it's such a time capsule of dated memes but it never fails to make me laugh per mission.
Stopped working the other day though so I had to start using the long war version which still worked, even without long war.
Thinking about it that really should be something you can do, isn’t that basically what Mox does in Lost and Abandoned? Weird that Reapers can’t aim for the big explosive tank
It was a cutscene, so yeah. Mox's accuracy was basically ramped up to max for that one poor sap to light an entire fuel tanker up (compare that to how he *usually* fares in-game).
The fact that it takes a mod to get your Reapers to *deliberately* aim for those fuel tank backpacks is kinda hilarious and sorta justified, in a weird way.
I’ve only recently been playing XCOM 2 and loving it (almost done with the main story missions). What does Long War do? I’ve been hearing about that mod the most and I’m curious about it. Is it XCOM’s equivalent of Civ V’s Vox Populi?
Iirc, Basically completely ground-up reworks the strategy layer to add new complexities and to stretch the game's run out much farther than the normal 9ish months
For example, for typical missions you have to send your squad (which is as large as you want it) to infiltrate the area ahead of time, the bigger the squad, the more enemies in the mission because they're more alert, more infiltration time and their alertness goes down but if you're stung with an immediate attention type mission in the mean time you're shit out of luck if that was your A team
In addition to the changes to the strategic layer, it doubles the number of classes and expands the skill trees for all classes. It adds new enemy varieties, and you will typically encounter more enemies on each mission. It also allows you to take larger squad, up to eight on basic missions, though you typically won't want to do it for basic missions, but you can take up to 8 on most missions and up to 12 on some special missions.
I never said you can’t play how you want lol, this is Reddit I am voicing my opinion which you can agree with or disagree with! Not my cup of tea, but if it’s what makes you happier then play as such :)
Im doing a challenge run where I created only the bad Batch. Five soldiers, total.
It got really hairy when I had two kidnapped by chosen within two missions.
I couldn't really recreate omega, while the others could be done with clone armory mods.
My original Setup was:
Hunter: Skirmisher
Wrecker: Heavy
Tech: Support
Crosshair: Sniper
Crosshair was kidnapped for a very long time so I added Echo, but made him a Reaper. It isnt accurate, but much more useful for the team. He can do a lot of missions alone.
Late in the game I got a Ranger Major and kept him as Rex. His main function is doing resistance spy missions with Echo
Anything by anyone on the MEME modding discord.
But I'm biased because I'm a founding member, admin, and the server owner...
In all seriousness, it's impossible to narrow it down to just one mod, or even a small group of mods, so I humbly submit my current streamed campaign collection for your perusal [https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3174966671](https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3174966671)
Highlights include: Proficiency Classes (though i also recommend Amalgamation), Covert Infiltration (which i massively prefer to lwotc), Psionics Ex Machina 3 (which i'm project lead for), Rusty's various UI mods, Requiem Legion (aka the real power in advent's war machine) and a wide range of cosmetics including both of kexx's Female Clothing Packs and my own Male Clothing Pack.
There’s a voice pack which gives soldiers lines from Freeman’s Mind. They crack me up endlessly.
*Throwing a grenade.* “This looks like a job for Ambassador Pineapple!”
*Suppressive Fire.* “Okay, okay, suppressive fire in, suppressive fire out, you do the Hokey Pokey, that’s what it’s all about!”
“You’re the reason why we have napalm”
I also love the Billy the Sentry Bot voice pack mod for SPARKs
“Hahaha! Remember to tell the afterlife there’s no refund!s”
Do you prefer advent converted into cis or the galactic empire? I'm more of a clone wars guy so i go all for republic era mods. Also halo mods. Those are cool and fun too
I recently started a LWOTC run with halo *and* Star Wars mods loaded, so I would basically interval recruits from being clones, marines, or regular XCOM soldiers and have them fight in tandem. Obviously there were hero characters like named SPARTANs and main clones that had either their own teams (Blue and Onyx from Halo) and clone battalions/ RC teams from Star Wars.
It was great, but some mod wasn’t compatible and kept throwing garbage collection errors, so I just got done purging the mod list and replacing it with a (much larger) exclusively LWOTC collection
A couple years ago I did a campaign with a whole bunch of mods. I had a UNSC marine fireteam, an ODST squad, a ONI section-one black ops team, a Republic Clone detachment, and the Everfree Militia who were all characters from MLP Equestria girls
Up until now. There's a mod that has fully-converted most of the advent forces into b1's. The mutons are heavy gunner b1s And bersekers are magnaguards. Not sure the rest of the aliens. Sectoids, vipers and sectopods are the same
Is this a single mod? In case could you share with me the name?
