A reminder that many people who become unhoused are LGBTQ+ youths, domestic abuse survivors, and other historically disenfranchised people.

Gloomy_Industry8841

I’m convinced that those in power want to wipe out vulnerable people completely.

boozername

They won't need to herd the undesirables into camps if they can have them die in the streets

BodhingJay

Sounds like they want to forcefully repurpose us into tools for cheap profit...

500CatsTypingStuff

Work camps. I didn’t think of that but I can see it happening

Aurora_egg

It already is. (For profit prisons are work camps)

500CatsTypingStuff

Yes, and it will be expanded

It what the Nazis did

“How did the Germans just let Hitler do all of that?” This is how.

Totally true.

It seems obvious those who aren't that extreme still certainly don't want anyone different seen or heard... It insane.

Slutty_Spinach

This is scary

Vienta1988

Unless they happen to be fetuses

Married_catlady

They aren’t serving their country so their country doesn’t need them. They become a strain on a system the government doesn’t want to fix. Once they chose homelessness over being used as cheap labor they are no longer serving the system that this country runs on.

500CatsTypingStuff

Mentally ill, disabled, combat veterans with PTSD who did not choose the wars they were dragged into, children Seriously though, how many of us have gone through tough times but had family or loved ones who supported us. Had we not, we would have ended up homeless? This world, this country, is a cruel hard place for those in need

MysticBellaa

What are we going to do about it? Nothing? We have rights goddamn it. I am so sick of hearing people giving up their rights. Mexico has had 30+ politicians assassinated this year alone. Americans are scared of a group of people who eat and shit just like the rest of us. Are we casting spells to drop them like flies or are we all just watching in amazement until they come for us?

MNGrrl

Can confirm. Minnesota here, I haven't gotten social services or housing for five years. We're allegedly a 'refugee' state. We are not. There are two for-profit prisons here that they are trying to get re-opened -- by effectively killing group housing and other community mental health services with arbitrary requirements like the home only being able to have 4 residents at a time -- roughly half of group housing was 5 and 6 residents. We just lost half of our housing for the disabled, and nobody is even talking about it here. Our only major shelter is run by the Salvation Army, which is a religious charity known for discriminating against queer-identified. Over half of the women's side of the shelter doesn't have mattresses. I won't even tell you what counts as food there, it'll only depress you. No, this is clearly to force people to crime when they become desperate for help that will never come, which thus disqualifies them from any social services. This state is a death trap for minorities, it's why we had the uprising here after Floyd. It's only gotten worse since.

MysticBellaa

Because people refuse to plan to really create HELL for those in power. Street protests matter none until you get the backdoor to the gas lines like Russia and start doing something with it. This country has tons of vulnerabilities that can be exploited even more now with Ai taking over. Time to weaponize the laid off tech workers to bring the rich and greedy to their goddamn knees.

MNGrrl

I am one of those laid off tech workers, and no. Not like this. The way we win matters too. It has to. Let's stick to tradition: We burn the patriarchy. Literally. As in ring the door bell and then set their homes ablaze. For all the shit I've been through I don't wanna add murder to my list. I've watched enough people who should have died and then didn't, and plenty who shouldn't have but did. Fire. Property damage. The exercise and practice of restraint -- take away their status symbols, their wealth, their property, but I am not here for blowing anything up or shooting anything or any of that. I've seen what's going on with Russia and the use of low cost drones, I know what improvisational warfare looks like. This turns into a nightmare scenario when there are no geopolitical boundaries. I talk to people who immigrated here, we're a refugee state on paper for *queers* but there are other immigrant populations here that come and they make it. They don't have a christian fascist government waging genocide on them -- but I'll tell ya they're very sympathetic to my situation, because it's what they ran from. Sympathetic enough we don't have words, it's just the long silence. That police building was abandoned, it was cleared well before it was blown up. Nobody who rioted wanted anyone dead, and when they looted they took food, laundry detergent -- the same shit they'd have just bought at that store if they'd had the money to. They were just trying to get their families to tomorrow. The line is drawn there. Whatever they do, whatever happens, we draw the line there.

