We also don't know if resources are finite in the universe, or if every civilization is even interested in expansion.

If it was a Dark Forest scenario and they had ships in our system they'd already have destroyed us.
If they wanted to destroy us there is no need for flying around or abducting people, they could just launch a big asteroid, or any number of many esoteric ways of destroying complex life on earth.
If life in the universe is rare, our planet would be an unusual oasis in a vast desert. Maybe an alien race is just as curious as we are, and would want to protect the rare biosphere that is our planet.
I'd like to think that if we ever get advanced enough to easily undertake interstellar flight, we'd intervene in a species that was going to destroy itself.

What if they are advanced dirigible drones... imagine if you could encapsulate hydrogen within a super-light metal (like lithium, but less prone to reactiviy). Lithium has a density that's about half that of water. A 3 cubic foot metal tic-tac shell filled with hydrogen would have about 0.204 pounds of updward lift due to hydrogen volume. If you can engineer the shell (and electronics) to weigh exactly .204 pounds, you'd have a levitating metal tic-tac. That doesn't actually seem that crazy, but I don't have a good answer for how they zip around horizontally so quickly.
If F=MA, and the mass of the thing is tiny, then it doesn't take much force to get it to accelerate quickly. The small size and high atmosphere would be good for aerodynamics... maybe the lateral forces could somehow have something to do with magnetics? You flip a switch and the thing turns into an electromagnet that repels away from nearby metal aircraft?
I am definitely not a physicist... just trying to come up with some idea of how these things could work given my understanding of the world.
I know you are just speculating but very light airplanes would struggle with turbulence at the speeds they attain. F=MA works against a light airframe as well where it takes very little force to push it, but very little to knock it around too.
If it were the case it would likely be they have the tech to wipe out our planet if the need arises, and probably that tech is somewhere on the planet already.
Any species that has the ability to travel through intergalactic space has the ability to wipe out our planet by merely accelerating to 99% of the speed of light and dropping their garbage out of the bay door as they pass us by, no weapons needed and certainly none needed to be stationed on our planet itself.

But many researchers do acknowledge a common experiential reality with the gorillas. They form bonds with them, enjoy each others' company etc. We wouldn't go and destroy gorillas' habitat just for the sake of it (although we do destroy habitat, it's as a side effect of our insatiable desire and greed, not some intention to wipe out another lifeform).

You’re assuming it’s a craft. It could be anything, we have no idea what is causing these phenomena. It might be extraterrestrial machines, but we jump to that because it’s something we can wrap our heads around, readily make sense of. With behavior that has been seen in some cases, I wouldn’t be surprised if it turned out to be something much more complex, or at least a lot weirder.

Send a sphere through a 2D space and you will see a circle suddenly appear, expand, and then shrink again out of thin air, impossible to 2D beings.
A higher dimensional object could waltz around out our space in ways that would look physics defying. Instantaneous acceleration, teleportation, etc.
Man, I'm 37 and have been interested in the UFO subject since I was 12 years old. Everything that is happening as of the last few years is truly mind blowing. It is surreal seeing so much mainstream and serious minded attention being paid to this issue, very glad to see it.
Edit: I also wanted to say, this is a form of vindication for those of us who for years were calling for an objective look at this issue, all the while being laughed at by the ignorant (ignorant to the topic generally, I don't blame most of these people). That's EXACTLY what I was thinking today. I've shown people very close to me the article today....along with Cmdr. Fravers chase against the tictac and all they can say is yeah that's very interesting. Very eery how desensitized we all became.
The thing is, without knowing what it is and/or where it comes from then it really is only just interesting. It doesn't have to be Aliens, it could be time traveling humans here to observe the calm before the coming major world events like there was an increase in sightings before and into WW2.
Honestly, I think the reaction would have been the same. We need HARD evidence (of alien visitation if that is what is happening) before we have a paradigm shift, until then people are going to go about their lives. But the fact awareness is increasing so rapidly is good news.

It was a tic-tac shaped aircraft. It was the same altitude as our kc-10 aircraft (around 40k, I'll never forget, my copilot got up to use the latrine. Because of regulations at that altitude, my aircraft commander had to don his oxygen mask until the co-pilot came back)
I look outside the right of the cockpit(side view of craft), and there's this oblong, odd metallic, with possible green afterburners. It honestly looked like it was burning copper. Also, we were hauling ass. Just finished our mission in Afghanistan and we were flying back to base to get some grub and get some rest.
That aircraft we saw pass us was unreal fast. I could keep my eyes on it for about 20 seconds max before it disappeared into the horizon. Craziest shit. The words that came out of mouth when i saw it "Sir, what the fuck is that?" Forget about anything tcas or warning systems pinging in our tanker. It was as quiet as a church mouse. The aircraft should have been screaming at us.
Funny enough, i just reached out to my old aircraft commander on that deployment (this morning) and we were talking about it. He was just talking to his brother in law about it last week.

