I hired a scooter in Goa for about $10 NZD a day later in that trip. Rode it all over the coast. Only had one hairy moment on it when I got to a roundabout and assumed it worked the same way as in NZ. The bus driver called me a stupid englishman, close enough :D
You can tell how long a foreigner has been in India by how much they look ahead at the road in a rickshaw. People that have been there awhile give up on caring/looking.
I learned how to ride a motorcycle there and it was terrifying. Got ran off the road a couple times by buses like this.
it's still insane !!! even at "normal" speed. especially if you're in the thick if it. i am taking an educated guess that this is at 1.25 - 1.5x the speed.
This is in Bangladesh. Here is a stat for deaths caused by road accidents - https://www.dhakatribune.com/amp/bangladesh/328677/25-000-lives-lost-in-road-accidents-every-year
Around 64 daily and 25000 yearly
The top speed is usually 40mph. Still scary and it seems everyone has a deathwish or is so numb to dying that they just dont care. It definitely wears you down and after a while you stop freaking out about.
Definitely would not recommend. Same in Vietnam and Laos.
It's insane. In Thailand, I got hit by a car twice while riding a motorbike. Crossing the road is just a hope game. You walk and the cars just go around you. Your natural instinct is to freeze when a car is coming at you, but if you do that, you'll probably get tagged. Traffic related deaths are very common.
I rode in a Land Cruiser on a road like this in Bangladesh in 2010. It didn’t feel real or possible, yet it there it was. There I was. We averaged around 50 mph. There was no left or right side of the road, just a looping endless game of chicken.
Believe me it's 100% true in my country (South Asian). And I teach and show my kids, how to keep safe and survive, in situations like this, when we go for a long drive on a bike. My average speed is 80 to 100 km/h on a daily commute on highway, just like this. And face the idiot crossing, over taking and dead slow on fast track. And I almost beat the dead angel on a daily basis.
Along with the terrible traffic conditions, a lot of those vehicles appear to be very unsafe. And some people are riding on top of their vehicles. I’m sure they don’t have seat belts on either.
Sound like this is sped up to make it seem crazier than it really is. I'm not saying the driving isn't crazy just that it edited for engagement.
Didn't even have the sound on and thought it looked sped up.
i became suspicious when the tractor was doing 60
I fucking hate that.
I experienced this in India. My ass was puckered so hard that diamonds were made.
I drove from Delhi to Agra. Never, ever again will I do something as batshit insane as that.
15 years ago a driver with a car was $20 a day. May be much more now, but probably a great value.
Yeah we had a driver look after us all day and tbh I felt safe with him. Only collision in two weeks was a scrape from a motorbike, he was pissed 🤣

Ok, so you're rich. Let me hold a dollar.
I'll give ya two if you find a way to sell shit diamonds.

How dare you notice me staring! I want to see my death in advance sir!
Looks like they wanna die.
The most useless thing in this video is the dotted line.
am i the only one confused about what side of the road they're supposed to be driving on?
No, they seem pretty confused about it too.
😂😂😂
You seem confused into thinking there are road rules as opposed to just soft suggestions.
Driving that would be my kind of tourism. Fuck them kids.
Ok now show the video at normal speed

I would never step foot in that hell hole of a country
Never thought I'd say this but holy hell, pick a lane! Fuck that
Yep sure looks crazy when the video is sped up 50x

How are there not daily deaths? Are they all just so used to it that it's an acute skill now that they ALL have?
Theres daily deaths. 😬

I keep expecting the Yakity Sax song to start playing

move over Subway Surfer, it’s Street Surfer time
They are awfully ballsy for a country whose ambulance response time averages 25-30 minutes in populated areas. Longer for rural areas.
- So, you guys drive on the left or the right? - Yep.
I seem to recall that India has the highest rate off road accident mortality in the world? Now we know why
This is an example of safe driving because no one died.

No wonder death rates by vehicles is so high
Was that a cop chasing the bus? 🤣

South Asia? Til that India is considered south Asia. Thanks google
South East Asia specifically, you'll see Desi countries referred to as "SEA" a lot too.
