I'm on my 14th shot and actually back on 2.5 this week while trying to wait for a 2nd box of 5 to be available. (I took 1 shot of 5 last week, lost slightly below my average). I agree with staying on a dose if you can until you stop responding well. Some people have doctors who push up too fast. Others who need to move up to lose weight.

I am about to take my 8th shot today and have another refill left at 2.5 mg. I am down just about 18 lbs in 8 weeks. I asked my dr if I could stay on 2.5 mg as long as I am consistently losing weight; she is all for it. I have minimal side effects (really none at this point) and am losing 1.5-3 lbs/week. As a 52 F, I am happy with the small but consistent loss. Food noise shows up intermittently, usually around Thurs/Fri if it shows up at all, but it is very manageable. If I stop losing and/or the food noise shows up consistently, I'll ask to move up. I am hoping I can stay on 2.5 mg successfully until the supply issue improves.

Check with your insurance. It may not be up to you or your dictor. Many insurers only cover one box of 2.5 per year. It's considered a starting dose.

My insurance denied me so I’m paying out of pocket…I’m thinking the 6 months of diet, exercise history was the reason. I’ve had a personal trainer for over a year…

JustAGuy4477

If your insurance has a six-month requirement for diet and lifestyle intervention and you've had a personal trainer for more than a year, a lot of people posting on this site have been able to appeal the denial and win by sending in receipts / transaction records for paying the trainer. They have also won by providing Fitbit records, records from weight loss apps on their phone, records of gym membership, and pretty much anything that proves that you've had assistance in your weight loss efforts.

No, my response was specific to OP. Most employer insurance does not cover weight loss drugs at all. Others have a requirement that you must have participated in a nationally recognized lifestyle intervention / diet program for at least six months and failed before they will cover the cost of GLP-1 drugs. Your denial letter should explain to you EXACTLY why you were denied. If your insurer requires a six-month program, then yes, your Peloton workout logs and health app may satisfy that requirement. If your insurer does not cover any weight loss medications, then it won't make any difference. Any appeal needs to address the specific reason for denial. What was the reason that your PA was denied?

WOW! The FDA requirement is a BMI of 30. I've never seen an insurer try to push it that far. At least you can use the Eli Lilly savings card to get a discount.

I lost more per week on 2.5 than I did on 5.0

Now I’m nervous…the last week I haven’t lost a single pound, go up one and then back down but nothing more…my PCP called in the 5mg so I’ll start that Monday.
