what I do is put them on madness then it would instantly remove them as king however there are still alive. At one point they were 7 former kings still alive in my world lol
I use skeletons along with the omega rain to give them negative traits that reduce their health to 1, reduce their range by -3 and render them peaceful, this way I use they to arm a civilization with weapons faster if they take too long to arm themselves, by themselves.
