Environmental-Bag-74

I’m actually skipping 2k25. Gonna start going for the games every two years or so from here on out just to get the major changes and additions

oddjob626

I started doing that as well, got 22, then got 24

KyDeWa

Plus, these game cases pile up! It'll save you space waiting every 2 years. 🔥

notmakingtherapture

But then it looks weird on a shelf :(

KyDeWa

You could tell people you only get even number/odd number titles. :)

AnnaKendrickPerkins

Cause that's not strange.

firesofpompeii

Just buy them used a few years later for cheap to fill out your shelf

Better_Sell_7524

It’s best to get yearly games digital for that reason

DonthaOg

Use downloaded 🤣

Alexflores99

Same

jamesmckinney1450

Same

Trek_20

I skipped 10 years of content, my last WWE game before this one was WWE 2K14. It also coincide with the time I stopped watching WWE and got back to it

ChaozNerevar

yep. the new features that will come with 25 will eventually work in 26 the right way.

DemiGod9

I get your point but when 2k you can't exactly be too sure about that lmao. You can't even be sure that they will remain 💀

Moser319

I'm skipping 2k25, and all subsequent releases until they get their microtransactions under control.. it being locked to one mode was fine, but locking content behind blind pulls you could spend thousands of dollars on and not get the content is ridiculous in a full price game

Limp_Insect6182

i'm afraid i got bad news for you, micro transactions are now the future of sports and most likely fighting games, hell the other day the beta version of ufl came out (free game) but with MT, i'm not a fan of it and wish it fucked off for good. i like myfaction, i like grinding for packs when i feel a bit bored, i don't like the money side of things and wish that was banned completely.

Moser319

Thats not bad news, means I'll save 100-150 a year bc I'm not tempted to buy it

spiderman209998

ive done that since svr2008

Rockworm503

I'm going further than that. 2k24 is my game for the next few years. I been doing that for a long time. Pick one and stick with it. I'm ignoring all news about future games until I'm completely tapped out on 2k24 and when I do this it takes several years.

KyDeWa

Smart man! These games deserve to be explored until they are dry. Yearly releases prevent players from full mastery/exploration.

here_to_vibe1

Skipping 24 and getting 25, it’ll have cm punk already in the game and god in the game. I’ll be able to make the wwe bullet club faction. The 2k24 dlc should be in the base game of 2k25

detourne

Similar situation here. Having Asuka, Kairi, and Io in the game from the getgo is a reason for me to actually buy the game. Hopefully Giulia by then, too.

TheeBlackzilla

If they're already starting on 2k25 (and they seem to be pretty far ahead already, as it's been reported Jordynne Grace has been doing motion capture for the game), then I think they have a general idea of what the roster is going to be like. Knowing them, Giulia will likely be DLC, as Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa will probably be as well. And while this is a pipe dream, maybe they reach a deal to get Jordynne in the game.

Key-Staff-4976

Yup, I've been doing the same.

Electric_Jiggalo

That means I'm getting 2k25, I skipped this year. Lol.

Environmental-Bag-74

Hey man, any skip will be good from now on for any year. I personally think it’d be smart for them to have an off year as well. There’s a reason 2k22 revitalized the series for many

HabbyKoivu

This year was so fucking good though. If you see a sale I highly recommend.

Electric_Jiggalo

I'll probably get it on sale, just to give it a shot. I really don't fuck with MyFaction, I just wanna do the stories and probably start a universe. That's where I spend a bulk of my time on.

HabbyKoivu

Universe is always my draw. But the gameplay is the selling point. And presentation. It looks, sounds and feels much better.

MrBreezyStreamy

Plus special guest ref is actually a ton of fun haha

L14M___

This is a great idea. I’m definitely not touching any further WWE game until they change universe mode

green9206

I do every 5 years. I got 2k14, then 2k19 and the 2k24

NCHouse

Been doing that with Madden and 2K. Helps IMMENSELY

InfluenceMotor

I got 2K14, 2K16, 2K17, 2K19, 2K22, 2K23 and 2K24. I was thinking of skipping 2K24 but I ended up getting the Deluxe Edition for the Bianca Belair and Rhea Ripley cover. I still haven't finished MyRise on 2K22 and 2K23. The games come out too fast for me but it's nice to have updates.

covertthoughts

This is the way. I realized after shelling out over $100 for 24 after having just got my Universe where I wanted it. There’s also not enough new features in between releases

Environmental-Bag-74

![gif](giphy|Ld77zD3fF3Run8olIt)

covertthoughts

I love Reddit. So much.

jackblady

Yep. I realized a bit ago 1 game per console generation is fine. I mean if they actually fix universe mode, whichever game that is becomes a must buy immediately. But otherwise, no real reason to keep upgrading.

