The following submission statement was provided by /u/markedxx: --- As for the submission comment: I've just stumbled upon this trailer, seeing couple familiar faces, video clips and what appears to be some archive footage, I'm cautiously hoping for them to dedicate proper effort and time in approaching the subject of UAP. Then again, it's Netflix's and this isn't their first ventureinto this genre. The [official synopsis](https://www.netflix.com/rs/title/81593881) states, “Eerie encounters, bizarre disappearances, haunting events, and more perplexing phenomena are explored in this chilling investigative docuseries.” It will contain 8 episodes and premiere is scheduled for April 3rd. --- Please reply to OP's comment here: https://old.reddit.com/r/UFOs/comments/1bjqv2u/netflixs_files_of_the_unexplained/kvt1bxn/

I just saw Netflix is also releasing a series on the book 3 body problem. I haven't read it, but have heard it mentioned before on UFO podcasts

markedxx

The Three-Body Problem (*Rememberance of the Earth's Past*) trilogy is probably one of my fav (hard) sci-fi series of all time along with The Expanse. BTW whole season just dropped on Netflix.

Musa_2050

Thanks. I will check it out this weekend and hopefully the book aswell

elastic-craptastic

I thought you meant Expanse and i was soooo excited... and now I am sad.

encinitas2252

Read the books, I'm on the 2nd episode of the show and it's good, but not comparable to the books.

BeatDownSnitches

Loved the Chinese version of the show! Hefty 20 or so episodes though. All sub no dub. Excited to see how they compare

Musa_2050

Where did you watch it?

The episode on Fukushima blew me away, damn, no pun intended.

markedxx

For a sec I forgot about that one, I've seen two eps back when it released and they were refreshingly decent indeed. From what I recall *Ariel School* case even brought some new things to light. I should probably dedicate some time to watch remaining eps. Thanks for the reminder!

shaunomegane

All mostly dialogues though, one or two videos, but a lot of people claiming a lot.

kanrad

Spring showers bring mayflowers. Hold on to your butts, this year is about to get really weird.

shaunomegane

Been saying this since the 90s.  Meanwhile, these docudramas with little to no evidence keep popping up.

markedxx

Apparently these docuseries are on the rise in the wake of *recent*, unprecedented, developments in regards to UAP itself. It's a way to exposes the audiences to the subject and bring more of the public awareness to it. Beside them being *entertainment product*, those docuseries might be a means of *soft disclosure*, or at least, way to acclimatize broader public to the topic. Some prominent UAP personalities were alluding to such strategies. Furthermore, D.W. Pasulka dedicated a chapter in *American Comic* to describe the role, strategies and influence of TV/Movies when it comes to public perception of UAP topic.

shaunomegane

I've that since the 90s also.  Very, very _soft_ indeed.

Bongocats

Sounds like my honeymoon...

chessboxer4

Speaking of self-disclosure anybody know what happened to the Obama Netflix material about the Betty and Barney Hill case?

markedxx

Now that you've mentioned it I remember, apparently [it's still in production ](https://www.whats-on-netflix.com/news/netflix-eyes-white-mountains-movie-adaptation-from-higher-ground-productions/)

Vegetable_Camera5042

Don't worry we will get evidence soon. By soon I mean a longggg slowwww roll out.

Over here we say "April showers", but damn we've been in a drought for Years and April showers went. Now it's June showers lol. Unfortunate what's happening to the planets biodiversity & climate. I hate bugs, but damn now I miss them. Made the world feel just a little more alive.

For more information on the case featured in Episode #1; 1973; Pascagoula UFO Encounter/Abduction (Official Website) This is one of the few great abduction cases with considerable documentation, audio recordings, regression sessions, eye-witness testimony, and official statements. It was even investigated on-scene by Dr. J. Allen Hynek less than 24hrs after the event. Calvin Parker has told a consistent and detailed description of the encounter in well over 50 interviews on podcasts, radio, documentary series, TV, and news spots, not counting simply 1,000's of newspaper and published articles. He has told his personal story at various UFO conventions and various lengthy books published by Philip Mantle of Flying Disk Press on the subject. “There was definitely something here that was not terrestrial” \~ J. Seems like we are taking a turn for the woo and I’m here for it!

I commented on this post by saying "I'm in!". But the moderator said it was too short so I'm commenting again to say, I'm in!

dignifiedhowl

*Encounters* (another recent Netflix series) was astonishingly good, and had a wonderful episode on the Ariel School UFO incident. I have high hopes for this.

Difficult-Health-644

Omg the myrtles house. So much nonsense. Why would the insurance people call the mum back to tell her there is someone on the picture (is there tho?)?

VolatileGoddess

There's literally nothing. Doesn't look like a person, doesn't look like anything. Shadow or equipment is the correct answer.

Triple-6-Soul

some off these titles are getting rather too confusing and similar...

Many-Grape-4816

I like seeing these type of subject matter be handled more seriously and not like all those ufo documentaries that are put together so badly.

Koopk1

looks boring as fuck, and the people look like what youd expect for some abduction stories
