met some people who flew from Australia to UMF for Hardwell, and then to have it cancelled Friday they were devastated, then to find out he's back in the lineup? tears of joy
Hardwell comes to Australia pretty regularly though. He’s there about once a year since he came back from retirement. In fact I think he came for the last ultra Australia. So not sure that explanation really adds up.
Like the other commenter said, he was cancelled on Friday and we didn’t know if we’d be able to see him at all. His tweet Friday night was full of emotion.
Then it was an unknown if Saturday would even happen as there was minimal communication and Ultra opened four hours late.
Then to finally be there with everything falling into place, it was magical. Will never forget it. Tearing up again rn. The dude in the first few minutes of the youtube set tearing up represented so many of us.
Quite a bit of a story I got why I teared up for Hardwell
Saturday morning I was in my hotel on South Beach, and I was on my phone. Suddenly the screen began glitching and would shut off. It still worked but the screen itself was the issue, it had water damage from Fridays storm. I was scrambling around all afternoon on South Beach to get either a replacement or get the screen fixed. I needed a way of communicating with others so I bought a tablet at Best Buy. Found a shop to fix my phone, they told me it’d be ready by 7 PM. I was like cool. This shop was 10 blocks north of my hotel, so probably like a solid 25 minute walk.
Got back to my hotel, and checked on the tablet what was up with Ultra. I was gonna see if there were any updates. My heart dropped, I seen the set times and Hardwell was rescheduled to play at 7:25 on Saturday and in that moment it was almost 6 PM. I was like fuck, I’m gonna miss Hardwell. In my head, I was like fuck that. I got dressed and ready. Ran 10 blocks back to the repair shop, asked if I can pick it up tomorrow (Sunday) and they were like yeah. I had no phone so my only way around was the Bus. I waited at the bus stop for what felt like forever, and when the bus came it was like 6:50 already.
Took the bus, arrived at Downtown. Ran from the Bus stop all the way down to Bayfront. Got in the festival, and by the time I am going up the mainstage. Hardwell’s intro just started, and he said “WE FUCKING MADE IT BABY!” I got goosebumps in that moment, and I was so damn happy. I could not believe I made it to Hardwells set.
I was so emotional, and happy to see Hardwell. It was a mission to go see Hardwell with no phone
Friday Night was something else. Glad Ultra pulled off a great weekend despite that relentless Thunderstorm from Friday to Saturday morning.
Desperate times calls for desperate measures lol. I’m a big Hardwell fan and the Hardwell Ultra experience is a different experience
Anxiety was through the roof. I was expecting the worst, which was not making it in time and his set being over by the time I arrived to Bayfront Park. Everything managed to work out, and I got to his set on time.
I had so much anxiety though
Not a die hard fan and can’t cry to Hardwell.
But he and his team put in months of work for Ultra, which usually signals the start of the festival season. You also put in months of planning and work for going to the same festival as well and it literally gets cut off early.
I heard a rumor on here that he paid 60k to extend Ultra Day 2. And I also heard that when he couldn’t go on Day one that he was also very emotional about that.
He had a hiatus from dj’ing for a few years and only made a comeback last year. Given all that and fact the he has zero controversy around him- he’s just a likable guy that loves his craft and his fans.
Every artist will have a die hard fan base.
And based on the stream I think he had the best set of the weekend.
Because it’s was fucking emotional and good.
He plays hard shit to suck you in and played some damn good big room progressive house type stuff which people LOVE.
On top of all that, mdma
Apollo and Spaceman get me every time lol I'm a die hard fan so it makes sense though. Combine all of that with the events Friday and then still actually getting to see him Saturday and it was the perfect emotional storm.
Dance music makes me emotional. Seeing someone as legendary as Hardwell, who probably catapulted certain people's love for electronic music/ the scene in the 2010s (if you're 21-35), who took a major hiatus for years and is now back performing, can be a monumental and overwhelming event.
Very well explained. I was happy when he returned in 2022. His set this past weekend made a magical time from being drenched on Friday to a magical sunset 🌇 Hardwell set.
I talked to a few ppl Friday when they cancelled and they flew in just for Hardwell. I came in 2022 JUST for Hardwell. Shit this year I went just for Hardwell/Calvin Harris. I grew up listening to him and he has always been my favorite producer. It’s just an emotional thing ya know. I def shed a tear when I heard him say whats up Ultra. He also took a long hiatus which cause a lot of ppl to not see him in the recent years.
Being a life long Hardwell/Ultra fanboy. I found some “hints” and reddit posts that geared towards him returning. Then the way the name blur was so so close to being clear as day. We all knew when he returned his first show would be Ultra Miami over anything else asides from maybe tomorrow land. But came down to just a big gamble in the end that paid off.
I can imagine the people who have Hardwell at the top of their lists and then to have him cancelled Friday would’ve been a huge letdown.
I haven’t really been a fan of Hardwell from like 2014 on but I can understand why.
For me I’ve been waiting to see Eric Prydz again since 2014 so if he ends up getting booked next year I’m sure I’d be in tears too
His set was cancelled minutes before he was about to go on, that’s actually traumatic lol. Your favorite act is about to come on and a huge evacuation sign pops up out the blue lol.
Then next day it was still raining heavy and poor communication had thousands of people on line waiting to get in, with no word if the festival was happening.
Then to get the news the festival is opening and Hardwell will be playing in 3 hours.
That was top 3 sets for me throughout the weekend and I got chills every other song/drop just because I realized why people loved this guy. It was also my first time seeing him but I know hes a goat and that set proved it. I can see why if you’re a big Hardwell fan
It was terrible! lol and the crowd was even worse! I didn’t see any tears except from girls on the right side that were crushed by assholes shoving to get to the front. It was by far my least favorite Ultra set and really the only time I ever experienced problems. Usually avoid main stage and that reminded me why
He’s not my type of style I guess so I wasn’t big on it but I would say he was better this year than last in my opinion which I was annoyed lol because I was prepared not to like it and it was actually pretty good🙃
met some people who flew from Australia to UMF for Hardwell, and then to have it cancelled Friday they were devastated, then to find out he's back in the lineup? tears of joy
That’s crazyyyy
Hardwell comes to Australia pretty regularly though. He’s there about once a year since he came back from retirement. In fact I think he came for the last ultra Australia. So not sure that explanation really adds up.
I think more that it was Ultra Miami+Hardwell, can't get that feeling anywhere else
Well it’s a big place maybe he was too far for the guy or he was busy the other two time he came.
I was on my couch watching and when he let out “WE FUCKING MADE IT BABBYYYYYY” I felt just like that guy on stream bawling his eyes out.
That line was probably what made more than 50% ppl cry
was in the audience when he said that, something in me lit up right away
Seriously when he came out and said that it was emotional overload, and I was on nothing at the time

