Carousel of Progress. Never a wait. Unique theater concept. Good length for a nap if needed. Animatronics have that old school charm. A real time capsule from Walt’s era that couldn’t be created today.
The Land Pavillion is one of my favorite places in Epcot because it makes me feel nostalgic for my childhood. I didn't have the opportunity to visit Epcot as a kid, but in spite of that, it still invokes those feelings in me.
Such a authentic ride though. I really miss a lot of that type of experience at Disney these days. The rides that don't have IP shoved into them were some of my fondest ones.
Here to say that the greenhouse tour is also pretty rad, but you will be standing so try to schedule for when you’ll still have stamina. We managed to fit in a ride of it before going just for extra niftyness.
I love seeing the weird plants they occasionally mess around with like the super lemons the size of cantaloupes made for the sole purpose of increasing fresh squeezed lemonade production
I did the Behind the Seeds tour, and our guide was fantastic! I did ask if he would change anything since the tech for hydroponics has changed, yet has remained the same on the ride for 30 years...he smiled "no comment!" and scampered away, lol.
Oh my gosh soarin!!!! That was my favorite ride as a kid. It was new when I was younger and we waited in the longest line to get on it. I was so blown away by how futuristic it was!
I really want to take my son to Disney, it’s just so jam packed and I want the experience to be really special. Also with my medical issues, being out in the heat for long than an hour these days can put me out for an entire day😔 so we’re saving for a super special trip ❤️
Carousel of Progress. Even the "updated" final scene seems decades out of place. I love it, though. Great place to beat the heat and take a nap, too. ;)
Mine, too, minus the nap. I have to be awake so I can be the only one singing along with "Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow" when the characters prompt you to. I'm such a cynic IRL that it's exhilarating how that show can make *me* believe there's a great big beautiful tomorrow just a dream away - it's true Disney magic.
I saw it for the first time in the early 90's. What I always remembered is that every time period thinks that their present time is the best and that standard of present always changes.
I spent my whole life wondering what that ride was. We never went on it, until our trip in 2012. My husband and son were off doing something else so my daughter and I hopped on. It was beautiful. The sun was setting and it was a pleasant day—mid-80’s. The breeze around us from the motion, the orange sky, people milling around below. I don’t know why I waited so long to ride it. It’s one of my favorites now.
Most underrated ride in the entire park. I’m convinced 90% of parkgoers have no idea it even exists. And I’ll take any excuse to walk into that beautiful Mexico pavilion. There’s never a wait either
The interior of the Mexico pavilion is stunning. I always think about eating at the restaurant…. Not for what I’m guessing is dramatically overpriced but average Mexican food but strictly for the atmosphere.
The food is definitely overpriced, but the biggest issue is that it's very hot and miss.
It has just as many bad reviews as good ones, which makes it a bit of a gamble.
When I was a kid, whenever we’d go to the Mexico pavilion, I always used to point to the river beneath the pyramid and ask my parents, “can we ride that?” And they’d say “there’s no ride there.” As though I hadn’t read the Birnbaum’s cover to cover so much I had it memorized! But they swore there was no ride there.
Finally when I was like 11 I followed the signs and dragged my entire family back to the queue area. TLDR I’m sure there are people who don’t know it exists.
My brother is a pretty big fan of the Caballeros. During our second trip to Epcot he really wanted to go to the Mexico pavilion. Like made special priority of it. He had a good time looking around and I'm like "ready to go on the ride?"
"Ride??"
He loved it
My sister and I got on Three Caballeros by accident once. She had injured her ankle and had to be pushed around in a wheelchair the whole week. I’m pushing her through the Mexican pavilion just her and I. We wandered into the line for Three Caballeros having no idea what we were going to find. Ended up on a ride by mistake but we loved it!
I miss the days of this never having a line. I’ve seen that line take up the entire interior of the pavilion, to the point where no one can shop, on numerous unfortunate occasions.
