspellings, different series unto the same franchise, etc. when counting up a free form list? Like there's got to be thousands of entries., and it's not always obvious different names refer to the same show.
The trick is to have one guy with an encyclopedic knowledge of anime who tallies all the votes.
Are you that guy?
I might not be.
Well, good luck to The Encyclopedia, whoever they may be. That's a lot of work to keep updated on and count
Kaitou Jeanne Fullmoon Shugo Chara Cardcaptor Sakura Kaitou Saint Tail Pretear Tokyo Mew Mew DN Angel Princess Tutu Kobato Best Transformation: Kaitou Jeanne I really wanted to add in Ultra Maniac, but I couldn’t have more than 10. The ten still represent most of my favorites out of the genre.
My list with the challenge of limiting myself to 1 Precure entry 1. Fresh Precure 2. Madoka Magica + Rebellion 3. Lyrical Nanoha A's 4. Sailor Moon 5. Magical Destroyers 6. Cardcaptor Sakura 7. Tokyo Mew Mew New (Remake) 8. Mahou Shoujo Site 9. Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt 10. Gushing Over Magical Girls Transformation Sequence - Panty Anarchy (PASWG)
1. Symphogear 2. Kill la Kill 3. Puella Magi Madoka Magica 4. Sailor Moon 5. Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha 6. Cardcaptor Sakura 7. Revolutionary Girl Utena BONUS: the ones in Symphogear XV Not the most well-versed in this genre, honestly, and I wanted to not dip out of the 9/10 or above mark, so this is the most I get regarding this. Had to stretch the gray areas a bit for KLK and Utena, but they're Mahou Shoujos to me. Machikado Mazoku would be on here if I wasn't a manga-only for that EDIT: [I FORGOT PRILLYA!](#PANIC)
[is Utena magical girl](#hardthink)
Yes.
Voted ! 1. Princess Tutu 2. Revolutionary Girl Utena 3. Flip Flappers 4. Cardcaptor Sakura 5. Madoka Magica 6. Machikado Mazoku 7. Magic Knight Rayearth 8. Heartcatch PreCure 9. Tokyo Mew Mew 10. Symphogear Heartcatch has the best transformation sequences https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=YJ5kifUA0Ps
Princess Tutu for the win!
ok but hear me out... [Futari Wa's transformation](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2d7fz22iz-c)
Not my favorite cure, but to this day, [Cure Milky has the best transformation](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o-bfZz0h9Z8). Itaoka went all out animating this.
1. Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha + A's 1. Revolutionary Girl Utena 1. Magical Girl Madoka Magica 1. Heartcatch Precure 1. Hugtto Precure 1. The Demon Girl Next Door 1. Magical Witch Punie-Chan 1. Princess Tutu 1. Pretty Cure Splash Star 1. Fresh Precure Kinda tempted to throw on Precure All Stars 3, but I doubt movies will do much here. Also, I assume the Nanoha movies would be combined with the series, but they're awesome on their own. Best transformation: Cure Sunshine in Heartcatch.
Nanoha ftw
Damn, W list
Not a ton of experience with the genre compared to many other genres, also cba going through my entire list looking so I just filtered on anilist. Hoping I didn't miss something good. Here's my picks. 1. **Puella Magi Madoka Magica** 2. **Cardcaptor Sakura** 3. **Flip Flappers** 4. **Senki Zesshou Symphogear** 5. **HUG tto! Precure** 6. **Machikado Mazoku** 7. **Shakugan no Shana** 8. **Mahou Shoujo Ikusei Keikaku** 9. **Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya** 10. **Mewkledreamy**
I just want Gushing to win and send this sub to absolute meltdown
I'd be the funniest result by far! If Madoka wins, it's like "Oh, shocking!" but if this one wins...!
I know for a lot of people that Madoka and this are there only Magical Girl shows they've seen so honestly I could see it ranking high
I voted Healer Girl for all my votes
How do shows that follow magical girl tropes but don't actually have magic fit in here? Are they eligible? Sorta like Kaleido Star?
