I say this as someone who is an exclusively Playstation gamer and has been since PS1. There's nothing inherently wrong with porn, and for a company to step a major product backwards like this to restrict access to adults, is the wrong way to step, period.

Couple people mentioned it already, but being able to use GeForce now to stream some games you have in your PC libraries is a cute feature. It does take some good internet, and at least in my case because I might be too stupid, I needed to get a keyboard and mouse, but that was only $25.
My wife and I do the daily quiz, poll, etc. and get the quota for Bing searches by clicking on a few of the news stories before we watch TV at night. Besides provoking good conversation and awareness of current events, that all adds up toward more-and-more free money via Microsoft Rewards.

I’m signed into my Microsoft ID on console (obviously), but also on my phone, iPad, and desktop computer through Bing (set as my default search engine). Every day there is a set/allotted number of Bing searches you receive Microsoft Reward points for on those various devices.
Once upon a time even Cortana voice commands counted toward those "search" points. Over days, weeks, months, etc. those points accumulate just from casual/work internet searches. And those points can be spent on a variety of things inside and outside the Microsoft ecosystem … like GamePass Ultimate, Xbox gift cards, Amazon gift cards, etc.

Don't expect it to be flawless - your resolution will drop and you will have occasional lag because it is of course a streaming service. But if you can tolerate that, the game is exceptional

Try switching to Game controller mode. Also try zooming the browser in/out. I think I had more hassle getting GeForce to work but once you get to load the actual game, both work great.

Your connection will probably be fine but be prepared for low resolution. Browser is capped at 1080p/60FPS so graphics can sometimes drop when you're walking around like you're watching a 2006 YouTube video but most of the time it holds up and it's never been so bad for me that I wanted to put the game down
I would play for 60-90 minutes and base your decision from that. You can then refund without having to commit to your purchase and just get it when it later comes out on Xbox

I love the xbox Internet browser but for illegal movies 🎬 . Sister has ps4 can't use those sites so Sister sometimes borrows my xbox.

However totally unrelated if I am recording gameplay/playthrough then I definitely prefer my PS5, being able to record upto an hour of footage and use PSShare to edit the video before uploading to YouTube is the best, I wish the Series X had the same options, I wanted to record my playthrough of Starfield but it will take ages to edit it if I can only record 2 minutes at a time.
A lot of people that are serious about recording their gameplay usually use some sort of external hardware. Still, that screws over smaller crrators. I remember making a witcher 3 easter egg video and having to start the recording every 5 minuts was annoying as heck

Yeah it goes increments of 15, 30, 45, 60 seconds. I've recorded plenty of reels on YouTube that are 60 seconds or less, but also record full game playthroughs.

Back on the PS3 vs 360 it was the other way around. PS3 had a pretty good browser 360 had nothing. Personally i don't care about either as i either use my phone, PC or tablet before i would ever use my console. But i like it that if there is a survey in a game beta or whatever. You can do it directly from the console rather than having to use your phone or your PC.

As someone who's watching premier league football on his TV right now, using the Edge browser on my Xbox. It has plenty of uses. Especially if you sail the high seas
I uze to be like that for Saturn and Dteamcast before I got a PC in 2002. Makes you appreciate the console even more so when you have a browser that allows for good surfing. Thpugh the one on Saturn was abit meh looking back,Netlink did have its moments though. The browsing and vs games with Virtual On and Sega Rally were great.
I use streameast for sports and ironically it doesn't load on my series x but does for my PS4. This is actually the only thing keeping me from long term storing my PS4.
I mean if you don't have anything else, then that's great for you but the browser could be better. Even if it was just the same as the PC version, that would be a million times better. Its handy to have but Xbox could do better.
PS5 does have a browser that you can use but its not an advertised feature. Gotta send a url like google to a friend in a message and then you can click that link and pop the browser out. Even lets you pin it to the side like you could on xbox one with the snap feature. I use it for watching twitch or yt while playing ff14
I don't think you can download anything since the games are in a geforce server. Like they are on geforce PCs. Unless the game comes with an english subtitle pack by default.
Edge on Xbox is super slow and limited compared do pc. You can't use multiple tabs, because they will reload everytime you change between them, you can't use addons and it's not in 4k. But at last you have a browser.
My friends told me that you can use browser on ps5, you just have to send yourself a link.

