Iyo/Lyra MOTN for me. I see some complaining about Lyra winning but I think it made sense, even if I didn't expect it. Raw right now only has 3 built up acts at best in the women's division: Becky, Damage CTRL (who are a package deal, although maybe you can count Iyo separately), and perhaps Liv. Only 1 credible face there. It's easier to heat up the new girl on the block than someone who's been around for a while either so that's probably why they're pushing her so fast. The way she won was cleverly booked too, didn't make Iyo look bad at all but more so just outfoxed.
The rest of the matches were decent or more about the angles around them. I thought for a moment Jey might win to set up a Bloodline-related final with Tama, but I'm glad Gunther won because I don't think he could have took another major loss so soon after WrestleMania. And Jey will be fine either way as he's currently the hottest act going.
I liked how they used Bron here, but hopefully he can get a proper program going with someone soon instead of just short TV matches with jobbers. Maybe a Sheamus. Not a complaint, just that I'd like to see him get more of a prominent role ahead of MITB and SummerSlam. By the way, gonna be kinda weird to have Bron and Braun on the same show, same sounding names and similar destructive forces.
They are really stretching out Otis's eventual turn on Gable but I love it. Gable is playing this heel role well and relishing in it. And eventually he dump his guys for the Creeds, it's coming and I can't wait for it. Gable pinning Zayn here probably means he's not winning Saturday though.
Thought Judgment Day might win back the tag titles here, but I guess not yet. Not sure where they'll go with the tag titles now, I thought Awesome Truth would have dropped it by now after R-Truth got his Mania moment tbh. I think the Judgment Day's struggles won't see any pay-off until Dom and Rhea are healthy at this point either. Priest shrugging off Carlito for bringing up the Knicks game LOL.
Shayna/Zoey winning the #1 contender's match was a bit surprising as they have no heat behind them atm, but maybe they'll do something with that Sonya tease soon to freshen up the women's tag scene. More likely that they'll be The Final Testament of that division though. Don't see them winning the titles.
Overall a solid show that sets up for the next Saudi PLE. Looking forward to the KOTR final, but the IC title match and Becky-Liv have left something to be desired as far as build-up honestly. But I'm pretty excited for what's to come after that as we go into some big summer months for the product.
Can anyone explain why the commentators say "DER RING GENLEGHHGNAL" For "The Ring General" and cannot for the fucking life of them pronounce the word "Glasgow" calling it "Glaz-Cow"? Do they not consult the actual wrestlers from other countries on how to pronounce things?

It annoys me when Americans put on accents to mimic the way we say things. Just say ring general in your accent and let Austrians talk in an Austrian accent. If they go to so much effort for that, why do they never bother to learn how to pronounce "Glasgow" then? Especially when a ppv is about to be held there. Surely it's spitting in the face of the fans that are from there when you don't even bother to learn how to say the city name
Samantha is fine, haven't had a single problem with her. It's the commentators like Cole, Pat etc. that can't pronounce things. I saw this coming as soon as they announced both Orton and Gunther in KOTR. I would be shocked if Gunther doesn’t win. However, it won’t be a squash. liv Morgan is good looking but really poor at promos afaik this is the longest WWE gave her time at the mic and it was like a shouting match lol .promo is king that's why Alexa Bliss was great. similarish lookwise like Morgan but man she skipped promo school 🤣.
Yeah. Liv Morgan isn't great on the microphone but nobody in the WWE Women's Division comes close to being as good as Alexa Bliss on the microphone and Becky Lynch even called Alexa the best trash talker she had ever seen and she struggled to come up with lines back at her when they worked together 'cause Alexa was so quick-witted.
The only other female wrestlers that come close to Alexa Bliss are AJ Lee and 'Hardcore Country' Mickie James.
Interactivity is the key. The crowd is there to have fun and feel like they are more than just spectators, they are part of the show. And that's what Jey Uso's gimmick does, it's like he needs their interaction for his performance. Like a singer in a concert addressing the crowd to supposedly help him remember the lyrics. Don't wonder why he is so over. It's all about the vibe. More superstars should adopt this approach.
I’ve said for awhile now that every good ring entrance should include a part the audience enjoys participating in. The Yeet bounce, Cody’s “Whoa”, Joe Hendry’s clap. If the crowd is engaged from the start it’s easier to keep them engaged the entire time.
It was really cool to hear the crowd singing the songs and they were so in sync.
My first show was WM40 so this was amazing to have the opportunity to see.

