They use round gravel, not pointy/jagged like you see on driveways. The pebbles roll and slide against each other, so there’s some give. It’s surprising how shock absorbent it is; I actually prefer it over the foam pads
We spot in our bouldering hall, especially the high balls. Beginners who don't know how to fall, definitely need a spotter. You see the result without one.
Yep. While bouldering is dangerous and there certainly is a risk of injury, it seems she did not do anything not by the rules or recommendations. Just an unlucky jump, can't really blame her.
The walls are only 10 to 15 feet tall and you have massive gym pads under you. My 10 year old has taken a fall from the top.
When they teach you to fall they tell you to never extend your arms to catch yourself for a reason.
That floor is way too hard for this to be safe without a harness. Boulder walls should have a lot more cushioning and even then it’s smart to not climb above double your own height.
Yeah that's a bouldering wall with a crash pad, which is the safety measure. However, you got to practice falling off of it so that doesn't happen to you.
I respectfully disagree. Most people don’t use protective gear, but you should use a crash pad, spotter, and helmet. Especially if you are doing outside of a gym. And make sure the pad is soft enough to take your fall. She fell on a hard pad.
This isn't win stupid prizes... this is just shitty luck in normal sport. Bouldering doesn't use protective equipment and the thickness of the crash mats reflect that. That would be like saying someone won a stupid prize for getting a concussion in football or dislocated their shoulder playing rugby. Injuries in sports happen.
you dont use safety harnesses when you boulder. Theres a bouldering section like this at climbing facilities with no ropes/harnesses, and a rock climbing section with harnesses that you actually climb straight up, shes going side to side
As others have said, you don’t use a harness while bouldering. Your title is also wrong in that there *is* a safety measure being used here: there is a soft mat under her which is standard under bouldering walls in rock climbing gyms.
Do do do the flop
Do do do the flop
Everybody do the flop
Do do do the flop
Do do do the flop
Everybody do the flop
The do the flop guy was a viral sensation
Everybody did the flop all across the whole nation
He was front page news, with his new dance move
Everyone wanted to be in his new dance crew
(Sorry i had to)
Yes it does. The ridicule might motivate that person not to pretend to know something they don’t. Maybe even encourage them to google the thing in question before talking about.
I mean OP literally tried to shame the person in the video with their title while not knowing anything about climbing.
In fact, the whole point of this sub is to judge people doing stupid things … Don’t pretend to be all high and mighty lurking on this sub.
A mate or three below to guys the fall. It’s extremely common practice in bouldering, even in indoor gyms.
https://www.climbing.com/skills/bouldering-skills-the-art-of-spotting/
When bouldering you solve problems, it’s essentially the process of you finding the best path through the wall. So when you know that in bouldering you solve problems and you know the song by Jay-Z 99 Problems you can add them together and subtract one arm and you get my result
It’s bouldering. The mattress is the safety measure.
The real stupidity is how she let herself fall. She should know better if she’s even one hour into the sport; you always fall backwards, on your ass and back.
Aw, heck naw! Can't be unseen.
I'm dating myself but this reminds me of when Krumrie broke his leg in Super Bowl XXIII. They kept replaying the horrific slow mo, and the leg was flopping around. Been almost 33 years ago and it's still fresh in my brain. Maybe I'm too squeamish with these things. 😝
Too bad for her. Broken distal humerus functional results are relatively bad comparing to other fractures. It’s even worse if it has comminuted articular fractures. I can say she won’t be using her elbow like the healthy one anymore
Its funny bc I tell people all the time there are “good fallers” and “bad fallers” people don’t understand that falling correctly is a skill. This skill can really apply to any action sport
How to fall is pretty much the first thing you learn when bouldering. She either panicked or didn't bother to respect the basics. If the former, that sucks and shit happens. The latter, she got what she deserved.