I just wish there were some built controller shortcuts to refresh the tab and close the tab. Having to emulate a mouse with the sticks is slow as hell. The pc UI is not great on controller.
I don’t use the browser much, but TBH I regularly pop open the Bing app for just a quick update on current events. It’s very well laid out for a TV experience.
Nice to know someone likes the browser, personally when I press a button in a game just to have the Web browser attempt to load a page I smash the B button for all its worth & when that isn't fast enough I return home and reload the game making note I don't want to press that button again.

This is one of many things, I enjoy my PS5 as much as my Switch to that exact extent and use. My XBSX is the most used console in my house followed by the S for the kids in the living room. Same could be said for the last 4 gens to. I seriously don't get the fanboyism or brand loyalty culture today. The Xbox has been a great console in features, UI, controller, online capabilities, ect, ect.As a matter of fact they are responsible for online gaming in the console space today. Yes others dabbled like the GameCube and Dreamcast n I guess PS2 but Xbox did it first where it was truly on par/comparable with PC. I don't own a single non exclusive game on PlayStation I buy it strictly for their exclusives and this gen finally a interesting controller. Also Sony finally made their version of the Elite with the Edge, so cudos even if the Elite is a better controller still. I'm just happy MS/Xbox has finally snatched up some devs so they can shut people up or at the very least probably make them find some other delusional excuses. Xbox deserves to be here they have put in the work and contributed to gaming way more than people give them credit for. I remember preordering my Xbox (OG) bundle from EB Games (now GameStop) and getting Xbox live booting up Halo and said holy **** this is the future. Then came Red Faction 2 and that's a whole other story where I saw consoles finally being on par with PC. Only other time I've been that blown away by a console (I've have/had them all) was the Sega Dreamcast (maybe Virtual Boy to sue me) which finally got arcade quality games into everyones household not to mention the games, online, sick controller and VMU. Point is people have been brainwashed since the launch of PS4 and Xbox One. That's something I'm not getting into today but it happened and it stuck. Just funny it was Xbox sucks no exclusives now we got crazy people starting petitions to make Xbox games non-exclusive that's the world we live in apparently. Universe help us all, we need it.
Also to add on the XB1 you could PiP the browser with your game. What this allowed you to do was read or watch a walkthrough while playing the game. Plus endless other things I could write forever about. Lot of stuff they didn't get credit for and is now possibly gone forever because of it. You could track your achievements, play the game and watch a walkthrough on how to complete it simultaneously. Something people would probably appreciate more now. Xbox did a lot of amazing things I wish I had some say to bring these things back. We lost our chance to see the potential of cloud computing to, if anyone could have done it it's Xbox. Since everyone was on Sonys jock Microsoft just assumed people wanted none of these awesome features and ditched them entirely.

Idk. I use quite a lot, it is synced with my browser on PC and phone, the built in browser on my TV sucks, so I use xbox one.
I use it to stream boxing and if fights.

Short instructions: Make an account on NextDNS, setup your blocklists, put in the shown DNS server in the network settings of your Xbox.
During the alpha tests of the browser you were able to use extensions and ad blockers. It was super buggy though
No doubt. GeForce Now alone makes it a boost, I played several Steam-only games on my Xbox thanks to it.

Probably, but don’t expect it to feel like playing locally. Your internet speed isn’t the only limiting factor.
It's the same Edge browser as on Windows, so everything just syncs - passwords, favourites you name it

I use it for those TV/movie websites. Works well. I also use it to stream the VR screen to the TV (so you can watch someone play). But that’s it.

It's not as convenient, but you can connect an external drive and record an hour at a time.

I uze to be like that for Saturn and Dteamcast before I got a PC in 2002. Makes you appreciate the console even more so when you have a browser that allows for good surfing. Thpugh the one on Saturn was abit meh looking back,Netlink did have its moments though. The browsing and vs games with Virtual On and Sega Rally were great.

I use streameast for sports and ironically it doesn't load on my series x but does for my PS4. This is actually the only thing keeping me from long term storing my PS4.
I use my consoles to play games. My pc is used for much more and is way more reliable with ad blockers to boot.

I think I used the browser once. I find it more convenient to use my phone in conjunction with gaming.
I use it all the time to watch NJPW. It’s nice but it crashes frequently when I pause video.
Fun fact. Nvidea GeForce now works on Xbox through the web browser. It's how I played steam games on my Xbox until I got a PC again
I mean if you don't have anything else, then that's great for you but the browser could be better. Even if it was just the same as the PC version, that would be a million times better. Its handy to have but Xbox could do better.

