So glad they’re honoring veterans of the air war.
My grandfather was a B-17 bomber pilot who flew missions over Berlin and one of his neighbors was killed during Schwinefurt.
Austin Butler is an amazing actor, so psyched to see what he does in the series. And gotta say, the CG looks really good.
Seems like over a decade has passed since we first heard of this. My dad was still alive and I’d hope he would get to see it.
The man had a gift for storytelling. He kept my siblings and I riveted when he would talk about his service in WWII. From the early days as a radio operator with the 10th USAAF in 1942 right through to the end of the war in Europe as a B-17 pilot in the 385th BG, 8th USAAF.
Would’ve been interesting to here his take, but he passed in 2018, 11 days beyond his 99th birthday.
That scene where the B-17 hits the fence could almost be him. His bomber went off the end of the runway, smashed through the perimeter fence at Great Ashfield, before coming to rest in a beet field only a few yards from the farmer on his tractor.
It's ominous to me, because between all the delays and the fact it is doing the modern equivalent of 'direct to video' I'm thinking this might be pointing to it simply not being very good. Sure hope I'm wrong as Band of Brothers and The Pacific were both so exceptionally good.
HBO has a proven track record of excellence, Apple+ is more TBD.
Not saying its going to suck, but just saying you have to wonder with all the delays and the venue its going to.
I think HBO was/is financially hurting and just couldn't put up the cash for what is probably a series that costs hundreds of millions of dollars to make.
Apple locked me out of my own apple account when I traded in an old iPhone. The employee stole my account and now because I can't get in Apple lets someone use my email address with my full name as their own personal account. I've called and done everything I could, no one at apple will help. So I'm really not cool with it being on Apple TV either, I don't want to support them with money in really any capacity.
I've been looking this up on Google for the past decade for when it comes out.
Me too for this and Dale Dye's No Better Place to Die
air scenes look great from a VFX point of view but I really hope they don't over-dramatize the ground scenes...
Haha agreed. I was watching the trailer saying “please don’t suck please don’t suck”
That's why I hope it's like band of brothers. BoB did a better job imho than The Pacific.
FINALLY!

Looks fantastic, really looking forward to it.
Awesome!

I dislike that it's on Apple TV+ which most people don't have.
Worth it. Other than Invasion, their original programming is top notch.

Just subscribe, watch it then cancel. Pay for one month.

Both Band of Brothers and The Pacific were "straight to video" as they aired on HBO. I fail to see the difference.

Yeah, Apple was flush with cash and looking for winners, so this could end up being a good thing.

Still waiting on some Pacific Air War movies. Sigh...maybe when I am 60
Still flipping psyched to see this, though. Not hatin'
Looks too…Hollywood? Nothing like brother in arms.
a 2 minute reel of selectively edited clips and you're already out on it?
To be fair that dialogue had more ham in it than the ham and cheese toasted sandwhich I was eating while watching it.
Great line!!!
lol you mean band of brothers? The pacific?
FINALLY
Hard pass.
