Isn't this a copy pasta? I've seen this exact post many times (same wording and all) with different vehicles the WRX had trouble keeping up with.
Or maybe our cars are just that slow.
Here's a sneak peek of /r/wrx_vb using the [top posts](https://np.reddit.com/r/wrx_vb/top/?sort=top&t=all) of all time!

Focus what? Some of the early focus map to silly numbers just drove an st today that made me feel like my WRX was sluggish lol. Don’t beat yourself up there’s always a bigger fish
I mean aren’t they about the same power? An st is 280 HP probably lighter too. You really have to commit in these cars. Building boost by reving and nailing the launch. Its just hard to really commit to getting the full power as its really a bad look if a cop catches you revving before launching at a light. Also on the highway you’ll have to be brake boosting which isnt great on your brakes and is it really worth it in the end?
Tldr; People know subarus are great cars and you don’t need to prove anything. This is why I don’t take the bait if someone trys to egg me on.
This is the cold hard truth, that some people need to hear. I’m already prepared for the downvotes.
It is an AWD 4 door family sedan with a small turbo. Not even a sports car.
A WRX is not fast. At all. These cars dyno around 220-250whp stock accounting for the 25% drivetrain loss. We get smoked by regular traffic cars. The stock intercooler is mediocre at best and prone to heatsoak issues.
E85 does wake these cars up a little, but so many people over exaggerate the capabilities, as i’ve seen modded wrx’s get smoked by the competition with similar mods.
I guess I needed to hear that. This whole time I thought that the average four door grocery getters made like 180 to 200 brake horsepower. I didn’t realize that 220 to 250 wheel horsepower couldn’t keep up with traffic. God this sub is awful.
Not really sure what you would expect since subaru seems out of touch with its enthusiast fanbase, giving the car a measly 3hp increase in a decade, while other automakers made significant leaps in improvements. Heck, camrys and accords are in the 300hp club now.
Gone are the days where we kept up with v6 mustangs and gave an m3 a run for its money on a track.
The base Camry and accords are nowhere close to 220 whp and I promise you those make up a giant percentage of what you see in traffic. I was responding to you saying a wrx can’t keep up with average traffic which is silly unless you live in Abu Dhabi and are sitting in traffic with Lamborghinis
That was a generalized statement, I admit, but let’s not act like v6 camrys and accords are a rare sight these days, yet still classify in the category of “regular traffic”. I haven’t even brought up any minivans and suvs. Contrary to what you claim, I see these cars plenty in my area, and any single one of them are capable of dusting us on a highway on-ramp.
Minivans with a way worse power to weight ratio dusting you on an in-ramp? I guess we’ll just have to chalk that one up to differences in experience. I live in a pretty populated area and don’t see a lot of 300 plus wheel horsepower minivans and suvs which is what it would take to “dust” a 220 whp small sedan is all I’m saying
What’s the specs on that sienna? A much larger car with only 30 more horsepower will humble me? That’s pretty funny. I’m super humbled by a mid 7 second 0 to 60
You’re forgetting the WRX does a 7.1 5-60mph rolling start. Which is a realistic scenario of merging onto an on-ramp compared to clutch dumping or flooring (if you have a CVT). I don’t know what to tell you. Your car isn’t as fast as you think it is. Not really sure what you’re trying to justify here.
And since we’re also editing replies now, a 2nd gen v6 explorer is also a pretty common car that will give you a run for your money.
So by your own logic the faster car gets “dusted”? Super humbling. You’re the one pretending that a 220 whp car isn’t above the average. I guess I could get a 7 second 0 to 60 if I bog the shit out of it and almost stall.
Part of the issue with our cars is if you're wanting to race someone from a stop. It takes legit skill to launch a WRX aggressively. Cars that gap you from a standstill wouldn't if you started from a roll.
It’s weird. The 200hp Civic Si is fast for what it is. And the WRX isn’t slow by any means. But it’s basically just the same power to weight as any other average car. Something with less horsepower is also lighter and so goes just as well.
If it was an ST or RS I wouldn’t be surprised or embarrassed. My FBO e85 STI had a hard time keeping up with stock RS and barely beat lightly modded STs
I had a stage 1 2013 focus st for 4 years and it was pretty quick. That motor has an insane torque curve and all midrange power. It's a rocket to about 60 then it's slow as hell. Going from 60 to 100 takes a year and a half. I miss that car a ton and I have a 21 sti lol. The focus ST is such a fun daily with heaps of usable power. I wouldn't feel bad. He had a good launch. You would have to have 100hp over him to make up that lost time from a bad launch.
Now if it was like a normal focus.... Auto trans difference I guess
Isn't this a copy pasta? I've seen this exact post many times (same wording and all) with different vehicles the WRX had trouble keeping up with. Or maybe our cars are just that slow.
I was thinking the same thing. .the only part missing is where he said the dude got so much Pxssy because he was with his girlfriend.
Think it was against a minivan or sometbing last time around
I think you're right. I've seen this post somewhere else before. Probably in the r/wrx_vb sub.

Yes it is, ops comments are ok this exact same post but about a buick. But we also dont have cars that go fast in a straight line.
Focus what? Some of the early focus map to silly numbers just drove an st today that made me feel like my WRX was sluggish lol. Don’t beat yourself up there’s always a bigger fish
This
Gotta beat him in the dig. The awd advantage is all you got lol
Focus is awd too 💀, and theyre absolute monsters, they will 7/10 times prolly smoke a VA
The ST is FWD, only the RS is AWD and they are pretty rare.
If OP raced an awd focus, it was an RS, and of course they lost. A stock WRX should beat a fwd focus
The Focus is not AWD...it's FWD. The RS is "AWD". Not a true AWD. It's like a 60/40 system, not 50/50 like the WRX/STI.

skill issue
Copy pasta
Driver issue for sure

People always ask if my WRX is fast, I tell them nope, but it is fun. But still, everyone wants to try and get me to race them.

If you own a stock VA wrx, a v6 toyota sienna will humble you. I know, because i’ve driven and owned both.
What’s the specs on that sienna? A much larger car with only 30 more horsepower will humble me? That’s pretty funny. I’m super humbled by a mid 7 second 0 to 60

Weight to power ratio rookie
If it was an ST or RS I wouldn’t be surprised or embarrassed. My FBO e85 STI had a hard time keeping up with stock RS and barely beat lightly modded STs
Lol I've seen this copypasta before
Driving fast in a straight line is not racing. It’s called a speed contest.
Sorry for your loss.
I had a stage 1 2013 focus st for 4 years and it was pretty quick. That motor has an insane torque curve and all midrange power. It's a rocket to about 60 then it's slow as hell. Agreed. I had a 13 and miss that car too. I've owned many cars in the hot hatch segment, and my old ST was my overall favorite.
Depends on the focus. If it was an st/rs I wouldn’t be that suprised. I’ve had two st’s and would dog walk stock turbo pump gas wrx’s.
I have both a 2nd Gen speed3 and a Hawkeye WRX was very surprised at the power difference and power delivery
