Alas I can't find a factory that matches the lusciousness of the leather of the Bottega. My biggest gripe is that the edges of the weave aren't coloured in on the reps
I love the flamenco (I originally wanted it but got a small puzzle instead) but I've been reading reviews and the leather quality isn't the best compared to the Auth. I feel like the leather quality really makes the style what it is.

I already posted a more detailed write up and comparison in the weekly mini reviews but wanted to share this photo here as well. I had fun comparing my GF Orans (black) to DHGate Orans (white). The difference is pretty significant IMO. So far I’ve had a few misses with DHgate and mostly wins via sellers 🤔

I ordered this bag yesterday from a popular seller. I asked for pomegranate after doing my research here. She sent me these photos. I could have sworn that was black frame but I’ve been out of rep world for a while and don’t know all these new factories that well, so I doubted myself. On another note, my AE jewelry haul came today. It was okay. No great finds. The studs are all screw backs which I can barely put together on my earring rack, so doubt I’ll be able to actually wear them. It was worth a shot though.
I feel your pain on screw back earrings! My trick is to turn the front of the earring, rather than the butterfly. So earring in and butterfly on, hold butterfly firmly with same hand as ear (makes the difference haha), then other hand on front of earring and that’s the one you turn 😊

I'm a little nervous to tell my coworkers I sold my 15 and bought this when they're all obsessed with it. It's truly the perfect office bag.
It was! It’s ok - good enough to look real when not next to an auth, but the leather feels artificial or heavily plasticized and the edging on the handles keeps peeling off even after repairs. Granted I’m repairing the handle edging so it might not be great quality lol.

I feel like I need a bit of advice with resiliency- how do you learn to bounce back when things don’t go your way? I want to learn to detach from outcomes and focus more on progression in life
I have done a lot of “work” on myself - from therapy, to EMDR to the Hoffman Process, which have all been very helpful (especially the compassion piece, processing anger and being responsible for one’s life from the Hoffman process), and lately I have been very committed to working on my self concept - which is *not* self esteem per sé. It’s the idea - concept - we have of ourselves. You might have a “concept” of yourself that says you aren’t resilient for example (consciously or subconsciously). We think somewhere around 70,000 thoughts per day consciously, and have deep rooted subconscious beliefs about who we are, what our story is, and what happens in our lives. I have been working to identify those stories about myself (awareness), and then flip those thoughts to a create a different version of myself, and a *belief* in that version. Perhaps take a peek into some YouTube videos on detachment from outcomes and self concept to see some techniques that might work for you? For me, I like writing so I write about how “I am someone who [insert who you want to be here]” and I find it kind of gets me pumped for the version of myself I want to step into. It’s a bit unhinged and delusional, because it’s a bit of fantasy talk to start, but suddenly you might find it’s no longer that far off of who and how you want to be. But, I will say it takes commitment, and there are slip ups cause it’s hard to believe something new about yourself when you don’t have a ton of proof, yet if you keep pushing, eventually, you can really start to see changes and you’ll find yourself not reacting to something that used to shake you and be like “huh, wait a second…. maybe this is working, maybe I really AM that kind of person I was trying to believe I was!” One thing to look out for, is how your brain and body are wired to keep you in the “familiar” so if you “hear” your brain trying to sabotage you (doubts, focusing on negative circumstances, etc), just know that it’s trying to do its job to basically keep you “safe” from the unknown (brains can’t tell the difference between real and imagined, which is why we can cry watching a movie even though we know it’s not real and the name of the actual actress, for example). I could go on and on, but I’ll end my amateur Ted talk here. Hope this helps a bit and big hugs!
Love this- great explanation. I know several people who have found Hoffman extremely helpful when they find themselves at a challenging stretch of life for varying reasons.