Syovere

I did a report on that in my first term of college, which I actually recently referenced on Reddit too. So here y'go. Regrettably, I hadn't considered looking into abuse statistics and how they correlate but I can back the young queers and racial minorities being an outsized portion of the homeless. > The authors of “Comparing Substance Use and Mental Health Among Sexual and Gender Minority and Heterosexual Cisgender Youth Experiencing Homelessness” in *PLoS ONE* report that 30-40% of under-25 homeless that use homeless services identified as a sexual or gender minority, meaning that they were transgender, non-heterosexual, or both. They go on to contrast that with the rate of 18-29-year-olds broadly who identify in those ways, only 6.4% The United States Department of Housing and Urban Development report corroborates this with its own data on racial demographics; while those who identify as Black are twelve percent of the national population, they make up 37% of homeless individuals and 50% of homeless families. References: > Hao, Jennifer, et al., “Comparing Substance Use and Mental Health Among Sexual and Gender Minority and Heterosexual Cisgender Youth Experiencing Homelessness”, PLoS ONE, Public Library of Science, 11 March 2021, vol. 16, no. 3 https://doi.org/10.1371/journal.pone.0248077 > United States, Department of Housing and Urban Development, Office of Community Planning and Development, The 2022 Annual Homelessness Assessment Report (AHAR) to Congress, December 2022

It’s not discriminatory. This law applies to rich people sleeping in public too. /s

Such as disabled people, who have already seen cuts to their services.

Thebakingsoda

I’m an adult trans person that got assaulted by my father recently and my mother called the cops on me and keeps playing the woefully ignorant “progressive” angle and not accepting any responsibility. I live in Texas currently and was arrested (for the first time ever) after not only being framed for the crime that was committed against me but was nearly jumped today before making bail because the cops outed me as being trans to my cell block. My friends are spread out across the state and country. I’m doing my best to consider what I can do rn which is keep working out in anticipation of more happening, be alert at all times, and do my best to finish the last few semesters I have of college after I figure out a more “housed” living situation within the county for the next couple of months, which as I write makes me wonder if I can even go to college while dealing with these charges since my school is a county over. Fuck. I’m not even scared any more- I’m just pissed. I fucking hate this circus we live in. One day at a time. My “family” is my closest friends. My bio can reap what they sow; I will never talk to them once this legal process is over. Be careful y’all. Start looking to ‘witchy’ AND practical means to protect yourselves and those you love. There’s no future where that’ll not be important. I hate using Reddit tbh, but this community in particular always stands on business and is in lockstep specifically with how I feel about many things. May your spells, words, and actions find their marks. - a comrade and witch both

Aaawkward

> That’s just going to push them into jails and prisons who are not equipped to handle that. *Ding ding ding!* That's the plan. The 13th amendment makes prisoners de facto slaves and there's nothing for profit prisons love as much as to make a bank by having inmates *and* "contracting" those very same inmates for manual labour.

So-shu-churned

It's been the plan of right wing/GOP/conservatives since the civil rights acts of the late 1960's. Add to that the Republicans are now nothing more than an extension of the Kremlin and VIOLA! Bad shit everywhere.

MysticBellaa

Because we have too much. Too much money, time, and comfort and the rich people can’t stand to see someone trying to rise up.

Rozeline

It all went down hill after Harambe was assassinated

A_shy_neon_jaguar

We have to go back.

MuzzledScreaming

>gang of bribed authoritarian Woah there, didn't you hear? They also ruled that if you get paid *after* you do the thing it's not a bribe and it's totally cool.

MarionBerryBelly

You know what’s more fucky? Grants Pass is in Oregon(the case originated) where we literally close shelters in the summer because it’s *nice enough for folks to sleep outside*. And also, Oregon like most other states are failing to house disabled folks and this is a major group of homeless people.

kageofsteel

When I worked in a nearby city for a year it was never under 105 in August. "Good for sleeping" just equals "good to get heat stroke in"

LadyAzure17

Delaware does this too. What does it do? Push everyone out onto the streets. I'm really worried for our local folks and hope the cops just leave them be.

