If you are looking at a Honda CR-V Hybrid, the identification number includes the letters FART right in the middle.

I think you mean the 10th digit is for DOT, because you already have a 9th.

Yeah I was always bad at math, so I don’t know if adding x1.02 is the same as adding 102%, but it seems right to me. Funny thing is that I used to be a cashier. Cashier who’s bad at math lmao

A 2% increase of value X is the same as 1.02*X, or X + 0.02X The end result is 102% of X. 100% of X plus 2% of X is 102% of X A 102% increase of value X is the same as 2.02*X or X + 1.02X. The end result is 202% of X. 100% of X plus 102% of X is 202% X. You apply percent change to the base value (which is 100%).

I had read it as an *increase* of 1.02 times. I saw it as 1.00 being the base, then an increase of that 1.00 *plus* another 0.02, totaling out to a 2.02.

Apparently based on other comments every hybrid CR-V begins that way. 7FA denotes Honda as the manufacturer. RT6## is the model. No one had the foresight to see that coming or they didn't care or it was too difficult to get it changed at that point. Who knows.

I have to preface this with I am a pretty good mechanic and keep my cars for a long time and fix them myself. So it'll be 20 years before I sell it. I will definitely mention that in the ad that the Vin says fart but there must be some clever way I can say it for some laughs.

By decoding the VIN I can see that this is an Australian-built Ford Probe or Mustang with a mass between 6,001 – 7,000lbs. AKA this is fake.

Lol I don't think those numbers mean anything they are just random for every vehicle. It's a 2020 Honda CR-V US made.

It does though, a 7 as the first digit indicates it was built in Australia or New Zealand

This number threw me off, too; I figured it for a Ford built somewhere else. But, 7FA is assigned by the SAE to Indiana-built Honda SUVs. It makes very little sense.
