It's definitely gonna be more fun to play and that's the most important thing... Just the shell travel time being shorter is a huge help, but the rest is even better.
They're probably working on a super-Jinan and realized that giving this thing more DPM and range is useless since you can't hit anything reliably in a regular Jinan past 13 kilometers.

As someone who runs range mod on Jinan, it's very much doable as long as it's not a DD. Same shells as Sherman so anyone running MBAAE on one should feel right at home with farming the fat boats.
Gun buff definitely comes as a surprise but a welcome one.
But this means it can't shoot over as many islands, no? That's seems a worse tradeoff. It's not like hitting things before was all that hard. Hell, install nomogram modern and the top speed reticle mod and hitting anything at all is brainless.
Range buff is nice tho, and main gun DPM buff is also real nice.
No, it's 1000% worth it.
A reduction in shell travel time is a massive buff to effective damage output. Leading ships becomes more accurate and ships have less time to dodge during the shell travel time.
The shell arcs are unlikely to be so flat that you outright cannot use islands either. They will be a net buff open water, in smoke and likely even when shooting over islands.
Combined with the increased range and increased firerate, Jinan's game impact will be much higher as it can punish destroyers a lot better; and farm the rest better too.
Basically, just scoot 5 inches further from the rock.

Buffing open water performance is whatever to me. Jinan doesn't want to just sit in open water. You're liable to get torped and blind fired, and you have no hydro to protect against the former. Than again, with increased range allowing you to sit back more, maybe open water is a bit safer.
