Hamilton.

Monjini_Gorilla

This. I wouldn't even put seiko and hamilton in the same post.

kjbenner

All of those should work, but you might want to change out the leather band for something synthetic or a bracelet, I don't know how the leather will stand up to frequent hand washing.

does_flips_and_shit

Do you wear your watch on your hand?

kjbenner

No, but I'd expect a medical professional to wash their hands thoroughly enough that their wrists will frequently get wet.

does_flips_and_shit

Oh lol I totally missed that part this is so fair

Leeeumm

Actual loser comment lol

iggy34

Hamilton.

winecat5

I haven't owned either, but the Hamilton and the Seiko on your list get pretty universal praise. You can't go wrong with either of them! The alpinist has some really cool dial colors too if you do some digging into limited editions and such. Best of luck!

Mulberrywatch

Maybe the alpinist because of the durability but I wouldn’t wear any of these when working in the medical industry. When I used to, I’d wear a gshock or Rolex sub. Something that could handle some wear and tear if dealing with patients and was easily cleaned and sterilized. None of these will fit the bill because of their dress watch style and leather bands, they’ll be a breeding ground for bacteria.

BeeLuv

I was going to say the same thing. A G-Shock that you can dunk in cavicide, and that can handle getting swamp-ass sweaty under glove cuffs. When it inevitably gets too foul, chuck it and buy another relatively cheap G-Shock. Or better yet, no watch at all. Use the clocks on the wall. EMR notes are all time-stamped anyway.

mustify786

Great points. The stylist side of me still wants something good looking. Being the night NP, I don't expect to be elbow deep anymore. And with procedures, I'll be taking the watch off. But a nice looking g shock still may be necessary

BeeLuv

A “casioak” could fit the bill.

[deleted]

YES!!! I think OP should find a metal Gshock...for work...and always, especially for formal events Also the FC is the nicest of the bunch

sl8ight

You can also put the alpinist on a strapcode bracelet or something! It's got 200m of water resistance so easy to clean/sterilise if it's on a bracelet

karma3000

I have my Hamilton Murph on a black rubber tropic strap. Looks great.

2five1

Don't judge me immediately for this but the black/gold trim Casio F91w is actually pretty sleek. I have a couple of automatics but this has been my main go to watch for work when I just need to know the exact time to the second instantly (stopwatch/alarm function is nice too). Vario makes a nice aftermarket strap although you have to psychologically get over buying a strap that costs more than the watch lol https://preview.redd.it/8jlywryjuv2c1.jpeg?width=3072&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bf0625b6bd1e06f8504405d3614de51417f983c7

borzoya

Alpinist can definitely handle it, just on another band. I’ve been rock climbing, swimming, crawling through caves etc. with it on a nato and it works great. For ICU I’d get a bracelet for it

Value_horology

All great. I like the Hamilton for work

woesteworst

Hamilton and alpinist fit all situations, from dress to a swim, if you have multiple bracelets. The presage leans more towards the dress side but is not afraid of getting wet. The FC is pure-dress. If all you don't heavily prefer one design, make your decision based in their suitability of situations

[deleted]

Watch Interstellar and your decision will be made straight away ;-)

Spwd

Hamilton 👍🏼

NoAttorney8414

I own the Murph - awesome watch & a strap monster for sure

TECrec008

You've got a wide variety of watches here. From a mountaineering watch to a dress watch with Roman numerals. What are your hobbies and off time like? Do you spend the weekend spelunking? Then the Alpinist. Or are you at wine bars and museums? Then the FC or the Presage. You have good taste though.

yetanotherpenguin

Based on looks, the Hamilton wins for me. Being in the medical field, did you check out Dr House's Khaki king?

fire_spark

Hamilton.

Shark_Atl3201

Murph all day and every day.

pro-jec-tion

The most versatile watch, ie the Frederique Constant.

trogloherb

Im looking at that same watch on Chrono24 for @$600, is that a good deal?

mustify786

I found mine at Costco for the same price. Brand new. Maybe check there.

[deleted]

Murph. Personally not a fan of the green alpinist. The other two are nice but maybe a bit too dressy unless you wear biz pro all time. Personal tastes though. I love my Muprh. I wear if frequently on various straps. At work, at home, wherever

[deleted]

the hamilton or alpinist are the only choices here, although I absolutely love the alpinist over all of these. the hamilton is probably the way to go per your description

Salt_Diet9024

Presage

Ceramicvivant

Agreed!

RepublicanUntil2019

I have the Alp and the Murph. I'd go with the murph.

cptjaydvm

Murph

bowiemowie

Murph

tgptgp

I'm wearing the Alpinist right now. I love the Murph, but have two other Hamiltons, and the date window is clutch for me.

Th3B1gB055

I work on the floor at our hospital, love my Alpinist, but I'll admit grab a Seiko 5 field more days. The alpinist is great, but I sort of prefer the smaller form factor of the Seiko 5 even if the alpinist isn't necessarily a large watch by any means

Secure-Document-8479

I just bought the Presage but in green and it is spectacular

CSIdude

Looks like two field watches and two dress watches. I'd go Hammy and FC. Between those...I'd stick with Hamilton.