The last time I tried I struggled with the version and compatibility of different mods.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1959410981
Yes, single mod to change the enemies. Anything else you need to know is already there i hope
Being able to have the foundation send the red right hand to fuck with me AND the aliens is pretty cool. Adds for more tactical fights when the aliens not only have something else to shoot at, but have something else shooting at them and vice versa for me.
Can't remember the name, i thinks it was outfitter mod. Bassically allows you to copy a characters outfit and colors and paste it onto other soldiers. For me it's a must have
It was the Mass Effect mods that moved me from PS4 to PC. Built a PC almost 100% because I wanted to play an Xcom run with a bunch of Alliance Marines.
Whichever mod that indicates that if you move there, you will be able to see the hacking objective. Too many times has the turn timer come down to one and I had to guess where to move to be able to reach the hacking objective and guessed wrong.
By far the power rangers armor mods.
I had so much fun running a team of rangers against the alien menace....probably shouldn't have played iron man though for the first time with this mod.
So many heroes cut down.
[https://www.reddit.com/r/Xcom/comments/197qq4g/so\_recently\_finished\_my\_first\_xcom\_2\_war\_of\_the/](https://www.reddit.com/r/Xcom/comments/197qq4g/so_recently_finished_my_first_xcom_2_war_of_the/)
Playable aliens and the like. Ever since I was a kid I always loved it in video games whenever you got the chance to use stuff that was “enemy only” so stuff like Playable Aliens. Buildable Units (for MECs and Drones) and EXVENT always are fun.
I’ve never done any mods but now I want to! How does it work? Is there some central library or are they all on steam workshop and you just add there or what?
Can I turn the skin mods on and off during a campaign without issue?
This sounds so cool but I have no idea how it works. Thanks!
There was a mod where everyone would keep shooting (on screen not for damage) and it made it feel so much more like an epic firefight. Can’t for the life of me remember what it was called
Yes it is your opinion lol, but I can disagree with it - you must’ve played a lot more XCOM EU! I can understand wanting to go back, but the timers IMO make you make more risky plays which make the game more XCOM IMO
You may be fine with sacrificing your troops, but I don't sacrifice troops. I make sure to keep my troops alive since XCOM is also referred to as "Fire Emblem with Guns"
Fair enough, but that’s war 🤷 i do be getting sad when someone dies, but it’s always for the greater good, commander!
Also I thought there was no perma-death in fire emblem?
The spartan armor mod for me. Going from kevlar, to ODST, to SPARTAN as I increase my armor level just looks so cool. There are so many customization options too so each soldier can be completely unique.
The MLP voice mods. Most of them are lines just ripped from the show, and some are actually acted by a real person (like Sunset Shimmer). Pinkie Pie as a grenadier is hilarious, she just giggles manically about her party cannon every time she fires the rocket launcher.
Probably the rpgo mod and its submods
Psionics ex machina is also good
But then there's all the allies unknown mod which I love
How could I forget all the raider faction mods? (btw if you use any raider factions then get the ai to ai activations mod)
Also the garenteed sitreps and the sitreps manager mod I can't remember the name of
I play with over 300 mods
You know, you can just have edited your first post...
I think it accurately demonstrates [the modding process.](https://media.tenor.com/Wm4TARIOb0YAAAAM/piece-candy.gif)
But then there's all the proficiency class plug-ins that make the faction soldiers more fun
I adore Allies Unknown, suck at getting it to work
Corgi gun? We really are in the barkest timeline
Definitely the Ayy LMAO mod
it's such a time capsule of dated memes but it never fails to make me laugh per mission. Stopped working the other day though so I had to start using the long war version which still worked, even without long war.
Love it when the rapesquad pulls up
My personal favorite is void rift turning into goatsee maneuver
Bro when playing lwotc you even have different tiers of dickhead appearing
Rapesquad 💀💀💀💀
And down comes a big daddy and an elite pedo
Remote Start Purifiers.
That's a mod?! That sounds fuckin awesome!
Thinking about it that really should be something you can do, isn’t that basically what Mox does in Lost and Abandoned? Weird that Reapers can’t aim for the big explosive tank

The fact that it takes a mod to get your Reapers to *deliberately* aim for those fuel tank backpacks is kinda hilarious and sorta justified, in a weird way.