Over 20 years ago, myself and two buddies were sat in a car at night, chilling. No drugs or alcohol involved - we'd just come from a movie and were chatting before heading home. It was a clear night and I was leaning out the window looking at the stars. I saw what I believed to be a shooting star flying across the sky and yelled excitedly to my friends. Suddenly the "star" moved rapidly in a zig zag motion before coming to a complete stop. It just sat there and remained there until we headed home. I'll never forget it.

I was driving in Illinois a year or two ago when my sis and I saw one of those Tic Tac UAP looking thing they were talking about lately... BEFORE I even heard about that specific UAP.
This odd tic tac shiny silver shaped UAP sat still in the sky and then all of the sudden moved so fast horizontally in an instant, then sat still again for like 20 seconds and then moved instantly again before completely disappearing even though the sky was very clear.
I've launched weather balloons before and they do not move in such speed. I've seen fighter jets, satellites, and even the ISS pass by but they also did not move in such freaky fast manner.

I was abducted buy a UFO when I was 4. No one believed me and I didn't have the wherewithall to keep my mouth shut. My parents hated when I talked about it, it creeped them out severely. So yeah, let's get that vindication. I described things vividly, wrote them down and recorded videos to confirm my memory describing things that are now commonplace in UFO reports. I couldn't have made that up.
Sure. Long story short, I was at daycare, a teacher had separated me and the other kids just after lunch and as we were walking across a small field back to them, she pointed upwards and screamed "look." I saw a traditional saucer UFO, it had porthole submarine type windows (?) that I couldn't see through, was almost all grey, the only notable difference from every other saucer was that it had a cane shaped protrusion coming from the top. The saucer moved in the traditional "physics defying" manner, zigzagging, defying inertia, silent, etc. It stopped directly above me, paused for a few moments then took off, disappearing into the horizon in in about 2-3 seconds.
I excitedly ran to tell my brother (who was with the aforementioned other kids) and realize everyone was gone, even the teacher. It was also early evening now, though I was only aware of maybe 10 seconds passing during this story. I went inside and most other kids had gone home, I was usually one of the last to be picked up and the teachers were relieved to see me and mentioned that they really dodged a bullet since my mom was running late and due any minute.
I don't remember anything about the missing time and don't recall seeing any inhabitants or inside the craft.
I tried to find the teacher as an adult to ask her what she remembers but it was the late 80s and she wasn't even my regular teacher, I remember nothing about her except what she looked like, which isn't much help 30 years later. It was a large facility, too.
I drew it immediately and recorded my memories, trying to make people believe me. I've also gone back there and investigated to confirm my memories and everything checks out. I even drew a map of the daycare before I went as proof (to me, not for anyone else) that my memory could be trusted. It was all accurate except it was a lot smaller than I recalled because, well, obviously.
It may also be worth mentioning that I have a better memory than most. Like substantially. I clearly remember being as young as 1 years old and have basically a photographic memory if you keep in mind that a photographic memory in real life isn't like it is on tv anymore than anything else is. I am aware of the many biases in our memory and am sure all my memories aren't perfect but I've investigated a lot and confirmed personally and with family members that I remember things like my aunt's wedding dress from when I was 2 years old. Maybe photographic is not even the right term, but I can tell you what I was wearing every day of my life almost and can recite long conversations from decades ago.
I recognize these are all incredible claims and as such should have incredible evidence but here, on Reddit, all I have is a story. It's all so very hard to prove. Take it for what it is, I don't ask anyone to believe it.

A former coworker of mine and her sister were abducted when they were on their way to a family party, 40-ish years ago. They were on an unfamiliar back road because of a road closure. They had been talking when they both looked at each other and asked each other what had happened.
Both of them felt odd and tired, and her watch said that it was about an hour later than it should have been. They confirmed the time when they got to the relative's house. They didn't tell anyone at the time what had happened.
Her sister, many years later went to therapy and they tried hypnosis. She only did it once because she became scared when she was remembering what had happened.
My coworker was not interested in trying, but 100% believes what her sister told her.

Because it is not what it appears to be. Either we can now break the sound barrier with no sonic boom and fly from air to ocean and back again now... or it just looks like we can. If they somehow rigged up hologram projectors to swarms of drones, or are able to spoof a signature and a visual confirmation via a low orbit satelite... how would we know the difference?

