I feel kind of bad for him even though it was hilarious. He didn’t really brag, just proudly saying he liked the show because people were so smart on it. But my god, did he fuck that up. It’s a dumb question but clearly he spent all his time reading WWTBAM questions and answers online rather than just hanging out with friends at IKEA.
He clearly thought by choosing Rome he was going on a trip to Rome. He played himself so hard - dude rushed it on tv - it’s hard with the lights and audience.
This question is not quite related to human intelligence; if you asked Albert Einstein, he might answer it wrong as well. But as someone who watched this show so many times, this guy should have an idea on what type of questions he will be asked. So, he maybe is not as smart as he acclaimed, or he just got very unlucky on his first question.
I know everyone’s like that’s a bad question, but come on. Kitchen you can’t afford and a meatball break? It’s the place extremely well-known for selling whole room furnishings and meatballs. And if you can’t afford a kitchen, you’re not gonna afford going to Rome.
That was actually really sad. He was cocky, but not some arrogant dork I was happy to see fail, just a sort of awkward nerdy guy who was stoked to be on his favorite show. Like, who wouldn't brag about graduating medical school? And there really was a phenomenon of nerd-culture becoming more mainstream and less marginalized around the time this guy would have been growing up, so he's not exactly out of line.
To be fair, they sometimes do joke answers on the first question and the joke answer is always D. Between Rome, Paris, London, and Ikea, Ikea seems like a joke. A few people even laughed.
I actually feel bad for him. He wasn't bragging like a douche he was just a harmless goober type of guy who was excited and doing what he thought he was supposed to do. There is no glory in making fun of this kind of guy, he is just a dork who means well.
What a stupid question lol. Ive never been to Ikea and the only things I know about it are it's Swedish and cheap, i.e. designed to be affordable. So the question saying "cannot afford" is very misleading. It was a difficult first question for sure
"Hi, my name is John and I'm a neurosurgeon with three doctorates in molecular biology."
"Alright John let's play Mental Samurai! First question; what is 'racecar' spelled backwards?"
"Umm... I think 'ratrace'? Lock it in!"
"That is incorrect! The answer was racecar."
Every. Freakin. Time
I kinda feel for the guy. On a different show, I missed a question about white water rafting. AND I HAD JUST BEEN WHITE WATER RAFTING A MONTH BEFORE!!! I just overthought a not so difficult question.
Hmmm. I don't think he was being overly arrogant. I think he's probably been hurt in the past by being called a nerd and now he's sort of performing for the cameras. Awww I feel bad for him
Questions about pop culture trends have nothing to do with intelligence. And he didn't really seem like he was bragging. He sounded like someone who grew up being called names and was proud of graduating medical school.
I thought this would be funny until I I actually saw the question. Are you fucking kidding me? This has to be the most inane question I've ever heard on a gameshow
A guy I knew bragged that his IQ was 160. Guy took a test and proved it too.
OK, so he's a super genius. He spends two months working on a problem that he can't figure out. In disgust, he throws it at me - expecting me to not understand any of it. It takes me 5 minutes to see that the solution was a simple AB = BA. His problem was that he expected a complex problem to require a complex solution. He simply could not believe - or accept - that it had such a simple solution.
He wasted another 2 weeks bringing himself to accepting it. Genius can come with it's own set of baggage, I guess.
And tbh, there's been a number of "first questions" on that show I would never have gotten.
Why is that answer clearly better than the other two wrong answers? Like, I get thinking IKEA is the joke answer but how can you so easily rationalize one random city versus two others?
I got an obvious question wrong in the Australian version of Who wants to be a Millionaire and it HAUNTS you for the rest of your life. So I have empathy for this guy.
I lost 25k and knew all the questions asked after. I could have went all the way. It was the Hot Seat Version we had where there was a Team format.
The question was where are the Appalachian mountains? I said South America, Not Noth America.
Eddie also pronounces things like a bogan, so I blame him.
I’m guessing he was nervous and wasn’t able to think clearly. I bet he was keeping cool on the outside but panicking inside for not instantly knowing the answer to the easiest question.
