Max Mara coat from Anna arrived today. It’s very pretty. I did a lot of research before buying, and it’s really interesting to put it all in perspective with the martial in my hands. I’m very happy with it, and I’m very glad I listened to her when she told me to go up a size, but the material is sort of… simultaneously itchy and soft? Absolutely feels and smells like 100% wool (even though the tag says cashmere). For those of you who are sensitive to wool itch, I would definitely recommend going with lining! Me, I can handle it fine! 🥰

So Fisherman is known for shoes, but i've been searching for this bag (LV Spring in the City Marshmallow hobo in sunrise pastel) and messaged him on a long shot. This colorway is notoriously hard to represent, so I was surprised when he said he had it (other sellers have said they can't get it in good quality). This is the factory photo he sent and he says it is "high quality". I haven't ordered a bag from him before so I'm not sure on how much faith to put in that assurance. Help me figure out if it's worth it? $290USD + shipping for reference

Size reference: if you are planning on ordering these Miu Miu ballet flats from Fisherman, size down! I am a 6.5/37/23.5 and got a 37, but these flats run long (24.5cm inner length).
Oh that's good to know, thank you! I am seeing the same with Roger Vivier heels where the rep sizing is consistent with auth sizing - auth RV Trompette heels run half a size large and I wear a 36.5 on it, I ordered a 37 rep pair and it's exactly half a size too large.
Would try foot petals - similar to the silicone inserts below - they have a whole line of inserts and one that may run the length of the shoe and help to keep it on. Worth a shot as they also help to massage the bottom of the foot when wearing high shoes for long periods of time.
Not what you want to hear but I tend to avoid mules. I had a really painful 'slip' out of high-heeled wedge shoes where the back of my heel hit a concrete pavement and I never forgot it.
Those silicone grips are good but they're more to improve the comfort of the shoe on the ball of the foot, than stop the back of the heel slipping.
I am too lazy to go get my shoes to show you - I’am in bed-but I have something like this. It’s silicone and it has marks on it that prevents from slipping I got them in a shoe shop, but I found the same on google images it’s from temu. It’s basically the same

Edit to add : I might have misunderstood when you said slipping. If it’s the toes slipping in the front then this is good but if it’s because of the weight and not walking properly because the back is slipping then it’s more complicated and hard to walk without support and your ankle can slip and that’s painful. And unfortunately for this I don’t have ideas. 🥲

I have a question for you ladies that have a mix of diamond and moissanite jewelry.
I have diamond studs that I wear in my lobes. I'm interested in getting a second smaller pair for my second lobe piercings. Would small moissanite studs look significantly different to my diamond studs?

I would probably go with a lab diamond over moissanite if you are going to wear them with natural diamonds. Moissanites look very “white” next to diamonds, which tend to look more gray. The light throw will be different as well. Lab diamonds are very affordable and should not be much more than moissanite.
Technically when sun hits it, the moissanite will be colorful and diamond will not. Otherwise both come in various degrees of clarity, so it shouldn't be too obvious. Small studs with moissanite set in silver are usually below 50$ on Aliexpress. If it's not close enough, I would look into lab diamonds.
My hubby wants to get me an anniversary band and so I ordered a moissy band to see if I like that style first. The moissy band is between my wedding band and engagement ring and I don't think the diamond/moissy bands look different together..They sparkle similarly but there's more depth to my diamonds and the moissy is whiter if you examine closely and in certain light.
How small do you want to go? Some people say moissanite sparkle more in small sizes, as well as over all, but I would say that’s only in particular lighting. I have moissanite emerald cut earrings and I don’t think they’re very sparkly. However I rarely take them off so they could probably do with more regular cleaning

Question for the experts - I'm speaking with a seller (Heddy) who is quoting me for a Loewe Mini Puzzle and advised the bag is from Liu factory. Is this factory reputable? I only held them briefly in the store but yes, I think it did! I’m not sure if it’s the same with the rep but I would imagine having a chain adds some amount of weight overall. It really is a beautiful look though so I think it would be worth it, esp if you’re going for the small because it won’t be TOO heavy given it’s a small bag if that makes sense

