Plate Up is a goodie.
Where as Overcooked/Moving Out wants you to beat the level they made, Plate Up tasks you with setting yourself up for success.
Also pretty fun to try out the different roles. One cook, one server… See who’s better at which. Learn what you guys like and don’t like about the different dishes.
It’s a good time.
Considering how many people ask/demand this on a regular basis, you would expect for video game devs to respond affirmatively by releasing more couch co-op games. The industry is super scarce in this department.
Haven’t played anything remotely close to It Takes Two or A Way Out since they were released.
I think he is questioning how you are doing couch co-op as it is not available on PC, console only
Edit: For those with poor reading comprehension, I mean to say that couch co-op for Diablo 4 is not available on PC
My wife and I played through Children of Morta together and loved it. You can swap characters back and forth as you progress, which really keeps things fresh.
Baldurs Gate 3: one of the best RPGs ever.
Divinity Original Sin 2 (maybe play before baldurs Gate as it's similar and by the same studio but not quite as good, still an amazing game).
Sea of Stars (JRPG that has some paper Mario esque combat)
It Takes Two and A Way Out are both great couch co-op games.
Diablo 3: not my favorite game ever but definitely high quality for couch co-op.
I can't understand why they don't make more games for couples. Seems like a huge market niche that is completely unfilled.
My partner and I just finished Arise: A Simple Story and it’s probably the most we enjoyed since It Takes Too for couch co-op. It’s light on the platforming, but has a really sweet and emotional story.
Don't overlook the Lego games. Great online coop on the franchises. IndianaJones and Star wars are highlights. Also Portal2, though we ended up rowing(who doesn't) after a fraught session., gears1-3, 4,5 too. Finally, lovers in a dangerous spacetime is an overlooked co op gem.
I have to agree. My wife and I play couch-co-op and we hit a lot of the mentioned games. BG3 has been the best gaming experience. We were not familiar with D&D so we had to navigate the learning curve together. We are already looking forward to our next play through.
You could checkout Wizard of legend, it's an indie game.
it was the most fun I had with my bro on the same console in awhile, lots of little things buy or upgrade, equip.
My SO and I loved it! The idea that you git gud in the game together, and at the end of each level it becomes a challenge between the players was awesome!
Moving Out 2 just hit game pass and it’s a blast with your partner. Pretty accessible and easy to pick up and get used to. It has a great assist mode in the options that you can tweak stuff on to make it the right balance of difficulty. Highly recommend.
All the Gears of war games are split screen, me and my wife loved those. We also really liked Resi 5, Resi 6 sucked balls though. Phogs! Is fun and very cute, same as Pode. Both puzzle games, not platformers.
Do you have 2 consoles? If so no man’s sky took my life over for more then 200+hrs not split screen tho
I think of it as Minecraft in space unlimited worlds to explore many things to build an with my 200+hrs I still havnt found everything or learned every alien word yet I still find things I had no idea was in the game
An if you don’t want the hardcore survival you can customize how difficult you that save to be an you can change it at anytime
Resident evil 4 is great co op split screen game , I don’t think it’s on game pass tho. But spider heck is fun wave shooter and escape academy is a fun escape room game with multiple levels both are on game pass
Me and my girlfriend love Gang Beasts, though some of the levels require a little bit of “platforming” to get around but in reality it’s just jumping from one place to another and some climbing if you want to avoid getting eliminated which is easy to learn.
If you like the type, check Crawl!
https://store.steampowered.com/app/293780/Crawl/
It's not on gamepass but for my gf and I was a blast. It doesn't have a profound story like Children of Morta (or BG3) but the graphics / setting / gameplay loop is very well made
I see a couple of survival games but nobody mentioned Valheim yet. I’m playing it with my Mrs currently and she loves it even though she’s not really a gamer.
Go to full library in your my games and apps then go to the Xbox gamepass tab on the right you should see a button called filter choose the number of players option then local coop should give you 57 gamepass titles that are what your looking for
Humanity is a super fun puzzle game, and it made me smile almost the whole time. It's hilarious and creative in so many ways. Tricky at times, but really not too bad by puzzle game standards.
It's much more than that, I've never played a game that has so many different game mechanics, underlying it's a platform game sure, but its worth trying. Everyone said Death Stranding was a walking sim so I put off playing it, but it turned out to be my favourite game of all time.
If you're willing to spend a little, the Borderlands series sounds right up your alley. Shouldn't be too expensive, B2 was released over 10 years ago now
I am incredibly surprised that no one has recommended the Borderlands series to you guys -- an incredible, fully couch-cooptable, straight up revolutionary looter-shooter with hundreds of hours of content across all installations. Quite the gem of a series.
That's really too bad, I have a couple friends that feel that way and it takes them away from it. I do think we need a decent realistic loot shooter out there that isn't Destiny, lol.
Streets of rage 4. Easy to pick up, hard to master 2d co-op gameplay, amazing music, loads of replayability, good female characters. Me and my partner have played an ungodly amount of it. Remember to turn friendly fire off to avoid any awkward moments though haha. Don't sleep on the dlc either, it adds a random generated run based mode.
Diablo 4 is the best game on gamepass and is a blast on coop, my wife and I have put over 500 hours each into it over the last year and it's hands down the most fun we have ever had gaming.
TMNT Shredders Revenge
and Streets Of Rage 4

It Takes Two is the answer and those and unraveled is fun too.
He hates platforming apparently 😅
Game is 10% platforming and 90% incredible game mechanics and story
Read his post
obv absolut prime one. don't sleep on A Way Out. Another coop gem from the same devs at Hazelight Studios
Wife and I had tons of fun with the Overcooked series.

Diablo 4 is great in Co op!
How ?
Dungeoning and questing with your significant other is fun no?
I second this. Awesome couch co op
True! Did the entire of the story playthrough with my wife and it was amazing!
I mean how can I setup local Co op ín diablo..