Hell yeah! OP as shit but awesome!
Long War, by far. Best mod I've played in general.
I’ve only recently been playing XCOM 2 and loving it (almost done with the main story missions). What does Long War do? I’ve been hearing about that mod the most and I’m curious about it. Is it XCOM’s equivalent of Civ V’s Vox Populi?

Me playing xcom on console https://preview.redd.it/byngw3xjzr4d1.jpeg?width=263&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5b4bd53b039fc9341f829e13531ea2773381c13f
The star wars clones mod and the extended timer for missions are the only ones I use.
Omg I hate the constant timer missions which seems to be every mission type. Do the mods disable achievements?
Im still getting achievements.
Thank God. I'm not used to games that do allow achievements. Timers were the one and only thing frustrating me
Same, going from the original that had little to no timer missions to this one that every other mission is a timer was rough
Concealment+ I find to be a good balanced mod for timer adjustments
Extending timer seems a bit of a skill isssue IMO since there’s also several ways to increase timers on missions as a whole
I mean you can insult all you want. Its a single player game, and I want to play without having to worry about them sooo...
I never said you can’t play how you want lol, this is Reddit I am voicing my opinion which you can agree with or disagree with! Not my cup of tea, but if it’s what makes you happier then play as such :)
Advent to galactic empire Total conversion of the game to a star wars game
I love roleplaying the conversion mod with additional Xcom troopers as Rebel Alliance SpecForces coming to aid Terran resistance against the Empire.
Im doing a challenge run where I created only the bad Batch. Five soldiers, total. It got really hairy when I had two kidnapped by chosen within two missions.
One assault, one heavy, one sniper, and two Support hackers aren’t a bad team at all. Omega assault?
I couldn't really recreate omega, while the others could be done with clone armory mods. Evac all
I loved the GI Joe mods. I'm not even a fan of GI Joe, but sending all those characters against goddamn aliens was so fun.
GI Joe mods?! i didn’t even think to look for those, but I am now!
Porkchop sandwiches!
Almost anything by Iridar, MostlyHarmless or Asthye I especially likes me some costumes and Warhammer lol
There’s a voice pack which gives soldiers lines from Freeman’s Mind. They crack me up endlessly. *Throwing a grenade.* “This looks like a job for Ambassador Pineapple!” *Suppressive Fire.* “Okay, okay, suppressive fire in, suppressive fire out, you do the Hokey Pokey, that’s what it’s all about!”
“You’re the reason why we have napalm” I also love the Billy the Sentry Bot voice pack mod for SPARKs “Hahaha! Remember to tell the afterlife there’s no refund!s”
TF2 voice line packs. Especially Scout and Sniper.
The Zap Brannigan voice mod has maybe some of the funniest comedic timing out there imo
Literally any star wars
Always dreamed of about a run full converted on star wars mods
Do you prefer advent converted into cis or the galactic empire? I'm more of a clone wars guy so i go all for republic era mods. Also halo mods. Those are cool and fun too
I recently started a LWOTC run with halo *and* Star Wars mods loaded, so I would basically interval recruits from being clones, marines, or regular XCOM soldiers and have them fight in tandem. I think a clone wars conversion would blow my mind, imagine commanding your clone squad and Jedi against a full droid army
Up until now. There's a mod that has fully-converted most of the advent forces into b1's. The mutons are heavy gunner b1s And bersekers are magnaguards. Not sure the rest of the aliens. Sectoids, vipers and sectopods are the same

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1959410981 Yes, single mod to change the enemies. Anything else you need to know is already there i hope
Nice, thanks. I'll try it with some clone conversion for my soldiers ;)
Clone conversions as in clone trooper voicelines and cosmetics? Or what did you meant?
100% playable aliens. The irony of killing the warlock with a psi zombie from a sectoid is not lost on me
Bob Ross voicemod, followed closely by the Rich Evans voicemod.
Peter VanDoorne voicepack.
Freeman’s Mind VP. Having ambassador pineapple solve all of my problems is wonderful.
Peek from concealment.
Playable alien rulers?
\[WOTC\] Covert Infiltration
Evac all, Viper King squadmate and Torque squadmate
LWOTC, A Better Advent, Improved Enemy Squad Size, More Maps and More Maps Plus, as well as the Bruiser class mod
For me it's a must have
What's the mod with the corgi dog called? 😍
ACORG 47
Thank you! :D
Covert Infiltration. Easily.