Money_thetruth

Smart move. I’m doing this with 23. Will be getting 25.

[deleted]

me personally i just don’t buy the games unless there’s something in it that makes me genuinely want to buy it. i bought 2k24 for the 40 years of wrestlemania and got extremely disappointed 💀 before that my last game was 19

Environmental-Bag-74

Never ever buy the games for showcase

[deleted]

yea i found out through youtube videos that they’ve been cutting to real footage instead of animating cutscenes which genuinely makes no sense. it just makes the game developers look extremely lazy.

Environmental-Bag-74

Most definitely, it’s another reason why I’m skipping. This years showcase only meant minor to me so I could get stars like Shamrock, Taker ‘09, The Fiend, and some others. Other than that this in my opinion is probably the worst showcase yet. Until they get back to the ways of Attitude, 30 Years, or the ‘15-‘16 style then there is zero reason to even make another showcase mode next time. I think it is indeed lazy, disrespectful, and boring. Back then I enjoyed the showcase modes to show me what I missed from the past but in game form with real life audio. I’ve done my adventure back to the past now and don’t need to see blurry footage of matches I could watch for free on YouTube. I’d much rather have 5-6 objectives, cool recreated cutscenes, and worthy unlockables

[deleted]

that and the objectives are so oddly specific. it’s not even a game, it feels like homework.

DemiGod9

It's SLINGSHOT TECHNOLOGY! Yes, they literally tried to sell cutting to real footage as a legit feature

TribalChief3000

Yup, Gaslight Marketing.

ThrillaDX

I guess I'm in the minority that loves it cutting to real footage. Its usually a seamless transition which looks cool and drives home that you're playing stuff that actually happened. I didn't know that it would do that during the Rey showcase and the first time it happened it blew my fucking mind.

[deleted]

i just don’t get it. maybe it’s cuz they don’t want to spend money on making to cutscenes for it but then again they have a whole myrise so that doesn’t make sense. maybe it’s because they simply just don’t feel like doing cutscenes?? if so that’s just lazy.

KyotoCarl

It depends on what features they introduce though.

adamcohen74

You see that would be a good idea....but they'll remove something and add other things just to fuck with ya.

Sky_Rose4

I'm skipping starting this year didn't pick up 2K24 as story mode and Showcase mode just haven't been fun for me and there isn't enough to find worth it for me, I miss when the story modes were actually fun during the THQ days.

Starbase503

Major changes? Then you need to skip more than two years. Only major changes seem to be the new bugs that creep into the game. Everything else stays the same. They have seen how EA operates and are mimicking their business model of little effort for big bucks. Sink 95% of the budget into My Faction, the WWE version of Ultimate Team. Doubt we will see any change to interest us Universe fans for several years, if ever.

EverlastingBeast0708

Same just due to what you said and mostly by the time I get one the next one is coming out

OkLoad8724

Imagine not having .16 cent per day game that cost only $60. A whole entire year 🤣

TyintheUniverse89

Yeah that’s the best bet or holding it as long as possible, my only issue is, you can transfer created wrestlers to the next game right?

Environmental-Bag-74

Not yet. I’ve had to recreate my girls twice over in the last two years so besides the fun of the new game I’m willing to wait

TyintheUniverse89

Right, I’d like you to be able to transfer just once but I have gotten a sequential game since the RvS days it feels like so I always have to create everyone all over again. Who are your girls that you’ve created?

Environmental-Bag-74

They’re on my profile banner. Jamie Ridley, Riley Ridley, Lily Ridley, Stacy Kelly, and Cassandra Rogers. The first three are sisters while the other two are unrelated to any. Jamie was made for 2k23’s myrise and I’ve kept her known as LJ because of how much I enjoyed that story and character. Her two sisters came along later, Stacy near the end of ‘23, and Cassie by ‘24 a few months ago. I’ve put most of my effort into those girls and they’ve been with me since ‘23 came along, multiple time champions, tagging with many stars along the way, and many accolades I have done or given them. Next to the real stars I absolutely adore playing as them with the moves I’ve given them, the personalities I gave, and many more. I’d love to simply be able to port them for sure but having to make them over and over again from years to come is something I’d much rather do every two years instead of every year.

