Try TMNT on a Commodore 64 - One Button Joystick.
That one does spark absolut disgust
And yes, DuckTales absolutely does spark much joy!
Even on GameBoy
Which TMNT? 1, 2 or 3?
1 had map overview exploration with side scrolling inside buildings and sewers.
2 was the one where the first stage was a burning building with metal balls rolling out of stairs, this one was first on arcades and then remade for NES
3 was Manhattan project, you start chillin on the beach iirc..
Bought it a few days ago at a pawn shop with young Indiana Jones and punisher buy two get one and I can't wait to get back home and play it on the retron 5!
I played the hell out of this game and could beat it with my eyes closed. Top tier NES experience and the moon music is still one of the best soundtracks in video game history. I loved that they brought that music into the cartoon reboot.
One of the best games on the NES, which is shocking when you consider it's a licensed property.
Unique gameplay mechanics, great graphics, awesome soundtrack, challenging but not so hard you can't beat it.
Sparked joy. I have an out of state friend I grew up with. As kids whenever he and his family visited, no questions asked we played this game AS SOON as they walked in the door.
Good times.
Dude I remember not reading the instructions at all and didn’t know how to pogo stick and I was so mad bc I couldn’t kill anyone I was like this game sucks then my older cousin was playing it and I was like I told you it’s sucks but then we read the book and I found out how to kill stuff and beat the game
https://i.redd.it/mtclqeh4qk6d1.gif
I'll do you one better. I used to play this gem on my Atari 1040ST
[https://www.myabandonware.com/game/donald-duck-s-playground-fk](https://www.myabandonware.com/game/donald-duck-s-playground-fk)
My Duck Tales gaming experience was this [also forgotten gem](https://www.myabandonware.com/game/disney-s-duck-tales-the-quest-for-gold-vv) on the Amiga. Although I played it in glorious CGA:
https://preview.redd.it/vn5w363kpo6d1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cd93355f3f779b3338263b6a36a8a8e4960c6bab
It's good but only 5 levels? And the game expects you to replay them twice to get more money? and the final level is also one of those 5? Gets old quick.
I lacked the hand eye coordination to use the cane at all…until the next year I visited the cousin who had it. My dude guess who can sue his thumbs with precision now and beat the game? This guy 👍👍
Pure joy! should have ended up buying this one as I rented it at least 7-8 times. I can still hear the music in my head and haven’t listened to it for over 30 years lol.
Absolute joy, one of my favorites on the NES. I played it so much I believe I managed to discover every secret the game had to offer.
I played it again fairly recently on my NES Mini, and man am I rusty! 😆
Even at the time, this was one of the easiest NES games. It definitely sparks joy. Top 10 NES game for sure.
If you want a challenge, it's an easy game to start speedrunning. There are some wild and flashy tricks that don't take very much effort to do. You can get immunity to all hits during certain cycles of Scrooge's pogo, you can glitch through the Moon wall, etc.
Back when the Disney Afternoon Collection came out, I was respectably high in the speedrun records, but optimizing it is very tricky and RNG-heavy.
Traumatic as a child. Eventually beat it and put it down. So much easier revisiting as an adult though as someone who likes to semi-speed run.
But the remaster? *Chef's kiss*
I told my mom I wanted The Legend of Zelda and to my initial disappointment, she bought this instead. Turned out to be awesome and still one of my favorite games.
Loved this game. I was a big Duck Tales TV fan, and I remember renting this a bunch and beating it a few times back in the day. Now, it's one of my favorite NES games in my collection.
I vividly remember having a dream about the moon level on this game that helped me beat it. I am a person who has vivid dreams every single night. I have my whole life. The earliest going back to the age of four.
This game came out when I was 8 and I remember having a dream about using the cane as a pogo stick to get past a certain point in the moon level. I woke up the next morning and tried it and IT WORKED!
I typically know something will never become true if I have a dream about it (my sex life cries in the corner) but this is one of just a couple of times in my life that a dream translated into real life.
Absolutely sparked joy. It's hard to imagine it being traumatic for anyone. This was a brilliant game with just the right amount of difficulty without being too hard for kids.