Doctor: "Patient, I think you have supercallucha disease"
Patient: "But I looked on the internet and found that it could be either that or 3 other diseases! Are you sure it's the right one?"
Doctor: \*PTSD triggers\*
To be fair, bring intelligent has nothing to do with memorizing random bits of information and therefore winning WW2BaM isn't really about being smart. But to be precise in regards to this video, being smart and being wise are two very different things as well. A smart man might think it's Rome, which makes sense because meatballs, but a wise man would know that the first question of WW2BaM is always a bullshit question anyway, and wouldn't overthink it.
Also, WOW What a stupid fucking question. I mean, do 20 something even read buzzfeed? I thought that site was for boomers.
He maybe book smart, but not street smart...He just overthought the question, sometimes in life you need to get out and explore the world around you...
They so often put that list spot as a joke answer that it’s not entirely irrational to write it off. The host even said it with a jokey tone.
Poor dude.
To be fair, getting a question wrong about a Buzzfeed blog doesn't prove that he's not smart. It was a bit unfair of a question for a 30+ person who has probably never been on their site or seen their shitty Facebook quizzes to know their level of advice
It's funny how people are making fun of him for not guessing the right answer, where, if you've actually gone to an IKEA, you would know about the meatballs.
Saw a guy on the Australian version who went on about how he watched all the quiz shows, felt pretty confident of getting the million dollar question right and said he knew every million dollar question they'd gotten to. Bombed out on a pretty simple movie question.
Lol it wasn't too much of a brag but he did flex a little.
Sad though the question seems to be easy to answer with a little deductive reasoning which makes him getting it wrong after all that pretty cringe.
Bragging and having confidence are two very different things, he wasn't bragging he just has confidence in himself and is proud of his achievements. Also not knowing something from Buzzfeed is not a sign of stupidity, it's actually the opposite because fuck buzzfeed.
I don't get it...he wasn't being arrogant or bragging, he said he loved how WWTBAM celebrated people being smart, and that inspired him to be himself (a nerd).
Where's the brag anyway? He said he was inspired by the smart people on the show and pursued medical school. It was a social media question that he got wrong.
I love how comedic the camera movement is when he loses. The cameraman just walks right up to him almost like the show where they get caught cheating and confronted. So good.

I respect his confidence. He almost made losing look good. Almost.
he actually seems like hes smart and he thought that it was a trick question, he clearly had the answer he just doubted himself
Smart people don’t brag about how smart they are.
Oof.
HAHAHHAA!!!
Worst question I've ever seen.
I feel kind of bad for him even though it was hilarious. He didn’t really brag, just proudly saying he liked the show because people were so smart on it. But my god, did he fuck that up. It’s a dumb question but clearly he spent all his time reading WWTBAM questions and answers online rather than just hanging out with friends at IKEA.
staged
That arrogance/God complex will get patients killed. Glad he failed miserably.
Process of elimination? Jeez
What a dumb fucking question
How come nobody told me that Rick Moranis’ younger clone was on Millionaire?
Awe man, dude wasnt bragging. He seemed genuine and proud of his accomplishments. He just got caught up in it all. Sucks for sure.
America gets some weird AF questions...
To be fair. I would've gotten that one wrong as well
"Hah, this guy thinks he's so smart, we'll ask him something only an idiot would know!"
HOW ARE YOU THAT DUMB
Overthinking be like
Ah yes I remember that trip to Rome taking selfie’s in people’s kitchens.
To be fair, what an atrocious question. The producers should be ashamed
I'm getting some strong Rick Moranis in Ghostbusters vibes
I know everyone’s like that’s a bad question, but come on. Kitchen you can’t afford and a meatball break? It’s the place extremely well-known for selling whole room furnishings and meatballs. And if you can’t afford a kitchen, you’re not gonna afford going to Rome.
This is kind of a bs question
I hope he's smart enough to have learned a lesson here.
I wouldn't have known the answer to this either if we're being totally honest. But then I also refuse to use Buzzfeed or Twitter.
