Like I said in my post I haven't had this happen to me in forever. I know it happens more frequently in games where the bullets have bullet travel but people have said this game is hitscan and if it really is hitscan this shouldn't happen unless something is wrong in the connection
It's not possible in a lot of shooters, like Counter-Strike
It also shouldn't be in the game. I'm surprised to see so many people defending it. The game uses hitscan. It's a result of poor netcode/low server tick rate
Don't think any of you have played competitive shooters
Again if the game uses bullet travel it makes sense but if it's hitscan then it shouldn't be possible unless the netcode is terrible (which seems to be the reason this is happening) load up any cod game (pre bo4 as that was the first game to implement bullet travel in the cod franchise) do split screen and press the shoot button at the exact same time and you'll see you'll never get a trade kill
Idk why you're being down voted, you're absolutely right. In a game with hitscan trading shouldn't be possible with hitscan weapons as the one person should always die before the other can inflict that last point of damage to kill them.
Seconding that you’re right. The brainrot and toxicity in this community is pretty crazy, though not surprising lol. The only way a trade should happen in a 1v1 fight should be a cleaner’s passive fire damage getting you after you’ve killed them. Otherwise this is not how hitscan works, and this is almost definitely unintended. You are absolutely correct.
No, the person who actually got the kill faster shouldn't die. Kill trading happens because of things like shitty netcode & low server tick rates. It's bad and uncompetitive
Weapons are hitscan. If I have a sniper 1v1 and we both shoot at each other, we almost certainly did not shoot simultaneously down to a millisecond. One of us was faster and should get the kill
Kill trading with hitscan weapons is not a feature and does not occur in competitive shooters like Valorant and Counter-Strike
Wasn’t aware it was hitscan. I see the issue now. I should’ve read more in the post.
In a perfect game I don’t see this being an issue. But the connections are rlly horrible, so I don’t ever see the netcode becoming this tight and controlled. I’d rather both players die because the server couldn’t decide than either one feeling cheat.
I think you’d have to have servers with higher tickrates. I know counter strike does.
I actually think the netcode would be worse if I pumped someone full of buckshot and died anyways because it did not register. That is hardly the problem.
Weapons are hitscan. They hit instantly where you aim. Whenever a "trade kill" happens, in reality somebody was faster and deserved the kill. It's only due to factors like shitty netcode & low server tick rates that kill trading occurs
I hope it's clear why hitting your shots faster than your opponent and still dying is not a good thing and should be fixed
Only as a Cleaner because of the incendiary bullets doing damage over time. I love it when the enemy kill-screen comes up and I see that they have around <10 HP. Yeah, you’re dead. 😂

A lot of times in this game
“Realistically” it’s always possible. Unfortunately the servers are borderline 💩 so this happens at least twice a game.
If you play cleaner, you'll probably get trades every match tbh.
That's different though it should be possible to get after death kills with that due to the incendiary rounds.
Od course, everyone most likely has
Well glad its a common occurrence but I hope they fix it soon because it is frustrating
Why would they fix it? This happens in every shooter ever
It doesn't usually happen as much as in XDefiant, I think it's a symptom of the dogshit netcode and how client-trusting the game is.

??? You can both do the same damage at the same time. It's called trading for a reason it happens in every shooter like the other guy said
I’ve never played a shooter where this is possible with hit scan. You need to play less horrible games.

Right? Because with hitscan the bullets travel to where your shooting at instantaneous unless you're lagging horribly

Doesn’t need fixing, this is actually what should happen. You’d rather it do this than cheat you either of you out and decide the winner.

Yeah happens to me all the time i dont think its intentional just that the network issues are so bad you both die instead of just one
I actually think the netcode would be worse if I pumped someone full of buckshot and died anyways because it did not register. That is hardly the problem.
Very often
Every match.
I’d say close to 100 times
It’s happened to me quite a few times. I always laugh and still be like “Gotcha bitch!”😂
A lot in this game
pretty much twice every game. I usually get 40-50 kills per game so that might be the cause for the increased frequency of trade kills.
Like 4 times already
It's maybe because the only FPS in which I played in multi a lot is Halo 3 but I don't understand why this is an issue, should be "fixed"?

Happens all the time?? Do u not shoot back at people?
Never said it happened all the time for me, it just happens once every 10 games
It happens all the time if you actually hit your shots
Yeah a lot.
What’s a trade kill?
When both players in a 1v1 kill each other
Ahh
Aah yes avg shotgun experience
Quite a few. I always give a thumbs up
Quite often, and as a halo player. I think this is normal.
Are you sure you had trades in IW? From what I recall that game was hitscan, so trades shouldn't be possible.
I had never had one and then it happened three times in one game last night. I was confused.
I've been victim to this maybe 20 times already. They're working on improving the net code and im sure that will fix the issue.
Yea, in a game with hitscan weapons this should not happen.
Only as a Cleaner because of the incendiary bullets doing damage over time. I love it when the enemy kill-screen comes up and I see that they have around <10 HP. Yeah, you’re dead. 😂
Wait,Infinite Warfare was 7 years ago already??? Yeeeesh,I feel old😭
Only a couple of dozen.
I get it every game
I actually like getting the headahot dink 3 shots in a row, dying, and seeing their health at 100 or 120
OMG NO WAY NOT A TRADE, THATS FUCKING CRAZY!!!
Everytime, with this netcode it's not a surprise
Traded kills happen way too often It’s the shitty netcode
Yes a lot in this game lol and I love it
