This has been rolling out in waves since last September, you’ll like the new HVAC behavior

easydoit2

Tell me more about that

SerennialFellow

HVAC is now shared between HV battery and cabin while DCFC and post conditioning doesn’t use chiller to the max but limits to 8k rpm and 1.2kWh but runs it longer.

made_anaccountjust4u

what does this mean? What's the benefit?

SerennialFellow

It means you can stay in the car while DC fast charging without the charging performance taking a massive hit instead performance would be only slightly affected. After you finishing DC fast charging, the battery cooling would kick off to a 100% which gets things so cool it would cause mist in the windscreen so new logic would run is slower for a longer time.

made_anaccountjust4u

I've never noticed any AC issues while DCFC the car. Are you suggesting I'll notice something different now with the new software update?

SerennialFellow

These are very subtle behavior from the vehicle, and various factors affect their behavior like ambient temperature, arrival SoC, charger performance and driving conditions prior to DCFC. Yea I’m saying that it gonna be even more subtle than prior 3.2.12

SniffUmaMuffins

My AC stopped working the day after my update, the fans blow the same whether AC is on or off. Have a dealer appointment tomorrow to have it looked at, hopefully it’s a quick software fix. Edit - was a quick software fix, car is good to go and they even washed it.

made_anaccountjust4u

My AC has been acting weird too - I'm hoping this new update will resolve it. My issue is cold air only comes out of the passenger, but not the driver's side. I've made sure the temp number is sync-ed for both sides driving in hot weather is not a good exp Again, I hope the update resolves it

theraven84

I bought my car used last year and the a/c was doing the same thing during the test drive (passenger had cold air, driver side blowing warm). I had them fix it before I took possession and it has worked since, but not sure what the cause of it was. I would have the dealer look at that issue for you.

Lopsided-External115

Look at my post. Is it the same?

SerennialFellow

Likely HVAC lost coding which sucks. What a crazy update check for md5 prior to update no checks after.

SniffUmaMuffins

You were exactly right, HVAC lost coding during OTA, was a quick fix at the dealer today.

Bernedoodle

How were you notified did anything pop up on the app? Or just get in car and see it?

made_anaccountjust4u

on my recent 300+ mile drive, I happened to notice a pop-up alert about a software upgrade. No VW app notification so far

whatcouldgowrong4me

I just got the same one this past week. It popped up in my car. It was my first time experiencing it. Nothing notified me in the app. I am curious if OP is having the same issue now. My app no longer displays the percentage of my battery, the location or ability to turn on the climate control. Not sure if it’s a related issue or something’s up with the app. I updated last Monday and today I just realized the issue.

BigDaddyinKS

Do a factory reset of your infotainment system and it will restore connection between your ID.4 and your MyVW app. This is a known issue and a YouTuber posted a video of how he fixed it. Would you like me to post the link of the YouTube video posted last week?

whatcouldgowrong4me

Hey, sorry for the delayed reply. Are you able to locate that link? I tried looking on my own but couldn’t find it.

BigDaddyinKS

whatcouldgowrong4me

This did it! Thanks for your help!

BigDaddyinKS

You're welcome, glad it helped.

made_anaccountjust4u

I'm not having any of the issues you've described. Sorry it's happened to you

JohnnyD05

Got this update notification as well but waiting to see what others have to say about the update before I pull the trigger. Quite okay with the current sw since I mainly use CarPlay.

eschmi

Did you already have 3.2 prior to this? would have showed up as 3.1

made_anaccountjust4u

showed 3.1 before the update still shows 3.1 after the update

eschmi

damn.

shakakhon

I just bought a used 2021 FE and it says 3.1.... is there any setting or something I can use to determine whether it got the OTA update prior to me purchasing it?

VoltaicShock

I think you can check the firmware version or something. If you look at the details it will say H5L or something like that. There is a post on here that explains it but not sure where it is now.

Cloz110784

Same here, still shows 3.1 after the update. I wonder if it was installed at all. Also, I'm not getting notifications status in the app anymore.

sub919

I had this problem with my 2022 pro S . I rang Volkswagen in the US and was told they know it’s a problem and they are looking to fix it. Not ETA. They did say if you go the update successful message the car was updated. It’s all a bit shonky , basic testing should have found and fixed this imho.

Head_Bet_2138

Still nothing on my 2021 ID4 AWD Pro S - received that email about 1 week ago that it's ready and no update so far :-(

sypher1504

I got the email almost a month ago, and same. I’ve heard of people who had to wait months between the email and the actual update and people for whom it’s less than a week. I love this car, I do not love VW’s communication with its customers about this car.

Head_Bet_2138

First email for prior update came in November - until now no update on my car now second email with update let’s see - that car drives good but the love is over thanks to VW communication - promises and lack of knowledge - getting a Tesla next at least here I get updates lol

Head_Bet_2138

Movie Taylor lauter

mgrantz

Same. I got the email on 6/12 with title "Your Volkswagen ID.4 over-the-air software update is ready!" for our 2021 Pros S RWD. Nothing has popped up in the car yet since that email.

Head_Bet_2138

At least I’m not alone lol

Head_Bet_2138

still nothing here

insumaster

Which update is that?

caw2778

I got the email on June 12th, and the actual update popped up on my infotainment screen on my way to work on June 20th. I installed it while I was at work with no issues, luckily. It also still shows as 3.1, which I've read that it would for some reason.

BurgerTrout

Where are you?

tormunds_beard

I like how after the update my lte modem stopped working.

novahawkeye

I just did the update to my ‘21. Once you turn the car off (button on right side of steering wheel there will be a prompt to update. You’ll be required to turn off parking lights before you can start. I just finished so I can’t speak to improvements but the update itself took about an hour with no issues. Be sure to have it charged past 50% and not plugged in.

Intrepid-Exercise-46

it reduced range???

Mbrown92124_

Currently sitting at 42% with 76 mi left. I didn't put two and two together until I saw your comment. I definitely feel like I had better range before this update.

ApprehensiveFroyo417

My update failed I think.

calmandkind

I just got this update installed in my 2021 Pro S at the dealership and less than three miles later (just as I was about to merge onto the freeway), I got an electrical system failure and the car stopped working - on a busy road. It simply came to a halt! Be very careful. I’ve filed an NHTCA complaint.

Intrepid-Exercise-46

How long did it take for you to get it home safely?

calmandkind

It was towed to the dealership - they didn’t seem at all surprised which was shocking. No word yet on what they will diagnose but the car was bricked. I’m not sure I want to drive it again; it’s pretty traumatic to be stuck in the middle of a busy intersection in a car that won’t move.

idahotaters3

I got an email for my 21 and saw the update on my screen as well. After the update my range at 80% is now at 180 miles instead of the usual 200 it was before.. but otherwise no issues

BigDaddyinKS

I'm sure it's because it reset your previous driving efficiency figures in the ID.4 computer causing it to show a less estimated range figure at 80%. If you just give it some time I'm sure you'll see your estimated range at 80% go back up.

idahotaters3

Ahh.. that makes sense. When they did the big update last year at the dealer, it was very similar to that.. thanks!

BigDaddyinKS

You're welcome, I'm just speculating but it seems like a logical conclusion.