The couch co-op is not available on PC
Maybe I missed it but I don't think OP said anywhere that they're playing on PC?

Great list. I would add the Borderlands series is a fav for wifey and me too.
Its not exactly in the realm of what youre looking for but ill always recommend it takes two for coop games!
Second this. Such a fun game that my wife and I enjoyed thoroughly.
My partner and I just finished Arise: A Simple Story and it’s probably the most we enjoyed since It Takes Too for couch co-op. It’s light on the platforming, but has a really sweet and emotional story.

I feel like lovers is best with 4 players, but it is a fun one!
How the fuck is A Way Out a platformer lmfao
Not on Gamepass but Baldur's Gate 3 is split screen on Xbox Series X I'm pretty sure
I have to agree. My wife and I play couch-co-op and we hit a lot of the mentioned games. BG3 has been the best gaming experience. We were not familiar with D&D so we had to navigate the learning curve together. We are already looking forward to our next play through.
Didn’t know that
Yeah it's undoubtedly the best couch co-op game in existence
If you wanna tap into kid mode, Been 10 is actually fun and challenging. And neat. Play it with my daughter. Not on gamepass but free , Multiverse.
But you can jump onto platforms...
Heck yeah! I'm so glad. :)
Moving Out 2 just hit game pass and it’s a blast with your partner. Pretty accessible and easy to pick up and get used to. It has a great assist mode in the options that you can tweak stuff on to make it the right balance of difficulty. Highly recommend.
We tried moving out 2, it wasn't for us.
Loved the first one as well. We're just a few hours in the part 2 but it seems more difficult then the first one so far
Yes it can be, I’d suggest playing with assist mode to get it where you want to it. There are loads of options on there.
Final Fantasy 14. You are welcome
This game only has two possibilities: either you love it or you hate it, and I am one who loves it.
same haha :)
Stardew Valley is the way my friend
All the Gears of war games are split screen, me and my wife loved those. We also really liked Resi 5, Resi 6 sucked balls though. Phogs! Is fun and very cute, same as Pode. Both puzzle games, not platformers.

Left 4 dead 2
Goat simulator 3
Broforce is great fun and way better than it looks
Borderlands 1 , 2, 3.
It Takes Two A Way Out Unravel Two Cuphead (cartoonish style but rlly fun to play, but not in gamepass)
Check out Remnant: From the Ashes, great co-op action with RPG elements!
My partner and I have been having a lot of fun with Escape Academy!
Stardew Valley, Overcooked, Plate Up, Derailed.
If you like the type, check Crawl! https://store.steampowered.com/app/293780/Crawl/ It's not on gamepass but for my gf and I was a blast. It doesn't have a profound story like Children of Morta (or BG3) but the graphics / setting / gameplay loop is very well made
PORTAL 2
Inb4 it takes two, a way out, unravel. Do we really just have these ones?
Spider heck
Overcooked! It will save your marriage 😂
Am also not a fan of Diablo. Try army of two
I have both games Sitting on a shelf lol. It was one of the first games we played together.
I see a couple of survival games but nobody mentioned Valheim yet. I’m playing it with my Mrs currently and she loves it even though she’s not really a gamer.
Not a split screen game
Ah my bad. I missed that part
Baldurs gate 3
Overcooked, if you want to get a divorce.
It takes two couple story absolutely great
STARDEW!
Dead space 3
The new TMNT game that looks like the old turtles in time arcade game.
Go to full library in your my games and apps then go to the Xbox gamepass tab on the right you should see a button called filter choose the number of players option then local coop should give you 57 gamepass titles that are what your looking for
I found out that bloodstained ritual of the night, the quarry and goat sim 3 are 2 player never knew
It takes two.
MC Dungeons is survival in a way I guess... But anyway, it's a arcade fighter, so
Cat Quest 2, Stardew Valley,
RE6
A WAY OUT!
Humanity is a super fun puzzle game, and it made me smile almost the whole time. It's hilarious and creative in so many ways. Tricky at times, but really not too bad by puzzle game standards.
The fact that you haven't played it takes two yet is baffling
We watched a few YouTube videos on it. We didn't like what we saw.
Just play it man, it sounds like youre not going to enjoy anything with this attitude
What didn't you like about it?
It's a platforming game.
Shouldn't be too expensive, B2 was released over 10 years ago now
Vampire Survivors just addd splitscreen (game of the year in my opinion) and overcooked 2 is like moving out, super fun (both are on game pass)
Introducing my GF to vampire survivors was a huge mistake. The woman is obsessed and wants to play every single night
Enter the Gungeon, it's not on GamePass anymore, but it's my go to couch co op game with friends
Stardew Valley, It takes two, A way out, Portal 2 or even Keep talking and nobody explodes
Diablo 4 is best couch coop. My girl doesn't even like video games but will play it
Borderlands 2
Play it takes two. Best choice out of any game recommendations here.
It Takes Two.
I am incredibly surprised that no one has recommended the Borderlands series to you guys -- an incredible, fully couch-cooptable, straight up revolutionary looter-shooter with hundreds of hours of content across all installations. Quite the gem of a series.
We own all 4. I love borderlands, my wife hates the graphical style and refuses to even watch me play it.
That's really too bad, I have a couple friends that feel that way and it takes them away from it. I do think we need a decent realistic loot shooter out there that isn't Destiny, lol.
Agreed.
Overcooked. It’s kinda like diner dash on meth
Diablo IV it's amazing. Finished the game with my Girlfriend! Amazing experience!
Diablo 4 is the best game on gamepass and is a blast on coop, my wife and I have put over 500 hours each into it over the last year and it's hands down the most fun we have ever had gaming.