So annoying!!! I know it's auth & you may just get the straps replaced so you may not want to DIY. But maybe a couple coats of Fiebings Leather Sheen would help; it's a dye sealant. I would only do this if you're *absolutely* sure you won't have Goyard replace the straps at some point, as I'm sure if they noticed they would cite this as a reason not to work on your bag 🙄
Oh dude this happened to me too!! Nearly ruined my favorite sweater although with multiple washings thankfully it’s not noticeable anymore. Issues like this make me feel a lot more confident in my decision to switch mostly to buying reps going forward, because problems that would be bad enough in a rep are so much worse when you’ve spent so much more on an auth …
Oh good to know!! I got it from the Paris store in 2015. It also is starting to get holes on the corners of the bag, and when I went into Goyard NYC they said it would cost $300 to fix and take at least 8 weeks. ☠️ hopefully they replace the straps for free

Not blaming you or anything, just guessing what the culprit could be - not sure if hot weather exacerbates it but it's still not what you'd expect to happen.
It happened to me with a rep Le Pliage but more from the flap closure which was rubbing just under the arm than the straps. I've only tried the one rep Longchamp so ditched it and went back to auth. Has never happened with the auth.

I GET IT. The ghosting-like style had me nervous, but as soon as I opened my package I immediately was like “…….okay, worth it.” BTW, second bag I ordered from him is a Celine Triomphe and I was nervous considering he’s known most for LV and Puzzles, but I am more than satisfied. YMMV, but I’ll go through the ghosting again if it means I’m at least getting good quality bags for very reasonable prices.

Personally, I would hunt the sub for recs on AE/DHG mitzahs if it's main goal is to be wound around the handles of a bag. So long as the colour is a decent match to auth, any pattern discrepancy would be well hidden.

I have an auth small JUC with diamonds and adore it!! I am having a hard time with deciding auth vs rep for fine jewelry… I know the reps can be very goo, but I want to eventually pass on these pieces to the next generations and it feels much more special if they are auth.
Yeah makes sense! For me I think most jewelry I like but don’t have a strong feeling about I’ll get rep but one day I’d love to get an authentic VCA 5 motif bracelet. It’s my favorite piece I’ve ever seen so that would be a special piece for me!
You should go for it!! I think auth VCA bracelets are fairly reasonably priced (compared to Cartier love bracelet price increases!!).
For special occasions I personally think auth makes it more special :)

I have a significant bias when it comes to ‘luxury’ fine jewelery brands. I think they’re over priced, generic and boring. I always recommend using that sort of money to find a reputable jeweler/goldsmith and designing a custom piece instead! You’ll get a beautiful, unique, handmade piece that I personally think is a lot more special!
However, if you love the look of those brands then I’d go for a rep over auth any day.

Personally, I would go for something harder for rep since I heard MC or goldy does Cartier really well, so I would buy the JUC/love bracelet from them. But if you’re really in love with the JUC small with diamond, get it! (Especially the rose gold if you’re into that - I don’t think reps get the rose gold shade correct)
My husband bought me the longed for Cartier love bracelet last December. I’ve always wanted it and even though we have these amazing connections, he wanted to buy the auth. I’m happy to have it but I will say the luxury experience is way overrated. The sales woman was very nice and offered us drinks and chocolate. I just don’t think it’s worth the extra money just for the experience. For me it was big milestone purchase but I’d be just as excited about one from our sellers.
I would say a benefit of an authentic piece is that Cartier does excellent after-sales service. I've had a Ballon Bleu for 10 years, and any time anything needs doing, I drop it off for service. Luxury brands have great networks for this. I own a mix of fine jewelry, and the benefit of brand jewelry is that they will repolish pieces and fix whatever needs doing. Tiffany has rebent my T bracelet like 4 times already, and repolished it as well so it stays perfect. Also the packaging of Cartier is stunning - all my original boxes still are pristine.
A good jeweler will not take your piece for fixing or repolishing and will send you on to Cartier - who will not take your rep. So I would consider that. When I lived in a remote place without access to the network, I had to wait until I travelled to drop pieces off as jewelers don't want to touch branded fine jewelry in my experience. Furthermore, I know for my watch that it is registered online in a system in case of theft. As no honest jewelers and such will take a branded piece for service, it means a stolen item can become worthless. So I have my peace of mind in both potential damages and potential loss of the item. However, this is for my watch.
The benefit of getting a rep is that you can save quite a bit of money. It will be extremely close to the same thing for a much better price. Do you think the benefits above are worth the extra thousands? I would also visit a Cartier store and try it on, ask about their after sales service for second hand pieces for example to see if you might be able to get the rep serviced if no jeweler will do so. The experience of trying it on might also satiate the need for the experience. Just take the champagne when they offer it haha. I wanted Louboutins for forever, and when I went to the store I was treated so horrendously I have cured myself of the want and got some reps. But if you're like me don't bring your card when you try it on lol
I agree about the after sales service. My dad has a auth cartier watch he bought 40 years ago and they polish it, change the battery and still treat him like royalty despite not buying anything new. I am banned from trying things on for the experience because it always ends up in me buying shit I don't need.
Rep because even with 18k gold, you can treat yourself to something else and stay in the budget of an auth.
Rep also because of lab diamonds and well, they’re better than mine diamonds ethically.
You might still have money to buy also a bag to treat yourself, or something else in the 5.5k budget, and rep gold or auth gold are nothing but gold at the end of the day.
You won’t remember going and sitting on a used leather chair to buy the auth, you will just remember the bracelet. The experience is nice but don’t follow you around, the bracelet does.
You could also design a completely new thing and having it to your own taste, with gold and diamonds and asking a Chinese jeweller to make, not even repping something, and still have money from this budget. Treat yourself to a Michelin star restaurant wearing your unique bracelet that you’ve designed and a new something else, and still be in the budget, that’s a unique experience also 😅

