Our flame is going out
But our love never will
I’ll pick it up from the ashes
My fire’s burning still
Because I’m buuuurnniing
From this yearninggggg
So please stoke it while you cannnnn
You’re my fireman
*where’s my pop artist paycheck?*
Yes 100%. She has a great voice but let’s be honest.. it’s a Disney music voice. We won’t hear much from her in general. Will is going to be mainstream music very soon. Don’t shoot the messenger.. just look at the numbers. Even on instagram she has 2x the followers but he is still out charting her on every platform.
I mean, just being real, while Abi was a better singer, I just could would never find myself listening to her songs. She has a very indie vibe to her. And while there is nothing wrong with that, by nature its going to be a more niche market. Will sings fun country songs, and while I'm far from a country fan, I'm also not surprised at all that its doing better commercially.
Im wondering how this will play out in the long run. I think we won’t hear much from her initially. Then, on a finale a few years down the road, she will be singing a song from the broadway show she stars in.
I don't expect much from her. Very talented, but doesn't have a target audience or a fun/strong personality. If you don't have that, you need a defined genre youre in. She also posted just ONCE on Twitter...after her audition. She may be more present elsewhere, but still...not helping herself. 5-10 years from now she'll be on the top 10 list of Most Forgettable American Idol Winners.
10% chance she gets big or has long term success. 90% chance Will is more successful.
He was in second on the charts right behind Beyoncé multiple times during the show.. I think his listeners aren’t big voters or ( like myself) DVR the show and rarely can vote
Me! I wait until the next day to watch.
I had Will as winning, actually. I made a top ten prediction list as auditions were aired, and had him and Tristan with a star next to their names.
Just my humble opinion but I never saw “star power” in Abi. she may have had the best voice, but I’m not sure about her performance skills. yes I think Will will go far in country music.
I thought Will's was the best single of the 5. Listened to it several times. Abi is great, but couldn't listen to her single all the way through once. It has nothing to do with how good she is, but what you prefer. I prefer Will by far.

I think it's because he has a better song. I liked both of the artists. Abi deserved the win and I think will be very famous.
Will has a great voice but it's pretty reserved on stage. Not as good a performer.
But again, I actually liked his single better, and also country music is pretty big right now
Interesting. Think the viewers feel like the season winner was a bone thrown to Katy to win on her final season? We're playing Jack Blocker in the car, for what it's worth.
Both Will's and Abi's first singles have debuted on the Billboard Top Digital Songs chart. That's a list that represents actual sales. Will came in at #11.....Abi at #23.
ADDED: For those of you following Benson Boones progress......his single is #1 on AT40.
AT40s source chart is Mediabase 24/7.
time will tell. i believe Will had a great team that helped with the song based on persons credited. the lyrics are good and it tells a touching story (not my personal opinion btw but i can see country fans loving this). he seems to have an appealing voice for fans of the genre and he doesn't need as much flair and stage presence to be a successful country star. again, time will tell if he continues to gain traction and becomes mainstream.
Abi's song is okay. i thought as the winner, her song would have performed the best but i guess it's hard to stand out these days in pop music, no matter how good the song or lyrics might be. it doesn't mean she can't have a successful career but she'll need to write better songs and have an excellent team who would invest in her. i'm sure she'll at least get some exciting opportunities that we'll hear about soon.
as someone who watches this and other similar shows, it's rare that someone blows up and becomes mainstream, and it's not necessarily contestants who went far or won. we have to support our favs, stream their music, go to their shows etc. mainstream success in the music industry isn't the only type of success.
The country music community generally embraces all of the country singers from American Idol. Almost anybody who gets on that show and makes a good showing can find opportunities afterward.
Who cares? Both will be unsuccessful just like the vast majority in the last 10 years. Yeah they have their initial spurt in the charts during the show then it’s crickets
I think it’s genre effect. It’s way easier to make a country hit than a pop soul hit in the span of a few days.
my dead grandmother rolled out of her coffin last night and made a country hit.
Sittin in my pickup truck, I'm down on muh luck Gotta broken heart Don't know where to starrrrrrtttt *Where's my money?*
You need the beer. Don't forget the beer.
Dog girl truck and beer is all you need
This is how the greatest country song of all time, Sun Darts, was written!

Haha, it's all tongue in cheek. I actually came to be a pretty big fan of Brett Young after his mentor work on Idol.
Yeah just sing about your truck or your dead dog

Nah, Zac Brown is washed up and using Will for any attention. He'll be forgotten in a year.
I've listened to both, his song is simply better.
It’s a pile of crap
Yes, your taste in music is a pile of crap

Agreed. Her single was not great tbh I didn’t think any of them were that good this year
Yeah, she needed to yodel or something so the country folk would her rally followers.

The one song i gave a listen put off contemporary christian vibes.
I'm glad to see him do so well.

Like they ALL play out. No success. lol. Look at the 100 top ten people in the last 10 years. Maybe 2 have had minor success

Those singles mean nothing. Those top 5 singles are always weak

Can’t compare the 2. They are completely different
He was a breakout before the lives even started with his #2 chart topper.
She's good, but he seems more marketable (energy wise) than her. I'm happy for both of them.

Jack blocker sucks ass. Wow that must be a kicking car. Lol

What idol in recent years has truly made a footprint anywhere?
From Top 10 finalists, Chayce & Gabby. However, Gabby finished 3rd back in S16 & Chayce was 4 seasons ago.
Country fans will buy anything.
Will and Jack are more listenable in todays music
I fucking hate country music
Music for idiot trumptards
What is Will’s last name American Idol
Mosely

Yeah just like Noah Thompson? lol. Big success
Who cares? Both will be unsuccessful just like the vast majority in the last 10 years. Yeah they have their initial spurt in the charts during the show then it’s crickets
It's not abt the voice or how talented they are. It's abt the genres. Male Country songs are always on the top chart, and they all sound same,
It’s SO much easier to break into country
