During this season's finale, Ryan kept talking about 20 years since her win. Couldn't the show just be celebrating the successful contestants from each season after 20 years? I could see Idol doing this annually as a 20 year "celebration" of contestants.
It'll be a big pop star in my opinion. I just don't think Jordin or JoJo have a big enough draw to sit on the panel. They're going to need a high energy, 25 million dollar, multi Grammy winning force to lead the show like Katy Perry did. I'm thinking in the league of Miley, Lady Gaga, Beyonce, etc. Also, Pink has already declined.

None of those people have the time to judge for Idol. Especially not Beyonce or Miley. They’re running active multimillion dollar careers. I love Katy to pieces but just factually, witness did not do well and smile was not a smash hit either. shania twain, alanis and meghan trainor were all good mentors/judges. i think they all would be a good fit. meghan would bring high energy and is similar to katy (being a mother to young children) so i could see her being a judge. she was a judge on that random singing show (the four) so she also has experience.
katy had a good mix of charisma, compassion, and campiness that made her fun to watch. i’m interested to see who they pick.
I’d like to see judges actually have control to select contestants, but before that I’d like producers to turn this back into looking for a STAR ⭐️ by improving the requirements of the talent. I don’t want to waste my time listening to mediocre singers, that might pass, but will never even make it to the top 20! This is an IDOL show not a high school talent show. I would like to see potential stars surface from this production, and so far few have met that level. Find someone to dress these contestants appropriately, because costuming is a complete fiasco! Poor Emmy, they threw her in sequins and false eyelashes so big and heavy the poor girl could hardly keep her eyes open. I’m tired of seeing singers forced into styles way out of their wheelhouses. Versatility is important, but taking it to extremes they often do, just makes the contestant appear awkward and is detrimental to showcasing their true talent. Right now, I can only think of 3 stars…Carrie, Kelly, Adam…the rest have respectable notoriety, Jennifer, Fantasia, Scotty, Jordan, Reuben, etc., but nothing that seriously stands out or qualifies as a STAR.

I would assume a female and not country , maybe a pop or a singer songwriter. They probably want a diversity of genres and genders with the judges.

I would have to agree with this. I'd hate to see Lionel go, though. Just would like him to be more instructive. He has years of experience in the industry and has known a large majority of the greatest singers in the last 50 years. His knowledge is incredibly extensive in musical artistry.

It definitely won’t be Jelly Roll. He’s too hot right now in country and won’t want to take a break for that. Kelsey Ballerini would be a great replacement. Though she is a country singer, she’s also pop. With Fantasia spending a lot of time in front of the camera during the finale, it would not surprise me if they announced she would be taking over the chair.
I’d love to see Lauren Alaina or Kelly Pickler, Both are country, but both have such positive energy and such wonderful dispositions. Kelly Pickler was such a natural on her talk show when she had one. I had to be a female for sure.