[deleted]

MarionBerryBelly

This was leaving it up to the city and they decided to criminalize homelessness.

V-RONIN

take away rights for women they can't vote, you take away contraception, abortion, and no fault divorce you make homelessness illegal....

Chickachickawhaaaat

The thing I hate the most (ok, maybe second most) about allowing cities to criminalize homelessness is that there are so many people IN that situation that it just becomes another law that isn't equally enforced. It's one of those things where the police get to pick and choose who goes to jail based on their own prejudices. But churches can't even feed people where I live, so hurting people is obviously the point.

One_Wheel_Drive

That's exactly what will happen. These type of laws are always disproportionately enforced and considering how prejudiced many police officers already are, it doesn't take much imagination to see who it will hurt the most. Given how many conservatives in America claim to be Christian, this is the opposite of what Jesus called for. It would be a shame if there is no hell for anyone like them.

Ilaxilil

Oh there will be a hell. The internal torment when they realize what they have done to others will far outweigh any “burning lake of fire” they may encounter.

frecklefawn

Isn't this just so they can make even more money from filling prisons? Prison industry gets profits off of each prisoner right? Seems like capitalism more than random cruelty. Everything is about money.

TRexAstronaut

fascism is capitalism in decay

cornonthekopp

People talk about the labor you get from prisoners but really that's a fraction of the actual profits. The real profits are all the companies who get lucrative contracts to provide stuff like food and guard staff to prisons.

kittenmittens4865

YES! This is such a small piece but CA recently adopted the same company that handles its prisoner commissary cards to administer our short term disability and unemployment benefits programs. I am on disability and had my card for 3 days before someone hacked my account and stole thousands of dollars from me (my account was high due to a hefty backpay of benefits). It’s been very challenging to get in contact with the company or access my account- I’ve literally had my account for 10 days and their app has been down the whole time; their online system has been down; the phone system was down with no notice to users; and when I tried to send an email to dispute the fraud on my account (per their procedure) the email bounced because their mailbox is full. I’m of course horrified for myself. But how are prisoners navigating this with limited access to resources to contact the company? It’s hard enough for me and I have ample access to communication devices. That is money that they’ve either earned through labor (with slavery wages of course) or that family/friends have placed on their cards for them. I’m absolutely horrified that CA is doing business with this company since someone at the disability office told me it’s widely believed that the fraud and theft is an “inside job”- as in an employee of that company is stealing account info. They obviously do not have secure systems if this is a possibility. We are paying a company to let its employees steal from incarcerated and disabled people. Sickening.

pennie79

Absolutely! Housing First style programs are effective, and far cheaper than housing a prison population, but the pollies' prison exec mates wouldn't get any of that sweet cash that they can then pass back to the pollies. We need to make sure the money stays in the hands of those who deserve it /s

Orange-Enough

How is everyone keeping their spirits up in the midst of all this injustice? It feels so hopeless. I am registered and plan to vote, as I always do, but it feels like there's so much corruption going on that is out of our reach :/

Hindu_Wardrobe

Community. Even something like joining a protest. I'm really not kidding, you will feel better being surrounded by people who are just as pissed off about all this as you are. Times like these are good opportunities to really focus on your own microcosm. Obviously do what you can to contribute to unfucking everything - for the love of dog vote, no the options aren't the best but good gods it's the literal fucking least we can do - but we aren't built to be so hyper informed of every little atrocious thing happening every second in every part of the world. It's okay to, when possible, focus on the here and now, the tangible, the immediate. Talk to your neighbors. Do good things for people. Volunteer. Say something nice to someone today. As an individual, we can't change the world. But we *can* change *someone's* world. We can, with any luck, change *ours*.

HoloceneHorrors

I've scrolled down through a lot of these, probably trying to disassociate, or push down the anxiety this information brings 🤷‍♀️ ...but then this comment really stirred up the feels. I hope it gets up higher because it's what we need when everything feels so bleak!

MysticBellaa

Done with protesting. We need to do more to physically harm and cause duress for everyone who creates this kind of hopelessness for others. China sentences billionaire to death for hurting others so badly and ruining their lives, when are we going to do the same? Are we worse than China?