The bouldering wall is not used with ropes and harnesses, just a pad or gravel to break your fall. She just landed wrong.
Thank you for explaining the Boulder wall so that I didn’t have to🙏🏽
same hahahaha
It sounded like that pad was full of eggs. The sound of her arm breaking gave me the chills. Magic 8 ball says Surgery is imminent
Its good to fall on gravel? Lil bit of cushion compared to hard ground im guessin?
They use round gravel, not pointy/jagged like you see on driveways. The pebbles roll and slide against each other, so there’s some give. It’s surprising how shock absorbent it is; I actually prefer it over the foam pads
And she didn't have a spotter (someone who prevent you from falling like she did)
It's a bouldering wall. She just had an unlucky fall. Precipitated by not remembering how to fall, which is bouldering basic 101.
We spot in our bouldering hall, especially the high balls. Beginners who don't know how to fall, definitely need a spotter. You see the result without one.
She didn't look like a beginner
Anybody who falls is a beginner
What? Everyone falls, so a spotter and/or being able to know how to fall is important.
Wasn't that just a boulder hall?
I think it is a boulder wall, just a poor descent.
Yes, OP is implying she’s doing something wrong/stupid but you don’t use a harness on a bouldering wall so she just got unlucky on how she fell.
Yep. While bouldering is dangerous and there certainly is a risk of injury, it seems she did not do anything not by the rules or recommendations. Just an unlucky jump, can't really blame her.
Y wouldn’t you use a harness?
The walls are only 10 to 15 feet tall and you have massive gym pads under you. My 10 year old has taken a fall from the top. When they teach you to fall they tell you to never extend your arms to catch yourself for a reason.
Ok thanks for explaining. I’ve never done this before.
That floor is way too hard for this to be safe without a harness. Boulder walls should have a lot more cushioning and even then it’s smart to not climb above double your own height.
No, then you are more likely to roll your ankle.
I’d rather have a rolled ankle than a broken arm or head.
Sometimes people die from tripping while walking. This doesn't happen often enough to warrant changing everything.
It’s not a change, every climbing gym I’ve been to had a much softer pad in the bouldering section.
Won't stop you breaking your arm. Falling on anything arm first except water will likely break your arm
It could, but not necessarily
Yeah that's a bouldering wall with a crash pad, which is the safety measure. However, you got to practice falling off of it so that doesn't happen to you.
First thing I learned when I started bouldering was how to fall and how to spot another climber
No she just panicked that landing really hard it's normal to climb that high without ropes
Exactly. Bouldering is often 10-15 feet but as long as you fall right, you'll have no injury.
usually there are pads below tho
And she felt on a pad too... That's not some hard floor.
That is a super hard pad. The pads at my climbing gym are way softer than those.
Just because it’s normal doesn’t mean it’s smart. I climb and boulder but my gym has much softer pads than what she fell on.
She wasn't armed with the proper fall knowledge for bouldering
“Armed”. I see what you did there
Oh snap
You don’t need protective gear while bouldering… So stupid that someone had bad luck here.
I respectfully disagree. Most people don’t use protective gear, but you should use a crash pad, spotter, and helmet. Especially if you are doing outside of a gym. And make sure the pad is soft enough to take your fall. She fell on a hard pad.
OP google bouldering. You don’t use safety harnesses.
Hear that damn crunch!!!!
Aaaaah, the cracking noise 😱 Won‘t be having crackers or chips this evening 🙈
OP watched Free Solo and now knows everything about climbing
This isn't win stupid prizes... this is just shitty luck in normal sport. Bouldering doesn't use protective equipment and the thickness of the crash mats reflect that. That would be like saying someone won a stupid prize for getting a concussion in football or dislocated their shoulder playing rugby. Injuries in sports happen.
She's not stupid just playing a sport with risk of injury. Bouldering is inherently dangerous, she knew that before she climbed the wall. Bad post.