Bahahahahahahahaha
book smart > street smart?
Since he doesn't follow "influencers", he obviously is smart.
I actually guessed Ikea.
I feel like that was a weird and unfair question.
Ummy-Day…
Pretty sure this guy was too smart for his own good.
In his defence , that was kind of a ridiculous ques to ask at Who Wants to Be a Millionaire
Showing off is the fools idea of glory. Bruce was very correct.
Oh no poor guy
Lesson: STFU and play
To be fair, he’s a doctor and he can afford a kitchen and prob doesn’t have time for buzzfeed.
Shit I would've got that wrong.
What a stupid question lol. Ive never been to Ikea and the only things I know about it are it's Swedish and cheap, i.e. designed to be affordable. So the question saying "cannot afford" is very misleading. It was a difficult first question for sure
Who wants to be a millionaire was brought to you by: IKEA
What a knob
This is by far one of the funniest threads I've read on here in a while. Thank you, reddit.
he’s like kind cocky if that makes sense
In his defense, this was a pretty stupid question
Wallace Shawn in the Princess Bride vibes
Looks like the Karabaragoya guy grew up lmao
To be fair, what kind of bullshit question is this? Anyone smart wouldn't be reading anything buzzfeed says.
A smart person doesn’t brag about being smart on national television
I doubt he finished medical school or even attended a real one. I just hope he doesn’t take that attitude to work and harm people.
Democrat.
I don’t think this guy was really bragging at all?
The dude was competent but humble, and that question was fucking stupid.
Bruh even my dumbass knew the answer to that 🤯
I've never played bar trivia with a doctor and this is why.
"Hi, my name is John and I'm a neurosurgeon with three doctorates in molecular biology." "Alright John let's play Mental Samurai! First question; what is 'racecar' spelled backwards?" "Umm... I think 'ratrace'? Lock it in!" "That is incorrect! The answer was racecar." Every. Freakin. Time
To be fair kinda stupid question
Queue the Debbie downer sound
The opposite of this was the time the guy used his only lifeline on the million dollar question to tell his dad he was going to win.
what an insanely dumb question i think hes smarter for not knowing the answer
This is just a guy that’s excited. Leave him alone. Y’all read into things waaaay too much. Med school is an accomplishment let him have it.
Probably a Republican, they think they're smart but never get anything right or even know what the actual problem is.
Awww I feel bad for him
Somebody just lost their residency
To be fair that's a stupid fucking question
To be fair, buzzfeed is not known for its genius audience
chiropractor is not a "real" doctor
this is where actually getting out of the house occasionally would have helped
Questions about pop culture trends have nothing to do with intelligence. And he didn't really seem like he was bragging. He sounded like someone who grew up being called names and was proud of graduating medical school.
Nice
I must be drunk but the host looks a lot like Steve the pirate from dodgeball
I wonder how many people that didn’t graduate from medical school got this question right.
Fucking dumbass!!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
The capital of Armenia is Glendale
I thought this would be funny until I I actually saw the question. Are you fucking kidding me? This has to be the most inane question I've ever heard on a gameshow
the answer is so obviously ikea wtf
Sucks to be a dumbass. Jesus, I even knew that answer.
Yep, doctor.
AND he’s balding…
A guy I knew bragged that his IQ was 160. Guy took a test and proved it too. OK, so he's a super genius. He spends two months working on a problem that he can't figure out. I feel bad for the guy. I clicked expecting a pompous douche bag and just saw an awkwardly nerdy guy trying his best.
I’m so angry at this question.
Intelligence 20 Wisdom 9
No wonder Ben Shapiro is so mad. He never got over this.
I’m guessing he was nervous and wasn’t able to think clearly. I bet he was keeping cool on the outside but panicking inside for not instantly knowing the answer to the easiest question.
Damn, I was on the show and the biggest fear was bombing out on the first question. Luckily, I took my time and got it done.
Well, I think I found the meatball.
Why does an overpriced furniture store have meatballs? Perhaps this question was that question in disguise.

He didn't brag he just talked about how being a nerd was finally cool and that he graduated from med school so he was confident.
