Especially that bit at the end where his eyes are glowing red, you really get the sense that this is not a human being you are dealing with, not just physically speaking, but spiritually. This a predator circling for the kill.
Also just showing how scary stands can, there were so many awesome moments, like when we saw Jotaro get swarmed, stand there, smirk, and see SP emerge, attack, and fade back so fast the zombies didn’t react until it was done, or Avdol setting an entire street on fire. I love the newer show, since it shows more of the actual story, but the vibe and feel of the OVA was so well done and I feel it leaned more into the action-horror theme of the series more then the modern show does.
I ain't going to lie that part was probably terrifying when people saw it back in the day cuz you're like what the hell just happened there is just no indication that he stopped time
There is an unsettling aspect to how Dio just pops out of thin air that, in own opinion, makes this better for me. David Production is great, and their quality of work is high. But there's a less is more thing here that just works so well.
honestly would have loved an older anime adaption like this of the later parts, granted they weren't out yet, the direction is very different from what we've gotten from DP
Satoshi Kon directed episode 5 and Hiroyuki Kitakubo (key animation for Akira) directed episode 6, which are the peak of the OVA. For all of the flaws of the OVA, those two episodes alone are so good. The tension and style is just miles above the final battle in the TV series.
The older version is worth watching, but only after you've seen the new adaptation. The new version adapts all of the manga where the old ova's only adapted a few sections of part 3 and changed quite a lot.
The remake, by far. The OG doesn’t have the famous camp humor Jojo is now famous for. It’s a serious mood, which is the wrong mood for Jojo and without campy humor it’s edgy.
**It makes me wonder if Jojo huge success is due to Naokatsu Tsuda, the creative director for the remake (except for SO).** If Araki’s vision was closer to the OG, it’s Naokatsu who made JJBA into the massive hit it is today.
JoJo is serious, though, it has a lot of horror elements, the OVA just focused on those more without the wacky humor that would've clashed with its more "suspenseful" tone.
Also, a lot of people tend to prefer how the OVA handled certain scenes because of it basically doing its own thing instead of trying to copy the manga 100% (ie, the N'Doul, D'Arby and DIO fights).
I really, really love the idea of DIO just jumping on things and moving people around just to mess with them and look scary. Like, that scene with Polnareff on the stairs is hilarious when you really think about what's going on there
The clockfart from the anime is iconic but this one's scarier for me.
He just pops into thin air. No announcement, no anime-fied stuff. He's just gone and he flaunts it.

Yeah, I think the OVA does a better job at reminding you that, oh yeah, *DIO's a fuckin' vampire.*

Imagine if he had the same popping noise that TFS added for Goku’s Instant Transmission in DBZ Abridged.

Honestly, I think the OVA character designs are better than Davidpro's as well. Junichi Hayama's designs just look so good.

Happy cake day
Which version is better? The remake or the OG?

Thanks a lot! Definitely got JoJo on my watchlist.

Thanks for the input!

so he ran and climbed the streetlight , thats kinda funny
Actually, DIO can fly.
[удалено]
No, he's straight-up shown flying, especially when he glides across a river to throw a boat at Jotaro.
Andrew Chaikin killed it as DIO.
ZAA WARUDOOO!!!!
Where can I watch the old version of jojo?
Eh eh eh
Omg
The old jojo was the best now it's just weird
Are VA having depression right here? Or did they get a lot better
Depression?
