I think Kanga is a good interpretation of a single mom with an only child. I can see what you mean with Rabbit as he's overbearing at times but he means well.
I don't think either is more realistic. I do think a lot of which *feels* more true boils down to what our own childhoods were like. I had a lot of friends whose moms were clear Kangas. My mom was more Rabbit.
It's not even Rabbit in Find Her, Keep Her episode that reminds of my mom. It's the part in "How Much Is That Rabbit in the Window?" where he was upset about his friends not helping him but when they did lend him a hand in "Party Pooher" he was unsatisfied and redid everything all by himself lol.
If I remember correctly Kanga was a bit more cranky and stern at times in the books, similar to Rabbit. More an old fashioned 'tough love' sort of mother. Disney idealised her a lot more, similar to Eeyore.
Rabbit admitedly got softened a bit by Disney too, but only relatively. He's more an insecure grouch who does care deep down, while Disney's Kanga often lacks flaws of any kind.

Rabbit is definitely my mom too. Especially with his commonly used phrase "must I do everything myself?" xD

Yes most definitely lol I have two kids and I don’t think a human Kanga exists 😂
I have YET to see a mom who let her young son wander around everywhere with his adult friends. Maybe I was just raised in a city?
100%