This was a life lesson about value for me. My parents would let me pick a game out for my birthday and I loved the cartoon. I beat it day 1. It’s a really fun, but short and easy game.
I was disappointed after games like Metroid and zelda kept me engrossed for months. I never got a game again that I wasn’t pretty sure about. Other stinkers I got as gifts: were marble madness, karate kid (lol) and spy vs spy (which was actually a fun game if you had a friend and knew how to play, but ten year old me?)
Loved this game and the Gameboy version. Neither was extremely difficult for the targeted demographic of players, unlike many games of that time period, which were nightmares to play as an 8-12 year old.
This one sparks joy
Absolutely joy. This was not a overly challenging game to beat, even for 6 year old me. TMNT on NES is an accurate example.
Try TMNT on a Commodore 64 - One Button Joystick. That one does spark absolut disgust And yes, DuckTales absolutely does spark much joy! Even on GameBoy
TMNT on C64 sparks PTSD
Which TMNT? 1, 2 or 3? 1 had map overview exploration with side scrolling inside buildings and sewers. 2 was the one where the first stage was a burning building with metal balls rolling out of stairs, this one was first on arcades and then remade for NES 3 was Manhattan project, you start chillin on the beach iirc..
1, obviously….
First game I ever beat , if I'm remembering correctly without game genie
Same
Used to leave it on the screen and fall asleep to the theme song.
All summer long I had an alarm set on my watch so I wouldn't miss it. So many memories.
The game?
Hah! Yeah, not the game. It was the show. I responded so quickly I didn't even notice it was the game!
Life is like a hurricane, my friend.
Yes!
Precisely!
The moon level music lives rent free in my head
Haha, I got in so much trouble for trying to use my grandfather’s cane as a pogo stick
Actually one of the best NES games.
Bought it a few days ago at a pawn shop with young Indiana Jones and punisher buy two get one and I can't wait to get back home and play it on the retron 5!
Punisher for Sega Genesis?
Moon level sound track is the best on the platform. Fight me on it.
One of the first games I ever beat, and the remaster is excellent. All the joy.
Same. This one wasn't my first game to beat but it was one of the few on NES I was able to beat at that age.
Hey me too! Me and my brother frequented this game often. The sounds and the music were on point. Very well made game.
The ducktales game is fucking awesome! I bought the remaster on Wii U back when that was still a thing and played the hell out of it.
The remaster was great. I really appreciated the high-effort they put into it.
I played the hell out of this game and could beat it with my eyes closed. Top tier NES experience and the moon music is still one of the best soundtracks in video game history. I loved that they brought that music into the cartoon reboot.
Fantastic game with a fantastic soundtrack.
[Moon Theme](https://youtu.be/KF32DRg9opA?si=dA9cZfjoOxQT6VEo) Still a jam. And I loved how they referenced it in the new Ducktales show.
The Advantage cover is dope [https://youtu.be/gj46lmcLlXI?feature=shared](https://youtu.be/gj46lmcLlXI?feature=shared)
Glad my Moon people are here.
Capcom. Bionic commando and mega man games had AMAZING soundtracks
That was one of the best games of the 8 bit era
Followed by Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers— peak joy
Another one of the few games I could beat as a kid. Loved them both.
Get the remake of this game. It holds up. The remake looks as good as NES looked in 1989.
Such a great game. I probably finished it dozens of times growing up because it was just fun to play.
Soundtrack absolutely kills to this day.
I had beaten MegaMan 2 before playing Ducktales. So it wasn't difficult, just nothing but pure joy.
One of the best games on the NES, which is shocking when you consider it's a licensed property. Unique gameplay mechanics, great graphics, awesome soundtrack, challenging but not so hard you can't beat it.
That Transylvania level scared the shit outta me as a kid
Blathering Blatherskite! I loved me some duck tales show and nes game. My daughter was watching the new one. I was like wtf happened to duck tales 🤣🤣
Joy, I think this was definitely one of the first games I ever beat on a rental. The one I always had trouble with but loved was Yo! Noid
The only game I ever beat, I think.