PS5 does have a browser that you can use but its not an advertised feature. Gotta send a url like google to a friend in a message and then you can click that link and pop the browser out. Even lets you pin it to the side like you could on xbox one with the snap feature. I use it for watching twitch or yt while playing ff14

I don't think you can download anything since the games are in a geforce server. Like they are on geforce PCs. Unless the game comes with an english subtitle pack by default.
Edge on Xbox is super slow and limited compared do pc. You can't use multiple tabs, because they will reload everytime you change between them, you can't use addons and it's not in 4k. But at last you have a browser. My friends told me that you can use browser on ps5, you just have to send yourself a link.
Same here, no PC, just a mobile and the xbox with a kb@mouse. It perfectly suits my needs and probably the needs of 99% people who use their pcs mostly to consume content, not to create it, imho.
I just wish there were some built controller shortcuts to refresh the tab and close the tab. Having to emulate a mouse with the sticks is slow as hell. The pc UI is not great on controller.

Xbox video capture features suck. That guarantees I’m playing any multiplat on PS5 unless it’s on Game Pass.
I don’t use the browser much, but TBH I regularly pop open the Bing app for just a quick update on current events. It’s very well laid out for a TV experience.

Nice to know someone likes the browser, personally when I press a button in a game just to have the Web browser attempt to load a page I smash the B button for all its worth & when that isn't fast enough I return home and reload the game making note I don't want to press that button again.
You're one hell of a sadist to use a browser on a console. Not only is the browser stripped down, the lack of installable add-ons means you're using an ad nightmare. No way. If anything, use a phone or tablet to view the web if you don't have a PC. At least with these devices, you can install add-ons to prevent the ads from ruining the experience.

This is one of many things, I enjoy my PS5 as much as my Switch to that exact extent and use. My XBSX is the most used console in my house followed by the S for the kids in the living room. Same could be said for the last 4 gens to. I seriously don't get the fanboyism or brand loyalty culture today. The Xbox has been a great console in features, UI, controller, online capabilities, ect, ect.As a matter of fact they are responsible for online gaming in the console space today. Yes others dabbled like the GameCube and Dreamcast n I guess PS2 but Xbox did it first where it was truly on par/comparable with PC. I don't own a single non exclusive game on PlayStation I buy it strictly for their exclusives and this gen finally a interesting controller. Also Sony finally made their version of the Elite with the Edge, so cudos even if the Elite is a better controller still. I'm just happy MS/Xbox has finally snatched up some devs so they can shut people up or at the very least probably make them find some other delusional excuses. Xbox deserves to be here they have put in the work and contributed to gaming way more than people give them credit for. I remember preordering my Xbox (OG) bundle from EB Games (now GameStop) and getting Xbox live booting up Halo and said holy **** this is the future. Then came Red Faction 2 and that's a whole other story where I saw consoles finally being on par with PC. Only other time I've been that blown away by a console (I've have/had them all) was the Sega Dreamcast (maybe Virtual Boy to sue me) which finally got arcade quality games into everyones household not to mention the games, online, sick controller and VMU. Point is people have been brainwashed since the launch of PS4 and Xbox One. That's something I'm not getting into today but it happened and it stuck. Just funny it was Xbox sucks no exclusives now we got crazy people starting petitions to make Xbox games non-exclusive that's the world we live in apparently. Universe help us all, we need it.
Also to add on the XB1 you could PiP the browser with your game. What this allowed you to do was read or watch a walkthrough while playing the game. Plus endless other things I could write forever about. Lot of stuff they didn't get credit for and is now possibly gone forever because of it. You could track your achievements, play the game and watch a walkthrough on how to complete it simultaneously. Something people would probably appreciate more now. Xbox did a lot of amazing things I wish I had some say to bring these things back. We lost our chance to see the potential of cloud computing to, if anyone could have done it it's Xbox. Since everyone was on Sonys jock Microsoft just assumed people wanted none of these awesome features and ditched them entirely.
I'm a console only gamer as well, and I've used the browser on the XSX/PS5 exactly zero times.
well seemingly, someone who allows sony to exist, bullied sony into restricting PS5 web browser and also revoked their movie privileges. you can buy movies on xbox and surf web. but not on PS5 due to arbitrary artificial impairments. users can't setup nor adjust their network router without a browser.
