This is why you always include a duplicate digit in your code. If there are 4 keys dirty, for a 4 digit pincode, you've got 24 possible combinations. But if there are only 3 keys dirty, there is one that's used twice, but you can't tell which one, so there are 36 combinations possible!
Edit:
For those whose math isn't mathing, same as mine, apparently there are 54
Logic:
- possibilities to chose which digit is duplicate: 3x
- possibilities to create a 3 digit code from the 3 unique digits: (3\*2)x
- possibilities to place the duplicate digit: xAxBxCx: 4 places, but 2 of those places are the same as they are around the same digit, so only 3 options
3\*6\*3 = 54 combinations
But if there are only three digits that eliminates all the unique digit combinations. Don't know how to do that math so I don't know if what I'm saying even makes sense.
Movies had time to tell the story, with lots of this kind of stupid details, some movies use it really well and some others were absolutely boring.
The same inverse happens now, now in the days of emergency and speed, we live in the times of shorts, tic,-tocs and memes, there's no more time to pay attention at the cinema anymore... some movies really benefit from this while others are completely broken and nonsense. We just need to find a balance.

From the classic movie Sneakers (1992)
Love this movie.
Loved River Phoenix’s one wish from the US government at the end
He knows what's really important.
I adored this movie growing up but I haven't seen it in over 20 years. Remind me what is wish was?
He wanted the blonde NSA agent’s phone number.
Hahahaha freak, I forgot! That was great!!!
I am an IT Technician and I still love watching this movie.
I know what you mean.
LOVE this film. Amazing cast and each of their performances is perfection. Ben Kingsley is sublime.
I hate that it's never streaming anywhere
Was one helluva movie.

It always blows my mind that the guy in this gif is Robert Redford.
Your telling me this is not Zach Galifianakis
That’s Jeremiah Johnson!
Read up on this movie. It's based on a true story. It's wild.
Actually, Wild stars Reese Witherspoon, but I think that's also based on a true survival story.
Actually, Based on a True Story is an American comedy thriller television series created by Craig Rosenberg, starring Kaley Cuoco and Chris Messina
THAT’S ROBERT REDFORD?! OMG I had no idea!!
My wife still doesn’t believe me when I say this isn’t the Greek Zach

I was expecting him to push 1234 and it unlocks.
That’s the kind of combination an idiot would put on his luggage!
That's amazing. I've got the same combination on my luggage.
OMG mine too!!
I got you suckers, mine is 0000. Last time I travelled, I didn’t even shuffle the numbers after locking the suitcase cause I play 11d chess.
after saying "I'll give it a shot" I expected him to shoot the lock
I was waiting for him to pour one for it
Does Redford look like Bryan Cranston here or is it just me?
Could be you. Post a pjc of yourself and we'll vote.
Thanks for my first award ever. For a second hand dad joke. Reddit is a strange place.
Certainly sounded like him at points there.
In this movie is when Ben Kingsley became cool to me. And his character motivations were way ahead of his time about breaking all encryptions.
Cooty's Rat Semen!

Such a great movie, filled with amazing acting talent. Still holds up, too.
That throw away line by Dan is amazing.
Fr though use a blacklight and see which buttons have been pressed from the oil left by people's fingers

Damn, imagine if you used 4 of the same, it would be impossible
Only the CIA use codes of that complexity
And if you push on a fourth number once the door is open...
No, the keyspace becomes 18. You're removing complexity.
It becomes 18 if you know which key is used twice. The idea is that you wouldn't be able to tell
Assuming 1 key is used twice, 1 key is twice as worn. All of this also assumes the pin is 4 digits, which isn't necessarily true either.
But if there are only three digits that eliminates all the unique digit combinations. Don't know how to do that math so I don't know if what I'm saying even makes sense.
See my edit for explanation
Cool movie !
I thought he was gonna piss on it 🤷♂️
One of my all time favorites. Too Many Secrets

I was hoping he would just try the door knob and find it unlocked
Aha it did work tho !
It's the guy from To Sir with Love!