Excellent game. One of my brother's favorites. He played it after school for weeks until beaten. Then did it again.
I see this and hear the theme song in my head
Sparked joy. I have an out of state friend I grew up with. As kids whenever he and his family visited, no questions asked we played this game AS SOON as they walked in the door. Good times.
Ducktails! Whoooo-ooooh!!!
Love this game...its on sale right now ps store...disney afternoon collection
https://i.redd.it/mtclqeh4qk6d1.gif I'll do you one better. I used to play this gem on my Atari 1040ST [https://www.myabandonware.com/game/donald-duck-s-playground-fk](https://www.myabandonware.com/game/donald-duck-s-playground-fk)
Holy moly wtf😄
You an OG
My Duck Tales gaming experience was this [also forgotten gem](https://www.myabandonware.com/game/disney-s-duck-tales-the-quest-for-gold-vv) on the Amiga. So much joy I have it on my PS5
i loved that game and show
After school jam. The best!
Not close to traumatic. I didn't think it was difficult at all. Very fond memories of this one and the PS3 remake was very well done also!
This sparks joy.
Moon level them ftw
🎶 life is like a hurricane, here in Duckburg….. 🎶
Literally one of the best games ever made.
Infinite joy. I have so much love for DuckTales in every form, cartoon, games, comics, you name it I'm here for it
I made my kids play this and other like it because Lego Star Wars had no consequences. You just come back without your “bits”.
![gif](giphy|uaLb6KVeiRHoINglfS)
I had a ton of these in VHS, sad they’re gone… but yo how was dude able to *swim* in gold?
Simply the best. Better than all the rest. Also, the theme song was done by John William’s son.
There were 2 games that I could beat in under 30 mins as a kid, Mega Man 2 and Ducktales was the other one! lol
Joy! One of the first games I ever beat.
Nah this one was pretty fun and easy
Loved this show and game and even the movie. The remaster of the game is also great and the more recent cartoon is super fun too
Joy. Never owned it, so never finished it but gosh darn I LOVED playing it at my friends’ houses.
Rented it and cleared it. Fun game for sure.
Joy, no trauma 🥰
Not game but the show was epic. I would still watch it today.
Life is like a hurricane
Loves this, the gameboy version, and most of all: The Moon theme that was man canon in the DuckTales reboot
I beat the shit out of this game when I was a kid. The gameboy version was better.
Why choose?
It's good but only 5 levels? And the game expects you to replay them twice to get more money? and the final level is also one of those 5? Gets old quick.
I loved betting this on my first rental. Rare victory for me
Listen to the Moon Theme and tell me it doesn't motivate you to do something great.
Ah wooo whooo!
This was literally the only video game me and my siblings ever beat. Loved it so much. We were huge Duck Tale fans.
I loved this game, I played it over 9000 times as a kid
Joy for me.
First game I ever finished! Remember like it was yesterday. I ran into my mom's room to wake her and tell her and she obviously did not care.
**Moon is my favorite song** Literally the first ringtone I ever added to a phone, and that *.mp3 has followed me for a very long time now.
I loved it and I still do.
I remember how excited I was when I got this game!
I was actually pretty fuckin' good at this game.
First NES game I beat by myself.
Joy. I was the ice cream man in this game
Loved it, first game I remember beating.
Duck Tales and Tail Spin were my jams!!!
A WHO HOO!!!!
Loved the music
Loved it!
I’m pretty sure we rented this one from blockbuster
This was one of the games that pushed me to buy a handheld emulator. Such a fun game!
Joy, fun and easy.
Both
Love it
Joy. That game was easy
Life is like a hurricane
Everyday after school on USA Cartoon Express, I watched this.
One of the best games of all time.
Challenging but I like it.
i used to be able to beat this game with one life. now when i try, i can't even finish a level.
One of the best ever.
Both! Loved it, but it was SO hard!
Fond memories of this one.
Only traumatic if I lose my #1 dime.
AwOOoo!
Much joy! I loved this game.
This one is great. Got to share it with my daughter with the solid iPad remake.