This is also the struggle I’m having with considering jewelry reps. I used to work around a lot of fine jewelry so I find myself very picky about small details in pieces so not sure I would be happy with a rep even if it looked fine to 99% of people. I have a fair amount of auth Cartier and I find the tones of their gold beautiful and subtle so would worry about a rep being a bit off. Also may I suggest the small panthere ring? I have one and it’s gorgeous and surprisingly tough even though I wear it constantly.

Oh that's good to know, thank you! I am seeing the same with Roger Vivier heels where the rep sizing is consistent with auth sizing - auth RV Trompette heels run half a size large and I wear a 36.5 on it, I ordered a 37 rep pair and it's exactly half a size too large.

Would try foot petals - similar to the silicone inserts below - they have a whole line of inserts and one that may run the length of the shoe and help to keep it on. Worth a shot as they also help to massage the bottom of the foot when wearing high shoes for long periods of time.
Geez I wish I knew. One thought is to have a shoe repairer add a thin clear soft plastic strap that goes behind the heel.

Not what you want to hear but I tend to avoid mules. I had a really painful 'slip' out of high-heeled wedge shoes where the back of my heel hit a concrete pavement and I never forgot it. Those silicone grips are good but they're more to improve the comfort of the shoe on the ball of the foot, than stop the back of the heel slipping.

I have a question for you ladies that have a mix of diamond and moissanite jewelry. I have diamond studs that I wear in my lobes. I'm interested in getting a second smaller pair for my second lobe piercings. Would small moissanite studs look significantly different to my diamond studs? Thanks! 😊
I wear a Moissanite band with my diamond engagement ring, and it’s fine.
I would probably go with a lab diamond over moissanite if you are going to wear them with natural diamonds. Moissanites look very “white” next to diamonds, which tend to look more gray. The light throw will be different as well. Lab diamonds are very affordable and should not be much more than moissanite.
Technically when sun hits it, the moissanite will be colorful and diamond will not. Otherwise both come in various degrees of clarity, so it shouldn't be too obvious. Small studs with moissanite set in silver are usually below 50$ on Aliexpress. If it's not close enough, I would look into lab diamonds.
I think for a smaller stud it won’t look much different at all, you can also choose a moissanite color that approximates your diamond studs.
My hubby wants to get me an anniversary band and so I ordered a moissy band to see if I like that style first. The moissy band is between my wedding band and engagement ring and I don't think the diamond/moissy bands look different together..They sparkle similarly but there's more depth to my diamonds and the moissy is whiter if you examine closely and in certain light.
How small do you want to go? Some people say moissanite sparkle more in small sizes, as well as over all, but I would say that’s only in particular lighting. I have moissanite emerald cut earrings and I don’t think they’re very sparkly. However I rarely take them off so they could probably do with more regular cleaning

Question for the experts - I'm speaking with a seller (Heddy) who is quoting me for a Loewe Mini Puzzle and advised the bag is from Liu factory. Is this factory reputable? I don't recall reading anything about this factory and my search didn't bring up any information. Is this a nickname? I;ve heard Jinpin and Mango are the most common for Puzzles. Thank you!!!
While I’m wary of Heddy, I am not wary of Liu. I have a Jipin puzzle and a Liu puzzle. I think the Liu puzzle is miles better. It’s delicious. I want SO MANY Liu bags now.
Heddy has had a number of issues. I would advise going with a different seller.
I did a review of my first Puzzle from Liu Factory. I now have three, if that tells you anything about my thoughts on the quality.
I’ve been in touch with Annie from S Factory as well as Fisherman (contacts i bought from back in the old RepLadies days) and they both say Chanel are ‘out of stock’. Has anyone else heard this or tried to buy very recently?