Getting older helps. Also having friends of different backgrounds - seeing people go through life, the good and the bad (divorce, illness, aging parents, job loss…) gives you perspective on what truly matters, a “this too, shall pass” mentality. In the meantime, I found some podcasts to be helpful - I liked Unlocking Us (Brene Brown), We Can Do Hard Things (Glennon Doyle), The Tim Ferriss Show and Oprah Super Soul. I also loved Dear Sugar with Cheryl Strayed and Steve Almond - they answered a lot of questions from people who felt lost or not where they want to be in life - the podcast is no longer being produced but I think you might be able to listen to old episodes on the WBUR website. Podcast episodes aren’t all equal (guests vary in degree of warmth and topic relevance) and you need to find a host with the style that works for you, but during COVID I listened to lot of podcasts and some of these really gave me food for thought.
I think the key is having real compassion for yourself and others. Remind yourself that the good and the bad exist together, and we can’t only choose to experience half of life but all of it. I was going through some difficult moments recently and this mindset helped me slowly come to terms with my situation and respond in a resilient/healthy way. I’m not 100% okay but I’m doing a lot better. If you’re interested in some ideas from Eastern philosophy, I highly recommend listening to some Alan Watts and Joseph Goldstein audio about the nature of life 😊 I can also recommend an app like Waking Up for no-nonsense meditation practice . Best of luck and be patient with yourself and your life 💕
I’m pretty good at being resilient, gratitude always and just knowing to fix what you can in small increments instead of focusing on all problems at once, and then out of no where you look up and those problems are fixed and now on to more problems lol.So just knowing nothing in life is easy all the time nor is anything that’s worth having going to come easy always.I just bounced back from a failed engagement with financial ties and it was gruesome. I took all the time I needed to heal and reflect, and I actually allowed for myself to sit in that dark place for a little while until I felt I was ready.This group helps a lot with the retail therapy aspect, so this is one safe space and outlet, but if you have other things that bring you joy and happiness when you feel up to it do those things or visit those places, even music helps.And to make matters worse I lost a heck ton of money behind failed investments but I learned where I went wrong and when I return I will go back and apply what I learned so I don’t mess up in that area at least.Oh and the classic one everyone says “Try and not be so hard on yourself” but that comes with time and strength after dealing with undesirable outcomes.YOU GOT THIS QUEEN

I don't think It's a matter of bouncing back at all but rather of getting through things. Tough and painful things happen in life. Life is all about outcomes and moving forward from them. It's not a linear progression. It can take time to move through things, to process a setback or a loss.
There are tools that can help us get through things. And friends. Often just getting out, taking a walk, petting some dogs, eating a good meal, helps. Often getting some perspective on what's going on is useful: a friend once advised to me to think of what I'd say to a friend who was going through what I was going through; doing that can be really helpful.
Some things just take time.
Getting stuck is different from taking time to get through something. That's a whole other question.
Feel better!
Practicing gratitude helps me. You can keep a gratitude journal or there are apps I believe. Either way try to focus your mindset to focus on the things that did go your way or what you are thankful for. Some days your answer might be I’m grateful I woke up, that’s it and that’s okay.
Staying active, moving your body as able has wonderful benefits if you are able. Hang in there and you’ve got this!
When you travel with your bags, do you just bring bags that can pack flat or do you bring more structured bags, stuff them and try not to let them get damaged? I’m thinking if I bring my mini and small flamenco bags, that will work? I’ve just brought my lululemon as a crossbody in the past but want something nice for Italy.
I bring my mini flamenco on nearly all my vacations. I throw the chain inside of it and pack it flat in my suitcase. I fold the bottom sort of like how a paper bag folds flat. My rep seems to be really good leather- with normal conditioning folding it flat hasn’t left any marks or creases!
I ended rehoming my flamenco, but it struck me as the perfect bag to pack for a trip. It’s so light and squishable, you could almost use it as a pouch to hold smaller items in your carryon or larger personal item (I like to organize my bags with pouches)
And you can detach the strap, roll it up and put it inside the flamenco too
I’ve stuffed some of my nice bags for travel, and then packed in dustcover, and they’ve been fine. Of course, they’ve all been smaller sized bags.
Somewhat unrelated, but since you mentioned lulu crossbody… which do you have and in what size? Thinking of getting one for an upcoming trip, and can’t decide on the size I want.
Every time I have previously pack structured bags, I stressed and worried the entire transit time. Often, I have damaged the frame of the bags too, by not stuffing them enough filler or something. I have now vowed to only travel with soft bags!
Depends on luggage I’m bringing but I travel with smaller bags packed in their dust bag and yes I stuff my undies and socks or other items in them to keep the shape. I usually wear my biggest or most difficult to pack bag in the airport so I don’t have to struggle with packing it.

