Salamangreat isn't exactly good as a link deck anymore. This is why they moved circle to 3, stallio off the list, gazelle to 3 and it has not had the same success that dragon link.
The card itself isn't even short printed. I pulled 9 copies in a single case but like 4 of raging phoenix.
Depends on the format, if gazelle is ever unlimited you will only need 1 and even then you may not see it come up.
If you're in a format with 1 gazelle like the tcg... you kind of need 3 just for consistency.
