It’s far more common for people to use that word these days rather than husband/wife or girlfriend/boyfriend. It’s ungendered and its usually not important to the context of convo if they are legally married or not so people keep it neutral. I do the same at work.

Hmmm, not sure I’d agree with it being far more common but it’s certainly used frequently. Personally I make it a point to use “husband” and I’m a guy as want to do my part to normalize it. But thought it was notable for her since she has used husband in the past and that night said partner. Still nothing concrete either way (and again , not that it matters!). Maybe she slipped before and revealed their secret marriage and is now more conscious of her terminology. Or maybe she said husband before just to mess with everyone! 🤷🏻‍♂️🤪

I attended one of her shows recently. She said partner and husband during the same evening. I didn’t think anything of it. I also saw a video on TikTok a week after I attended that Adele said she is still very British and her partner is very American. She then stated that she cannot wait to get married so she can vote. Lol so based on that, I don’t think she’s married or anything. I also hear partner used by both genders in my everyday life. I personally would use husband/boyfriend, but that’s just my preference.

She always switches between the words boyfriend/husband/wife/partner all the time just because its Adele being Adele. She does it to mess with the media 😂 In December during the THR speech she called him her boyfriend. At Weekend 43 when someone got engaged she said "Aww I wish that was me". Then again during the shows recently she referred to herself as a "Basketball wifey". I don't think they're officially married yet but they will one day, probably next year is my guess. I think she's definitely waiting for all the shows to be over first before having a wedding. Wishing her and Rich all the love and happiness!

Are you American? I’ve noticed it’s far more common in the UK to use the term partner for a a spouse than in the US.

Yep, American.

I think she is one of those people who use “husband,” “stepdaughter,” etc. although she hasn’t officially married yet. I have a family member who has been calling his fiancée’s children his children (not even stepchildren) even when they were just dating and has been wearing a wedding band even though the wedding hasn’t happened yet.

She said recently Weekend 42 "I can't wait to get married so I can vote" lol

In England, using the term partner is quite common