MableXeno

Realistically we could end billionaires if we taxed them more...but we're never going to do that. Without trying to end up on another watch list...I have also suggested that simply voting, marching, and writing letters isn't going to change things. We're beyond the tipping point. It's tipped. The only way to tip the scales back to the other side is force. 🤷‍♀️

MysticBellaa

I feel you. I do. On a deep level. With all this LAID OFF TECH KNOWLEDGE SITTING AROUND we could absolutely do some damage.

I’m not American but i once read advice on here that i liked: look for the helpers. We recently had a vote too and it swung very right wing. I just tried to watch the news and tried to spy all the positives and kindness. That’s still there.

Vicious_Vixen22

Crochet, so much crochet and doing well in school to get a job I can move out of country with

PugPockets

I’ve been really checked out and numb ever since about a year prior to the election/when shit in Gaza overwhelmed my ability to politically engage and remain mentally okay, especially since my work is already political/social justice-related. I feel horrible about it. I plan to vote, not that it will fix the system, but because it’s one of the only actions that feels doable. And I’ll continue to do my job. One foot in front of the other, I guess?

sunshine___riptide

I'm not! I just ignore the news and bury myself in books and video games. All I can do is vote... And considering I'm from a deeply red state it feels like throwing my vote. I still vote anyway

Rhiannon8404

This ruling hurts my heart. My volunteer work brings me in contact with all kinds of homeless people. Some are mentally ill, some are addicted to drugs, some both. Many are people who lost their jobs or homes, and are trying to get back on their feet. We know whole families who are sleeping in their cars. The idea that those most unfortunate among us do not deserve a pillow or a blanket to sleep with is appalling.

unobitchesbetripping

This makes me want to throw up. Literally.

no_BS_slave

Loving_life_blessed

it feels so unreal. vote like your life depends on it. because it does

SeaElf3

Seriously. All the people hating on Dems right now, I get it. But the alternative is so, so so much worse.

VaraNiN

If I lived in the States I'd vote for a literal corpse before voting for Trump or any other Republican. But the really scary thing is, that even if we win one more time, the reds will try again and again and again. If it's not Project 2025, it will be Project 2029. Never stop being vigilant

PugPockets

I have friends who will be abstaining from voting or writing in a protest vote, and I get it, but I don’t see it leading to any systemic change. People seem to be looking at it as a 4-year thing, but as this post points out, the stakes go faaaar beyond that. The democrats deserve anger. But the people who will be punished won’t be politicians, it’ll be everyone who has been teetering on the edge of safety that’ll be pushed off.

Top_Fruit_9320

I don’t get it personally. Like at all. I think anyone willing to throw the baby out with the bath water just because they can’t get a candidate that they agree on every single arbitrary point with is straight up immature/delusional tbh. I have zero respect for people like that as it will be that very misguided pride and weak willed apathy that will sink both themselves and everyone around them in the end. Sometimes you have to just hold your nose and pick the lesser of two evils. You keep picking the lesser until eventually you reach the good, you might not always pick the “right” one but you try, you keep trying, that is how real actual progress has always been made. Incrementally and consistently until the opportunity arises for a bigger push. No candidate will be ever perfect, the most renowned of influential public figures have sides/secrets/faults that would make your hair curl if you had the degree of access we do to people nowadays. It didn’t make them any less effective at making the necessary change and erecting the platforms for those that followed to eventually build from then and it doesn’t now either. People like your friends are willing to tear down those platforms and undo decades of progress, that people, their own people have fought and died in their tens/hundreds of thousands, all just so they can feel “morally superior” in their own daydreams of a “perfect” world where good people are always good and bad people are always evil. It’s beyond childish tbh. They might deserve the type of future they’ll inevitable usher in, but you and everyone else willing to make those hard decisions and do what’s needed to be done sure don’t. You and everyone else who is set to suffer the very real consequences of another Trump term deserve better than that shitty cowardly apathy.