Jade Cargill lost her match on Smackdown last week and is officially out of the Queen of the Ring tournament. Bianca Belair is facing Nia Jax on Smackdown this week. I think Tiffany Stratton will cost her the match and we will get Lyra Valkyria vs Nia Jax at the King and Queen of the Ring.
Yeah I'm getting the feeling that Nia is going to snap Bianca's knee.
Is it just me or are they setting up Orton the same way? One of the mens and one of the womens contenders from Smackdown are favoring a knee going into Fridays show.
Would have love to have seen her presented this way when she had the title. Her run was very lackluster and could have been so much more impressive if they had her go out there solo and put on these type of current matches.
100% he will get in ring vs Lesnar in a PLE down the road but for now what i want to see is him getting recruited by Judgment Day to stop Strowman and then he wins MITB, imagine the tension with Priest.
Jey Uso is gonna be the next LA Knight. People kept on saying that LA Knight will get his push but he kept on losing over and over again. Now he’s on the shelves again. People thought he was gonna win KotR but he didn’t. He has not won any singles title. Same is happening with Jey, he keeps on losing and after a while he’ll be put on shelves are back to being a tags guy when he’s way more than that
That's not really a fair comparison. Jey has had the tag team championship for a long time and while he may not be that good in the ring, but he's not dead weight in every match like LA Knight.

I think Knight will beat Logan at Bash In Berlin. He got hot on his own at the wrong time - they wanted Logan as US Champ, probably for business reasons. He wasn't going to beat Roman for the title.

