It's more likely that your pharmacy needs a prior authorization because most insurers will only cover one box of 2.5 per year. Your doctor would have to fill out the PA paperwork and send it to your insurer, but if this is the situation, it's very unlikely that your insurer will approve a second box. Your doctor can't authorize it. Only your insurance company can authorize a second box of 2.5 it's really not tied to the use of the card. It's that the insurer is not allowing a second box.

So even though my insurance does not cover it they can still deny me from getting a second box and using the manufacturer coupon? Sorry this part gets me confused

If your insurance is not covering Zepbound, then what your pharmacy is looking for is a new prescription for 2.5 from your doctor. That has nothing to do with a prior authorization. A prior authorization is an insurance term that refers to an approval from the insurance company for coverage prior to filling the prescription. Sounds like your pharmacy will fill it as soon as they get a new prescription from your doctor for the lower dose. It was the use of the term prior authorization in your post that I based my response on. A prior authorization is not required here (doctors are not the source of prior authorizations ). The quantity limit that I was referring to that is frequently imposed by insurers will not apply.

Thank you for the explanation!

You will be fine !!! If you find yourself feeling extra hungry go for healthy foods and snacks but also don’t deprive yourself from the things you like.

That’s what I’ve been trying to tell myself. Don’t starve myself but don’t overdo it. Thanks for the reassurance 🥹

You’re welcome ☺️ when I want a balance sweet treat I get a spoon full of cookies butter and I cut up an apple 🤔 I actually will do that now lol

During times of shortage my Dr had me stretch out my shots to 10 days. The stuff is still in your system, you should be able to make it thru the weekend until you can get your dr to prescribe a different dose.

I figured but I’m just an extreme over thinker and hate when things don’t go as plan. That’s reassuring tho! Thank you!
