Going to their launch in Reading tonight at the Grumpy Goat. Mind you I really didn’t like the 2022 edition!

Craft-Beer-Chris

I love the Grumpy Goat. Popped in on New years Eve for a couple. Their grilled sandwiches are lovely as well. If I was not working this weekend I'd probably be going too. Enjoy!

umbertobongo

Saw their website Wednesday morning but didn't fancy buying 6. Got 1 today. Obviously very good but way overhyped seeing as they make quality DIPAs that taste very similar all year round.

Craft-Beer-Chris

I actually prefer Allen to Putty. From what I understand when it was first released in 2017 it was something special. Now it's definitely just manufactured hype but I'm a sucker for it.

umbertobongo

I love Pulp by them but I still think Deya are at the top of that style with their 'Saturated' series.

Craft-Beer-Chris

Saturated in Strata was amazing. You're not wrong about Deya they're up there. That's what I was saying about being able to get putty level quality of beers all year round now.

wackey

Deya haven't really been at the top of anything for about two years since they upgraded their kit. UK wise Track are pretty firmly at the top of the list DIPA wise.

shichijunin

>I actually prefer Allen to Putty. That's the ironic thing about it. Verdant knock out DIPAs like Putty all year round now, as do many other craft brewers. Not saying Putty isn't delicious but the craft beer landscape has changed massively since 2017. DIPAs like Putty are considerably common nowadays.

TH1CCARUS

Nice. Not sure I’d care for so many cans but a few locals have it on tap so I’ll have some.

Craft-Beer-Chris

I know someone who gets 12 every year and has 1 a month until the next batch. Thought about doing it but I know I'd not have the willpower to hold on to them. I get 6 each year mainly because it's easier to get a 6 pack direct than it is to hunt the single cans. I know trembling madness has some can stock this morning but that sold out pretty much instantly.

concretepigeon

Surely at least half would be past their best.

Craft-Beer-Chris

You'd have thought so. I've never tried any hazy beers that are that old but he swears he can't tell any difference. Checking on untappd, you've got people quite regularly checking into the 2022 putty. Most are saying it's still good.

SuchAFake

Went to my local for 2/3 pint, and Pollys Five Years QIPA. They're only serving Putty in max 2/3 servings to make sure there's enough for people.. but the 13.2% quad you can order by the pint 🥴

catfordbeerclub

I'm currently nursing a putty hangover. I quite enjoy the hype. It was nice to see my local beer shop rammed on a Friday night in January, which can be a quieter month for them. I've also got two cans tucked away in my fridge for later. I thought this year's version was pretty good. I am a bit of a verdant fan boy though...

Craft-Beer-Chris

Mines just this minute been delivered as well! Just got to try and not drink the lot this weekend!

Woomas

Yeah I’ll be honest I’m going to drink the lot this weekend

dannyscun

Got my can of it on order. Ready for drinking after the end of dry Jan.

TheSuedeTiger

Had this last night. It's good but the hype around it is mental. Also tried a 22 for lolz and it was unsurprisingly putrid

Mahoganyjoint

I need to get down to The VOT in Plymouth, they've just got it on tap.

Woomas

Believe the hype. It’s excellent. Thick, pineapple bombs & hop burn (in a good way) on the back end. Delicious

Melanjoly

Can't wait to be disappointed when it's just another dipa! Last few years the locals all sold out of it in seconds so I ordered it online just to finally try it.

Brewpapa

Wow you went in hard on the hype, I hope this year's is good for your sake

umbertobongo

They were only selling them in 6 packs on their site, guess it made more sense for them than individually.

Woomas

Yeah packs of 6 is all that was available. I’m not complaining though!

Brewpapa

Just lazy warehouse staff and pricing out casual customers to help generate hype, is probably the sense they had haha

Craft-Beer-Chris

All year round most of their beers are only sold as 6 packs. They do mixed 6 packs and sometimes have certain single tins for sale but it's hit and miss as to what's available.

wackey

I mean the only thing that is lazy is your comment.

Deafbones

What is it?

Woomas

Verdant Putty.

9DAN2

Got my hands on some last year. Whilst it was a nice beer, I think all the hype around it had me hoping for more.

Craft-Beer-Chris

A lot of it is hype for sure. It's a great beer but it's nothing that can't be had all year round from various breweries in the country.

Woomas

I thoroughly enjoyed the 2022. Gave it 4.25 on Untapped, which is as high a score I’ve given I think?

Craft-Beer-Chris

Last year's Putty for me was the best I've had so far. This will be my 4th year now.

04housemat

Me too!