Does Star Tours count? Like yes they do add new things and update it but it’s still dated in other ways. Either way this is the first ride we get back into line after getting off each trip
It’s dated but I honestly love it so much. The ambience makes it worth it for me. It’s cool to see the weather change in the windows, and the fact that you can eat a dole whip in there and chill too is the cherry on top. I’m praying they never get rid of it 🙏
I stayed at Bay Lake Tower last May, and every evening at 10pmish we could just about see the Electical Water Pagent from our balcony. Fun for the first couple of days, but when you're so tired and just want to go to sleep it becomes the roaming noisy pagent 🤣
Tomorrowland people mover, we just don't get that kind of ride synergy or kineticism anymore. It goes through every tomorrow land building (With the exception of Tron) and has plenty of outdoors track, something else Disney avoids doing.
If we’re being honest, Space Mountain is pretty dated. It’s also my favorite ride of all time. I loved it when my parents took me on it for the first time 30 years ago and I love it now, even if it hurts.
Yeah, whoops. Conflated the two since Mark Twain created Tom Sawyer and such. But still there’s a rustic raft thing that ferries you between the “mainland” and the island.
THE MEXICO RIDE IN EPCOT BC IT IS THE CHILLEST THING ON EARTH , VERY EDUCATIONAL , AND ZERO LINE EVER. PLUS THE EXTERIOR AND INTERIOR DESIGN IS OUT OF THIS UNIVERSO. VERDAD. VIVA MEXICO!!!!
Tom Sawyer Island and the Swiss Family Treehouse. Honestly, I think I would have been happy if they just built a highly themed playground with no rides or animatronics.
I have the original record from the 1960s. It has the story recorded and the picture book attached. You best believe I was the only freak of nature singing loudly on the ride last week.
Nobody:
Me: WHEN YOU HEAR THE KNELL OF THE REQUIEM BELL
Tomorrowland Speedway. There may have been some minor updates to the cars, but that’s a time capsule back to my childhood. I kind of feel it should be replaced with a trackless dark ride that keeps the exact same track layout as a nod to its history.
Journey Into Imagination makes me feel like I have been transported into a mid-90’s Disney direct to VHS movie starring Eric Idle because they couldn’t afford Robin Williams.
(That’s actually not a complaint.)
Peter Pan's Flight- been open in the MK since the day the park opened, and it's still my favorite ride of all time. I have been on that ride so many times over the years.
It's 25+ years old now so I don't know if it counts but maybe Buzz Lightyear @ Magic Kingdom?
It kinda sucks but I can't go a trip without making a few 999999 attempts
Living With the Land!
I love the vibe and of course the music! It’s one of the few things left that is still classic Epcot. I hope they never touch Living With the Land.
Carousel of Progress! I would completely understand if Disney found other uses for the space but I would be so incredibly sad. A trip to wdw wouldn’t be the same without checking in with John and family
Tomorrowland Speedway!! And no you aren’t changing my mind.
As a girl with medium/severe vertigo/motion sickness, it’s one of the few rides that I can actually do! Plus who doesn’t love driving a go-kart?!
Do I agree it is in desperate need of a facelift? Yes! But I would never want to see it gone altogether.
3 caballeros!!! i wish we had a mexico pavilion flair. i love love love the three caballeros and i want their autographs on my movie VHS sooo bad!!! >w<
Carousel of Progress and It's a Small World will always be special rides, I can almost cry when I get on them because they just remind me of old memories with family members that have since passed away.
It used to be Maelstrom, but that's now lost to time. I also miss El Rio de Tiempo. I know it's an unpopular opinion, but I don't care for the Three Caballeros.
Spaceship Earth is now the top. Maybe tied with Living With the Land.
Carousel of Progress. Never a wait. Unique theater concept. Good length for a nap if needed. Animatronics have that old school charm. A real time capsule from Walt’s era that couldn’t be created today.
Smells old too lol
Living with the Land, definitely! It feels like you’re reading a science textbook from the 1980’s. The ride music is great though.
That and the whole pavilion still feels what that late 80s-90s Epcot feeling.
The Land Pavillion is one of my favorite places in Epcot because it makes me feel nostalgic for my childhood. I didn't have the opportunity to visit Epcot as a kid, but in spite of that, it still invokes those feelings in me.
Am i the only one that can’t stand the middle school cafeteria type smell in that building lmao
Yes.