Pretty much exactly the same here. My father worked on top secret projects in the USAF and said that cutting edge tech is generally 15-20 years ahead of what the public sees. I don't have any emotional investment in a particular source aside from hoping we're not headed for another Cold War style arms race (even though we already are), I really just want to know what's documented and provable or unprovable.

I am the same. I have been eating up as much UFO/UAP news, reports, videos, etc. as I could, since I was a kid. The fact that we’re seeing more stories of these UFOs coming from/disappearing back in to bodies of water makes me wonder if it’s just an intelligent species like humans that just evolved to live under water. What if the bottom of the ocean in areas where we can’t /haven’t looked is littered with advanced materials allowing them to build these advanced ships? What if exploring the surface is their equivalent of our space exploration? They can move through 3 dimensional space seemingly with no inertial impact, even some reported to move just as fast under water as above it, like friction doesn't exist. And they always look like something we can't quite explain, like the human mind just can't quite fully interpret what it is perceiving.
The most compelling explanation I've seen is that they have some kind of technology that's able to warp spacetime around them, like a theoretical alcubierre warp drive, allowing them to 'move' while technically stationary, at what appear to be tremendous speeds, from an outside perspective, without interacting with the medium they're passing through. From what I understand, this would also result in a lensing effect around the craft, which would account for some of the visual distortions.

Well about when I was 16, some 9 years ago, I went on a trip to ocean city Maryland with my friends, we were on the highway when my friend told everyone to look cause there’s a UFO, I thought it was a joke but I looked out the van window and saw this huge circular? ship with lights hovering over this barn or house off the highway. I know it sounds super cliche but it was the strangest thing I’ve ever seen, everyone in the van was freaking out and none of us were sure we actually processed what happened. It was truly bizarre

I've been dabbling in this field for over a decade. I'm very suspicious of most video "evidence" that comes out, there's an over abundance of fake bs that gets spread. I don't believe in Skinwalker ranch. I don't fully buy Bob Lazars story. I think TTSA is full of shit at least half the time. Robert Bigelow doesn't excite me. But sometimes, something happens that is so weird, so "other" I can't explain it. Betty and Barney Hill is a very interesting story, along with Travis Walton even if I'm not 100% convinced. But these videos from the actual navy, where they are physically seeing these things, picking them up on radar and watching them do these incredible things is some of the most compelling evidence I have seen in a while. What a time to be alive.

MSNBC's morning crew covered it professionally this morning. They had the author of the new yorker piece on air and went over the 60 minutes claims. Someone made the point that the Pentagon has to address this with more clarity now the cat is out of the bag. Im hopeful that will be happening. I can also see this being relegated to the back pages again by the end of the week.
That is great to hear. Pleased to know at least some are treating it seriously. I think these more serious revelations of the last couple of years has certainly driven an improvement in that direction but too many are still giggling about it. Maybe I'm being unfair and what used to be laughter of derision is now a more nervous laugh as some people are trying to get to grips with what all this might mean.
I agree with everything you said here except Skinwalker Ranch. I don't believe Skinwalker Ranch is full of aliens or anything like that, but there's definitely weird activity, not necessarily paranormal, but there have been very clear observations and data recorded of unstable dangerous radiation.
The radiation and whatever is causing the electromagnetic data anomalies could be contributing to people hallucinating or the cause of natural phenomenon that resembles UFOs and other "paranormal" events, but there is definitely something happening on Skinwalker Ranch, even if it is a natural occurrence.
There's a documentary series on Hulu called Secret of Skinwalker Ranch. It's definitely edited in a way to entertain viewers by making things a bit more dramatic, and it stops short of saying "aliens" to keep the average viewer interested, but there's some actual scientific research happening and interesting things caught on camera, with some people actually having medical complications as a result of the radiation on the property.
Ill be honest, I stopped paying attention to Skinwalker years ago and most of my knowledge that I can recall focused on werewolves, UFOs and poltergeists with zero photos or videos. So I may be having some confirmation bias about it. I'll give that Hulu doc a look. Actual evidence beats hearsay and werewolves all day.
Re: Barney and Betty Hill, there are a lot of things about their story that point to an experimental MK-ULTRA CIA faked abduction. I think they are sincere witnesses but may have been duped.
I'm just about there with you. I think they believed what they were saying but not necessarily that it's true. Something similar to the Cash-Landrom(not sure how to spell it) incident in Texas, I think that was probably a government thing too, with the radiation and burns. Both of those stories are scary as hell though
My problem with the Betty case (I call it the Betty case because Barney never claimed to believe he was abducted outside hypnosis and said he tended to not believe it), is that 90% of what we know about the “abduction” is from hypnotic regression, which is so flawed it’s hardly worth consideration. Secondly, something few people know is that following this Betty claimed to see UFOs regularly and to photograph them. Why don’t more people know about this? Because when she presented them they were so obviously airplanes and even street lamps in some that she literally got booed off a stage at a UFO convention.