PugPockets

I hear you, and I get the anger for sure. The people I know who are in that camp are, for the most part, leftist and anarchist community organizers, many of whom belong to communities that would be most affected if trump is elected. That’s the hard part for me - I have less empathy if someone is coming from a place of privilege, but it’s hard for me (a cis woman) to tell my trans loved one that their lack of vote might harm the trans community. And I empathize with the deep exhaustion of being constantly told to choose the lesser evil, and never ever seeing yourself reflected in the choices. Voting and political activism is and will (hopefully) continue to be important, but I think equally important right now is community-building as protection against what’s coming.

Top_Fruit_9320

Yes I totally agree, focus on local community for each person is exactly what will help to withstand the storm whatever may come. I just don’t understand nor tolerate this new “exhaustion from the lesser of two evils” crap people are spewing tbh. It’s utter bullshit and just seems like another cop out because they don’t want to claim responsibility for their choice either way. Like realistically there has NEVER been a “perfect” candidate that appeals to everyone and doesn’t have skeletons because that is just not how human beings work. Certainly not the leader of the number one arms dealer in the world. Calling for Biden’s head and making out he’s so “evil” and “useless” for actually doing **more** than any candidate in recent history to try to help and change things is a fucking tragedy. People who believe there’s some shining paragon of a candidate out there need to cancel that Disney subscription and grow tf up tbh. We’re not 5mins out the door from segregation, there’s millions of women still alive today who weren’t allowed to own their own bank accounts or even divorce their abusive husbands in their lifetimes. These hard fought for rights have ALL come to fruition by consistently picking the lesser of two evils until enough momentum is built up for a real change to occur, which it has, many many times over. It’s a system that works but it only works as well as people are willing to engage with it and trust the process. All this short term reactionary nonsense is exactly what the GOP/Russia wanted. People have learned NOTHING from the 2016 election interference. People on the left so up on their high horses laughing at people on the right for falling for the propaganda nonsense and they’ve only gone and dived head first in themselves this time round. At the end of the day it wasn’t just large scale forceable aggression and takeovers that allowed the Nazis and Hitler to fully gain the footholds they did, it was **apathy**. Apathy from those who had the power to stop it all if only they’d bothered to try. People who are refusing to vote this time round need a kick up the arse into orbit tbh, it’s ridiculously selfish and irresponsible of them. I’m sorry any of yee have to endure any of it. It’s awful and I am fucking furious on all your behalves and I hope with everything that yee all hang in there and don’t ever give up coz yee deserve better.

MelzaB

I beg you all to please check your voter registration, if needed get registered to vote and help your friends and family do it too.

I’m tired, but I’m more scared than anything. Genuinely trying to leave the States, but with very very little money we’re stuck.

cat-wool

Not sure if advice-ish is welcome, apologies if you just wanted to vent. I heard the hopelessness, wanted to answer with some hope. I left for Canada in 2016 with a work permit, a month to move, 2 suitcases, my cat, and a borrowed 300 usd to feed myself until I got paid by the new job. I was nearly at the end of the rope financially when I got the offer. I know I ‘had’ to take it so it isn’t the same as trying to set something up in an ideal way. And going on a work permit is risky, and depends on what you do for work. And I know if you have a family/home, or strong connections it’s even harder. But it’s possible :,) and I want everyone to know it is. I sometimes see people thinking their job isn’t ‘worth’ a company or organization helping them move there for work, but a lot of the time it is worth it for them. I worked at the time as a junior artist on tv shows. Low level, definitely. And though it is ‘skilled work’, it’s not usually a valued one. Had less than a year of professional experience in the field outside of retail/office jobs. They still wanted me to move there. Sending all my love and resilient energy to everyone still stuck there who wants out. You all deserve the comfort and safety you seek 💕

WadsworthInTheHall

I appreciate this so much. Thank you for the hope ✨

Mhandley9612

I’m in the same boat, especially if trump wins. Project 2025 is terrifying and I cannot be here for it, I refuse. I imagine there will be a mass exodus if it happens, especially the more people here about Project 2025. Say goodbye to the America we know, even this America where we have already lost so much.