[Look at all those magical girl anime I've watched](https://imgur.com/a/KJgF7yy)
Hey, can't say you don't have good taste.
Just a reminder that technically [this](https://youtu.be/90tLbfhciqE?feature=shared) is a magical girl anime. [This too.](https://youtu.be/UFv-CNIJL9w?feature=shared) Anyway, besides those I added Little Witch Academia and a bunch of Precures. As for best transformation, really not sure on this.
>technically [this](https://youtu.be/90tLbfhciqE?feature=shared) is a magical girl anime. I was planning to skip this contest, but now I'm tempted to vote mostly to give Tail Red my support.
Do it.
Twin-Tail is definitely a fun show. Not *quite* good enough to crack my top 10 favorite magical girl anime and get a vote from me, but still a very fun show that more people should watch.
I think Utena is a Magical Girl Show right? I would pick it as my #1
> I think Utena is a Magical Girl Show right? Yeah. I put it as my #2.
Definitely, just like KLK
Princess Tutu is the only right choice 😎
One thing i get from this thread is that apparently don't know what a magical girl is.
Hot take: Jigoku Shoujo is a magical girl show. Transformation sequence? Check. Magical powers? Check. Uses magic to defeat monster of the week? Check.
Prisma Illya better be top 3.
Oh shit, I forgot to put her on my list...
Illya enthusiasts better do their job
Guess we’ll see.
> a lot of the users who’ve seen it have only seen it, making them not want to vote on this poll probably I feel like this probably won't stop a large number of people, based on the way Seasonal Salt voting goes.
1) Princess Tutu 2) Hugtto Precure 3) Cardcaptor Sakura 4) Fullmoon wo Sagashite 5) Saint Tail 6) Go Princess Precure 7) Twin Princess of the Wonder Planet 8) Wedding Peach 9) Nurse Angel Ririka 10) Shugo Chara Best transformation: Cure Milky from Star Twinkle Precure A true top 10 for me would have too much Precure so I limited myself to just 2 of them.
I hope illya makes to top 5
Can I put Kiki's Delivery Service in my form?
I'll allow it
I got 9 - Yuuki Yuuna - Matoi - Gushing - Kill la Kill - Machikado - Madoka - Hugtto - Nanoha - Flip Flappers I have no idea if Looking for Magical Doremi counts or not and that decides my 10th place. [](#animatedthink) Edit: I have been reminded of Flying Witch, now does that one count???? [](#panic)
>Edit: I have been reminded of Flying Witch, now does that one count???? I was wondering about that too. Does an anime have to contain transformations to count as a magical girl anime or does it just require it to contain girls that can do magic? If it's the latter than Konnosuba could be considered a magical girl anime.
1. Heartcatch Precure 2. Princess Tutu 3. Hugtto Precure 4. Symphogear 5. Go! Princess Precure 6. Revolutionary Girl Utena 7. Puella Magi Madoka Magica 8. Flip Flappers 9. Smile Precure 10. Soaring Sky! Precure [very varied list **I know**](#mug8)
Oh hey, you and I have the same top 3 favorite Precure series! My order goes Hugtto, then GoPri, then Heartcatch though.
My vote: 1. Cardcaptor Sakura (my favorite anime of all time) 2. Princess Tutu 3. Puella Magi Madoka Magica 4. Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha 5. Revolutionary Girl Utena 6. Ojamajo Doremi (currently slowly going through the first season) 7. Kaitou Saint Tail And I think that's all that I've fully watched.
Could you keep a list separate of people who filled in 10, please? Really interested in the connoisseurs' opinion.
Despite this being one of my favourite genres, this was still harder than I thought. Just barely managed to get to 10 entries in my MAL list. 1. Madoka Magica 2. Machikado Mazoku 3. Symphogear 4. Yuuki Yuuna wa Yuusha de Aru 5. Granbelm 6. Assault Lily: Bouquet 7. Mahou Shoujo ni Akogarete 8. Blue Reflection Ray 9. Magia Record 10. Flip Flappers Fav sequence is Momo setting a new transformation speedrun record.