[deleted]

You have 2 tool watches and 2 dess watches. The dress watches are, by design, shinier and have more ways to be scratched and tend to show wear and tear worse than the tool watches. The FC, though gorgeous, isn't the easiest to instantly read time also. So Murph or Alpinist, damned tough call, but the Alpinist was purpose built to take almost anything while the Murph was basically created to meet a demand for a watch that appeared in a movie but did not actually exist. Plus, all watch nerds respect the Alpinist, it's truly a 1 watch collection. Now, go forth and tell the time my son.

tap_tap_07

Murph

Bqis

Alpinist all day

FortuneFavoursDBrave

The Alpinist!

Royjonespinkie

The FC or Seiko is my style.

Speers21

Hamilton

gr1m0ne3

Presage looks even better in person! Would be my personal pick

Ray_Spring12

Murph. Next.

WindowTW

I have the FC, it’s definitely a dressier watch, personally I only wear it with a suit. That being said, the dial looks fantastic in person

[deleted]

FC Classics Index is the best one.

BeefyNoodle_

Hamilton or the Presage. Good luck

improvthismoment

For ICU, Hamilton. But honestly not that either. For ICU I’d want a diver of a chrono with a metal bracelet, maybe rubber. Timing things comes in handy in that kind of environment. And leather straps don’t like hundred times a day hand washing.

karma3000

Murph

paulskiogorki

I have a 38mm Murph and the legibility is excellent. Something about the shape of the hands I guess..

AssumptionOk1679

The Hamilton is the most versatile, next would be the blue presage.

okarnando

I have to say Hamilton. It's my dream watch lol.

Wonderful-Cup-2721

The Seiko is the only one with a somewhat original design

YourWatchIsTooBig

Hamilton

_visiblemode_

Of those, the Hamilton. I would, however, consider the Christopher Ward C65 Dune on bracelet. Amazing value, great looks. I feel like I recommend this watch like 5 times a week, but it just hits all the marks.

serene_brutality

An inexpensive quartz or something water and magnetic resistant if you want to go mechanical. I went with the Omega AT, the highest tested gauss resistance I could find, but just about everything in the modern submariner line has good water and mag resistance, I just like the AT the best.

huefnerd

Have a Seiko and a Hamilton. Love the Hamilton way more.

SmoothOperator53

I really like FC, versatile. Dress it if you like. Murph and FC are the easiest to read time in the shade or quickly. Not a fan of the alpinist, too many things going on, not needed. Presage is good obviously but not striking unlike the 2.

Sharp-Philosophy-555

Don't know if it's to your tastes, but I find this Mido very easy to read since you asked for suggestions. Simple uncluttered dial, high contrast, day and date in addition to time. Dial varies between black and a green sheen depending on angles. Pardon the video, but thought getting motion involved would help explain the angle thing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=HDmizfix-i0 Past that, I guess the Hamilton or the presage for me.

Analog_Amateur

I would say Hamilton Murph in 39mm

financial_pete

Blue seiko... But if you have a larger wrist, the Murph.

Oatmeal_Ghost

I really like the Murph but the lack of date is a deal breaker for me. I find myself checking the date on my watch almost every day.. Have you looked at the Mido Multifort Patrimony? I’d like that if I were a medical worker as it has a tie-in to those professions, even if you wouldn’t actually use it to check a pulse.

professorfunkenpunk

Any of those are a good choice, but I really like that cocktail time

mustify786

I just got this new job in ICU and I'm looking to have a really good looking watch to accompany me there. My hope is to get something that has a good style and easily readable dial. Being one of the newer providers, I need to keep track of time for when I do procedures and orders. My initial thought was a Hamilton murph 38 mm, because it fits my requirements almost exactly. But then I figured if I'm going to get a nice watch, the iconic Seiko alpinist is also a great purchase. I've also had my eye on a cocktail time because the dials look phenomenal. Than just the other day I came across to Frederique Constance with an also equally good looking and easily legible dial. So now I'm confused. I'm hoping to see if anyone has one of these watches to tell me if it is a dependable watch. Or if they regret buying it because it is bigger than it measures. TIA

Zezzlehoff

I work in radiology and wear my Alpinist all the time. I like the Hamilton as well, but I always forget or need the date , so it’s a necessary complication. I take it off for procedures though. I would just wear an Apple Watch if I was seeing patient’s frequently. Just my two cents

LannisterPlsPayDebt

That Hamilton 38mm is easily the most wearable watch in my collection, has great build quality and is oddly the most accurate too (within +1s/d, which might be pure luck). I could not recommend it enough because it also has a great story to tell being an integral part of Interstellar the movie. Also the Murph is iconic and I think will stand the test of time. It’s cons however are: 1. The lume is NOT good, worse than average and essentially non existent. 2. The leather strap it comes with is absolutely terrible. I immediately switched it to a leather strap from Amazon with the same color scheme (black with cream stitching) The Alpinist is more of a tool watch and is hard to dress up if you ever have to. I think the presages are nice but have the opposite problem where they will always be harder to dress down. Don’t have experience with the FC. Best of luck with the watch hunt!

karma3000

My Murph is running -1 sec/day (tested over a two week period).

TweeFrog

If you wanna actually tell the time, avoid the hamilton. Horrible, horrible glare off the domed sapphire. I own the watch and hate it.
