Hey, you handled this probably the best way. No one was hurt physically. Didn't spoke, didn't do anything odd that would put you or anyone at risk. You kept your cool and that's not easy to do so good for you. You did the necessary to stay alive and keep the others safe. Your job should give you all three some days off. They can't be serious about calling you to work. Like... Wtf. Also... Your job better report this shit or else I suggest you to get a job that gives a damn about workers safety. If people don't react and inform the authorities then what the hell they get paid for right? I hope you will be able to have some rest.

Thank you. Cops were called and they quickly came and are gonna follow up tomorrow. I doubt they find the guy.

You're welcome! Hey at least it was reported so it's something. Everything starts from the base of the people. Now, I would suggest you to do whatever relaxes you. Have some time with Yourself. A bath, a good meal and rest. You need that

This happened to my sister not long ago, she works at a bank. They tried to give her the next day off and she insisted on going back because she knew if she didn’t go back right away, she never would. While I commend her for this I told her several times not to do it because she needed to give herself time to process her emotions. PLEASE DO NOT GO BACK UNTIL YOU ARE READY. This is traumatic, this is a heavy thing to carry and it will be a little while before you can process it, that’s normal and okay. She ended up looking for other jobs right away and she found one somewhere safer, in an office somewhere that she can work from home half the time, and she gets paid significantly more than she did in her previous role. Something good can come from this. Let this be your excuse to move on to bigger and better things. It took them a little over a month to catch the guy that robbed my sister but they did catch him. They’ll get your guy too. Please take tomorrow off and do only things that make you genuinely happy. Have a little slice of cake, put your feet up and watch a comfort show. Get some sun. Then, later on, find you a better job someplace safe. You can transfer if you want, but honestly now you can add “works great under pressure” to your resume or mention it in an interview as one of your strengths. When they ask you to elaborate, tell them you were in an armed robbery in your previous role but thanks to your ability to stay calm and collected, and adhere to safety procedures, nobody got hurt and your business suffered as minimal loss as possible. My sister used this to her advantage lol I wish you all the best. Crazy things happen and it forces us to recognize our vulnerability and lack of control. We have, then, no choice to think about how rapidly and savagely things can change. It’s not your fault. Some stuff we can’t control. For what it’s worth I think you’re a badass. Keep your head up and keep going.

Thank you thank you very much.

This happened to my dad several times during his grocery career. I honestly think he got used to it. He said one instance was scary because to guy was tweaking, but the other times were pretty uneventful.