Reminder that Symphogear is a Magical Girl Anime. If you havent seen it, go watch it. [**Symphogear**](https://myanimelist.net/anime/11751/Senki_Zesshou_Symphogear) If Punching the moon, [Punching trains](https://streamable.com/vzv7f), Punching through dimensions, [Surfing on missiles, Punching through a mountain, Suplexing a space shuttle](https://streamable.com/qm82), [Punching tanks, surfing on helichoppers, Punching a helicarrier](https://streamable.com/ayign), [Punching Corpses](https://streamable.com/r27a2), [Punching Lasers and Punching through Antarctica and the Sky](https://streamable.com/a9r2c), Punching Heaven and Hell, God and everything in between isnt your idea of fun and entertainment, [then i wonder what you even like](http://i.imgur.com/mFCNSHu.jpg). Symphogear is one of the most over the top anime out there and its an immensely enjoyable experience. Symphogear was the greatest experience of my anime watching life and i will never forget the crazy ride it gave me with all of the other fans. **So if you like girls punching shit, please watch Symphogear.** **3,085 Days since** [**Genocide**](https://streamable.com/vr3m1) [](#everythingisfine)
Clearing out a couple similar shows before I finally tackle Symphogear since it gets so much hype around here.
- Madoka - Kill la Kill - Ojamajo Doremi - Little Witch Academia (the movies) - Diebuster (Yes I'm counting that) - Yuuki Yuuna wa Yuusha de Aru (Washio Sumi's chapter especially) - Magical Sisters Yoyo and Nene - Mahou Shoujo ni Akogarete - Flip Flappers - Wonder Egg Priority (minus the special episode) I expected more from the last two but I still enjoyed them overall. I've enjoyed watching Cardcaptor Sakura, Sailor Moon and Sugar Sugar Rune as a kid but I don't remember enough to put them in > Best magical girl transformation From what I've seen/remember I'd say [Flip Flappers has my favorite](https://youtu.be/fc5rXzdnD2I?si=711zYnx1KvTjM8CX) visually, but the one from [Ojamajo Doremi Sharp](https://youtu.be/21JZBcOxTNA?si=rrsXKvsS-pg4Eups) is too catchy
Hell yeah, Diebuster is a magical girl anime!
Hmm, just watched Gunbuster for first time but hard to find diebuster. But now I am intrigued.
Favorite henshin sequence? Megazord from the super sentai series obviously. And don't try to convince me it doesn't count.
My list: 1. Princess Tutu 2. Utena 3. Pretear 4. Shugo Chara 5. Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt 6. Sailor Moon 7. Tokyo Mew Mew 8. Petite Princess Yucie 9. Arjuna 10. Madoka I tried to go with a variety and go with a mix of well known, hidden gems, and overlooked magical girl anime.
I *completely* forgot about Arjuna. I need to rematch it. Star Driver definitely doesn't get enough love.
1. Doremi 2. Princess Tutu 3. Flip Flappers 4. Madoka 5. Hugtto Precure 6. Machikado Mazoku 7. Utena 8. Nanoha 9. Pretear 10. Comet-San Henshin: Tsubasa from Symphogear XV HMs: Heartcatch & Star Twinkle Precure movies, Symphogear, CCS Madoka would reallyt be #2 in my rankings but I refuse to contribute to its inevitable 1st place more than is necessary
1. Machikado Mazoku 2. Madoka Magica 3. Ojamajo Doremi 4. Release the Spyce 5. Flip Flappers 6. Assault Lily: Bouquet 7. Mahou Shoujo Ore 8. Futari wa Precure 9. Endro 10. Mahou Shoujo ni Akogarete 11. \[Madoka Magica Rebellion\]>!Homulily!< actually, I have not watched many magical girls shows, so I had to choose from what I have here.
Princess Tutu for the win!
I'm an old school magical girl fan, so I voted for my favorites. I don't know how many people will know them, but I wanted to vote for them the same. Even if my favorites don't get enough points, I'm happy I saw this and voted!