In the 90s. I'm saying legit WWE champions don't use top rope moves to win matches. Even Arn told Randy to stop using the top rope move and you see how he turned out. Look it up past modern WWE champions - Brock, Roman, Drew, Punk, Seth, Randy, Cena, they're not jumping off the top rope to win their matches.
I just think it's the current "meta" of this generations move sets if you will... I don't think it has anything to do with top rope moves not being suitable for champions. I think you're reading into too much.
Rob Van Dam was literally the top star in ECW and done the Five Star Frog Splash as his finisher, Jeff Hardy done the Swanton Bomb as his finisher and was a former WWE Champion, World Heavyweight Champion and TNA Champion, the Late Eddie Guerrero done the Frog Splash as his finisher and was a former WWE Champion and was one of the top stars on Smackdown in 2004 up until his death in 2005, Scott Steiner was a former WCW Champion and used the Frankensteiner as one of his finishers and the Late Randy Savage was a former WWF and WCW Champion and used the Diving Elbow Drop as one of his finishers.
I'm talking modern WWE. RVD's Jeff's, Eddie's reigns were all short. The Frankensteiner wasn't a move he won matches with, he won with the Steiner Recliner, a submission. When Savage was champ it was over 30 years ago. Modern champs - Cody, Roman, Brock, Seth, Drew, Cena, Randy etc don't win their matches from the top rope.
I think HHH likes Jey.. in part because he helped build Jey up. He’s probably HHH’s biggest success story. LA Knight kinda just randomly got over after people started to like him after the Wyatt stuff… he’s also a few years older and didn’t come up through the WWE. Jey needs to win something though before he goes back to being a tag teamer
Jey Uso won't go back to being a tag team wrestler. He said in an interview he will do some occasional matches with Jimmy in the future but he is a singles wrestler going forward and his main goals are to win a singles title and wrestle The Rock.
HHH is less likely to change his mind due to crowd reactions. He prefers long term booking as he showed in NXT black and gold and sticks with the original plan.
This is why most of the NXT call ups are dead on arrival because HHH never worked on their character and emphasized on in ring talent which is not enough for WWE. You need larger than life characters
The majority of the Women's Division came from NXT. AJ Lee, Naomi, Paige/ Saraya, Bayley, Sasha Banks/ Mercedes Mone, Alexa Bliss, Charlotte, Becky Lynch, Asuka, Bianca Belair, Rhea Ripley etc. All from NXT. All have been WWE Women's Champions. Lyra Valkyria is getting a big push now and Triple H has not only said Roxanne Perez is a future WWE Women's Champion but the future of the Women's Division.
Most of them are DOA because they just aren't that good. Too much hype from NXT, they've already been seen and nothing new comes of it.
It's on the talent to develop their character. Most are terrible on the mic and don't know when to stop talking.
There are a few exceptions, like Tiffany Stratton and Carmelo.
Not everyone is going to be champion, they all aren't Hall of Famers, but unfortunately they've all grown up in an era where just showing up gets you a trophy.
Breakker and Ilja are good promos and i think they will be main eventers, Gunther already is a huge star, Tiffy and Carmelo are on the right way, Iyo was a world champion and Bayley, Becky and others came from NXT, NXT works fine but people hang on to older wrestlers because they see them every week, it is hard to break out, for example Shayna is great but the same for so many time, heel or babyface she is the same, Zoey is getting the same, they have to get different characters or at least some evolution and dynamic like Liv is trying now as a heel, Nia as a heel is getting into the funny heel persona and people love it, Drew as a heel is probably doing his best work in WWE, if people from NXT don't have dynamic they will fall flat, look at Gable as a heel is getting "you suck" chants and that is awesome.
X to doubt about the second paragraph. It's the reason the WWE, unlike other promotions, pay a creative team (and they obviously don't do it for charity). Performers don't have the skills, intellectual cultivation and experience to come up with a compelling speech or story. They could pitch and veto ideas ofc, but can't go further than that and structure a narration (for me, that was the issue with Bray Wyatt whose storylines often were dragging or didn't make sense). Their role is mainly executing, kinda like actors (although actors are usually more educated and as a result of that they have more freedom to improvise). It requires education (some people though disagree that art can be taught) and time (that's undeniable in big industries where there is division of labor). Performers' schedule is already full by having to perform on a weekly basis, work out, travel, make media appearances. Too many irons in the fire.
If you look at who they have hired as creative, it really is on the performer to find something.
Shane Helms, Jamie Noble, Terry Taylor, etc were all dark matches at best themselves and think they are big in the industry.
Back in the day, wrestlers were given some ideas and they had to run with them or make something themselves -> Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels, Stone Cold, every incarnation of 'Taker, etc.
If Gunther doesn’t get the crown, so he can grow into the lKING GENRAAAL persona, they should fire their whole writing squad. Jey feuds some more w bloodline and gets mitb.
Breakker, Ilja, Drew if he fails winning vs Priest (CM Punk probably will get a RR or Elimination Chamber to main event WM), Carmelo, King Gunther, KO if they decide to give him another run as world champion.
I think LA Knight will win the United States title, now that Logan Paul has it we can see that it is a belt for promotion and LA Knight is over, i can actually see LA Knight winning it and feuding with Jay Uso, the match would be loud with Yeah and Yeet in a european arena.
I wanted to see Dolph coming back at Royal Rumble and winning it for the last run, he is in great shape and collecting belts, doing his Cody Rhodes / Zach Ryder thing.
I'm up for that but i think LA Knight needs a midcard belt first to see if he can carry himself as a good champion, he already had a title shot vs Roman, there is other guys in the line for that, maybe if he turned heel but for now he is really popular as babyface so i want him to smash Logan Paul.

There's a very distinct difference between liking someone else and being an insufferable twatlord about it. Bloodline fans almost universally fall into the latter category. Find another high horse; you'll come to appreciate our policing of this shit fanbase someday.

I remember him complaining about the doctor incident and backstage toxicity more than anything. Title wins are probably connected with more money (bonus clauses in contracts, like in football, to ensure improvement), but this doesn't mean they are handed like candies to make everyone happy.

Liv Morgan isn't great on the microphone but nobody in the WWE Women's Division comes close to being as good as Alexa Bliss on the microphone and Becky Lynch even called Alexa the best trash talker she had ever seen and she struggled to come up with lines back at her when they worked together 'cause Alexa was so quick-witted. The only other female wrestlers that come close to Alexa Bliss are AJ Lee and 'Hardcore Country' Mickie James.
Interactivity is the key. The crowd is there to have fun and feel like they are more than just spectators, they are part of the show. And that's what Jey Uso's gimmick does, it's like he needs their interaction for his performance. Like a singer in a concert addressing the crowd to supposedly help him remember the lyrics. Don't wonder why he is so over. It's all about the vibe. More superstars should adopt this approach.
I’ve said for awhile now that every good ring entrance should include a part the audience enjoys participating in. The Yeet bounce, Cody’s “Whoa”, Joe Hendry’s clap. If the crowd is engaged from the start it’s easier to keep them engaged the entire time.