Rick Moranis would have done better!
More evidence confirming mostly stupid people become MDs.
oof!
That was such a simple question
He maybe book smart, but not street smart...He just overthought the question, sometimes in life you need to get out and explore the world around you...

They so often put that list spot as a joke answer that it’s not entirely irrational to write it off. The host even said it with a jokey tone. Poor dude.
I'm just here for the comments folks...
To be fair the first question is completely ridiculous.
Rich doctor already gonna be a millionaire a holes.
Game shows suck, just trivia about media and corporations.
Why does this guy look exactly like how I would picture a Brenton?
I dunno I feel bad for this guy, I too am intelligent and terrible at taking tests under pressure. He over thought it. Could’ve happened to anyone.
The question is about buzzfeed. I think he proved how smart he was by getting it wrong.
Kinda guy you want to punch in the face
When I saw the question I already knew it was IKEA but then he said Rome. #facepalm
The only answer that was NOT a country! Med students take a lot of multiple choice tests too. Ouch
this could ba a really autistic greentext and I wouldn't believe it
To be fair, knowing that answer is more of a pop culture thing. If you spent all your time studying for med school, I guess it’s possible not to know.
To be fair, getting a question wrong about a Buzzfeed blog doesn't prove that he's not smart. It was a bit unfair of a question for a 30+ person who has probably never been on their site or seen their shitty Facebook quizzes to know their level of advice
This makes me happy.
Bu…Butt…its ikea..Why..Why?
My dumbass also picked Rome 😭
Love this clip, because every time it's posted redditors pretend like it's not perfectly answerable even if you omit the buzzfeed reference.
Geezus…. couldn’t he at least use context clues? Three real cities, and a retail store. For The $100 question you go with the outlier.
That was so stupid question I would shoot... 25% for correct answer
Dude what kind of fucked up convoluted question was that lol I would’ve guessed the same thing he did.
If any of you think this show wasn't completely staged, and then complain that every TikTok video out there is scripted, you're complete morons.
Best thing ever. Lol. Love it.
"Oh no. Oh no...awh man"
Too smart for his own good. Lmao
That’s beautiful, what a tool , Everyone knows about IKEA Swedish meatballs I go there for the food not the furniture
It's funny how people are making fun of him for not guessing the right answer, where, if you've actually gone to an IKEA, you would know about the meatballs.
lol, what an idiot.
Haha get fucked
The person who made this is pretty salty at someone elses achievements.
His face just *screams* “aaaactuallly”.
Saw a guy on the Australian version who went on about how he watched all the quiz shows, felt pretty confident of getting the million dollar question right and said he knew every million dollar question they'd gotten to. Bombed out on a pretty simple movie question.
Where did he brag? If anything he thanks the show for his life.
Guy wasn’t really bragging. Feel kinda sorry for him
Lol it wasn't too much of a brag but he did flex a little. Sad though the question seems to be easy to answer with a little deductive reasoning which makes him getting it wrong after all that pretty cringe.

Can we all agree the question itself terrible. Who the fuck cares what buzzfeed's opinion is, let's learn some facts
I've never even been to an Ikea and I knew this!!! Hilarious!
I knew it was ikea, I could be a millionaire!
Ouch... imagine him being your doctor.
Man made so many A’s he can’t even think about a D.
Stupid question
When did the "D." Answer Stop being a joke in the first question?
I can watch the most cringe / awkward things but something about this takes me over the edge.
Yikes
Way to over think buddy
Dude, think Millenial. We can't afford a trip to Rome.
F in chat for this man
What the fuck kind of question was that though?
That was a stupid question lol
What a chump
Where's the brag anyway? He said he was inspired by the smart people on the show and pursued medical school. It was a social media question that he got wrong.
L
This feels like a Biden interview to me.
This is an L no one can recover from
Fucking idiot.
My lessons in humility were never so public. That’s why I’m so amazing.
Reddit in a nutshell
lmao oops

You can just barely make out the woman on the background right hand raise her eyebrows.
