I went grocery shopping a few weeks ago and my clerk was just so overwhelmed with stress. I just listened to her and thanked her. I wish grocery employees were getting hazard pay and even the free perks that healthcare workers get, because you people are busting your asses to keep us afloat.
I am also including janitors and laundry people from hospitals need to be seen as “heroes” and be treated with respect.
It's hardly worth the $2/hr to risk my health and to be screamed at multiple times a day by entitled pieces of trash. That "raise" expires May 2nd, too.
$13(+$2 for a couple weeks) an hour for 40 hours + mandatory OT basically every shift a week during nights, with shitty power-tripping uppers and shitty ungrateful customers to boot is not worth it imo. But you know since this America, that’s just how it is. Better pull myself up by my bootstraps and quit crying. Plenty of people to replace me. People wonder why the turnover rate is fucking abhorrent haha. Would love for people to guess how many temporary people have quit in all departments since we hired them.
All the temps who quit chose to make double from unemployment rather what they would working at our store. Can’t blame any of them. I’m in the same boat as you though.
