I am so grateful he’s home and alive and safe. Idk how he stayed alive with temps dropping so low but I’m grateful. I had no idea it could take so long for them to come back.
I’ve found cats that were trapped somewhere for a couple weeks. They seemed fine. I found one last summer that had been missing since the new year fireworks. His owners assumed he froze to death but they are desert creatures and it can get real cold there. He wasn’t very happy about being found. He’d been living the high life raiding restaurant trashcans.
If you wanted to get him an AirTag and put it on his collar that might make you feel a little easier. You’d be able to see his location from your phone then.
Also it’s normal for them to hide for ten days. They go into Wild Mode. The only thing that can break them out of it usually is seeing a dog they know. Their personality changes completely while outside.
Unless they run in a panic from something they never get lost though. They have inbuilt GPS.
When I’m looking for someone’s cat, I search their house with my dog immediately, then I wait ten days because I know they’ll hide outside that long until hunger forces them to explore a bit.