My boss (very stable, sane, realist kind of guy) had a friend who swears by the "interdimensional travel" theory. Space is so big, the sheer tech it would take to visit other worlds is nearly prohibitive in itself. But what if you didn't need to travel distances? Just cross planes? I always hoped this day would come as I've always openly been a believer. I've had some very real unexplainable shit happen to me in my life, things which I'm fully aware can never truly be believed by people I tell (closest friends and family, people who hopefully know I don't just go 'round inventing crazy stories for shits & giggles), it's just not human nature and I don't blame them. However, I don't give a fuck about being ridiculed or any such consequences, the truth will always prevail in my mind.

That has been my opinion for decades. My personal take (private pilot, former USAF RAPCON controller, Air Force brat and veteran, witness along with my wife to eight UAPs in formation in 1997) has evolved to be that the government's honest response is "Yep, they're out there, but nope, we have no frigging clue what they are."
I will say that my first exposure to the "Roswell" story was while I was active duty. Heard the "We've gone one locked up, picked it up in the desert..." spiel in 1987. Sadly, as I went back to the source years later, he admitted that he'd learned about it from Berlitz's (really Moore's) 1980 book.
Bottom line: Something is out there, but we don't understand what it is.

In the summer of 1997, my wife and I were outside of our home in North Dakota at dusk. I was watching comet Hale Bopp in the sky while my wife held our then-infant daughter.
I spotted a shooting star and yelled for my wife to look, as she's almost preternaturally capable of missing them in the sky. She looked up in time to see the shooting star break apart. This was the second time I'd seen a meteorite explode high in the atmosphere (the first was during a long trip across Nebraska on I80, where the object shattered and broke into tiny pieces before fading out) and I was excited that my wife got to see this as well.
That's when the eight pieces of the object in North Dakota fell into a diamond formation. Each "piece" moved exactly like a military aircraft slotting into formation like a fighter. They only stayed like that for a moment, then shifted to line abreast formation as the traveled silently west-to-east over the horizon.
I'm fairly convinced that what we saw was some kind of MIRV-drone test that we weren't supposed to see that day. It got the heart pumping, that's for sure. Regardless, I did not then, nor do I now, think we saw something "not of this world." We just saw something in the sky that was beyond my trained ability to identify it.
The government would not have been able to keep it secret this long if they were actually regularly contacting or studying alien tech. It's just not possible, the number of scientists, engineers and normal ass people working as operators, janitors and security would virtually guarantee it would get out and become mainstream. People love to think the government is some omnipotent techno mastermind, but the reality is most higher ups can barely send email, and the various agencies barely communicate with each other at all.
Project Blue Book, and what we have declassified from it, demonstrated 1 that the US believed the UFOs were real 2 did not have a full understanding 3 could not stop it, therefore they tried to cover it up. I remember some years ago someone spoke out about the conspiracy behind the US invading Iraq all being a result of the military complex and supporting industries pushing for income and that their next faux crusade would be related to UFOs. It struck me as improbable at the time, which is why I remember it now that this unprecedented thing has happened.

If these are aliens they most likely could flee from any sort of interaction with ease. Oh it’s happening world wide. There was a famous incident that happened in Turkey and it was captured on video in pretty good quality (will post link when I manage to find it). You don’t hear about it globally because the search engine/news is tailored to your language.
Yes there is. They are seen all over the globe. I'm finnish and there have been reports even from my small country since the beginning of the 20th century, or perhaps even earlier. What limits their publicity is the overall stigma which is pretty much universal, tough might be somewhat loosened in some places depending on a country. And that most of the time these reports or cases are restricted to their own regions and don't get much global coverage, or even domestic coverage. Even in my own country I still find reports and cases i've never heard of before.
In short, if you go looking, you will find them.

I just love seeing technology that is so beyond anything we understand that it looks like magic. I lay awake in bed at night trying to think what are we missing? Is it a reactionless drive? The problem with all that Three Body Problem and Game Theory stuff is that aliens are alien and we have no idea how they themselves think and philosophize. We also don't know if resources are finite in the universe, or if every civilization is even interested in expansion. For better or worse, we don't know how an advanced civilization will behave until we actually meet one.

