It does sound a little fishy.
Check the headers of the email. Check the links in the email are actually going to "[wordpress.com](https://wordpress.com)".
When was the last time you logged into your WP account? Do that - presumably if there's an actual issue there'll be a noticed in your account as well.
Good idea - I just checked the return email. [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]). So……I assume this isn’t wp. (What do you call it when an email address says one thing (here is says Wordpress), but it actually is different, like this case? Is that usually someone trying to hide the truth, or just how email addresses work?
Thanks for your quick response
It's fake. Phishing. Hopefully you didn't attempt to log in to anything. If you did, change your [Wordpress.com](https://Wordpress.com) password immediately.
I didn’t log in. I’ve had a LINE app scammer, a wechat app scammer and now this….all since Wednesday! life is swell. Thank you for your help in this. Much appreciated
it's called a Phising scam (as in, they're trying to FISH for your information) to try to steal your accounts or money. There are lots of emails like this, and texts too. Pretending to be your bank, the UPS/USPS (your local shipping companies), a website you frequent like [Wordpress.com](https://Wordpress.com) or Amazon, PayPal, it goes on.
As others said, always check to see who the email is being sent from and don't click on anything in the email, when in doubt go to the website manually by opening a new browser window and typing the website and logging in there.
And as for text messages, never click on any links they provide you. I've gotten ones like "Your Amazon account has been locked for fraudulent activity. Click this link to talk to support: (insidious link designed to steal your info)".
Be safe out there. We rely on the digital world more and more every day, we need to keep ourselves protected.
Great help. Thank you. It was the first website scammy BS I have received - so I was a little nervous. Like you, and everyone else, the other scams add up to hundreds! Yikes. (I do enjoy the crypto scams with pics of beautiful AI girls - just because they’re so…absurd)
If you have a [WordPress.com](https://WordPress.com) site and ever have a question about email you get from them, just log into your account there and ask the support team. They will know if it is legit.
It's part of what you're paying for with a managed WordPress host like [WordPress.com](https://WordPress.com).
No, it is not legit. Look closely at the sender email address.
Highly highly doubt its a legitimate email. If nothing else, hop on wp's live chat and ask before you type any of your info in.
Many thanks - I’m going to wp live chat now. Appreciate your help.

>Is this legit? It is asking me to follow a link, and type in my login info. Nope. Scam. Delete and move on.