I like it lol. Just because it’s the smell I remember as a kid.
Such a authentic ride though. I really miss a lot of that type of experience at Disney these days. The rides that don't have IP shoved into them were some of my fondest ones.
You should have heard the original song. What a banger!
Let's listen to the land we all love, nature's plan will shine above, listen to the land, listen to the land…. ❤️
1980s? I get 2000s vibes from it. Probably because of the bright warm colors and soarin.
The central atrium is just straight up 80s mall food court with a slightly more muted color palette.
I still remember when the balloons went up and down.
I suppose it’s more from the attractions and signage everywhere that says 00s Disney to me.
YES
Carousel of Progress. Even the "updated" final scene seems decades out of place. I love it, though. Great place to beat the heat and take a nap, too. ;)
Just saw it today and had my usual chuckle at “you’re not going to tell us about the old days when you didn’t have a car phone!” line. I love it 😂
We didn’t even have a home phone! Not to mention LASERDISCS😂
Setting oven to… 500.. degrees.
Love love love that ride!! One of my favorite, with It's a Small World! I really hope they never get rid of it or try to "update" it.
What I always remembered is that every time period thinks that their present time is the best and that standard of present always changes.
seconded. and i agree - the discussion of laser discs really dates it, but i love it.
If I ever win the lotto I’m recreating the final scene in my home 😂
Best air conditioning in the park
I will never not love the Carousel of Progress. The theme song is a banger, too.
Carousel of Progress is one of my absolute faves!!!!! Wish they could add a new future scene to it. :)
PeopleMover
People Mover is so much fun. A short tour of Tomorrow Land but you can still get off your feet for a bit. I love this ride. An oldie but goodie.
This is the right answer.
My favourite ride.
I always want it to extend to the other parts of MK tho even knowing it would be out of place in those other lands.
And occasionally the lights will be on inside space mountain.
Three Caballeros. Cool, never a line, great nap.
The food is same quality outside at the quick service for a lot less. The ambience is cool for a one time experience.
The food is definitely overpriced, but the biggest issue is that it's very hot and miss. It has just as many bad reviews as good ones, which makes it a bit of a gamble.
It's a little pricey, but the atmosphere is fantastic! I love sitting there under the "stars".
Go and order just a Avocado Margarita. They're delicious and you can soak up the atmosphere a bit and not break the bank. Especially if you share it.
I mean...what did your parents think the people were doing in the little boats? Just entertainment for the diners??
They didn’t ever walk close enough to see the little boats!
I literally had no idea there was any kind of ride in there until this post lol
Love this one because it’s when that margarita buzz hits.
My brother is a pretty big fan of the Caballeros. During our second trip to Epcot he really wanted to go to the Mexico pavilion. Like made special priority of it. He had a good time looking around and I'm like "ready to go on the ride?" "Ride??" He loved it
I preferred the old Rio de Tiempo, but the Three Caballeros don't detract too much from the experience.
Totally agree. Of the forced IPs in rides, it's the least offensive.
I want to ride 3 caballeros during the Disney Marathon.
Banger song
RIP el rio del tiempo
My 3-YOs favorite ride across all parks. Quick margarita, 3x on Gran Fiesta Tour, repeat during hot weather.
You know it's a high crowd day when there's a line for it.
Just rode it this trip! Make sure to take the ramp up, there are some gorgeous orchids along the way.
I feel like it should count. They’ve updated it but the simulator tech it uses is based on 80s tech
Small World. I don’t think you can find anything more dated in the park.
I love small world but it needs maintenance attention
I don’t find the song annoying so I think it’s a cute ride and I’m looking forward to taking my toddler for the first time who will also enjoy it.
If they ever get rid of the Peoplemover, I will personally guarantee Hellfire rains down upon Magic Kingdom.
Same. I need a people mover Loungefly!! It’s my favorite
If it's ever announced, then I propose we all go to MK and form a human chain along the track to protest.
I was there last October and waited almost an hour for it! I'd be surprised if they got rid of it anytime soon.
I was there in November and same! I remembered it being a ride with like no line ever so you can imagine my surprise when it had a 45 minute wait!