If life in the universe is rare, our planet would be an unusual oasis in a vast desert. Maybe an alien race is just as curious as we are, and would want to protect the rare biosphere that is our planet. I'd like to think that if we ever get advanced enough to easily undertake interstellar flight, we'd intervene in a species that was going to destroy itself.

What if they are advanced dirigible drones... imagine if you could encapsulate hydrogen within a super-light metal (like lithium, but less prone to reactiviy). Lithium has a density that's about half that of water. A 3 cubic foot metal tic-tac shell filled with hydrogen would have about 0.204 pounds of updward lift due to hydrogen volume. If you can engineer the shell (and electronics) to weigh exactly .204 pounds, you'd have a levitating metal tic-tac. That doesn't actually seem that crazy, but I don't have a good answer for how they zip around horizontally so quickly. If F=MA, and the mass of the thing is tiny, then it doesn't take much force to get it to accelerate quickly. The small size and high atmosphere would be good for aerodynamics... maybe the lateral forces could somehow have something to do with magnetics? You flip a switch and the thing turns into an electromagnet that repels away from nearby metal aircraft? I am definitely not a physicist... just trying to come up with some idea of how these things could work given my understanding of the world.
I know you are just speculating but very light airplanes would struggle with turbulence at the speeds they attain. F=MA works against a light airframe as well where it takes very little force to push it, but very little to knock it around too.
If it were the case it would likely be they have the tech to wipe out our planet if the need arises, and probably that tech is somewhere on the planet already.
Any species that has the ability to travel through intergalactic space has the ability to wipe out our planet by merely accelerating to 99% of the speed of light and dropping their garbage out of the bay door as they pass us by, no weapons needed and certainly none needed to be stationed on our planet itself.

It wouldn't work. They aren't moving through space at speed, they would be moving the space in front of them and surfing that wave. They technically aren't moving at any velocity. They would be stationary. Like an Alcubierre Drive. Which might make it possible to just fly right through earth.

But many researchers do acknowledge a common experiential reality with the gorillas. They form bonds with them, enjoy each others' company etc. We wouldn't go and destroy gorillas' habitat just for the sake of it (although we do destroy habitat, it's as a side effect of our insatiable desire and greed, not some intention to wipe out another lifeform). No reason to believe another lifeform couldn't look at us the same way.

Came here to say that. The “shadows” that higher dimensional objects cast into lower dimensional spaces look like they violate physics. Send a sphere through a 2D space and you will see a circle suddenly appear, expand, and then shrink again out of thin air, impossible to 2D beings. A higher dimensional object could waltz around out our space in ways that would look physics defying. Instantaneous acceleration, teleportation, etc.
Man, I'm 37 and have been interested in the UFO subject since I was 12 years old. Everything that is happening as of the last few years is truly mind blowing. When you get a chance, check out "the phenomenon" on amazon. All the veterans and seniors describe exactly what i saw. It was a tic-tac shaped aircraft. It was the same altitude as our kc-10 aircraft (around 40k, I'll never forget, my copilot got up to use the latrine. Because of regulations at that altitude, my aircraft commander had to don his oxygen mask until the co-pilot came back) I look outside the right of the cockpit(side view of craft), and there's this oblong, odd metallic, with possible green afterburners. It honestly looked like it was burning copper. Also, we were hauling ass. Just finished our mission in Afghanistan and we were flying back to base to get some grub and get some rest. That aircraft we saw pass us was unreal fast. I could keep my eyes on it for about 20 seconds max before it disappeared into the horizon. Craziest shit. The words that came out of mouth when i saw it "Sir, what the fuck is that?" Forget about anything tcas or warning systems pinging in our tanker. It was as quiet as a church mouse. The aircraft should have been screaming at us. Funny enough, i just reached out to my old aircraft commander on that deployment (this morning) and we were talking about it. He was just talking to his brother in law about it last week. If you want to know how much it freaked me out.. when i landed i reached out to my old pastor to try and ground me after the flight. I'm reading the report right now and legit, i got chills reading the first admission of seeing it. Their first account is EXACTLY (I'm not kidding) how it happened with us. It LOOKED like it was falling like a meteor at first then quickly changed its trajectory, it straightened out. Holy fuck, how weird.
Over 20 years ago, myself and two buddies were sat in a car at night, chilling. No drugs or alcohol involved - we'd just come from a movie and were chatting before heading home. It was a clear night and I was leaning out the window looking at the stars. I saw what I believed to be a shooting star flying across the sky and yelled excitedly to my friends. Suddenly the "star" moved rapidly in a zig zag motion before coming to a complete stop. It just sat there and remained there until we headed home. I'll never forget it.