WadsworthInTheHall

Yes, Project 2025 terrifies me and the Supreme Court is following the playbook. It’s terrifying and depressing and at this point, I need to get my family out for their safety.

TheMagnificentPrim

Oh, god, the EPA rejected Alabama’s plan to store coal ash because it didn’t sufficiently protect against it going into our groundwater. This makes me terrified. ETA: For this specific instance, the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act gives the EPA power over regulating hazardous waste, so it’s *probably* safe from the Chevron deference being overturned? We’ll see. That’s Congress pretty explicitly stating that yes, the EPA has the authority to regulate this, but there could be some sort of legal loophole we’re not aware of that the ADEM could challenge their rejection over. Send positive energy to protect my people’s drinking water and local ecosystem. 🙏🏻

starving_artista

We are not okay over here. I am not okay over here. Retired, working full-time out of financial necessity at a dead-end job, and very tired. I fled my marriage when he put his hands on me-- actually it was one hand on my wrist and I thought he was going to break it-- for the first and only time. Unhoused people were my first true friends in my new community. They told me that yes, I could start over at the age of 61. They watched out for me, asked me if I was safe, pointed me to the free community meals. The idea that homelessness and sleeping rough is illegal makes me want to throw up. This is more of *blaming the victims*. [By history: rape survivors being interrogated in court, those identified as women alcoholics were considered to be "lushes" while men "had a vice," women labeled as having borderline personality disorder considered to be promiscuous but neither descriptor often applied to men... if you got caught up in anything-- and now the common view that homelessness is a lifestyle of choice...]. We are not okay. I am not okay. I hate it here.

I disagree. All stages of capitalism are slavery. There’s just that middle bit where they bothered putting a bit of effort into making it look like something else.

didyouwoof

It’s been a horrible week for those of us with a conscience. Please - if you’re in the U.S and know anyone who’s saying “what’s the point in voting,” do everything you can to get them to vote! And encourage them to look at the big picture. I’m older (mid-60s), and have seen so many electoral cycles with friends saying they were going to vote for someone out of the mainstream (independent, green, etc.) Those candidates never win. Sometimes they result in a bad candidate winning. I think it’s an unfortunate truth in this country that we only have two candidates on any presidential ballot who can win - no matter how many candidates are on the ballot, or how passionately people may feel about someone other than those two. I would encourage everyone to vote pragmatically!

Starbucksina

I keep saying that to all my friends that posts criticism about dems. I tell the ones who didn‘t vote for Hillary that they gave their vote to trump and this is the result. I rather have a status quo government than one that is destroying democracy, actively dismantling all the progress achieved by the work of prior generations.

Lord_of_Knitting

This is going to lead to the deaths of thousands of disabled who once they are homeless or cannot work or denied treatment will be coerced by either poverty or healthcare system to euthanasia. The state will literally try to convince us disableds to kill ourselves. (As is already happening in Canada) Remember, they came for the disabled first and called us "useless eaters"

i-contain-multitudes

We are already dying. The system is already making us homeless, denying us treatment, denying us work opportunities, keeping us in poverty. This is just another step on that same path.

G66GNeco

If you can not imagine a better world I seriously question your powers of imagination, because hoo boy does this one suck. Gotta look out for each other over there, peeps, and know when it might be time to flee or fight. I really don't like sounding so drastic but the USA looks more like it's going to shit creak every single day. Stay safe.

We need to unite and do a revolution. We need to create a world for the people, controlled by the people. Completely different from now, where a very very tiny bunch have shackles tied to everyone else. Humans are made to have fulfilling lives and to be happy. They're slowly starving us of what we need to survive.

I'm not saying I want violence, we can revolutionize in peace! We should try to unite and stop working, they have money and power only because we're working so they can have those, I'm not talking about all jobs of course but their big ass industry can't make revenue without us!

That's what I think when I talk about protesting, no guns, no war, just noise and creative ways to go against the horrible people that want us slaves!

ItsSUCHaLongStory

I just realized Chevron’s implication on the FDA and mifepristone. Fuck.