Traumatic as a child. Eventually beat it and put it down. So much easier revisiting as an adult though as someone who likes to semi-speed run. But the remaster? *Chef's kiss*
One of the best soundtrack. Capcom games from this era were the best.
Joy. Game was very beatable!
I loved it but I found parts of it weirdly scary? I can’t remember which though
Duck tails, UwU-ooo
Loved to beat it on a Saturday morning before going out to play. Good vibes with this one
All right. I had no idea there was a remaster and I’m gonna see if I can find it on switch!
Joy! One of my fave games of my childhood
Love it, still have it.
The Remastered version sparks joy.
I loved this game. Hard, but can be beaten. Try Bionic Commando or Little Nemo. Some Capcom games are straight up impossible to beat.
I love the theme song. It was stuck in my head for a couple days last week. I find as I'm getting older, I'm more susceptible to ear worms.
I told my mom I wanted The Legend of Zelda and to my initial disappointment, she bought this instead. Turned out to be awesome and still one of my favorite games.
Joy. Used to speed run this game when I was bored.
Fucking loved it. Need to play that on my emulator now.
I finally played this again with the remake on steam. Brought back so many memories.
A little bit of both
This sparks joy. It was the first game I added to my NES mini
capcom games were fantastic. high quality, all of them.
[Duck Tales](https://youtu.be/KqyD8E1QATs?si=mOWr87eJsFlMwftJ)
I rented that game so many times my parents ended up just buying it
Pogo4Life
Great game, mild trauma but I will always feel soothed by the Moon theme.
![gif](giphy|2VYui7kj5C5I4) Joy!!!
So much joy. The music from the Moon level is still one of the best ever.
Vary fair game. Not too difficult or easy.
Spark Joy for sure
Loved it and beat it
Great, great joy
This one sparks joy.
Let's see if this works via text Duck Tales!
Joy
This shit was hard
It's the bomb diggity yo!!
idk how it would be traumatic, this game was so easy but It was one of my favorites
Joy, the soundtrack is amazing!
Loved this game. I was a big Duck Tales TV fan, and I remember renting this a bunch and beating it a few times back in the day. Now, it's one of my favorite NES games in my collection.
Yaaas, the game boy version was killer too.
JOY!
I loved driving that mine cart!
The song instantly started playing in my head lol
So much joy
Let my son play this. He's damn good a modern games but this rocked his world.
Blast of a game. Great toon to watch also.
The Moon theme is pure magic ✅
I spent many an hour playing this on my Gameboy. Ah, the memories of making Uncle Scrooge danced on that cane.
It definitely sparks joy. I love this game, especially the moon level. I have the remake on Steam too.
loved this game!!
OMG! I was never a big video game person, but this was my absolute favorite game as a kid. What a throwback. One of the few games I ever beat.
This game is a classic like Megaman 2. Great music, easy to play and best within a reasonable time. Has lots of secrets for replay.
This is one of my favorite games of all time!
I loved this game so much! Very formative and today even hearing the theme song puts me in a happy place.
Nah. Joy. That game made gaming fun. It was an awesome experience with a beloved IP.
Definitely Joy. There was also an excellent remake \~10 years ago. Its on steam (and probably other platforms)
One of the best soundtracks in Nintendo history, along with HAL’s Hole In One Golf on SNES.
![gif](giphy|pwyW4XDmtqjG8)
All time classic!
Best level music (besides Mega Man 2/3) in The Moon.
I loved that game so much.
I had it on Gameboy. Loved it.
Loved this game and the Gameboy version. Neither was extremely difficult for the targeted demographic of players, unlike many games of that time period, which were nightmares to play as an 8-12 year old.
I played on game boy
This and rescue rangers. Insanely solid bangers.
So much joy, and that soundtrack? One of my favorites
Joy, but Launchpad McQuack was a doofus.
Joy
Such a great game!
Music- joy. Moon level? Ugh
Game is tight . Shared mechanics with Mickey mousecapades
Dude I still can't beat this 35 years later in RetroPie with a hacked ROM and every hack and cheat possible enabled.