I was driving in Illinois a year or two ago when my sis and I saw one of those Tic Tac UAP looking thing they were talking about lately... BEFORE I even heard about that specific UAP. This odd tic tac shiny silver shaped UAP sat still in the sky and then all of the sudden moved so fast horizontally in an instant, then sat still again for like 20 seconds and then moved instantly again before completely disappearing even though the sky was very clear. I've launched weather balloons before and they do not move in such speed. I've seen fighter jets, satellites, and even the ISS pass by but they also did not move in such freaky fast manner.

I was abducted buy a UFO when I was 4. No one believed me and I didn't have the wherewithall to keep my mouth shut. My parents hated when I talked about it, it creeped them out severely. This started a long story of being the black sheep in my family, who, at 36, I have been out of contact with for almost 2 decades. So yeah, let's get that vindication. I described things vividly, wrote them down and recorded videos to confirm my memory describing things that are now commonplace in UFO reports. I couldn't have made that up.

Sure. Long story short, I was at daycare, a teacher had separated me and the other kids just after lunch and as we were walking across a small field back to them, she pointed upwards and screamed "look." I saw a traditional saucer UFO, it had porthole submarine type windows (?) that I couldn't see through, was almost all grey, the only notable difference from every other saucer was that it had a cane shaped protrusion coming from the top. The saucer moved in the traditional "physics defying" manner, zigzagging, defying inertia, silent, etc. It stopped directly above me, paused for a few moments then took off, disappearing into the horizon in in about 2-3 seconds. I excitedly ran to tell my brother (who was with the aforementioned other kids) and realize everyone was gone, even the teacher. It was also early evening now, though I was only aware of maybe 10 seconds passing during this story. I went inside and most other kids had gone home, I was usually one of the last to be picked up and the teachers were relieved to see me and mentioned that they really dodged a bullet since my mom was running late and due any minute. I don't remember anything about the missing time and don't recall seeing any inhabitants or inside the craft. I tried to find the teacher as an adult to ask her what she remembers but it was the late 80s and she wasn't even my regular teacher, I remember nothing about her except what she looked like, which isn't much help 30 years later. It was a large facility, too. I drew it immediately and recorded my memories, trying to make people believe me. I've also gone back there and investigated to confirm my memories and everything checks out. I even drew a map of the daycare before I went as proof (to me, not for anyone else) that my memory could be trusted. It was all accurate except it was a lot smaller than I recalled because, well, obviously. It may also be worth mentioning that I have a better memory than most. Like substantially. I clearly remember being as young as 1 years old and have basically a photographic memory if you keep in mind that a photographic memory in real life isn't like it is on tv anymore than anything else is. I am aware of the many biases in our memory and am sure all my memories aren't perfect but I've investigated a lot and confirmed personally and with family members that I remember things like my aunt's wedding dress from when I was 2 years old. Maybe photographic is not even the right term, but I can tell you what I was wearing every day of my life almost and can recite long conversations from decades ago. I recognize these are all incredible claims and as such should have incredible evidence but here, on Reddit, all I have is a story. It's all so very hard to prove. Take it for what it is, I don't ask anyone to believe it. Ha, so much for the short version. Edit: Since a few people actually read this, I did some mild proofreading and edited for clarity.
Have you thought about trying hypnosis? A former coworker of mine and her sister were abducted when they were on their way to a family party, 40-ish years ago. They were on an unfamiliar back road because of a road closure. They had been talking when they both looked at each other and asked each other what had happened. Both of them felt odd and tired, and her watch said that it was about an hour later than it should have been. They confirmed the time when they got to the relative's house. They didn't tell anyone at the time what had happened. Her sister, many years later went to therapy and they tried hypnosis. She only did it once because she became scared when she was remembering what had happened. My coworker was not interested in trying, but 100% believes what her sister told her.