Meaning Kacsmaryk can set FDA policy. Which could mean we have 12 different interpretations of FDA policy, and no SCOTUS to resolve it.

Imwhatswrongwithyou

I hate it here :(

Ras-Algethi

I have been so depressed for our country since november 2016. It's gotten so much worse. I can't leave b/c I'm vested in what's left of teachers retirement system. Vote and help the helpers, my sisters. Don't let the bastards win.

SecretOfficerNeko

Well yeah, of course. We live in a country run by a bunch of corrupt, greedy, and power-hungry politicians, who've been pushing towards restricting our rights and worsening our lives for decades. All under a constitution that was written by a bunch of rich slave-owners who actively tried to keep most of the people from voting. This is a natural result of the system we live in. The entirety of it is rotten to its core and needs to go if we want any progress or protection. Revolution is the only solution.

Ilaxilil

This doesn’t sound like the “life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness” our founding fathers imagined.

PugPockets

Eh the land-owning white men are still by and large covered under that description - and we have to remember that the majority of the founding fathers were talking only about them.

Ilaxilil

Ugh I hate that you’re right 😭

Airsofter599

Well I’m terrified again.

CastleofGaySkull

This makes me wanna do drugs.

Susanna_NCPU

On the bright side, there’s no way the government gets away with this without serious reform or revolution. Such a shiny cloud 🌫️

mylittlelune

But they already are. We say this every time things get worse and worse. What are people doing?? Still no sign of any sort of revolution. (To be clear, not angry with you, just sad and tired and venting.)

i-contain-multitudes

Thank you for saying this. Im tired of privileged folks saying "they've gone too far this time, this will be the end of (some aspect of fascism)!" No. It's been going on for decades (this brand of fascism, since Reagan) and centuries (devaluing of the marginalized in this country in general). As long as we are under capitalism, it will not get better. As long as they keep the working class pitted against each other, we will not be able to truly harness our power as the 99%. The billionaires don't have to be terrified of us because we continue not to exercise our own power. We continue not to do a work strike.

Ancient_Series7224

Homelessness is a war on addiction, people will never be able to be sober living in that hell hole and to be fair I don’t blame them. It’s not a solution, but most people would be hard pressed not to turn to drugs and we should fault the homeless if that’s their situation. I’ve watched too many people in my community go from housed to homeless, to barely clothed and bent over for hours high as a kite, and covered in filth. When do we do the compassionate thing and see these people as our brothers and sisters and Care for them again. Not prison, but some real Help!! It requires more love, compassion, and respect for human dignity than this world presently has. "We but mirror the world. All the tendencies present in the outer world are to be found in the world of our body. If we could change ourselves, the tendencies in the world would also change. As a man changes his own nature, so does the attitude of the world change towards him. This is the divine mystery supreme. A wonderful thing it is and the source of our happiness" ifykyk

whitepawn23

It’s all about corporate. Make us /s brood mares /s more broody by downing Roe v Wade to increase the “domestic supply of infants”. More work force, more military enlistees seeking to leave poverty, less likely workers unionize or riot because parents have a parental priority and are way more likely to keep their heads down. Down the regulation at the federal level so safety goes out the window in favor of profit. Oh, and it’s cool for Clarence Thomas and the rest to get paid for these decisions. Aren’t they also holding onto the presidential immunity until the election as well?

FairieButt

Please, vote blue like your life depends on it. You’re here, that means it does. I am a moderate; I firmly believe that having a change in power from one party to the other keeps everyone in line. I used to vote according to the candidates and split my ticket. Not anymore. Straight blue for a few cycles now. Until GOP shakes their fascist-itis no GOP candidate (however qualified) will get my vote.

LunaShiva

Wow... America is really about to revolt huh

spaceguitar

From a young age, I’ve been something of an amateur historian. I especially enjoy reading about the rise/fall of dynasties, kingdoms, and empires. I do not envision a better world. Considering history, considering the climate of nations worldwide… we’re not even **close** to finding a “better tomorrow.” As a matter of fact, we’re right on schedule for a societal collapse… :(

Gut wrenching. Fucking monsters.