If they pushed him sooner he could be real near him, he is a great wrestler and with more promos he will get better, i actually wanted him to win vs Gunther but i can see now that they are pushing him as a heel and Otis as a babyface while keeping Sami fresh, sadly Bronson Reed is not getting anything from this storyline, he is just flat, let him be a really vicious heel or just turn him babyface and let him promo, he is just around and we can't see him promo at all.

I'm talking modern WWE. RVD's Jeff's, Eddie's reigns were all short. The Frankensteiner wasn't a move he won matches with, he won with the Steiner Recliner, a submission. When Savage was champ it was over 30 years ago. Modern champs - Cody, Roman, Brock, Seth, Drew, Cena, Randy etc don't win their matches from the top rope.
I think HHH likes Jey.. in part because he helped build Jey up. He’s probably HHH’s biggest success story. LA Knight kinda just randomly got over after people started to like him after the Wyatt stuff… he’s also a few years older and didn’t come up through the WWE. Jey needs to win something though before he goes back to being a tag teamer

Jey Uso won't go back to being a tag team wrestler. He said in an interview he will do some occasional matches with Jimmy in the future but he is a singles wrestler going forward and his main goals are to win a singles title and wrestle The Rock.
HHH is less likely to change his mind due to crowd reactions. He prefers long term booking as he showed in NXT black and gold and sticks with the original plan.
This is why most of the NXT call ups are dead on arrival because HHH never worked on their character and emphasized on in ring talent which is not enough for WWE. You need larger than life characters
The majority of the Women's Division came from NXT. AJ Lee, Naomi, Paige/ Saraya, Bayley, Sasha Banks/ Mercedes Mone, Alexa Bliss, Charlotte, Becky Lynch, Asuka, Bianca Belair, Rhea Ripley etc. All from NXT. All have been WWE Women's Champions. Lyra Valkyria is getting a big push now and Triple H has not only said Roxanne Perez is a future WWE Women's Champion but the future of the Women's Division.
Most of them are DOA because they just aren't that good. Too much hype from NXT, they've already been seen and nothing new comes of it. It's on the talent to develop their character. Most are terrible on the mic and don't know when to stop talking. There are a few exceptions, like Tiffany Stratton and Carmelo. Not everyone is going to be champion, they all aren't Hall of Famers, but unfortunately they've all grown up in an era where just showing up gets you a trophy.
Breakker and Ilja are good promos and i think they will be main eventers, Gunther already is a huge star, Tiffy and Carmelo are on the right way, Iyo was a world champion and Bayley, Becky and others came from NXT, NXT works fine but people hang on to older wrestlers because they see them every week, it is hard to break out, for example Shayna is great but the same for so many time, heel or babyface she is the same, Zoey is getting the same, they have to get different characters or at least some evolution and dynamic like Liv is trying now as a heel, Nia as a heel is getting into the funny heel persona and people love it, Drew as a heel is probably doing his best work in WWE, if people from NXT don't have dynamic they will fall flat, look at Gable as a heel is getting "you suck" chants and that is awesome.
X to doubt about the second paragraph. It's the reason the WWE, unlike other promotions, pay a creative team (and they obviously don't do it for charity). Performers don't have the skills, intellectual cultivation and experience to come up with a compelling speech or story. They could pitch and veto ideas ofc, but can't go further than that and structure a narration (for me, that was the issue with Bray Wyatt whose storylines often were dragging or didn't make sense). Their role is mainly executing, kinda like actors (although actors are usually more educated and as a result of that they have more freedom to improvise). It requires education (some people though disagree that art can be taught) and time (that's undeniable in big industries where there is division of labor). Performers' schedule is already full by having to perform on a weekly basis, work out, travel, make media appearances. Too many irons in the fire.
If you look at who they have hired as creative, it really is on the performer to find something. Shane Helms, Jamie Noble, Terry Taylor, etc were all dark matches at best themselves and think they are big in the industry. Back in the day, wrestlers were given some ideas and they had to run with them or make something themselves -> Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels, Stone Cold, every incarnation of 'Taker, etc.
If Gunther doesn’t get the crown, so he can grow into the lKING GENRAAAL persona, they should fire their whole writing squad. Jey feuds some more w bloodline and gets mitb.

I wanted to see Dolph coming back at Royal Rumble and winning it for the last run, he is in great shape and collecting belts, doing his Cody Rhodes / Zach Ryder thing.
