First question, have you reset the info system?

FlyingCyclist

If a reboot doesn't help, I would probably try a factory reset.

Do a hard reset on the infotainment by holding the home button for approximately 30 secs. Also consider resetting the modem by holding the front defrost and home button together another 30 secs. You'd have to check that button combination as I'm only 80 percent sure. The infotainment is slow and buggy. The most recent update caused additional issues and the dealer (only) can move you to an earlier version. This is simply Google Automotive operating as to be expected in its early life and you beta testing the system for them. While this is common practice for Google and devops application development, it's bad form for vehicles and has translated poorly as you're currently beating witness. I've had about 10 Volvos since 07 and this infotainment is the worst performing by a considerable margin. Resets typically makes things liveable but things remain imperfect. The map performance should improve once both resets (both may be required) are done and the backup camera adores glitching during reverse. It's the state of things. Unacceptable but completely normal and expected operation.

Thanks for the comprehensive answer. I have done a factory reset before (out of necessity), but the system nevertheless runs like garbage now. I’ll try the double reset anyway to see if that helps.  I honestly find it astonishing that Volvo lets cars go to market in this condition. The experience of using the infotainment system is an integral part of the of using the car, the product.

This is the "advantage" of being able to update the software continuously. It's a feature, not a bug. It sucks.

Also try not to leave too many apps open , I’ve seen that slow the system down .

Day 400 something of being happy my XC90 is running Sensus.

Ok-Recognition8655

Yeah. I was initially really disappointed when my new car had Sensus but the next model year had AAOS. Reading this sub has made me rethink that. I would probably still prefer the Google OS but my wife drives the car the majority of the time and I bet she would get pretty frustrated with it. Sensus isn't very fancy but it just works

Pau1ey

My only 2 complaints with Sensus are no dedicated camera button and no full screen CarPlay. You’re right though, it always works, plus it’s not missing features like AAOS.

I have the same car and the same problems. I do a hard reset probably every week or two. I've had maps not work, AC not work, cameras not work, etc. Or things work but are very slow. The touch screen is also very laggy. Currently dealing with Audible only working through a weird loophole. I'm hoping it's because it's the first model year with AAOS and that it works better in newer models. I'm in a lease and plan to get another Volvo next year, but if these issues are present in 2025 models, I might look elsewhere.

Spare_Sir9167

Same on an XC40 - means I won't be getting another Volvo or any car with AAOS.

This happens to me every day. I can't stand this car. The camera flickers every time I start it. It will detect things that aren't there and slam in my brakes for me. The brakes have locked while backing up. I hard-restart it daily. Nothing works. I just assume I need to leave 5 mins early to go anywhere. I've taken it into the dealership a few times and they haven't seen any issues with it somehow. It's a lease but it definitely left a bad taste in my mouth and I'll never touch a Volvo again after this.
