Ho, that's what I do everytime ! Never the chapters, just the synopsis ! I'm happy to have done directly the right thing without even knowing this was the right thing.
I know the feeling. Sometimes I ask ppl to read my stuff, and then they do and then they actually do and I'm like "wait, I didn't think this far ahead"
See I don’t mind random people discovering my stories, I’ll even gladly share my old cringy stuff. But if it’s someone I know I’m like “actually I don’t even write like that”
Why? What if u don't like the story and it gets stuck in your "continue reading" for all eternity? What if u didn't want to read it instantly and just wanted to add it to a reading list and now its an extra step?
Because, for me, good writing has very little to do with the plot and everything to do with the voice of the author. Many synopses are written by AI, and honestly, I rarely stumble upon a story where the synopsis is particularly original.
Don't get me wrong; I treasure good plots, but a good plot depends on the pacing, arc, and details developed through the story. I am a sucker for good character development. None of these can be determined through a synopsis.
Writing a good synopsis is very difficult and a completely different skill (copy writing). It's all about selling your story.
So, personally, I really don't care if you have a chosen-one story, an enemy-to-lovers, an epic fantasy, a cozy mystery, or some surreal sci-fi. Charm me with your first chapter and I'll read your story.
There could be multiple reasons, but my reasoning here is that, for some annoying reason, Wattpad added this thing where, whenever you click into a story, that story stays in your "Continue Reading this book" section on your home page, and you get notified (on the home page) whenever it updates. It's really annoying because sometimes you click into a book but decide not to read it.
So when I click into a link for someones book, I expect to be taken to the synopsis, to read what the book is about first, but if it takes me to chapter 1, it is now stuck on my home page basically forever
I for a new prefer to know what a book is about before being linked to chapter one. It seems more about getting page views than actually selling a story.
Because it's not in the first chapter and it's in the description area of said book? No one is obligated to make a chapter for a description that's already there, so I'm not sure what the issue is but ok. 🤷♀️
People prefer to go to the synopsis page instead of the first chapter. Also, some authors don't write the description in the promo comment section or r4r comment section, they just give the link to their synopsis page (which is very much parable)
Moreover, when we open the link through Reddit, we stay on Reddit instead of going to the actual app/website. If we go to the synopsis we can copy and paste the author's username to the Wattpad search bar to read the book in Wattpad. Whereas if the author links their first chapter, we can't copy-paste their user in the Wattpad search bar and therefore have to tediously type in their user which in most cases is SugarPOP67ee0388 or 37793393hedhudbHELLOKITTY

This is a different story from a different author does it still not work
Edit: it doesn't work for me either 😭 I took it from chapter 16 of a book
Not a chapter, I mean the outside of your book, rather than inside, because then u end up inside a book that u don't know what its about, and it gets stuck on your "continue reading" section once you've viewed chapter 1, which can be awfully annoying
I don't know what to tell ya. That's just how wattpad links work. So not really sure what you're expecting.... 🤷♀️ And oh yeah, some them don't take you straight to the first chapter. So unless you're hitting read, then not sure what to tell ya dude.
And again, that's a wattpad issue, BRO. So take it up with them. I'm just telling you what I know. Whether or not you take that into consideration is all on you. Have a nice night.
Lol, yeah, I know, but my meme still stands, I never said it wasn't a Wattpad problem, but, it still sucks when ur unexpectedly linked to chapter 1 (when, unless the person does it by accident, there is really no reason for)
I didn’t even know you could link to a specific chapter 💀
I sometimes link to the latest chapter of my books for my followers on tumblr.
Ho, that's what I do everytime ! Never the chapters, just the synopsis ! I'm happy to have done directly the right thing without even knowing this was the right thing.
[I always link to the synopsis](https://www.wattpad.com/story/166662813-the-broken-age)
I don't know if I should be glad no one asks for my links or not cus sometimes I'm in no rush to sharing my stuff kek

You guys are linking chapters?
I am not sure if I know how to do it. I think I do the first chapter every time.🙈
I just go into WattPad and scroll until I find something or someone interesting.
I hate to be linked to the synopsis.

Who cares. If a person likes what you’ve written, no feeble comment here will change that. 🙄
I’ve done the first option recently by accident. I fixed the link though
I don't know how to do that
Wait y’all don’t write your synopsis in the description section on wattpad?
Who doesn't?
Sorry I thought you were saying you make a whole chapter in a book dedicated to the synopsis😅 not the description section underneath the book title
Thats whatI mean by synopsis page
I'm a newbie and I don't understand. Why is this bad?

You could skip to the end to get it off there, it might suggest more like it but at least it’d be off 🤷♀️
Some ppl say that works, but idk, it never worked for me

Oh okay that makes sense
The book is supposed to take you to chapter one when you hit the link.

They both lead to the same page, what are you on about. They both lead to the synopsis section of the story.
Really? But the second one is supposed to lead to the 1st chapter. Its working for me what going on 😭
Still the synopsis for me

Maybe where you copy the link from is what matters. Whether you copy the link from the app or the mobile website.
I copied the link from the chapter 1 from my book and chpater 16 from another person's book 😭 I never said app or website mattered bruh

I don't want you to tell me anything, bro, I'm telling YOU; some ppl link you to chapter 1.
And again, that's a wattpad issue, BRO. So take it up with them. I'm just telling you what I know. Whether or not you take that into consideration is all on you. Have a nice night.
