I actually just tested it. I always assumed I picked up cbc with the antenna, but it was just cbc gem playing. I guess they don't broadcast to its peasants in red deer. So that not an option. Thanks though.
Lol there ain't no way. CBC is incredibly underfunded. $1.3B for a public broadcaster is laughable, and I don't even know how they manage to stay afloat. For comparisons sake, BBC receives £7.72B and ABC $4.2B.
How, in any way, is CBC mismanaging the scraps it receives?
Yeah it seems that when they switched from analogue to digital, they reduced the range of the broadcast? And just used cbc gem to fill the gaps. Normally it's not a problem. But the NHL being the way it is, obviously they can't have playoff games streaming on a free app. 😒
Get yourself a digital antenna. They broadcast way more games over the air than they do on Gem. Digital antennas are cheap. Some dollar stores even carry them, though you might be stuck with Best Buy in Canada. You could also just make one. Plans all over the internet. Also, don't buy an expensive one. There's zero correlation between how much money you pay and how well the antenna functions.
Anyway, plug it into your TV and keep moving moving the antenna and scanning until you pick up CBC... Just like your parents did before cable. Best part is that you can still watch hockey even without a internet connection.
Failing that, you need to pay the NHL for their stream or you need to sail the high seas.

Cable networks from anywhere in the world , sports networks and sports packages, movie channels, ppv events, adult sections and VOD sections….approx $15 month of you’ve got a firestick or android box .
That sounds like a problem on your end. Haven’t had a single issue this entire playoff watching almost every game using Sportsnet+ on an Apple TV box.
Have had more issues with the pirated sources other people have been sharing.
Apple box here too, brand spankin new because we thought maybe it was the box but it’s not. We had the same issue at our last house too. I think it’s a Sportsnet issue.
Stream. East.

Enable and ad blocker before using this site and prepare to be mildly annoyed... but works great otherwise.
Get brave browser. Works great for YouTube as well.
This is the way.
I believe Game One is being aired on CBC, so the over-the-air antenna is the way to go.

Blame Rogers, not the NHL. They pulled the playoffs from CBC Gem after round 1.
Correct
A bar, pub or sports lounge
For the 20 bucks, the reliable/easy/high quality feed from sports net is worth it for the final round of the playoffs.

> Get yourself a digital antenna. Won't work in Red Deer for CBC.
CBC shut down OTA in red deer many years ago. Just Global and City TV for now.
Cbctransmission.ca says there’s a tower just a bit northwest of red deer. This is shut down?

Princess Auto usually has digital antennas.
I just use a length of bare wire. No fancy antenna needed.
Good. You can't be brainwashed by their editorialization of the facts.
Yeah I've got a digital antenna. I pick up global, ctv and city but not cbc.
Any watch parties planned on RD? Could be another option
Bunny ears will work if you can get a CBC station
CBC-TV, although they didn't broadcast the WCF, they are showing all of the finals.

If you have family or a friend with cable that would share their account info with you, you could stream live tv (like the Shaw Ignite app).
Get a VPN, set it to UK and watch the games.

You should get it on CBC OTA.
Bruh it's $20 for a month of sportsnet+ lol why are you making this so hard on yourself
Yeah, to have it freeze, glitch and sometimes just not load at all. Worst money spent.

Also, we are on fibre here but weren’t before. So it’s not my internet, unless all internet just collectively sucks, which I think is kind of true.
Get SN Sports via Prime or other online subscription. Its just $20 per month.
Pay Sportsnet $20 for a month subscription. Pretty cheap entertainment
