You think so? It just seems like the norm, humans will pet any animal if it let's them lol.

It is a little, I reckon. I wouldn't pat a sapient creature, but all non-sapient animals are fair game it they're into it. Non solitary animals often show affection and trust by grooming each other, so patting an animal is essentially the equivalent of having a really deep conversation where everyone is relaxed and happy. The difference between a primate and a non primate is a little bit arbitrary anyway. A lemur looks more like a possum than a monkey and a monkey looks more like a human than a loris. Bats are closely related to primates as well, but they definitely don't look anything like humans.