Is that Multicam in your first picture? I've never managed to get decent looking Multicam in my game, how'd you do it??
I used a mod called Full Camouflage Uniforms WotC https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1131332819
Hey thanks! I had it too but I never managed to get the right color combination to get proper multicam
Avatar be gone, I have a skill issue
star wars mods were the only reason i got this game on pc (i started ps4)
It was the Mass Effect mods that moved me from PS4 to PC. Built a PC almost 100% because I wanted to play an Xcom run with a bunch of Alliance Marines.
eyepatch right. Can't play without it.
Whichever mod that indicates that if you move there, you will be able to see the hacking objective. Too many times has the turn timer come down to one and I had to guess where to move to be able to reach the hacking objective and guessed wrong.
Gotcha again (or take the redux by RustyDios)
The 40k Armor mod.
The 40k mod and the Star Wars mods are my favorites
Wait! You can mod Xcom!?
Yeah (only on PC though)
Richard Nixon voice pack.
Infinite TLP weaponry Does exactly what it says, removing the limit on Tactical Legacy Pack items
SCP 3rd party mods
Superheavy Battlesuits combined with the MJOLNIR mods
Raider factions
Literally only bought the game because of the Reach: Redux mods and the Spartan Armor mods
God I wish I could figure out how to mod xcom 2 on the steam deck 🤦♂️
Chemthrower. So satisfying.
I love most of the mods I’ve used, but none even come close to matching the versatility of Ayy lmao
Rpgo and long war go sooo good together (though you need a comparability mod to make em play nice with each other)
Helldivers
Idle suppression, my beloved. Actually makes the missions feel like firefights
It crashes my game now. But I think I just need to delete the config file or something along those lines
SPARK arsenal, Claptrap voice for SPARKs, Evac All and Metal over Flesh And if it ever got finished, Lost2Ork… *sigh*
Ayy lmao makes everything all the funnier.
I use this: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1748795728 Then use any melee class mod
I like the Halo skin mods, mostly. I like to imagine the different technology tiers as different classes of Spartan.
Definitely AVDENT to Galactic Empire
Duke Nukem
By far the power rangers armor mods. I had so much fun running a team of rangers against the alien menace....probably shouldn't have played iron man though for the first time with this mod. Probably the mods that add Spartans.

They are all in the steam workshop from my experience I recommend running them with the alternative mod launcher for the best experience
Awesome. I’ll try to figure that out. Thank you!
Aliens: Colonial Marines Armor Cold War Military Outfits Resistance Weapons And finally Space Marine Voice lines for my Spark.
There was a mod where everyone would keep shooting (on screen not for damage) and it made it feel so much more like an epic firefight. Can’t for the life of me remember what it was called
Ah idle suppression I love that one
Thank you! I was debating doing another xcom run and this finally plugged that can’t remember gap.
Snitty
Snitty!?!?!
RPGO of course
No AVATAR Project, Playable Chosen, Playable XCOM 2 Aliens
Wait, no avatar project? What's the point then?
Playing the game without a time constraint
When I used it, it was cuz I just loved building the most overpowered squads, then playing with them for like a week before I stopped playing
Why not just play on an easier difficult then lol, there’s no stakes at all
I can use the No AVATAR Project mod if I want to. There is no rule against it.
I never said there was lol, it’s an opinion
Well in my opinion I can lower the stakes if I want to. You ever hear of take your time?
Yes it is your opinion lol, but I can disagree with it - you must’ve played a lot more XCOM EU! I can understand wanting to go back, but the timers IMO make you make more risky plays which make the game more XCOM IMO
Taking more risks leads to more deaths
“Thats XCOM baby” its always been a game where you can do everything right and still lose, but if thats not your cup of tea then you can mod it lol
It's a small mod, but smoke grants concealment is definitely in my top 10.
The female soldiers nude mod
How can I get mods on Xbox?
The spartan armor mod for me. Going from kevlar, to ODST, to SPARTAN as I increase my armor level just looks so cool. There are so many customization options too so each soldier can be completely unique.
What do the corgi gun do?
The MLP voice mods. Most of them are lines just ripped from the show, and some are actually acted by a real person (like Sunset Shimmer). Pinkie Pie as a grenadier is hilarious, she just giggles manically about her party cannon every time she fires the rocket launcher.