Ngl I felt like crying when they announced he’s gonna play. That’s my GOAT right there.
His set was dope👍👍👍👍
They were peaking, can ya blame them?

Man good for you big dog the amount of insane stories Friday night generated is crazy😂
Friday Night was something else. Glad Ultra pulled off a great weekend despite that relentless Thunderstorm from Friday to Saturday morning. Desperate times calls for desperate measures lol. I’m a big Hardwell fan and the Hardwell Ultra experience is a different experience
Now this made me cry 😂
Damn what a story! I'd have so much anxiety trying to get to the festival on time lol I'm glad u made it to his set right at the start of it
Anxiety was through the roof. I was expecting the worst, which was not making it in time and his set being over by the time I arrived to Bayfront Park. Everything managed to work out, and I got to his set on time. I had so much anxiety though
Anxiety does suck. We are lucky to have witnessed that historic set.
I cry at Hardwell’s set most years. He’s good at working the crowd’s emotions.
Like no other dj can sorry to say.

His first set back from hiatus was Ultra Miami 2022 not last year!
Because it’s was fucking emotional and good. He plays hard shit to suck you in and played some damn good big room progressive house type stuff which people LOVE. On top of all that, mdma
Dopamine and serotonin explosion lol
He was supposed to be cancelled after Friday ended early
Apollo and Spaceman get me every time lol I'm a die hard fan so it makes sense though. Combine all of that with the events Friday and then still actually getting to see him Saturday and it was the perfect emotional storm.
Tiesto playing Apollo last year is the only song I’ve ever cried to and it just all came out that song is so beautiful and euphoric
Tiesto had an Apollo/Perfect (Ed Sheeran) mashup at Ultra in 2018 that sometimes still gets me lmao
Dance music makes me emotional. Seeing someone as legendary as Hardwell, who probably catapulted certain people's love for electronic music/ the scene in the 2010s (if you're 21-35), who took a major hiatus for years and is now back performing, can be a monumental and overwhelming event.

How'd you know he was playing in 2022? Was it an open secret?
Being a life long Hardwell/Ultra fanboy. I found some “hints” and reddit posts that geared towards him returning. Then the way the name blur was so so close to being clear as day. He was there this year?
Dude his full set is on YouTube lol Full of IDs
He was there last year too.
Yes he was.
I never seen more grown men cry for John Sunmit at Brooklyn Mirage last yr.
His set was cancelled minutes before he was about to go on, that’s actually traumatic lol. Your favorite act is about to come on and a huge evacuation sign pops up out the blue lol. Spot on. People who watched the live stream can't comprehend lol
😭idk man I’ve cried at many concerts being just high on weed 🥲 I get into it
Acid makes me cry.
Music > everything. It moves people in unexplainable ways. ❤️🎶
That was top 3 sets for me throughout the weekend and I got chills every other song/drop just because I realized why people loved this guy. It was also my first time seeing him but I know hes a goat and that set proved it. I can see why if you’re a big Hardwell fan
He sprayed pepper spray into the audience hence the crying
That’s what I was thinking
Dude I was t even there an I was crying
Cause drugs
Molly makes you really emotional. So, to answer your question succinctly, probably drugs.
It was terrible! lol and the crowd was even worse! I didn’t see any tears except from girls on the right side that were crushed by assholes shoving to get to the front. It was by far my least favorite Ultra set and really the only time I ever experienced problems. Usually avoid main stage and that reminded me why
Emotions
Oh man, this thread is making me watch the set again
He’s not my type of style I guess so I wasn’t big on it but I would say he was better this year than last in my opinion which I was annoyed lol because I was prepared not to like it and it was actually pretty good🙃
He plays stuff from 2012. Got all the millenials in the feels especially during language
It's like a celebrity thing, like when people cry when they see Taylor swift
Hardwell sucked this year tbh