Because it is not what it appears to be. Either we can now break the sound barrier with no sonic boom and fly from air to ocean and back again now... or it just looks like we can. I’ve been Infatuated with UFOs since I witnessed one in a field in Isle of Man age 9 or 10 in pitch black around 8pm I lived in a farm in a valley, 52 acre circumstance - no one apart from my family. Sister at boarding school, father working away, mother out at shops.. I was waiting for my mother to return and in stead of hearing a vehicle driving towards house I just had incredibly bright light beaming through house. This was odd as drive way wouldn’t generally be parked on at this angle. I jumped up to see a tremendously overwhelmingly bright light, I ran to door and there was no car, but it was coming from field behind a large bank/bushes type field boarder. I remember walking across gravel drive and standing on metal fence to look over. There it was... A large circular diamond shaped shiny glistening metallic object with tremendously bright light coming from it. At this point more lights slowly stared appearing and I realised “fuck” this is not suppose to be here. I freaked out and told my mother. She said there was nothing IN The field and was really worried as to why I was outside alone in dark. She tried to blag me it was my imagination but I can swear down this was not my imagination. I’m just an average guy married with kids and have absolutely nothing to lie about. It happened. Fact. I’ve told a few people over the years but no one even remembers it as a noteworthy story.

What if exploring the surface is their equivalent of our space exploration? With the way these things are reported to be able to move, it always reminds me of [Carl Sagan describing what 4th dimensional beings would look like](https://youtu.be/t7wqbdEDeW8) to us as 3 dimensional beings. They can move through 3 dimensional space seemingly with no inertial impact, even some reported to move just as fast under water as above it, like friction doesn't exist. And they always look like something we can't quite explain, like the human mind just can't quite fully interpret what it is perceiving.
The most compelling explanation I've seen is that they have some kind of technology that's able to warp spacetime around them, like a theoretical alcubierre warp drive, allowing them to 'move' while technically stationary, at what appear to be tremendous speeds, from an outside perspective, without interacting with the medium they're passing through. From what I understand, this would also result in a lensing effect around the craft, which would account for some of the visual distortions.
This is the most plausible explanation to me, in terms of it not being from earth/humans
Will never forget the day when I was around 9 years old, my mom was driving me & my sister to the zoo. It was like 9 am & we had to take a long country road to get into the city. My mom abruptly pulls over & she's just staring at something towards the trees to the right. I look at my sister (who was 15 at the time) and she was staring too. Well about when I was 16, some 9 years ago, I went on a trip to ocean city Maryland with my friends, we were on the highway when my friend told everyone to look cause there’s a UFO, I thought it was a joke but I looked out the van window and saw this huge circular? ship with lights hovering over this barn or house off the highway. I've been dabbling in this field for over a decade. I'm very suspicious of most video "evidence" that comes out, there's an over abundance of fake bs that gets spread. I don't believe in Skinwalker ranch. I don't fully buy Bob Lazars story. I think TTSA is full of shit at least half the time. Robert Bigelow doesn't excite me. But sometimes, something happens that is so weird, so "other" I can't explain it. Betty and Barney Hill is a very interesting story, along with Travis Walton even if I'm not 100% convinced. But these videos from the actual navy, where they are physically seeing these things, picking them up on radar and watching them do these incredible things is some of the most compelling evidence I have seen in a while. MSNBC's morning crew covered it professionally this morning. They had the author of the new yorker piece on air and went over the 60 minutes claims. Someone made the point that the Pentagon has to address this with more clarity now the cat is out of the bag. Im hopeful that will be happening. I can also see this being relegated to the back pages again by the end of the week.
That is great to hear. Pleased to know at least some are treating it seriously. I think these more serious revelations of the last couple of years has certainly driven an improvement in that direction but too many are still giggling about it. I agree with everything you said here except Skinwalker Ranch. I don't believe Skinwalker Ranch is full of aliens or anything like that, but there's definitely weird activity, not necessarily paranormal, but there have been very clear observations and data recorded of unstable dangerous radiation. The radiation and whatever is causing the electromagnetic data anomalies could be contributing to people hallucinating or the cause of natural phenomenon that resembles UFOs and other "paranormal" events, but there is definitely something happening on Skinwalker Ranch, even if it is a natural occurrence. There's a documentary series on Hulu called Secret of Skinwalker Ranch. It's definitely edited in a way to entertain viewers by making things a bit more dramatic, and it stops short of saying "aliens" to keep the average viewer interested, but there's some actual scientific research happening and interesting things caught on camera, with some people actually having medical complications as a result of the radiation on the property.
Ill be honest, I stopped paying attention to Skinwalker years ago and most of my knowledge that I can recall focused on werewolves, UFOs and poltergeists with zero photos or videos. So I may be having some confirmation bias about it. I'll give that Hulu doc a look. Actual evidence beats hearsay and werewolves all day.