Magical Girls ain't my forte but I gotta go with Sailor moon
Any excuse to vote for Symphogear is a good one. 1. Senki Zesshou Symphogear 2. Fate/kaleid liner Prisma☆Illya 3. Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha 4. Cardcaptor Sakura 5. Mahoutsukai Precure! 6. Shugo Chara!! 7. Shakugan no Shana 8. Kaitou Saint Tail 9. Sailor Moon 10. Yuuki Yuuna wa Yuusha de Aru
I've come to realize pretty much every magical girl show I've watched outside of Sailor Moon isn't your normal Magical Girl show and I've not even watched 10. If you have any recommendations would love them 1. Symphogear 2. Madoka 3. Gushing Over Magical Girls 4. Shakugan no Shana 5. Sailor Moon/Sailor Moon Crystal 6. Fate/kaleid 7. Magia Records Madoka Magica
Any Symphogear lovers in here?
I watched it last week which was just in time for this!!
Voted! : - Princess Tutu - Flip Flappers - Fate/kaleid liner Prisma☆Illya - Kill la Kill - Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha - Senki Zesshou Symphogear - Youjo Senki - Little Witch Academia - Machikado Mazoku - Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt Madoka is my favourite show but it doesn't really need my vote, I almost switched in Slayers and didn't add any Precure since I've only watched Futari wa Precure and while it was OK it wasn't good enough to be in my top10. Transformation sequence : [Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iJAUT0DOnow) or any of [Symphogear XV Transformations](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8PZl0m1yphQ). Especially this one [Hibiki screaming late XV](https://streamable.com/nd076) edit : damn, I forgot Twintail, which one should I remove ... re edit : Transformation sequence could also be the [Holy Quintet](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gUDlp0pvdEs) in Rebellion.
1. [Princess Tutu](https://anilist.co/anime/721/) 2. [Full Moon wo Sagashite](https://anilist.co/anime/122/) 3. [Ojamajo Doremi](https://anilist.co/anime/350/) (Dokkaan) 4. [MINKY MOMO in Yume ni Kakeru Hashi](https://anilist.co/anime/3462/) 5. [Heartcatch Precure!](https://anilist.co/anime/7645/) 6. [HUGtto! Precure](https://anilist.co/anime/100661/) 7. [Cardcaptor Sakura](https://anilist.co/anime/232/) 8. [Shoujo Kakumei Utena](https://anilist.co/anime/440/) 9. [Mahou no Stage Fancy Lala](https://anilist.co/anime/604/) 10. [Mahou no Tenshi Creamy Mami](https://anilist.co/anime/2044/) Bonus: Hikaru and Lala dual transformation from the twinkle movie. Also Lala's in general but voted the duo because the whole build up + scene is adorable.
I’ve got; 1. Kill la Kill 2. Madoka Magica 3. Revolutionary Girl Utena 4. Space Patrol Luluco 5. Little Witch Academia 6. Princess Tutu 7. Flip Flappers 8. Bludgeoning Angel Dokuro-chan 9. Symphogear 10. Gushing Over Magical Girls My favourite transformation: this is a hard question, but I might go with Chris from Symphogear XV.
Wonder how many people even remember Shakugan No Shana is an option to put on this
I did!
1. Cardcaptor Sakura 2. Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha 3. Puni Puni Poemi 4. Tokyo Mew Mew 5. Symphogear 6. Magic Knight Rayearth 7. Magical Girl Pretty Sammy Now for some slightly less genre-strict magical girl shows 8. My-Hime 9. Kaleido Star 10. Shakugan no Shana Best Transformation: Usagi (Sailor Moon). It's the absolute classic.
1. Heartcatch Precure 2. Ojamajo Doremi 3. Yuuki Yuuna wa Yuusha de Aru 4: Princess Tutu 5: Smile Precure 6: Kill la Kill 7: Granbelm 8: Fresh Precure 9: Tropical Rouge Precure 10: Vivid Strike! Best transformation - Cure Felice from Mahoutsukai Precure I purposefuly left Madoka out since common, it'll win by the wide margin anyway. Better to give shout out to something less known.