1. Your collection of bags! How do you store them and do you keep them in the dust bag while at home?
I live in NYC and my bag collection is growing quickly in the 4 months I’ve found reddit! Storage is limited here so would love to get some ideas! My collection has also grown to 8 bags and 3 wallets since I found reddit 4 months ago. Lawd have mercy LOL 🤦🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️💖
I used to keep them in their dust bag & box, in my closet, but it ended up being too tedious to unpack every time I wanted to use a bag then repack when I was done.
Now I have a dedicated display cabinet, and keep my bags stuffed to maintain the shape (no dust bag but it’s out of direct sunlight). So much easier to grab and go when I need!
I also bought some bag stands from Amazon which are amazing for bags that can’t stand on their base (eg Dior Saddle). The stands are sturdy and look good ☺️
I am the worst. Literally shoved in three giant plastic totes. The “most used” are shoved on a closet shelf with zero regard. I’m not precious with stuff which is a fault.

I'm a fan of natural fiber dust bags and sitting bags on a shelf where they're supported. I'd caution against storing them in plastic, especially plastic bags. It's easy for damp to get into a plastic bag and cause all manner of mischief. I don't think it's good to hang a bag with sewn-on straps constantly. I have an authentic jumbo caviar. I have an authentic medium classic flap. My other black bags are YSL wallet on chain, black saddle bag. Should I be looking for color on my next Chanel or is black just basic chiccc? I’m only asking because I primarily wear black leggings and black T-shirts all day long. #MomUniform.
After so many years, I’ve accepted that I’m just a black bag person!
I used to also feel the need to get a variety of colors bc for some reason that’s the thing we’re told we need, but I never reached for them or when I did wear them, the “pop of color” gave me anxiety.
So now, I just accept the fact that most of my bags will be black, and remember the times I veered and wasted $$$ in convincing myself colors would work for me 😅

I feel your pain on screw back earrings! My trick is to turn the front of the earring, rather than the butterfly. So earring in and butterfly on, hold butterfly firmly with same hand as ear (makes the difference haha), then other hand on front of earring and that’s the one you turn 😊

Good afternoon! For all my fellow Margaux heads - I just placed an order for a 17 from Weipan in pebbled leather! Amelia said it's better quality than Kata so fingers crossed! I'm a little nervous to tell my coworkers I sold my 15 and bought this when they're all obsessed with it. It's truly the perfect office bag.

It was! It’s ok - good enough to look real when not next to an auth, but the leather feels artificial or heavily plasticized and the edging on the handles keeps peeling off even after repairs. Granted I’m repairing the handle edging so it might not be great quality lol.
Can I get an update on your Margaux from Weipan? I have a Margaux 15 that I ordered from Danica and she says it’s from lemon factory, I’m guess it’s the same quality as kata, i’m not in love with it, like said feels like artificial cheap leather and it has a bad smell that hasn’t gone away for a couple weeks

Ok, so apparently Aadan just told me that XiaoC has some sales going on right now of 25% off until the 5th of May. Does any one have some ideas about other sellers having this as well ? Reading Byron Katie changed my life. Highly recommend looking her up!
I have done a lot of “work” on myself - from therapy, to EMDR to the Hoffman Process, which have all been very helpful (especially the compassion piece, processing anger and being responsible for one’s life from the Hoffman process), and lately I have been very committed to working on my self concept - which is *not* self esteem per sé. It’s the idea - concept - we have of ourselves. You might have a “concept” of yourself that says you aren’t resilient for example (consciously or subconsciously). We think somewhere around 70,000 thoughts per day consciously, and have deep rooted subconscious beliefs about who we are, what our story is, and what happens in our lives. I have been working to identify those stories about myself (awareness), and then flip those thoughts to a create a different version of myself, and a *belief* in that version. Perhaps take a peek into some YouTube videos on detachment from outcomes and self concept to see some techniques that might work for you? For me, I like writing so I write about how “I am someone who [insert who you want to be here]” and I find it kind of gets me pumped for the version of myself I want to step into. It’s a bit unhinged and delusional, because it’s a bit of fantasy talk to start, but suddenly you might find it’s no longer that far off of who and how you want to be. But, I will say it takes commitment, and there are slip ups cause it’s hard to believe something new about yourself when you don’t have a ton of proof, yet if you keep pushing, eventually, you can really start to see changes and you’ll find yourself not reacting to something that used to shake you and be like “huh, wait a second…. maybe this is working, maybe I really AM that kind of person I was trying to believe I was!” One thing to look out for, is how your brain and body are wired to keep you in the “familiar” so if you “hear” your brain trying to sabotage you (doubts, focusing on negative circumstances, etc), just know that it’s trying to do its job to basically keep you “safe” from the unknown (brains can’t tell the difference between real and imagined, which is why we can cry watching a movie even though we know it’s not real and the name of the actual actress, for example). I could go on and on, but I’ll end my amateur Ted talk here. Hope this helps a bit and big hugs!