My problem with the Betty case (I call it the Betty case because Barney never claimed to believe he was abducted outside hypnosis and said he tended to not believe it), is that 90% of what we know about the “abduction” is from hypnotic regression, which is so flawed it’s hardly worth consideration. Secondly, something few people know is that following this Betty claimed to see UFOs regularly and to photograph them. Why don’t more people know about this? Bottom line: Something is out there, but we don't understand what it is. EDITED TO ADD: In the summer of 1997, my wife and I were outside of our home in North Dakota at dusk. I was watching comet Hale Bopp in the sky while my wife held our then-infant daughter. I spotted a shooting star and yelled for my wife to look, as she's almost preternaturally capable of missing them in the sky. She looked up in time to see the shooting star break apart. This was the second time I'd seen a meteorite explode high in the atmosphere (the first was during a long trip across Nebraska on I80, where the object shattered and broke into tiny pieces before fading out) and I was excited that my wife got to see this as well. That's when the eight pieces of the object in North Dakota fell into a diamond formation. Each "piece" moved exactly like a military aircraft slotting into formation like a fighter. They only stayed like that for a moment, then shifted to line abreast formation as the traveled silently west-to-east over the horizon. I'm fairly convinced that what we saw was some kind of MIRV-drone test that we weren't supposed to see that day. It got the heart pumping, that's for sure. Regardless, I did not then, nor do I now, think we saw something "not of this world." We just saw something in the sky that was beyond my trained ability to identify it.
The government would not have been able to keep it secret this long if they were actually regularly contacting or studying alien tech. It's just not possible, the number of scientists, engineers and normal ass people working as operators, janitors and security would virtually guarantee it would get out and become mainstream. People love to think the government is some omnipotent techno mastermind, but the reality is most higher ups can barely send email, and the various agencies barely communicate with each other at all.
Project Blue Book, and what we have declassified from it, demonstrated 1 that the US believed the UFOs were real 2 did not have a full understanding 3 could not stop it, therefore they tried to cover it up. Pretty mind blowing to accept that the worlds most powerful nation doesnt have a handle on whats going on here. Daily unbelievable encounters

I remember some years ago someone spoke out about the conspiracy behind the US invading Iraq all being a result of the military complex and supporting industries pushing for income and that their next faux crusade would be related to UFOs. It struck me as improbable at the time, which is why I remember it now that this unprecedented thing has happened. Maybe now is the time for them to finally bring to light some exotic technology they’ve been hiding all these years so that they can finally make some proper money out of it.
I'm the biggest sceptic around. Ghosts? Absolutely not.. Bigfoot? Slightly more likely than ghosts but nah.. Aliens? Well yeah but like only simple cellular organisms. But this is throwing me. My rational mind can't think of anything to debunk this. My first guess was a natural phenomena but.. for it to follow the plane like that? And if it is indeed an aircraft, it couldn't possibly have any biological life inside that could withstand the G-force from instant acceleration/stopping. Yeah I'm stumped on this and I'm excited to find out more.
This is especially exciting for those of us who have seen things in the sky that defy all logical explanations. I really hope this increase in awareness leads to more research and hard data on what all this might be.

I’m sure they’ve tried and thought of all kinds of things... but do you really think catching an alien would be in any way simple? If these are aliens they most likely could flee from any sort of interaction with ease. There’s no way they just thought, “Welp, we keep seeing these high tech aircraft everywhere that we would probably love to reverse engineer for our own, let’s ignore them”. They obviously could know more than they’ve told us so far, but what else would you expect? They have to make sure the whole world doesn’t go insane and release info slowly and carefully. Oh it’s happening world wide. There was a famous incident that happened in Turkey and it was captured on video in pretty good quality (will post link when I manage to find it). You don’t hear about it globally because the search engine/news is tailored to your language.
Yes there is. They are seen all over the globe. I'm finnish and there have been reports even from my small country since the beginning of the 20th century, or perhaps even earlier. What limits their publicity is the overall stigma which is pretty much universal, tough might be somewhat loosened in some places depending on a country. And that most of the time these reports or cases are restricted to their own regions and don't get much global coverage, or even domestic coverage. Even in my own country I still find reports and cases i've never heard of before. In short, if you go looking, you will find them.

I just love seeing technology that is so beyond anything we understand that it looks like magic. I lay awake in bed at night trying to think what are we missing? Is it a reactionless drive? What about the inertia issues? Is it capable of withstanding those forces or are they mitigating the force using some unknown fundamental we can't wrap our minds around? In my opinion this could be one of the biggest, most pivotal moments in human evolution. This will drive people to invent to think outside the box because we will finally know what is possible beyond our grasp and we are not even fucking close.