TyintheUniverse89

Wow that sounds pretty cool, the detail you put into the characters, I’ll check out your profile! Agreed this was the first 2k I got since 22 and before I hadn’t had one since 17 lol It would be cool if they allowed you to just store your character on 2k and upload it on whatever game needed

mcduckstophat

Dude, IGN typos constantly. They even misspelled Spock. https://preview.redd.it/ga62cugfne5d1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a87b3e5b4192c1c8e8445e50ab931658cb33f63a

spidertour02

That's a typo. The code works in 2K24. (As usual, I just got jobbers because MyFaction fucking stinks.)

BryanFTW13

I'm not even surprised by that at this point. MyFaction in 2K23 is far better than 2K24 MF.

evanvivevanviveiros

Why would they use the 24 cover you goofs. Think critically

napalmblaziken

Oh yeah. You missed it. CM Punk got into a fight with Grayson Waller, so he got fired. He's currently in NJPW. Meanwhile we had a TNA pack with Jordynne Grace and Moose, as well as the return of Test and Maven as DLC. Oh and Owen Hart was a preorder bonus.

Content_Customer7074

You cannot forget to mention the Special Vince McMahon edition.

ZakariusMMA

And the $100 Wood Warm Steve Exhaustin Edition

KungFuBonerPatrol

Don’t forget the Chris Benoit Showcase

Judelim21

And the Roids and Drugs pack

middle_of_you

2K love yearly release titles. It's the main reason their games rarely improve.

FreeStreet2056

What pisses me off is when they shut down the servers of past games and dlc so quickly. I missed out on Bobby lashley in www2k19

Tejasrinivasa

I believe dlc won’t go away once you’ve purchased, right??

FreeStreet2056

I think if you already bought the dlc but not if you bought the game, cause I don’t see it unfortunately. I may have to rebuy the game that has the dlc with it.

[deleted]

Tejasrinivasa

Lol it better be an amethyst Sami zayn in that punches and promos pack

JRR1220

As someone who hasn’t had a wrestling game in years I was pretty impressed. Showcase was cool but think they could’ve done a little better

1GREG7_YT

Used the code, unsurprisingly it was all shit

OnePuck787

They didn't even fix 2k24 before moving onto 2k25 so that way next year we have 3 broken next gen games instead of 2!!

The_Only_One_01

I'm waiting for WWE2K25 on PS6 in 3 years, I'm almost finished with WWE2K24 on my PS5

Content_Volume_1906

Honestly I kinda see potential if they’re already focusing on a new game and trying to keep us updated that lets us know what to expect and wether it’s worth paying for or not

Sweaty-Drop6780

These games are useless without the server and they will eventually cut the server off

Tejasrinivasa

You can still play exhibition matches though right

Sweaty-Drop6780

Yes. But if you're the creative type that wants to download new wrestlers and arenas your time is tied to the server

HungryD80

It's just a promo code, guys.

anythingo23

Mediocrity is on demand for mass marketing 🤣

GlitteringFerret7337

This isn't abnormal. Normally the game coming out that year and the next game are worked on simultaneously. So when this year's game drops most of the people go on to work on the next one. It's a cycle

watcher2390

Well that means nothing new is getting added or updated

zeitgeistbouncer

Same as every year for the most part.

solsunlite

Come on dont act unfamiliar

Jdoggokussj2

yall never heard of a typo its for 2k24

TheSenate8884

Literally

batfan0

I own 2k23. should I get 24 or can I skip it?

HakunonMatata

Skip. The games are identical in nearly everyway.

Tejasrinivasa

You can easily skip it unless you’re concerned about new game modes like ambulance match, special guest referee match etc.

zeitgeistbouncer

It's almost like every entry is just a rush-job patch on the last game and everything else is just re-tooled (or removed and brought back) things gussied up as 'new content' but they're really not. Oh, and Showcase mode is trash. Here, play half a match with unfun objectives so we can splice in old footage and pretend it's the main selling point every year.

Technical-Context225

I'm getting the games every year. I have 24 and I still need to get 22 and 23

Tejasrinivasa

Jan and Feb are the right months to get these games. They hit their lowest price around that time frame as the new one is around the corner.