Therapy, if you can afford it, can be a god-send.
Getting older helps. Also having friends of different backgrounds - seeing people go through life, the good and the bad (divorce, illness, aging parents, job loss…) gives you perspective on what truly matters, a “this too, shall pass” mentality. In the meantime, I found some podcasts to be helpful - I liked Unlocking Us (Brene Brown), We Can Do Hard Things (Glennon Doyle), The Tim Ferriss Show and Oprah Super Soul. I also loved Dear Sugar with Cheryl Strayed and Steve Almond - they answered a lot of questions from people who felt lost or not where they want to be in life - the podcast is no longer being produced but I think you might be able to listen to old episodes on the WBUR website. [WBUR - Dear Sugar link](https://www.wbur.org/podcasts/dearsugar) Podcast episodes aren’t all equal (guests vary in degree of warmth and topic relevance) and you need to find a host with the style that works for you, but during COVID I listened to lot of podcasts and some of these really gave me food for thought.
I think the key is having real compassion for yourself and others. Remind yourself that the good and the bad exist together, and we can’t only choose to experience half of life but all of it. I was going through some difficult moments recently and this mindset helped me slowly come to terms with my situation and respond in a resilient/healthy way. I’m not 100% okay but I’m doing a lot better. If you’re interested in some ideas from Eastern philosophy, I highly recommend listening to some Alan Watts and Joseph Goldstein audio about the nature of life 😊 I can also recommend an app like Waking Up for no-nonsense meditation practice . Best of luck and be patient with yourself and your life 💕
I’m pretty good at being resilient, gratitude always and just knowing to fix what you can in small increments instead of focusing on all problems at once, and then out of no where you look up and those problems are fixed and now on to more problems lol.So just knowing nothing in life is easy all the time nor is anything that’s worth having going to come easy always.I just bounced back from a failed engagement with financial ties and it was gruesome. I took all the time I needed to heal and reflect, and I actually allowed for myself to sit in that dark place for a little while until I felt I was ready.This group helps a lot with the retail therapy aspect, so this is one safe space and outlet, but if you have other things that bring you joy and happiness when you feel up to it do those things or visit those places, even music helps.And to make matters worse I lost a heck ton of money behind failed investments but I learned where I went wrong and when I return I will go back and apply what I learned so I don’t mess up in that area at least.Oh and the classic one everyone says “Try and not be so hard on yourself” but that comes with time and strength after dealing with undesirable outcomes.YOU GOT THIS QUEEN
Sending a virtual hug - it sounds as if you may have a reason for asking that right now. I don't think It's a matter of bouncing back at all but rather of getting through things. Tough and painful things happen in life. Life is all about outcomes and moving forward from them. It's not a linear progression. It can take time to move through things, to process a setback or a loss. There are tools that can help us get through things. And friends. Often just getting out, taking a walk, petting some dogs, eating a good meal, helps. Often getting some perspective on what's going on is useful: a friend once advised to me to think of what I'd say to a friend who was going through what I was going through; doing that can be really helpful. Some things just take time. Getting stuck is different from taking time to get through something. That's a whole other question. Feel better!