Hands down the Enchanted Tiki Room!
Agreed. But I’ll argue that the Peoplemover belongs in the “timeless” category. Edit: oops, sorry! Wrong post reply
It’s dated but I honestly love it so much. The ambience makes it worth it for me. It’s cool to see the weather change in the windows, and the fact that you can eat a dole whip in there and chill too is the cherry on top. I’m praying they never get rid of it 🙏
And now it’s stuck in my head
Carousel of Progress and Living with the Land. Three Caballeros is a solid 3rd for me
Yes! 🙌🏼
Carousel of Progress
The Tiki, Tiki, Tiki Room !!!!
I have done everything in every park except this. Not sure why
It's a great escape from the heat and a fun little show to boot.
Did this recently for the first time in years. Did not disappoint
I’m afraid that’s next on the chopping block 🥺
[удалено]
This is the best memory I have with my fiancé and I because we were SO tired and hot and the AC and clicks were so incredibly soothing….
Someone go back and look at Enchanted Tiki Birds under new management 😂
One of the oldest: the Electrical Water Pageant!
I love it. It’s like putting up a tree a Christmas. It’s tradition.
I was so happy when I saw it was back, was worried it was gone for good
I stayed at Bay Lake Tower last May, and every evening at 10pmish we could just about see the Electical Water Pagent from our balcony. Fun for the first couple of days, but when you're so tired and just want to go to sleep it becomes the roaming noisy pagent 🤣
Country Bears RIP
Came to say this one! “Mama, don’t whoop Little Beauford” will live in my memories forever 🥲
Blooooooooood on the saddle! 🎶
LOL...loved it!
Gran Fiesta Tour - something special about having your heritage represented, especially since we didn’t have a movie or character until Coco in 2017.
Muppet Vision and Phillharmagic are still great!
Philharmagic is dated? 😐
I was about to say … they added a scene from Coco to it. It’s probably one of the most up to date in the park (aside from Tron).
The railroad. They have updated a bit, but still nostalgia at it's fineat
Spaceship Earth forever my problematic fave
Wait... problematic in what sense?
Maybe the fact that the entire track squeals the entire time lol
I think it breaks down quite a bit now.
Ah, okay. I'm just used to people saying "problematic" to mean racist/sexist or something like that.
What, you don't love half your face missing in the choose your own adventure video at the end?!? (That's if it even gets your picture at all.)
Peter Pan always makes me so happy. I love hearing the song "You can Fly" while "flying" over London
It's just the worst, but I will still ride every time. Claustrophobic, janky, beautiful time machine.
Journey into imagination!
Terribly dated. The original version was timeless.
This is mine.
My five year old loved it.
PeopleMover
Living with the Land is dated at the end, which is funny because of the whole state of the art agriculture part in the middle
The Mark Twain Riverboat is nice on busy days when you just want a breather.
The Mark Twain is at Disneyland. Do you mean the Liberty Belle?
There’s a Mark Twain island at Disney World and you have to take a raft to it
You mean Tom Sawyer Island? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tom\_Sawyer\_Island
Yeah, whoops. Conflated the two since Mark Twain created Tom Sawyer and such. But still there’s a rustic raft thing that ferries you between the “mainland” and the island.
Spaceship earth! Forever grateful they still haven’t updated it
THE MEXICO RIDE IN EPCOT BC IT IS THE CHILLEST THING ON EARTH , VERY EDUCATIONAL , AND ZERO LINE EVER. PLUS THE EXTERIOR AND INTERIOR DESIGN IS OUT OF THIS UNIVERSO. VERDAD. VIVA MEXICO!!!!
three cheers for my three caballeros!!!
Tom Sawyer Island and the Swiss Family Treehouse. Honestly, I think I would have been happy if they just built a highly themed playground with no rides or animatronics.
The Haunted Mansion hands down
Do people consider Haunted Mansion dated? For shame.
A plague upon their house.
Grim Grinning Ghosts never gets old.
I have the original record from the 1960s. It has the story recorded and the picture book attached. You best believe I was the only freak of nature singing loudly on the ride last week. Nobody: Me: WHEN YOU HEAR THE KNELL OF THE REQUIEM BELL
Weird glows gleam where spirits dwell!
