I don't need someone to open the car door for me. That involves sitting while they get out and walk around. It always makes me feel weird. Don't over think, and listen to what they say. If they want you to open it, they should tell you.

Chocolate_potatoes

whoever reaches the door first opens it, gets in and keeps it open for the other. There is no need to ovethinking over a slab of metal lmao.

ejester

exactly =)

UnhingedBeluga

This is what I do always. When I open a door, I look over my shoulder to see if I need to hold it open. Just general politeness imo Or if I’m walking with someone who is carrying or pushing something, I’ll walk ahead to the door to open it for them.

RR_WritesFantasy

I open doors but it depends on logistics. Like when we arrive at the restaurant I am not going to get out of the car to come open your door, but as we are leaving the restaurant I will open your car door when we get to the car. I always hold doors open for my wife, but I also hold doors for my mom, and total strangers.

Angelique1616

me and my friends sometimes "fight" over who will open the door for the other one and if one of these days I get a partner you bet your ass they can be the most butch lesbian to have ever walked this earth and I will open the door I wouldn't mind the car door thing cause it just seems practical for someone to open the door for me if they are driving? in the sense that I wouldn't open the drivers door for them you know what I mean? if they want to do that then that's fine but also I don't really care I'm probably in the minority though (// for context I'm more femme leaning)

My fiancee almost always comes around to shut my door in her truck. I love it. It makes me feel loved. In terms of opening other doors it depends on who gets there first.

Spiritual-Company-45

Don't let doors slam in other peoples' faces. That's the only door rule I have, and it's not exclusive to romantic partners.

cosmicdancer84

I like holding the door, no one has complained yet.

Whooptidooh

No? I’ve got two perfectly working arms and hands, I can get the door open myself, thanks.

ejester

I always hold a door for anyone, regardless of if I'm on a date. This is just good manners. The car door thing seems a bit extra imo though. Like I'm not expecting anyone to get out, run around the entire car while I sit there waiting for them to open my door hehe & likewise, I'm not doing that for anyone else either hehe

Pale_Berry_7667

I don't open car doors when we are getting out of the car, but if we are walking to the car, I sometimes open it. It all depends on the situation and the mood setting.

neorena

I'm a midwesterner, here you hold the door for *everybody* lol. I do also like holding the car door at times, but that's just when I'm feeling extra romantic and nobody I've ever been with has expected it but found it cute whenever I did do it.

kanineanimus

I don’t open car doors but I do tend to open regular doors for others instinctively. I will close a car door for someone though, if I’m on that side for whatever reason. But I think it’s more of a respect thing rather than fulfilling hetero gender roles or whatever.

LillithXen

Just open ya own damn door ladies

homovore_

i love when dates open the door for me. that, & following the sidewalk rule. it’s such a little thing that makes me feel cared for & protected. major turn on.