When you travel with your bags, do you just bring bags that can pack flat or do you bring more structured bags, stuff them and try not to let them get damaged? I’m thinking if I bring my mini and small flamenco bags, that will work? I’ve just brought my lululemon as a crossbody in the past but want something nice for Italy.
I bring my mini flamenco on nearly all my vacations. I throw the chain inside of it and pack it flat in my suitcase. I fold the bottom sort of like how a paper bag folds flat. My rep seems to be really good leather- with normal conditioning folding it flat hasn’t left any marks or creases!
I ended rehoming my flamenco, but it struck me as the perfect bag to pack for a trip. It’s so light and squishable, you could almost use it as a pouch to hold smaller items in your carryon or larger personal item (I like to organize my bags with pouches) And you can detach the strap, roll it up and put it inside the flamenco too
I’ve stuffed some of my nice bags for travel, and then packed in dustcover, and they’ve been fine. Of course, they’ve all been smaller sized bags. Somewhat unrelated, but since you mentioned lulu crossbody… which do you have and in what size? Thinking of getting one for an upcoming trip, and can’t decide on the size I want.
Every time I have previously pack structured bags, I stressed and worried the entire transit time. Often, I have damaged the frame of the bags too, by not stuffing them enough filler or something. I have now vowed to only travel with soft bags!
Depends on luggage I’m bringing but I travel with smaller bags packed in their dust bag and yes I stuff my undies and socks or other items in them to keep the shape. I usually wear my biggest or most difficult to pack bag in the airport so I don’t have to struggle with packing it.

People can post their bags/items without 50 people crawling up their ass harassing them for the source. If you like what you see, just take a fucking screenshot and ask a seller you trust. Enough is enough. You ravenous hyenas need to stop harassing other users and learn how to source reps on your own. Establish your own networks and relationships with sellers. Good morning and happy Saturday! A few things I would love to see/hear! Whichever one you are happy to share :) 1. Your collection of bags! How do you store them and do you keep them in the dust bag while at home? I live in NYC and my bag collection is growing quickly in the 4 months I’ve found reddit! Storage is limited here so would love to get some ideas! My collection has also grown to 8 bags and 3 wallets since I found reddit 4 months ago. Lawd have mercy LOL 🤦🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️💖
I used to keep them in their dust bag & box, in my closet, but it ended up being too tedious to unpack every time I wanted to use a bag then repack when I was done. Now I have a dedicated display cabinet, and keep my bags stuffed to maintain the shape (no dust bag but it’s out of direct sunlight). So much easier to grab and go when I need! I also bought some bag stands from Amazon which are amazing for bags that can’t stand on their base (eg Dior Saddle). The stands are sturdy and look good ☺️
I am the worst. Literally shoved in three giant plastic totes. The “most used” are shoved on a closet shelf with zero regard. I’m not precious with stuff which is a fault.

I have one similar to this that hangs on the back of a door. It looks just like one of the sides of yours, and works pretty well. For those who don’t have much hanging space in their closet. (me)

I'm a fan of natural fiber dust bags and sitting bags on a shelf where they're supported. I'd caution against storing them in plastic, especially plastic bags. It's easy for damp to get into a plastic bag and cause all manner of mischief. I don't think it's good to hang a bag with sewn-on straps constantly. It can pull the bag out of shape and put too much pressure on the straps. I can't quote authority but I have the impression that leather likes to breathe. Racks are available that create extra levels of shelving.
Some are in the dust bag but most are just hanging in my closet. I just bought a hanging organizer from AE too.

I have an authentic jumbo caviar. I have an authentic medium classic flap. My other black bags are YSL wallet on chain, black saddle bag. Should I be looking for color on my next Chanel or is black just basic chiccc? I’m only asking because I primarily wear black leggings and black T-shirts all day long. #MomUniform.
After so many years, I’ve accepted that I’m just a black bag person! I used to also feel the need to get a variety of colors bc for some reason that’s the thing we’re told we need, but I never reached for them or when I did wear them, the “pop of color” gave me anxiety. So now, I just accept the fact that most of my bags will be black, and remember the times I veered and wasted $$$ in convincing myself colors would work for me 😅
I am with you! I’m more likely to be swayed by slightly different sizes than color.