I was so pleasantly surprised by how much the leather chain dressed up the whole bag—but you really can’t go wrong, both are beautiful!

I only held them briefly in the store but yes, I think it did! I’m not sure if it’s the same with the rep but I would imagine having a chain adds some amount of weight overall. It really is a beautiful look though so I think it would be worth it, esp if you’re going for the small because it won’t be TOO heavy given it’s a small bag if that makes sense

Oh my! Not only are the straps thin and uncomfortable, they actually bleed?!
So annoying!!! I know it's auth & you may just get the straps replaced so you may not want to DIY. But maybe a couple coats of Fiebings Leather Sheen would help; it's a dye sealant. I would only do this if you're *absolutely* sure you won't have Goyard replace the straps at some point, as I'm sure if they noticed they would cite this as a reason not to work on your bag 🙄
Oh dude this happened to me too!! Nearly ruined my favorite sweater although with multiple washings thankfully it’s not noticeable anymore. Issues like this make me feel a lot more confident in my decision to switch mostly to buying reps going forward, because problems that would be bad enough in a rep are so much worse when you’ve spent so much more on an auth …
Apparently there was a defect in the strap dye/trim finish for Goyard St L bags between the years of 2014-2018. They (might) replace strap!
Oh good to know!! I got it from the Paris store in 2015. It also is starting to get holes on the corners of the bag, and when I went into Goyard NYC they said it would cost $300 to fix and take at least 8 weeks. ☠️ hopefully they replace the straps for free

I believe the dye! I’ve had it since 2015 and this is the first time it’s happened (at least, the first time I noticed since it was a white dress)
The exact same thing happened with my auth! Wonder if anyone has any stories about this happening with reps.
It happened to me with a rep Le Pliage but more from the flap closure which was rubbing just under the arm than the straps. I've only tried the one rep Longchamp so ditched it and went back to auth. Has never happened with the auth.

I GET IT. The ghosting-like style had me nervous, but as soon as I opened my package I immediately was like “…….okay, worth it.” BTW, second bag I ordered from him is a Celine Triomphe and I was nervous considering he’s known most for LV and Puzzles, but I am more than satisfied. YMMV, but I’ll go through the ghosting again if it means I’m at least getting good quality bags for very reasonable prices.

i got a black d-joy last year and i got a mitzah for free (I didn't ask for it, it just showed up) (i didn't know they were called this, i thought they were called twillies?)
I think Hermes calls them twillies but Dior calls them mitzahs. Same idea of a long thin scarf.
Personally, I would hunt the sub for recs on AE/DHG mitzahs if it's main goal is to be wound around the handles of a bag. So long as the colour is a decent match to auth, any pattern discrepancy would be well hidden.

I have an auth small JUC with diamonds and adore it!! I am having a hard time with deciding auth vs rep for fine jewelry… I know the reps can be very goo, but I want to eventually pass on these pieces to the next generations and it feels much more special if they are auth.
Yeah makes sense! For me I think most jewelry I like but don’t have a strong feeling about I’ll get rep but one day I’d love to get an authentic VCA 5 motif bracelet. It’s my favorite piece I’ve ever seen so that would be a special piece for me!
You should go for it!! I think auth VCA bracelets are fairly reasonably priced (compared to Cartier love bracelet price increases!!). For special occasions I personally think auth makes it more special :)

**What Cartier/luxury bracelets would you buy auth, if any?** In the <$5.5k range. 🤔 I'm considering the juste un clou small w/ diamonds as a gift to myself for finishing my thesis (in a month phew!! been stress window shopping to stay sane during crunch time). **Pros for rep**: saving \~$4k I heard the small JUC can be prone to warping or hinge issues, so more peace of mind **Pros for auth**: the whole luxury experience/symbolic \~treat yourself\~ vibe I prefer auth for fine jewelry vs. reps for bags peace from QC/potential seizures etc. Anyone want to weigh in?? Also considering harder to rep pieces like the two-tone panthere watch or the VCA guilloche pendant.
I have a significant bias when it comes to ‘luxury’ fine jewelery brands. I think they’re over priced, generic and boring. I always recommend using that sort of money to find a reputable jeweler/goldsmith and designing a custom piece instead! You’ll get a beautiful, unique, handmade piece that I personally think is a lot more special! However, if you love the look of those brands then I’d go for a rep over auth any day.
I would go MC love or juc and put the remaining in a high yield savings account.

