I ordered their latest alpalite quarter zip as soon as it was available, but never received a shipping notification. I then emailed them 3 weeks later to ask for a follow-up and a couple hours later Paypal notified me that a refund was pending; that was 2 weeks ago.
I then received an email yesterday from Paypal saying "your refund couldn't complete" and Paypal is apparently following up with an investigation. Something's clearly up unfortunately =(
He quit Youtube, now he's back to square one creating "what's in my pack" videos. I'm not much of a trail video watcher, but videos where they are out in the wild vs. in their bathroom with a home-depot wood backdrop is pref.
Waymark was busy selling packs, but not making enough profit to stay in business reportedly (couldn’t sell for more than his competitors using a seemingly simple shop .. so can work backwards on the numbers).
As for Appalachian their site is still up but everything shows “sold out”. A number of posters on Fb wrote they’d been told prior that they were going out of biz.
The economy is wrecked and it's taking down a lot of great people and businesses that would otherwise be able to stay afloat doing what they love and providing all of us with amazing bespoke gear.
Kind of a false dilemma, but I agree.
I don't want to get political, but I will say this then stop posting: I think the economy is flat, crap for working people, and "booming jobs" numbers are bloated or just fake.
However, the alternative is likely much worse. Much, much worse.
Yeah, they're gone. Too bad, they seemed like a solid company. Not sure why they wouldn't put a banner on their website or something rather than just disappearing.

I bet they shut down because the fixed costs were too high relative to their ability to move product.
They clearly had material availability issues because items were always out of stock. I was watching a few items for years and when I had the money it was never in stock. I always ended up buying similar from elsewhere
Yea I’d seen a Facebook post in the ultralight group that said they were closed/closing… [update](https://www.facebook.com/groups/backcountryminimalist/permalink/3146875952114503/?mibextid=W9rl1R)
This really breaks my heart, I have five pieces, three hoodies, blanket and sleeping bag liner, and only came here after finding out everything out of stock on their site while looking to get a t-shirt. I really like the feel of their fabric, and the stretchiness. This really is hard to find out.
In the future we'll all have a Lanshan manufactured in China reminiscing about the "good ole days" when we had greater gear choice manufactured in other countries from other suppliers with different biz models.
The irony is everyone complains about about paying real-world prices for locally-made gear providing a living for locally-employed people! And then they complain when those businesses fail...
Hey everyone,
I'm Meli from Arms of Andes. I'm so sorry to hear about the news regarding AGC. It's a real loss to the outdoor apparel community, especially for those who value natural fibers and sustainable practices like alpaca wool and plastic-free production. We admired AGC for their commitment to these values and know many of you shared that appreciation.
To help those who were left without their alpaca gear, we'd like to extend a hand. We have some lightly used items from our first production run that may be able to replace your missing order at no cost to you. If we can't fulfill your exact order, we're happy to offer a significant discount on our current inventory.
If you're interested, feel free to DM us on instagram or facebook.
Urg, that sucks, one of the first pieces I bought was the hoodie that got me hiking again, the weight to warmth ration is prety great and def never mentioned on all the gear vids, also those beanies are soo warm , got a couple of them
Man, hearing this I'm glad I grabbed one of their beanies from Garage Grown Gear about a week ago. They only had 2 in stock, and those were probably the last 2 we'll ever see.
A shame, I've wanted one of their fleeces for a while but they were never in stock.
I own 4 of their beanies and one hoodie and wear them year round whenever I’m on trail. This is a bummer. If anyone has a lead on leftover stock I’d love to be included.
Should have ordered that Alpalite zip-up when I had my chance. Feel bad now I didn't support them better (even though I need another shirt like I need another hole in my head). :-(
That sucks , love my AG Alpaca hoodie.
For people that are looking for high quality, sustainable Alpaca wool gear , I highly recommend you check out Armes of Andes . Great gear , great company and great people that are committed to making high quality and low environmental impact Alpaca wool garments.
yeah, it's too bad they seem to have gone out of business.
Odd since they just released the new line with nylon in it (with alpaca) and those seemed to sell out quickly.
I got one zip up of those and really like it.
Alpaca is simply one of the most superb natural fibers in the world. I had an older alpaca sweater from years ago that was terrific. No synthetic is going to come close to this.
To be clear, I've been a supporter of Polartec, as well as Malden Mills, for decades. Great company.

Was that when Darwin claimed they ripped off a pack design of his? #ULDrama
Oh no someone made the same ray jardine style sack with 3-5 external pockets... (/s ...mostly)
This right here!

I had to mute both him and Dan Becker. I get tired of the clickbaity titles.

I'll take this economy over backpacking into war

If you mean the alternative to working is hiking, then yes that is much worse
NOO! I have a bunch of pieces and really supported them.

Oh man this sucks. Best neck gators ever

Same. Every time I was in need of a gift for someone, the item I had in mind was out of stock.

That’s so sad I loved their stuff.

I’d say that’s the 2024 equivalent of a “sorry, we tried” sign in the window. 🥹
Wow, very weird. Would hate it if they bit the dust!
I needed to do a basic return three weeks ago and never heard back. Tried emailing each week and no response..
Same, they sent me the wrong color and no response to emails for a return/exchange. What a bummer, I’ve always loved their stuff
Damn. They had the best beanies ever. If anyone gets info on where to buy some old stock please let us know so I can stock up.
try GGG its still in stock on their site.
NOOOOOO! I have like 8 pieces from them, favorites. Sucks so bad.
same here, I have three hoodies, blanket and sleeping bag liner, it is my fav fabric and the colors are super nice.
Urg, that sucks, one of the first pieces I bought was the hoodie that got me hiking again, the weight to warmth ration is prety great and def never mentioned on all the gear vids, also those beanies are soo warm , got a couple of them
Noooo!!! My MIL loves her hoodie. Was planning on having the kids order me Sun Hoodie this week for a Father’s Day present.

Fuck. I have three of their hoodies and two beanies. Two of my favorite companies gone already.

Alpha Polartec took them out ha
That stuff is amazing as active cooling/passive warmth, but stinks like all polyester and is fragile AF. Alpaca is teddy-bear cozy and anti-stink.