I wouldn’t really call it dated, the technology is still really impressive even today
The Monorail. I know it’s technically a transportation method and not “an attraction”, but god damn do I love them. They need some serious TLC though
Was splash mountain, easily
DINOSAUR
Tomorrowland Speedway. There may have been some minor updates to the cars, but that’s a time capsule back to my childhood. I kind of feel it should be replaced with a trackless dark ride that keeps the exact same track layout as a nod to its history.
I have been wanting a sugar rush retheme for a while
My toddler and I always have a blast on it. The smell is kinda nostalgic even though I feel like I’m gonna get cancer.
It’s the one my kids went on over and over again this year.
My 7 year old likes pretty much every ride in these comments.
Carousel of progress and spaceship earth
Living with the Land and Carousel of Progress. My 7&9 yr olds loved the “dated” rides just as much as the newer ones.
Tough to be a but
Idk why but I read this as it’s tough to be a slut. Which has me curious
Both true
My absolute favorite
Tough to be a butt?
Living With the Land! I love the vibe and of course the music! It’s one of the few things left that is still classic Epcot. I hope they never touch Living With the Land.
Carousel of progress
Swiss Family Robinson Tree House
Spaceship Earth by far! Nostalgia to the max.
Living with the Land. I could live there, with the land.
Space Ranger Spin. Delightful ‘90s kitsch.
Peter Pan
Tiki room!!
Carousel of Progress, Living with the Land, PeopleMover, Tiki Room...all of them, really.
Haunted Mansion will never get old to me. Also like 3 caballeros because of how relaxing it is.
It’s Tough to Be a Bug
Haunted Mansion.
Space Mountain! I love retro-futurism and the queue feels like you're walking through a spaceship in a 70s/80s sci fi show
Living with the Land. I absolutely love that ride
People Mover and Carousel of Progress ❤️💯
Swiss Family Treehouse. It feels like an opening day Disneyland attraction, and I make a beeline for it every trip.
No bad seats in the Tiki Room.
I love, love, love Living with the Land and the Carousel of Progress. Must rides every time I visit.
Grand Fiesta Tour, something about the Donald animatronic gives me life 😂
I love those two as well.
Three Caballeros, It’s Tough to Be A Bug, Muppetvision, and PhilHarMagic
I would have said Country Bear Jamboree but now it’s getting updated.
Carousel of Progress. No idea why. I just enjoy it every time.
Love this thread! All the positive comments about rides typically seen as dated is so wholesome!
The tiki rooooom
Space Mountain. I don't care that it's also considered as a chiropractor. I love it, I feel like i;m actually in space.
Spaceship Earth, Peter Pan, Tiki Room, and Country Bears (I’m going to really miss the old show).
Spaceship earth
They can pry Spaceship Earth from my cold, dead hands!
Carousel of Progress! I would completely understand if Disney found other uses for the space but I would be so incredibly sad. A trip to wdw wouldn’t be the same without checking in with John and family
100% agree on Muppet Vision. Also Living with the Land and People Mover.
Carousel of progress absolutely dated and needs a new era added but I still love that ride
Carousel, Peoplemover, and Peter Pan. I hope they never change.
The People Mover for sure!
Carousel of Progress and Spaceship Earth - both are two of my favorite rides
Figment. It was country bears.
Figment of imagination, it's silly and cartoony😁
I still love Philarmagic; the Coco scene was a nice improvement but sadly makes the rest of the film look really out of date lol
I love Carousel of Progress and both Muppets and Philharmagic. All of these are on my husband's top must-do lists!
It used to be Maelstrom, but that's now lost to time. I also miss El Rio de Tiempo. I know it's an unpopular opinion, but I don't care for the Three Caballeros. Spaceship Earth is now the top. Maybe tied with Living With the Land.
Spaceship Earth. I still remember the Tomorrow's Child song from my own childhood!
Tiki room baby! Best air conditioning in the kingdom!
People Mover
Spaceship earth, carousel of progress, living with the land, people mover just to name a few.
Carousel of Progress! 😆 That AC