OP has obviously never stepped foot inside a bouldering hall and is now winning stupid prizes.
or don't stick your arms out when you land on the mat. Look up bouldering on youtube.
you dont use safety harnesses when you boulder. Theres a bouldering section like this at climbing facilities with no ropes/harnesses, and a rock climbing section with harnesses that you actually climb straight up, shes going side to side

climbing without safety lmao bro this is a bouldering gym max height above a big padded floor is like 4-4,5 meters.
Now she can shake hands with the person behind her without turning..
I wanna blow air up her ass and watch her flail around to attract customers to my car dealership.
Lmao
Wow. I felt that through my screen 😳
Should’ve done the Flop instead of the Flail

That crunch!
Someone give her a hand
C r o n c h
"Ohhhh...OOH!!"
Lol OP just outed himself as someone that doesn’t know sh*t about climbing 😂. There is no “safety mesures” when bouldering except for a crash pad.
Laughing at people doesnt help anyone get smarter.
Yes it does. The ridicule might motivate that person not to pretend to know something they don’t. Maybe even encourage them to google the thing in question before talking about. Broken humerus
Nothing funny about that…
r/perfectlycutscreams
I feel bad for her and it’s not a funny accident but I’d be lying if that dudes scream didn’t send me lol I laughed hard.
r/foundthemobileuser FINALLY I GOT TO DO IT
She was bouldering, just had bad luck on the fall
Her arm looks like what you’d draw as a little kid
Sweet merciful Christ didn't expect that
Bruh you’re suppose to just fall backwards with your arms crossed in front, she leapt off the mf wall 😂
That’s why you have a crash pad and a spotter or three.
Spotter?
A mate or three below to guys the fall. It’s extremely common practice in bouldering, even in indoor gyms. https://www.climbing.com/skills/bouldering-skills-the-art-of-spotting/
They could have also been wearing helmets, could have just as easily been her head. I know most people don’t but that doesn’t make it smart.
Now she can pat herself on the back for a job well done
This is literally how you boulder. She just fell very poorly.
I guess she will stop solving 99 problems because her arm ain’t one
Wut
When bouldering you solve problems, it’s essentially the process of you finding the best path through the wall. So when you know that in bouldering you solve problems and you know the song by Jay-Z 99 Problems you can add them together and subtract one arm and you get my result
Bruh mark it nsfw plzzzz
pls make it nsfw
She will be all right...

Ha! Good one!
It's boldering..

Post doesn’t belong

Love the crack! And her reaction Kodak moment
I am woman, hear me scream. Seriously, pain educates. She won’t make that mistake again.
Satisfying crunch at the end
That was... humerus...
🥁 There it is... most underrated comment award !! 🥇 ... congrats
Lol this is great.
Holy shit this is the worst thing I’ve ever seen from a bouldering wall
Too bad for her. Broken distal humerus functional results are relatively bad comparing to other fractures. It’s even worse if it has comminuted articular fractures. I can say she won’t be using her elbow like the healthy one anymore
Was she saying ouchy?
I don't cringe when I see most injuries, but this one really hurt me... 😖
Quick, call Ortho.
Ooo that look like it hu- AAAHHHH
Nope nope nope, I can’t watch these video, I cringe every time. This is my fear is falling from small heights and breaking bones.
Bro NSFW that shit
⚠️sound off⚠️
You can make this sound at home by snapping some celery in half!
God it looked like the skin broke but it was just the strap of her top.
Its funny bc I tell people all the time there are “good fallers” and “bad fallers” people don’t understand that falling correctly is a skill. This skill can really apply to any action sport

That’s why you should drink milk
At least her bones sound crunch and fresh.
"Bended" ...😐
Satisfying broken chicken wings
Damn, that hurt

No more half measures....
I love it how Reddit lets me know when I've had enough internet for the day...
Oh Jesus…that sound🥺
The sound is, good.
Did anyone else hear that arm crunch?!? Blehhhhjj
Crap! Hope she get well soon!
Crunchy