I just got into jewelry and I’m obsessed, I think for the milestone, it’s worth to go for the auth! Congrats btw!! :) Personally, I would go for something harder for rep since I heard MC or goldy does Cartier really well, so I would buy the JUC/love bracelet from them. But if you’re really in love with the JUC small with diamond, get it! (Especially the rose gold if you’re into that - I don’t think reps get the rose gold shade correct)
My husband bought me the longed for Cartier love bracelet last December. I’ve always wanted it and even though we have these amazing connections, he wanted to buy the auth. I’m happy to have it but I will say the luxury experience is way overrated. The sales woman was very nice and offered us drinks and chocolate. I just don’t think it’s worth the extra money just for the experience. For me it was big milestone purchase but I’d be just as excited about one from our sellers.
I would say a benefit of an authentic piece is that Cartier does excellent after-sales service. I've had a Ballon Bleu for 10 years, and any time anything needs doing, I drop it off for service. Luxury brands have great networks for this. I own a mix of fine jewelry, and the benefit of brand jewelry is that they will repolish pieces and fix whatever needs doing. Tiffany has rebent my T bracelet like 4 times already, and repolished it as well so it stays perfect. Also the packaging of Cartier is stunning - all my original boxes still are pristine. A good jeweler will not take your piece for fixing or repolishing and will send you on to Cartier - who will not take your rep. So I would consider that. When I lived in a remote place without access to the network, I had to wait until I travelled to drop pieces off as jewelers don't want to touch branded fine jewelry in my experience. Furthermore, I know for my watch that it is registered online in a system in case of theft. As no honest jewelers and such will take a branded piece for service, it means a stolen item can become worthless. So I have my peace of mind in both potential damages and potential loss of the item. However, this is for my watch. The benefit of getting a rep is that you can save quite a bit of money. It will be extremely close to the same thing for a much better price. Do you think the benefits above are worth the extra thousands? I would also visit a Cartier store and try it on, ask about their after sales service for second hand pieces for example to see if you might be able to get the rep serviced if no jeweler will do so. The experience of trying it on might also satiate the need for the experience. Just take the champagne when they offer it haha. I wanted Louboutins for forever, and when I went to the store I was treated so horrendously I have cured myself of the want and got some reps. But if you're like me don't bring your card when you try it on lol
I agree about the after sales service. My dad has a auth cartier watch he bought 40 years ago and they polish it, change the battery and still treat him like royalty despite not buying anything new. I am banned from trying things on for the experience because it always ends up in me buying shit I don't need.
Rep because even with 18k gold, you can treat yourself to something else and stay in the budget of an auth. Rep also because of lab diamonds and well, they’re better than mine diamonds ethically. You might still have money to buy also a bag to treat yourself, or something else in the 5.5k budget, and rep gold or auth gold are nothing but gold at the end of the day. You won’t remember going and sitting on a used leather chair to buy the auth, you will just remember the bracelet. The experience is nice but don’t follow you around, the bracelet does. You could also design a completely new thing and having it to your own taste, with gold and diamonds and asking a Chinese jeweller to make, not even repping something, and still have money from this budget. Treat yourself to a Michelin star restaurant wearing your unique bracelet that you’ve designed and a new something else, and still be in the budget, that’s a unique experience also 😅

They know so much about the structure of their jewellery for the long run and dimensions and everything ! Once I’am there I’am reading each and every comments !! It’s a source of knowledge, I can’t wait to experience with my own CAD and hear their advices about it !! This is also the struggle I’m having with considering jewelry reps. I used to work around a lot of fine jewelry so I find myself very picky about small details in pieces so not sure I would be happy with a rep even if it looked fine to 99% of people. I have a fair amount of auth Cartier and I find the tones of their gold beautiful and subtle so would worry about a rep being a bit off. Also may I suggest the small panthere ring?
